Chapter 1: Entry #001: Slendermane

Entry #001: Slendermane

Since I live on the border of the Everfree, sometimes I get some... interesting visitors seeking shelter. One of the ones I remember the most was something I have come to know as Slendermane.

I was out in the garden, checking the bird feeders, when an odd feeling of being watched took hold of my mind. Something almost like static started to fuzz over my vision, and I vaguely remember a screaming drone ringing in my ears. Against all my instincts, I turned around to seek the source of the noise.

It was a pony, or something along those lines. It was a pure white, from head to hind, and was wearing what appeared to be a black tuxedo shirt. My deepest instincts told me to run, as far away and as fast as I could, but some other nagging voice told me to keep it in my sights.

"E-excuse me?"

It did not respond, simply tilted it's head.

"A-are you a-a-alright?"

It flicked an ear, and the drone dropped a few tones, almost becoming a moan.

"You're h-hurt, aren't you?"

It gave a very slight nod, which I wouldn't have seen unless I was looking for it. I realized, as it started to walk forward, that is was much taller than the average pony. It also had a long, vertical gash on one foreleg, which was slowly ebbing black blood.

The closer it got, the louder the ringing became. It was almost as tall as two of me, and the ambiance it created made my eyes water.

And then it was right in front of me, close enough to feel the coldness seeping from its skin.

It lowered its head, looking me in the eyes - despite it not having any - and the noise and blurriness just... stopped. The regular noises of the daytime returned, the colors shone brightly, and it just knelt there, blood still running down its leg.

It didn't take me long to find all the bandages, and the noise didn't return as it waited for me. I had it bandaged up in mere minutes - it didn't struggle like most patients, and remained quite still through even the disinfectant spray - and once I had stepped back, it stood up quickly.

Without looking back, it loped away into the Everfree, the keening static returning for a few moments during the last moments I saw of it.

I have not seen it since, and I could not identify what caused the wound.
