Doctor Whooves: Earth and Sky
Chapter 1
Load Full Story Next ChapterA guard trotted through the articulate hallways of the museum. He was working the night shift once again as he navigated his way through the dimly lit museum. The halls would have been shrouded in darkness had there not have been a few lights left on for the security ponies. Wax figures of famous ponies from throughout the universe made up the many exhibits all around him .This was the pony exhibit, the wing he was supposed to patrol and protect from thieves, not that anyone could steal from the museum. As a matter of fact, he was more surprised that they even closed at all.
While he leisurely patrolled the halls he came across six mares; perhaps the most famous ponies in history aside from maybe Celestia and Luna themselves. They were the bearers of the six elements of harmony. It was always interesting to the guard to see them reincarnated as wax figurines. Though, he had always wondered why they were so grey.
Rarity had a large Rock, which was labeled with the name “TOM”. The night shift guard smiled, he knew this particular story; though, it wasn’t a happy one. He often wondered why the museum had an exhibit displaying the largest fight the six elements of harmony ever had. The exhibit was based on the day upon which Discord was freed from his stone prison and unleashed pure chaos upon the land of Equestria. Yet, the stallions in charge of the museum had thought that the six ponies displaying disharmony was the best example of it.
The earth pony gave a light shrug and began to walk down the halls, but stopped when he heard a voice.
“Stop laughing at me!”
The surprised guard pony turned around and pressed a hoof to his radio. “Hey, this is Nightstick. I… um… I think we may have some nighttime visitors.” He said, as he cautiously attempted to follow the mysterious voice.
“Ha, ha.”
“I said Stop laughing!”
“Get back, Tom is mine!”
Nightstick picked up his pace; galloping back to the six mares he had passed earlier along his patrol. The startled pony turned the corner, only to drop his radio and freeze in place. He found himself in the company of six greyscale mares which had seemingly been brought to life. The confused guard said, stuttering as he spoke. “W-what is going on?”
“Don’t know, don’t care, not my problem.” A greyscale Rainbow Dash commented with a shrug.
Nightstick’s mouth dropped a little as he blinked, the wax figures were coming to life, all of them! He timidly took a step back, only to feel someone behind him.
“Like it?”
Nightstick turned around and saw someone. The trembling guard pony’s eyes grew wide. “But that’s… no.” There was a snap and suddenly the guard was gone. He had incomprehensibly disappeared in a bright flash of light. Maniacal laughter rang out through the museum.
“I said stop laughing!” Pinkie Pie yelled glaring at the other figure.

The Doctor floated in the air, attempting to use his wings under the instruction of Rainbow Dash. The roof of the TARDIS seemed far too high to actually reach, and yet Rainbow leisurely held a hoof to it. “Come on Doc’, you can do it! Fly! You’ve got the wings now, so just do it! Touch the ceiling!”
Fluttershy was watching worriedly from a distance. “Um, maybe that’s, um not such a good idea.”
Twilight was busy with a book she had picked up from the library. The group had decided to make a small trip home for supplies, and as soon as The Doctor’s flying lession was over they would be heading out.
“I don’t really know if im the flying type of pegasi really. I am much more used to using my legs.” The Doctor explained as he strained his wings in an attempt to climb higher, but ultimately fell short and hit the ground with a booming thud.
“You call that flying!”
“No, actually rainbow, I call that falling.” The Doctor said with a sigh as he flexed his wings. It had seemed that ever since he got them, he had intended to learn how to fly. However, as talented as Rainbow Dash was, she was not a good teacher.
Getting up, he looked around the control room. Rarity was in her room and Pinkie Pie was bouncing through the doors and into the TARDIS.
“Where is applejack?” The Doctor asked as he got up off the ground and dusted himself off.
Pinkie Pie put the bag of stuff she was carrying on the ground and turned to answer the Time Lord’s question. “She said she wanted to spend a few days at the farm. Apparently she wanted to spend some time with Apple Bloom, and Big Mac. After all the excitement back in Luna’s republic, she decided she wants to take a break and be with her family.”
The Doctor nodded. “Okay, then we will pick her up in a few days; though really she will be missing out.”
Twilight got to her hooves, putting the book down and carefully placing a marker in the page. “So then, Doctor, where are we going today?”
“The universe’s first royal museum. You are all going to love this, picture a giant ship in space with all of the universes history right inside. Well, actually now that I think about it, it isn’t really a ship so much as a station, and it doesn’t have all the universe’s history… you know what, just forget what I said. You will see it for yourselves soon enough.” The Doctor corrected himself as he raced off to the controls of his TARDIS.
“Sounds good.” Twilight nodded.
“And… we’re off.” The Doctor cheered, flipping a switch with a hoof. The noise of a dying blender was muffled inside the TARDIS, but still audible as the TARDIS began to dematerialize and move through the time vortex
“Oh, I was meaning to ask; why is the TARDIS a blue police box? Those haven’t been used in Equestria for a long time.” Twilight explained, looking up at The Doctor.
“Well, there was a time when the TARDIS had a device called a Chameleon Circuit. It made the TARDIS capable of disguising itself accordingly to the time period and location it was in. However, when I first landed in Equestria is was in Hoofdon in the mid 1960’s, and well, the circuit shorted out and the TARDIS kind of got stuck on this disguise.” The Doctor said while monitoring the flight.
“And you never thought to fix it?”
“Oh, I thought about it, but why should I really? I mean, I kind of like the appearance of the TARDIS…I think it’s rather iconic now.” The Doctor explained as he expertly flicked another switch and trotted away from the console.
The moment he stepped away from the console, there was a loud crash. Suddenly, everything was in motion. Ponies were thrown from one end of the TARDIS to the other. Rarity’s scream could be heard over the sound of panic and chaos, accompanied by a loud splash. All of a sudden, everything went black.
“Hello? Anypony still alive?” Fluttershy’s voice was small and meek against the darkness, but slowly replies came in.
“What in the hay was that?” Rainbow dash said, her body sore from being thrown over the glass ledge and landing on the more solid grates below.
“Um, I think we hit something. It’s okay though TARDIS has emergency procedures, we would have landed in the safest space available.” The Doctor coughed as the lights started to flicker back to life.
The inside of the control room was a mess wires. Panels were sprayed everywhere and sparks flew from the central console, but it all still looked like it would work.
Twilight shook her head. “What did we hit?”
Without warning, the doors to the rooms and pool all swung open. A soaking wet Rarity walking out from one of the rooms. “I am not happy, Doctor! I thought you said you were going to move that pool.”
The Doctor rubbed his head with a hoof. “Well, I did… I moved it closer to your room. As for you, Twilight… I don’t really know.”
“Where and when are we then? Can you at least tell us that?”
The Doctor got up and slowly made his way over to the controls. “We are currently in the year 2303 inside the universe’s first museum. I will snap the TARDIS onto self repair, and we can take a look around.”
**
Ditzy Doo held the controls of the TARDIS as The Doctor monitored her every motion as she piloted his TARDIS. “That’s right, you’re doing fine. Oi, but careful now you just want to make sure we arrive at our destination.” The Doctor thought for a moment. “In one piece, may I add.” He added as Ditzy looked back to him with a somewhat awkward smile.
Ditzy Doo nodded, attempting to focus her eyes on the controls as best as she could. This was her eighth flying lesson, and she had actually started getting really good, it was funny to her that an earth pony could teach her so much about flying something, but she had long since stopped questioning the doctor. She hit another lever with her hoof and the TARDIS swayed slightly.
“Careful! This isn’t like using your wings Ditzy, time currents can be a bit more tricky to-” The Doctor was cut off when something slammed into his TARDIS. Suddenly he found himself flung into one of the many large structural supports hitting his head hard, as for Ditzy Doo she was thrown head over hoof, rolling over herself and landing flat on her stomach.
“-navigate...” The Doctor finished as he got up. The lights, which surrounded his TARDIS, were all out, and then slowly they faded back into life. The TARDIS was for the most part in tact with no real damage. “Looks like we got off lucky.”
“Sorry, Doctor!” Ditzy Doo apologized as she got to her hooves and stretched her wings. She shook her head. The grey pegasus was shaken, but ultimately was fine. “What happened?”
“Something hit us inside the time vortex. Not to worry though, the TARDIS has safety protocols. She will have set down in the safest possible location.”
“What could do that?” Ditzy blinked
“No clue, but according to this, we have set down inside a museum. Want to take a look around, Ditzy?” The Doctor asked.
“Well of course I do!” Ditzy was practically walking on air at the prospect of looking around. That was the fun part of traveling with The Doctor, the exploration, and the constant running was always good cardio.
“Well then, let’s go. Allons-y!” The Doctor yelled with excitement as he opened the TARDIS’s doors.
**
The Pegasus Doctor walked outside of his TARDIS, his companions close behind him as he exited. Rarity was now dry and her hair made proper, Spike was sitting on twilight as they walked. “Right, so now all we need to do is just kill some time, take some notes and have some fun!”
Twilight smiled, “finally a simple day out.” She thought. No more having to save the world, just a day when they could relax with The Doctor. She was about to voice her thoughts, but was stopped by a bright light from behind them. “Um… Doctor.” Everypony, and a baby dragon, turned to where TARDIS had been. “Where’s the TARDIS.”
“That’s… oh.. That’s… not good… but, wait, I turned the breaks on!” The Doctor yelled stamping his hoofs at where it used to be. “The TARDIS can’t just fly its self… it has to be here! That doesn’t make sense!”
“Doctor… I don’t think it flew away, I think it was teleported.” Twilight corrected.
“What? How do you know?” The Doctor was in a panic still looking for his TARDIS.
“Well, the bright flash of light kind of suggests that the TARDIS was just teleported through magic.”
“… oh… right.” The Doctor sighed as he turned his head. “Right then, new objective, we have to find my TARDIS.”
The group of ponies, and one dragon, all gave a nod of agreement while The Doctor looked back to where the TARDIS had once been.
**
“What?” The Doctor yelped in a confused tone. “What?!” he yelped, this time bit louder and confused. “WHAT?!” He finally yelled in a slightly high pitched tone as he galloped around the spot where his TARDIS had once been parked. The Doctor stopped his frantic gallop and turned to ditzy with a desperately puzzled look on his face. But, but, that’s impossible…” The Doctor said as he fell to his haunches.
“What happened to the TARDIS Doctor!” a worried Ditzy Doo yelled to the depressed looking Doctor.
“It’s- It’s gone. The last TARDIS in the universe, and it’s just vanished out of thin air. The Doctor got up off his haunches and put on a pair of black framed glasses. He stood here his TARDIS once was and held a hoof out over the area. He made slight movements, as if trying to feel for something that wasn’t there.
“What are you doing Doctor?” Ditzy asked with confusion.
“I am checking for residual energy. A long time ago, I had my TARDIS pulled out of existence by an extremely powerful force. However, all the power that was needed to move my TARDIS and other objects left a large field of residual energy. The field has a metallic taste and if you hold your hoof out, it would tickle a bit.” The Doctor explained as he continued to hold his hoof over there spot.
“But, I don’t taste anything Doctor.” Ditzy said as she attempted to taste the air around her. “In fact, I can’t feel anything either.” She said as she sat down next to The Doctor and held her hoof next to his.
“That’s exactly it Ditzy. The only force I have seen that can move something without leaving large, noticeable amounts of residual energy is teleportation via magic.” The Doctor got up and held a hoof to his chin. “And even if it was that, it would take near impossible amounts of magic power to move a TARDIS.”
The earth bound Time Lord blinked. After turning to Ditzy Doo, he looked back at where his TARDIS used to be. “But, what can teleport a TARDIS? I mean, It’s Time Lord technology, it’s not as simple or as small as a pony. That would take a lot more Magic then I’ve seen in a long time.” The surprised Doctor explained.
Ditzy Doo shrugged, she was a Pegasus, her understanding of Magic extended to how the weather was made, and that was about it. “I didn’t even know a TARDIS could be teleported.”
“First, we hit something inside the time vortex… and that is very strange… but now, now something takes my TARDIS?! None of this is making much sense… it’s all very... hectic.”
Ditzy Do nodded “well maybe there’s a bright side to all this?”
“What possible bright side could there be? We are stranded in this place for what could be forever!” The Doctor asked his longtime companion.
“Well…” Ditzy thought as she tapped a hoof to her chin. “Maybe they have a place where we could get some muffins.” Ditzy cheered with an affirming nod.
“Ditzy…Wait a moment, that is actually a good idea. I am a bit hungry after our little run in with the Grognots on Sempori Alpha earlier today.” The Doctor said, looking back at the area where his TARDIS once had been parked. He was stressed and deeply upset that it was gone, but The Doctor’s TARDIS key hadn’t started to glow, meaning the TARDIS was still very much on this time line. His bet was that it was still somewhere inside the museum.
**
The Doctor and his companions trotted through the museum, observing the exhibits as they passed them.
Pinkie Pie bounced along with the others. “So, Doctor, have you ever been to this place before?”
The Pegasus stallion laughed a little. “No, Pinkie, if I went to places I had been before, it would be boring. Every day needs to be a new adventure with me, but that could be difficult if I am stuck here… with time passing normally… and in the right order…” The Doctor though about what his life would be like if he was to be stuck here. Just the idea bored him. “We need to find my TARDIS.” He said with unusual seriousness.
“Oh, time passing normally, isn’t that bad Doctor? After all, if time didn’t pass normally for most of us, then you would use your time machine to live your life linearly.”
The Doctor paused for a moment. “I am impressed, Pinkie.”
“Why, because I am right?” Pinkie said with a blinking smile.
“No, because you know what linearly means.” The Doctor said resuming his stride.
“Well, that was rude.” Spike said with a low growl to his voice.
Pinkie shrugged it off. “He just needs to turn that frown upside down, and we could do that with a party!”
“No, Pinkie, he is just upset. He doesn’t like not knowing where he parked.” Twilight cut in. “He is bound to be a little rude because of that.”
**
“OOOOOH, Doctor look, muffins!” Ditzy Doo had found the cafeteria, and with it, a delicious smelling batch of freshly baked muffins.
“You don’t find anything a little odd about this, do you?” The Doctor asked.
“Oh, what do… you mean?” Ditzy spoke between mouthfuls of muffins, crumbs falling from her chin.
“Those are fresh, as in they were just made fresh. The museum is closed, or at least we have yet to see a single life form. This place...” The Doctor stamped a hoof, the sound echoing through the tall hallways. “…is completely empty except for us.”
“More for me then!” Ditzy said as she wiped the last of the crumbs from her muzzle with a hoof.
“No, Ditzy… what I am trying to say is who makes muffins in a cafeteria and then disappears without eating or selling them, and above all, in the middle of a closed museum. This day is really not making much sense to me.”
“Oh come on, Doctor. You have said it yourself, everything happens for a reason.”
“Yes, Ditzy, but that doesn’t mean you can just sit back and relax...” The Doctor dropped his muffin and took another look around the empty cafeteria. “…especially when you don’t understand it.” The Doctor spoke his tone grave.
“Fine, if you want I can have a fly around and see if I can find anything.”
“Actually… that would be wonderful. Oh! But stay where I can see you.” The Doctor warned the grey pegasus.
Ditzy got ready to take off, stretching her wings before she unfolded them and jumped into the air. Her take off was gentle, hardly making a sound as she leapt into the air. She slowly soared upwards. The way she moved was a graceful glide. Her wings never flapped except for when she would flap them once or twice to gain altitude; otherwise she used the currents generated by the ventilation system to move.
**
“Rainbow could you do me a favor and fly upwards; take a look around?” The Doctor asked politely.
“You bet I can!” Rainbow stretched, pounding her hooves against the ground as her wings unfolded and she launched herself skyward, her powerful wings pushing her up with ease and raising a powerful wind as she went. Suddenly, the rainbow maned pegasus collided with a gray pegasus.
Both crashed to the ground in a heap. The grey Pegasus rubbed her head. “Ow, will you watch where you’re going! And obey the speed limit will ya’!?”
“It’s the sky, there is no speed limit! You were just moving too slow.” Rainbow rubbed her head in response.
Soon the rest of the group was running up towards rainbow at the front of the charge the Pegasus Doctor. “Rainbow what-…oh no.”
Ditzy Doo blinked, looking up her eyes still trying to focus to the point where she wasn’t seeing double. “Doctor, when did you get wings?” was she delusional? Ditzy had to be. The Doctor was an earth pony, after all.
And that’s when the earth pony Doctor ran up. “Ditzy, are you okay?”
“Yeah I’m fine Doctor… but I think I’m seeing double.”
“What are you-” The Doctor stopped looking at another tan pony, with a dark mane, staring at him intently the two doctors circled each other for a moment.
“-What?” The Doctor responded in a tone similar to earlier. “What?!” His voice this time was a little higher and surprised sounding. He took a closer look at his pegasus counterpart. “What!?” He yelped, again, more high pitched and surprised sounding than the first two. The Doctor got a grip on the situation spoke to the pegasus Time Lord “You… You shouldn’t be here.”
“No, I should say the same to you.” The pegasus Doctor said in response. “You- I mean, I was never here, and there for you shouldn’t be here.”
“Oh, so you are after me… how many after me do you know who I am, Doctor?” The earth pony replied.
“Oh yes, Doctor, I remember you. Always getting into trouble, like we are now. I mean, we are in the same timeline. This cannot possibly-”
“Yes we will get to that, but first, is that really what I’ll look like?” The Earthbound Doctor cut in.
“Yes, and I take it from the sound of your voice, you don’t approve?”
“Well… it’s not a unicorn.”
“Well, I have wings now… wings are cool.”
“I suppose… if you like that kind of thing.”
“Enough!” Twilight Sparkle cried out, ultimately ending the two Doctors’ standoff. “Will somepony please explain what is going on here!”
Ditzy had finally regained her eyesight, but still couldn’t believe what she was seeing. “It seems that there are two Doctors… in the same day…in the same place…”
“Wait, how can there be two of them? I mean, yes, he’s a time traveler, but how?” Twilight blinked looking from the earth pony to the pegasus. “I mean, yes, they look alike and have the same cutie mark, but one’s a pegasus and the other’s an earth pony.”
“You haven’t told them about that yet?” The earth pony Doctor blinked, looking to his pegasus counterpart.
“Well I kind of did, but I didn’t go over all the facts. I mean, regeneration is a complicated thing, and I was still trying to figure out who I was… and the things all became piled up.”
“Enough!” Twilight cried out again. “I don’t care how it happened! I only want to know, what happens now.”
“I… have no idea.” Both doctors looked at each other, seemingly startled for a moment after having spoken in unison.
“This day is really going to make my brain hurt.” Spike said putting a claw to his face.
