The Brother's Legacy: Book One: "Family Ties"
Chapter 1: Chapter 1: Welcome to Ponyville
Load Full Story Next Chapter Endless grass and dirt stretched for miles in every direction as I found myself stumbling around in a thick haze. My wings were broken, one fractured, and one snapped in half. My hooves were torn open and bloody. I looked at my normally dark deep red skin, which was now purple from bruises. There was blood stains and scars all going across my flank and my back. I was running on sheer adrenaline. I was panting heavily wherever I was going.
I just knew I had to keep going, never look back, never turn back.
My vision started to fade ... More ... More... Then gone.
I heard unfamiliar voices from all around me. I was conscious, but barely. I couldn't open my eyes, or move anything, nor could I feel my body. I layed there unable to move.
"Ah sure hope he's fine."
"He's gonna be fine... I hope."
The voices drained out, and I fell asleep...
I awoke to the sound of their voices. I was unable to tell how much time had lapsed, so I stayed completely still some more. As I grew bored, I soon found I could move the tips of my wings and my hooves.
At that moment, I was able to comprehend the voices I've been hearing.
"What d'ya think, doc?"
"He's going to be just fine."
I continued to lie there still... My mind daydreamed a minute, then blacked out into another much needed sleep.
I soon found myself able to think again. This time I could actually move my sore body. I decided to open my eyes for the first time in who knows how long. What I saw when I opened my eyes, was a big blur of colors. I managed to sit up too, but my muscles screamed at me that I was still hopelessly sore.
"Howdy, partner." I heard a voice say.
"Um... Hi there...” a quiet familiar voice said. These voices were the ones I had heard before when I was laying down. I was encouraged to try to speak. But first I tried to say something, anything.
"Ughh...” At least I knew my voice worked. A third voice, a nurse, I'm assuming, said, "What are you doing up? You still need plenty of rest!" she said with her cheery voice. And I felt hooves gently push me back into a laying down position. I just relaxed my body wondering who these people are, where I am, and how did I end up here?
I woke up. This time I felt normal, brand new, in fact. I could see clearly and move my muscles freely. I opened my eyes to see an orange pony with a yellow mane and a hat, and a yellow pegasus, like me, but this one was yellow with a pink mane and tail. I couldn't see her face, because her hair was covering it.
"Howdy again. Ah found you sleepin' in my Sweet Apple Acres, and Ah couldn't wake ya up, so Ah got help."
"Um, hello there." the yellow pegasus said. "I'm... Fluttershy, and this is my friend Apple Jack."
"Ah'm mighty pleased to meet you, partner."
I just sat there, taking it all in trying to say something, but I didn't know what to say, so many questions. What do I say first? I started, "Hello Fluttershy. Hello Apple Jack. I'm Vivace Volante. W...-where am I?"
Fluttershy spoke. "You're in the hospital of course."
"Don't y'all know Ponyville had a hospital?"
That there answered that question. I somehow had passed out in Sweet Apple Acres, and someone found me, Apple Jack, I think it was, got help, and I ended up here.
I had another question though. How much time had gone by? A day? Two days? "Um, how long has it been since I... I um...”
"Since you came here?" Fluttershy answered, "Two weeks today."
So that was it, two whole weeks of my life gone by just like that. Whether I liked it or not, I was here in Ponyville, wherever this place is.
"Sorry y'all, but since you're all better, Ah gotta git back to my apple bucking. See y'all." She left the room, and I tried to strike up a conversation with Fluttershy.
"What's there to do in Ponyville?" I asked.
"Well... Uh, my friend, Pinkie Pie, is throwing a family party sometime soon. Bring your family and just party, as she says. Are you going to go?"
"Well I probably would, if I had a family."
"Um, what?"
"- I uh... mean here! If I had a family here!" Nice save. I tried my best to hide my emotions from showing.
"Hm... If you want to, that is... If you don't want to go, I can just tell Pinkie... But um... I think you should go when you're better ... I mean if you want."
"Flutterhshy, of course I'll go."
"Oh, you will? That's great!"
Even though she sounded excited, it still sounded almost like a whisper. I felt much better, but I felt like I still needed sleep. This time, I fell asleep with something to look forward to.
