This is not a proper story chapter. This is purely documentation written on the point of view of Twilight Sparkle. You can safely skip over this chapter and not miss any big plot points if your only here for the story. However, I did want to add in these segments where Twilight reviews things that have been noted about Changeling behavior in the story so far. Think of this more as a review then a proper chapter. There will be additional information in these chapters that I just could not fit into the main story; mostly because it's information that either wasn't relevant to what was going on, or it just doesn't fit in with the main story's plot. Regardless, expect these to be EXTREMELY short chapters; at best upwards to 500 words if even that. These aren't meant to be proper chapters; just something to chew on while I work on some chapter that I'm struggling to not make short and/or rushed.

In any given changeling hive, there are two critical types of changelings: Royal Changelings; which are few and far between; and drones. While female changeling drones are fully capable of reproduction of additional changelings, this output is nowhere near as much as the Queen Changeling's output. This chapter will focus more on a hive's drones, rather than the royal changelings.

When a drone egg is first laid, the current King & Queen changeling discuss what occupation that changeling will have before the egg hatches into a new drone. This occurs even when the egg is that of two changeling drones, however if those changelings drones carry the same occupation, it will increase the odds that that specific changeling drone will end up with the same occupation; but it won't always be the case, and Pharynx is a good example of this.

His parents were both infultrators, but he was instead assigned initially to being a farmhand. Pharynx so far though, is the only known changeling drone who managed to convince the current ruler of his hive to transfer him to a different occupation, that being the soldier division. But this is more of an exception to the rule then the norm period as it is; most changelings stick to their newly assigned occupations without any signs of wanting something different. In fact, it's supposed to be a hard law that all changelings are supposed to stick to their assigned occupation as showing any signs of wanting something different gets you attacked by the soldier division's cadets as a way of putting you in your place.

The situation in regard to Pharynx though is unique, as he was transferred because the soldier cadet that challenged him was initially deemed fit enough to become an Elite Soldiers, who are not only the current ruler's personal bodyguards, but they are also highly skilled, highly trained changeling warriors meant to be conditioned that way from birth to death. Pharynx's transfer to the division occurred because he had managed to defeat a cadet who was promising to be one of these Elite Soldiers when Phayrnx was doing personal training, hoping to somehow transfer into the division which isn't supposed to happen in the first place.

Like I stated though, this is more of the exception then the rule to how Changeling Drones are treated. Farming is as you expect, and infiltrators are supposed to find creatures to leech love off of and bring it back to the hive. A general law is that you're not supposed to impersonate a living pony though. A law that Queen Chrysalis broke because of a love shortage, but this makes no excuse for her actions.
