Pinkie the Listener

"And then she said 'who do you think you are to speak to me like that?'", said Scootaloo, as she walked in the park with her heroine, Rainbow Dash. The sun hid behind the clouds, creating an awesomely cloudy scenery.

"And what did you do?", asked Rainbow Dash. Not in the mood to just fly everywhere, she opted to just walk around, to not lose track of her #1 fan.

"Well, I turned around and said 'I'm the one who got a better grade than you in dancing class'. She turned all red afterwards, I don't know if it was from anger or shame."

"Haha, that's nice! Those popular, snobby schoolfillies just can't get enough of ashaming others. It's nice to see the tables turn every once in a while."

"Hey, girls.", said Fluttershy, who was walking in the opposite direction. "Beautiful day we're having, isn't it?"

  "Yeah... where are you going?"

"Nowhere... just a casual walk down the street. It helps relieve my stress."

  "That's nice..."

  "I gotta go. Goodbye!"

Scootaloo just watched the whole scene, as Rainbow Dash stared at the cute yellow pegasus, as she skipped along the path.

  "Ahem...", coughed Scootaloo.

"Oh!", exclaimed Rainbow Dash. "Right, where were we?"

"That's all I had to say... I got a question, though."

  "Go ahead."

  "Do you like Fluttershy?"

  "Who doesn't?"

"I mean, do you like her in a special way?"

  "Oh... that way. Yeah, kinda."

"Every time you see her, you just stop dead on your tracks, your face turns red, your wings go up, you sweat a lot more than usual, and you can't seem to stop looking at her. 'Kinda' is not the answer to that."

"*sigh* Fine, I'll tell you the truth: I love Fluttershy, like I have never loved anypony else. We're such good friends, and just seeing her makes everything worth it. She's just so cute... the way she talks and walks, the way she treats everyone with respect... the way she is about everything. Sure, she can be rather tricky to deal with sometimes, but everypony has a downside, right? Not to mention her rockin' body..."

  "You should ask her out."

"... you know what? That's what I'm gonna do. It's been over five years now, and I shall do something about this before somepony else takes her from me."

"I think it's goodbye for now, right?"

"Sorry, but yes. This is really important to me."

  "It's okay. Goodbye then!"

Scootaloo waved at the blue pegasus, who waved back as she flew outside of the park.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

"... and that's all.", said Rainbow Dash to Twilight, who was quite surprised at her friend's feelings for the pink-maned pegasus.

"Wow, Rainbow...", said Twilight. "... although I'm happy for you coming out of the closet, I don't know how I can help you with Fluttershy."

"Don't you have any advice, or something like that?"

"I have never experienced this kind of love in my life, so I don't know how it feels."

"Really? You and Trixie have so much in common."

"Okay, let's end this conversation before it goes too far. I think Pinkie Pie can help you out."

"Pinkie Pie? She just wants to party all the time."

"She's way more sociable than both of us combined. I heard she's a great cupid as well..."

"... okay, I'll talk to her. Thanks for helping me out through this."

As Rainbow Dash exited the library, Twilight turned to Spike, with a checklist in his hand.

"This will be the best Valentine's Day ever!", commented Twilight, as Spike nodded and checked something on the checklist.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Rainbow Dash couldn't find Pinkie Pie anywhere. She wasn't home, but then again, she's never home in weekends. The thing is, Pinkie couldn't be found anywhere. Rainbow knew she was there, though, or she would have been warned about it. Rainbow decided to stop for some donuts, and bam. There was Pinkie Pie. Rainbow felt a little frustrated, but her feelings were interrupted by Pinkie Pie, who was waving for her to sit next to her.

"Hey, Dash!", said Pinkie Pie, with a box full of donuts by her side. "Nice to see you here! Want a donut?"

"Thanks, Pinkie.", said Rainbow Dash, taking a donut from the box. "I want to talk to you about something... really important."

"Important? Don't worry, I'll take it as seriously as a physics test."

"Um... okay. You know... I kind of have a crush on someone."

  "Oooh, who's the lucky one?"

  "It's a filly."

"Nice to know... but who is she?"

"She's one of our best friends."

  "... Twilight?"

  "Nope, not even close."

  "Rarity?"

"I don't even like unicorns in the first place. Besides, she's 100% straight."

"Okay, so unicorns are out of the question... Applejack?"

"Yeah, she's cute, but I'm not that much into her."

  "Ooh! Ooh! Is it me??"

"Haha, no. You're running out of options now..."

  "... Derpy Hooves?"

"Pinkie, I'm in love with Fluttershy! Is it that hard to figure out?!"

"Heehee, I was just messin' with you, silly! So, Fluttershy is your choice for a marefriend? I'm sure you two would look great together."

"Yeah... the problem is that I don't know if she likes me the same. I was wondering if you could help me."

"Are you kidding? Of course I'll help you!"

  "Thanks a lot, Pinkie!"

"Although I'm not sure if I have the time to do anything..."

Pinkie pointed to the door, as Rainbow's eyes followed the way to see Fluttershy coming to sit next to her two friends.

"Looks like your chance has arrived, Dashie!", said Pinkie Pie.

"Haha...", laughed Rainbow Dash, nervously. "... I think so..."

"Hey, girls.", said Fluttershy, sitting awkwardly close to Rainbow Dash. "How's it going?"

"Just fine!", said Pinkie Pie. "Right, Dashie?"

"Heh... yeah...", said Rainbow Dash, with her wings completely up. "... just perfect..."

"Are you sure?", said Fluttershy. "You look kind of nervous..."

"Well, I... um... I don't know how to say this..."

"Dashie's got her fancies on you.", said Pinkie Pie, while taking another donut from the box.

"What?!", said Fluttershy, blushing heavily. "Rainbow... is that true?"

"*sigh* Yes... it's all true.", said Rainbow Dash. "It's been quite some time now, and I thought I should tell you about it. You're the cutest pony I have ever seen. Every time I see you, doing things by your special way, I just want to go over there and hug you as hard as possible. We're such good friends as well, and you have helped me through lots of scary situations that I wouldn't be able to get out of if it weren't for you. I love the way you talk as well..."

"... not to mention your amazing body.", said Scootaloo, who was conveniently passing by.

"... yeah, there's that too. I should have mentioned it before. Anyway, I love you, Fluttershy. Will you, please, go out with me?"

"I... I don't know...", said Fluttershy, completely red in the face. "I... I don't think I'm ready for this. Maybe in a few months?"

  "Oh... alright... I guess."

"Now, if you'll excuse me... I gotta take care of... some stuff... somewhere. See you in... another time?"

  "See ya."

"I hope you're not mad at me..."

  "No, I'm not..."

As Fluttershy went through the door, Rainbow dropped her face on the table, while Pinkie Pie enjoyed her donut box.

"... I'm mad at myself.", said Rainbow Dash. "I can't believe I just let her go like that!"

"Hey, look at the bright side...", said Pinkie Pie. "... you'll get her in a few months."

"Don't you understand? She'll never look at me the same way now! What if she hates me deeply, to the point of killing me?!"

"Come on now, I'm sure she likes you just the same as before."

"First the Wonderbolts, and now this... who am I kidding? I'm just a worthless hunk of slime."

"What are you gonna do now?"

"I don't know... maybe I'll blow my brains out."

"Or maybe you should go bowling instead."

  "Heh, nice one."

"I've got a notepad full of these."

"Thank you, Pinkie... but I don't think I want to feel happy right now. I think I'll go home."

"Promise me you won't kill yourself."

"I won't. I'll just bring up another dream, so I can spend my time chasing it, just to ruin everything in the end."

As Rainbow Dash walked through the door, Pinkie Pie looked around to see that there was not a single pony in the donut shop, besides her and Derpy Hooves, now a part-time waitress. That was her second job in less than a month.

  "Poor Rainbow...", said Pinkie Pie.

"Pinkie...", called Fluttershy, coming back inside, having heard the whole conversation through one of the walls. "... there's something I need to tell you."

"Rainbow Dash just left here, heartbroken to pieces..."

"Yeah, about that... I... love her too."

  "... really?"

  "Yes."

"Then why did you say no?!"

"Ugh... I know. I'm the stupidest pony in Equestria."

  "You're not that dumb."

"Stupid! STUPID!", said Fluttershy, bashing on her head.

"Okay, stop hitting yourself. It's a simple mistake, and it has a solution."

"You don't understand! I'm a fucking idiot! Excuse the swearing, but it's the truth. I should've just said, 'yes, I would LOVE to go out with you, and I want to kiss you as badly as you do'. She's not only one of my best friends, she's, like, one of my best best friends... you know where I'm going with this?"

  "Yes... go on."

"Well, now I don't know if she'll ever want to talk to me again, after what I said. I wish someone would come along and stick a pitchfork through my brain."

  "Don't say that."

"She's done so much for me... Pinkie, she saved me from freaking suicide. That's something to be grateful for, during your whole life. And now, I just ruined hers. Go me."

"Why don't you go home and get some rest? Maybe you'll have a really nice dream about that sexy little pony you love so much.", joked her.

"Haha, yeah... thanks for listening to me, Pinkie Pie. I'm sure tomorrow's gonna be a much better day."

  "Trust me... it will."

Pinkie Pie gave Fluttershy a friendly peck on the cheek, as she fluttered out of the building.

"This will be easier than I thought...", said Pinkie Pie, as she took the last donut from the box. Next Chapter: Operation Sleepover Estimated time remaining: 15 Minutes
