After a while, she got good at hiding it, but that didn't mean it went away.
Ever since she'd been found, something had been off. Like she didn't belong. No amount of achievements changed it, and no amount of confidence smothered it. She'd look to the sky, and yearn to be there. She'd see a cloud and reach out to it, wishing she could feel it, wishing she could move it. The itch between her shoulder blades would flare up at the worst times, and in her dreams, she would see memories of a life not lived.
No matter what, it was beyond her to escape, and at the same time, part of her felt like escaping it would leave her empty inside.
This is the story of Indigo Zap, the girl who yearned to fly.
But how does one fly with nothing but phantom wings?
