Storm Thorn

   Chapter 1

     It was a dark evening, gray storm clouds were rolling in over Rose's home, she was very glum that evening.

Her mother noticed her sitting by the window sighing with her head down just staring out the window.

"Rose, come over here a moment." Rose sighed heavily and walked over to her mother.

"Yes?" She said glumly.

"Rose, may I talk to you."

"Yeah, of course. You don't see anyone else around here to talk to do you?"

"Not exactly,"

"Exactly."

"Well, Rose. Why are you so sad any-"

"Don't, finish, that sentence. I'll tell you. It's because of daddy. He hasn't been home in weeks." Rose sighed and a tear rolled down from her face.

"Rose, he may not be home now, but it doesn't mean he wont be a week from now."

"A week?! That's Hearth's Warming!"

"I know darling. But remember, we don't celebrate it."

Rose sighed. "I know, that's also what makes me sad."

"We would celebrate it, but we don't have enough money to buy gifts."

"Mom, that's not what it's about. You don't understand my pain as much as the next pony."

Her mom sighed. "Alright, we can still celebrate it."

"Thanks mom. I just hope dad will be home in time for Hearth's Warming. Because, he wasn't last year."

"I bet he will sweet heart. Now go up stairs and get some rest."

"Okay."
