The Twins' Worst Birthday

Mickey and his friends were working as fast as possible to get everything ready for a special day. Minnie's twin nieces, Millie and Melody, were turning eight years old and the party was being held at the clubhouse. Daisy was keeping watch with the telescope and saw the twins arriving early. She hollered down to alert the others.

"They're here!"

Minnie was startled to hear that they were early, and quickly formed a plan to keep everything a surprise. She and Mickey rushed outside and told the twins that they were taking them fishing while the preparations were being finished. The twins were surprised by this but went along with them to the lake. No-one knew that the day was about to get crazy, or that trouble was brewing. As Melody was reeling in a catch, a loud crash of thunder made her heart jump in her mouth and she staggered backwards in the boat. Minnie looked up and saw dark storm clouds forming. Mickey saw six strange aircrafts fly overhead and drop something into the woods that started fires. Soon, rain was pouring like nobody had ever seen.

"We need to get off the lake and get back to the clubhouse, FAST!", cried Minnie.

She and Mickey started rowing back to the dock, but the rain was making it harder. A gust of wind blew the boat sideways and capsized it in the water. Mickey managed to jump out before the boat had completely turned over, but he was the only one who escaped. Minnie's life jacket got snagged on one of the oarlocks, Millie's right arm got caught in the towline, and Melody hit her left leg on her seat and was left in pain. Before she was dragged down all the way, Minnie called out to Mickey.

"GET HELP, QUICK!"

Mickey nodded and swam to the dock.

"Oh, Toodles!", he hollered.

Toodles came in a flash. After asking what was going on, he was told that Minnie and her nieces were in trouble. Toodles indicated that everyone else had seen the fires start and ran inside. He used his digital recorder to write a call for help and then hurried back to the clubhouse to launch a small rocket with the disc on board. Mickey was nervous that it was too late.

The Mysterious Meteor

It had been three months since Twilight was crowned Equestria's new ruler. All was going well and some of her allies in the Christian Fleet had come to visit. Gallus had also joined the guard at the royal palace. One evening, Gallus came running into the throne room with a look of panic in his eyes.

"Princess Twilight, a meteor has come out of nowhere and crashed in the center of the Everfree Forest. Fraaz and Colin have put out the fire, and Brandon and Link have broken the meteor apart. They have found something inside and are bringing it here."

Twilight acknowledged what Gallus had told her and Brandon arrived with Link about thirty minutes later. Link was carrying what looked like a compact disc that had no markings on it. Brandon had a playback device.

"Was the disc inside the meteor?", Twilight asked.

Brandon nodded and began explaining what was on it.

"This disc appears to have an audio file on it, but the initial recording is extremely staticky and difficult to make out. Take a listen."

He put the disc in the player and pressed the play button and the speaker started putting out a message that was very fuzzy. However, Twilight was able to hear what sounded like someone speaking.

"Pl---- hel- -s. The we--her h-s my--e-i-us-y t-rn-d -r-m s-n-y to a t-rr--le -hu-d-rs-o-m -it- a -o-d b-ng. -nk-ow- -ir--af-s h-v- al-- f-ow- -y, dr-p-i-g -bj-ct- in-- t-e w-ods t-at h-v- -ta-t-d -ag-n- f--es."

Twilight was puzzled. She could not understand what was being said.

"Here is the message again, only with the static filtered out.", Brandon explained as he put a second disc in.

"Please help us. The weather has mysteriously turned from sunny to a terrible thunderstorm with a loud bang. Unknown aircrafts have also flown by, dropping objects into the woods that have started raging fires."

Twilight was shocked. She remembered that Satan had designed a special bomb that could induce severe weather, and she knew that the war against him was long over. However, she wondered if some of his soldiers had gotten separated and lost contact.

"Any idea where this came from?"

"Good question, Twilight. I have tracked the path of this to a lonely star in deep space. We have tried to study this star several times, but our equipment keeps getting overloaded. Since the capsule that the disc was in came from this spot, I am led to believe that the star is actually a hidden wormhole. Star coordinates are X: 22, Y: 19, Z: 57. If this is a wormhole, we are about to discover where it leads.", Link explained.

Twilight sent word to her friends and to Flurry Heart to meet at the launchpad for the space station where the Harmony was docked. She then informed Cadence that she was being called out for a mission and that she needed her to take her place until she got back.

As the countdown started, Link and his crew mates were beamed back up to the Lemurian Star. Once the Harmony was ready to fly, both ships warped to the strange star and began examining it further. After a long time, Link's calculations finally proved that this star really was a wormhole. Determined to find out what was going on, both crews entered the wormhole and were pulled through a stream of flying colors in crazy designs until they found themselves in the sky above a dense forest. They started dropping heat shields to contain the fires and then landed to find who sent the call for help.

Arrival At The Clubhouse

Some of Brandon's crew mates took off on personal ships and helicopters to gather water for putting out the forest fires. Others followed him to an interesting looking structure. They could not see much through the rain, but they were able to make out a red hemisphere with windows, a long corridor with a yellow door shaped like a shoe, and a large black sphere with two smaller spheres at the top. Brandon knocked at the door and was greeted by Donald Duck.

"Did you call for help?", Brandon asked loudly over the pounding rain.

Donald said yes and let the visitors inside. After a short introduction, Brandon realized that two of the friends were missing.

"Wait a second, where are Mickey and Minnie?", he asked.

"There's a lake out that-a-way. They took Minnie's twin nieces fishing so we could finish decorating for their birthday party. The crazy weather hit before they got back.", Goofy explained as he pointed out one of the windows.

"Link, you're with me. We will take my ship and save them. Twilight, take your friends and help the others to keep the fires away from the clubhouse. Colin, you and Fraaz take to the air and shoot down the attackers."

Everyone acknowledged the instructions and Link handed a signal flare to Donald.

"If there comes an emergency here at the clubhouse, shoot this flare to let us know.", he said calmly.

Donald nodded his head and everyone split up. Brandon pulled out a remote to bring his ship overhead by radio control. Once the Odyssey was above them, Brandon entered a code to drop two harnesses. He and Link put them on and were hoisted up to the ship. They flew in the direction of the lake and landed ten feet away from the dock. Mickey saw them coming and ran over once they had dropped the loading ramp.

Rescuing Minnie and The Twins

"Thank goodness you are here. I was the only one who managed to avoid getting pulled down by the boat. I don't know what I will do if I lose Minnie.", he said sadly.

Brandon and Link had put on their wetsuits and diving booties before dropping the ramp. Link pulled out his flashlight and started looking around for any signs of Minnie and her nieces.

"LOOK THERE!", he yelled as he saw something come to the surface of the lake for a moment.

Brandon turned on his flashlight and shined it in the direction where Link was indicating. The light beam revealed a pink bow with white dots.

"Good eyes, Link. That's Minnie's bow. Hopefully it hasn't floated away from her."

Without hesitating, they ran to the edge of the dock. They looked down and saw black ears on either side of the bow. It was Minnie. She was struggling to keep her head up and wasn't having much success. She managed to get her head above the water for a moment and spat out some water that had gotten in her mouth.

"A little help here, please?", she said frantically.

"Quick, grab my hand, Minnie.", Brandon said as he laid down on the dock and reached down to her.

Minnie reached up, but her hand slipped loose. Link laid down beside Brandon and they caught her arms before she slipped under again.

"We've got you.", Link said as he and Brandon started pulling upward.

They pulled Minnie out of the water and tried to help her stand up. Unfortunately, Minnie could not feel her feet. They were numb from the cold temperature of the water. Realizing that Minnie had hypothermia, Brandon picked her up and cradled her in his arms. As they ran back, Minnie started sneezing from being so cold. After carrying Minnie aboard the Odyssey, Link opened a small bed and Brandon set her down.

"Are you alright, Minnie?", Mickey asked frantically.

"I'm exhausted from swimming to the surface and I'm cold and can't feel my feet. Other than that, I am okay.", she replied between sneezes as Brandon wrapped her in a heated blanket and Link gave them each a hot cup of tea.

"Were your nieces following close behind?", Link asked nervously.

When Minnie heard Link's question, she began to shudder in nervousness. Brandon calmed her down and asked what was wrong.

"They're trapped down there. I had to unbuckle my life-jacket in order to swim up. Millie's right arm is tangled in the boat's towline and Melody hit her left leg on her seat. I am led to believe that she is injured because she screamed when she struck the seat."

"We will swim down and free them." Link assured as he and Brandon began putting on their diving hoods and fins.

Then Brandon turned to Mickey as he deployed floats and moved the ship onto the lake.

"In the meantime, we need you to keep an ear to the radio for any calls from our crew mates, Mickey. If someone radios in, you must answer with "This is the Odyssey, go ahead"."

"What if I need to get the message to you?", Mickey asked.

"Put this on, it will allow you to talk to us.", Brandon replied as he handed Mickey a headset and Link lowered a ladder down to the water.

He and Link put their full-face masks on and then climbed down. After checking that their comms were working, they submerged and started swimming downward. They reached the boat in a matter of minutes and Link pulled out a knife to free Millie from the towline. Brandon pulled out a small air tube with a mouthpiece and had Millie put it in her mouth to breathe. Once Link had cut the towline and freed her, Millie pointed to the boat to indicate that Melody was underneath. However, her life jacket was torn and she looked to have pain in her arm, which prevented her from swimming up. Link radioed Mickey with an update.

"Millie can’t swim up because she may have an arm injury, and Melody's trapped underneath the boat. Brandon and Link need to lift it up in order to get to her.", Mickey told Minnie.

Brandon examined Millie’s arm and determined she had a shoulder dislocation. While he applied a splint, Link placed a prop under the side of the boat and started cranking it up. Once it was high enough to squeeze under, Brandon eased through and gave a second air tube to Melody.

"Put this in your mouth. It will give you enough air to breathe until you reach the surface."

Melody nodded and put the tube in her mouth. Looking at her leg through his x-ray goggles, Brandon saw that she had a simple fracture. Link propped the boat higher so that Brandon could pull Melody out to splint her leg. As they started swimming up, Mickey heard the radio go off.

"This is the Odyssey, go ahead."

"Mickey, you need to tell Brandon and Link that we just saw the flare as we took down the last attacker. I went to investigate and the clubhouse is on fire. I repeat, THE CLUBHOUSE IS ON FIRE!", Colin said frantically.

Mickey told Brandon and Link what was happening and they started to swim faster. As they swam up, Brandon told Mickey how to drop the rescue basket. Once they had boarded the Odyssey and dried off, Link closed the hatch, Mickey helped Melody into a wheelchair, and then gave her and Millie each a blanket, and Brandon took the yoke. They took off and flew in the direction of the clubhouse.

Putting Out The Fire

Through the window, they saw a bright glow from where the clubhouse was. As they got closer, they only saw flames.

"Oh yeah, it's cooking.", Link said as he looked closer through his binoculars.

"Colin, this is Brandon, I'm going to fly over and drop retardant foam to smother the flames."

Brandon tilted his ship forward into a dive and flicked a switch right before he passed over the clubhouse. Foam spilled from a tank and covered the top, choking out the huge flames around the ears. As he turned around, Link deployed six probes that attached to the roof with magnets. These probes were designed to monitor the roof's stability and alert the team if it was about to collapse.

"Stability probes are set!", Link shouted as Brandon landed the Odyssey.

After putting on their firefighting clothes, Brandon and Link joined Twilight and Flurry Heart on the ground. Link asked if everyone was accounted for, but Twilight shook her head.

"According to Donald here, the front hallway collapsed and trapped Daisy before she was able to get out. Also, my thermal scanner says there are still flames inside.", Flurry Heart reported.

"Lightning hit a tall tree which fell on the hallway. That's what caused the fire.", explained Donald.

Without hesitating, Brandon began breaking open the windows to let the smoke escape. Then he grabbed a chainsaw and cut the tree apart. Once enough smoke had gotten out, Fraaz and Link grabbed hoses and started shooting water inside the clubhouse to put the fire out while Colin started clearing the rubble so Brandon could get to Daisy. As Brandon was helping Daisy get to her feet, she groaned in pain. She had second-degree burns on her ankles. Luckily, Brandon verified with his x-ray goggles that she had no fractures. As he started bandaging her ankles, an alarm sounded from a device on Colin's belt.

"There is a possible explosion hazard near where Link is spraying water!", Colin said as Brandon looked at a layout of the clubhouse after securing the gauze on Daisy's ankles.

Mickey happened to be next to Brandon. When he saw where the hazard was, his heart jumped in his throat.

"Easy there, Mickey. You're overreacting.", Brandon said as he tried to calm Mickey down.

"That part of the clubhouse is where the "Mousekedoer" is located. There are pieces of it that can go unstable if overheated. That's also where Toodles recharges. You need to get him out.", Mickey screeched frantically.

Brandon put on his breathing mask and opened the oxygen valve, he ran inside and turned off all of the electricity in the clubhouse before trying to get Toodles. Unfortunately, extracting Toodles was easier said than done. He radioed Link for an electric screwdriver and a pair of bolt cutters because the latches that held Toodles in place had melted. Link rushed in and helped Brandon open the front panel. Once Brandon had cut the latches, he gave Link a thumbs-up. Spyro came to the window and started using his ice vapor to cool down the "Mousekedoer". Link pulled out a battery and some wires and started hooking them up to Toodles in hopes of performing a jumpstart. At the same time, Brandon took safety measures. He pulled out a remote control that was connected to a cargo transporter on the Lemurian Star and started beaming up all of the furnishings in the clubhouse. At the same time, Minnie's hypothermia subsided and she was able to stand up again. She joined her friends and her nieces under a pop-up tent that served as a medical area. After a few minutes, Link succeeded at jumpstarting Toodles and waking him up. Just then, Colin radioed in with bad news.

"GET OUT NOW! THE ROOF IS ABOUT TO COLLAPSE AND THE ICE IS NOT WORKING! THE MACHINE'S SENSITIVE PIECES HAVE DESTABILIZED TOO FAR! IT'S GOING TO BLOW!", he shouted.

Spyro turned around and ran from the window. Link and Brandon ran to the front door with Toodles following behind. When the roof fell in, one piece hit the "Mousekedoer" and the unstable components exploded in unison. Brandon and Link had to jump to either side in order to avoid the fireball. When the smoke cleared, everyone saw what had happened to the clubhouse. It was mostly destroyed. Mickey and his friends broke down in tears.

Rebuilding The Clubhouse

From far away, Professor Von Drake heard the explosion and started rushing to see what had happened. When he arrived, he was floored by what he saw. Only one-third of the red hemisphere, the front door, and parts of the roof were what was left of the clubhouse's above-ground portion. The underground portion had only sustained minor damage.

"What has happened here?", he asked with a terrified look in his eyes.

Mickey filled him in on everything as Brandon prepared a device to stop the thunderstorm. Once the storm had been neutralized, Brandon explained why his device worked.

"This was not a storm that started naturally. Our past enemy had created an aerial bomb that could induce severe weather when detonated. Luckily, we figured out how to counteract it."

Von Drake was shocked by what Brandon had just said. Some of Brandon's crew mates and allies were comforting Mickey's friends who were still in tears. Colin had used healing energy to instantly treat Millie's arm and Melody's leg.

"Worst birthday ever.", choked out Millie and Melody as Minnie gave them a hug.

Feeling sorry for the loss, Link started drawing up plans to rebuild the clubhouse. Mickey and his friends joined to help him once they had let out all of their sadness. The clubhouse would be rebuilt identical to how it was built originally, except there would be defense equipment added and the clubhouse would be fireproofed. Von Drake supplied blueprints and pieces with which to rebuild the "Mousekedoer".

Construction began the following week and progressed for many days and nights through rain and sunshine. As the "Mousekedoer" was being rebuilt, Brandon had an idea. He talked with Professor Von Drake and devised a way to rebuild the machine with pieces that had no risk factor of becoming unstable when exposed to heat. The alterations were successful and had no negative results during testing. Once the clubhouse was finished and the defenses were installed and calibrated, Brandon and his crew led the six friends through hard training to ensure that they knew how to properly operate the equipment. After they were certain that the training was successful, Brandon and his crew went back to the Lemurian Star. They returned in cargo helicopters carrying the furnishings from the clubhouse. In only two hours the furnishings were put back where they were to begin with, along with Minnie's flowers being replanted outside. When Minnie saw that her flowers were among everything that had been saved, she let out tears of joy.

Later on, Brandon shared a surprise design with Mickey and his friends. He was planning to build them a set of five starships that could combine into one larger ship. Everybody agreed and the ships were completed swiftly. Then it was time for each ship to be customized to each friend's liking. After testing to make sure the ships attached together correctly, hangars were constructed for each one and the Christians prepared to leave. The portal that the fleet used to reach the clubhouse was stabilized with a frame so that it would not emit the radiation that masked it as a star anymore. Mickey and his friends said goodbye and the Lemurian Star and the Harmony took off and returned to their dimension.
