Song and Silent

While the Wonderbolts soared through the air, the crowd roared in the stands. Ponies of all ages and experiences cheered.

But behind the stands, blocked from view, stood two Pegasi fillies. The taller one, with a purple coat and messy dull blue hair, paced back and forth, impatient and frustrated.

“Celestia, why are they so...happy?!” she growled.

The younger Pegasus, who was a tad shorter, had a dark blue coat and dull purple hair, shrugged.

“I dunno, but it’s getting annoying” she said, mirroring the other’s frustration.

The noise level went down at the sound of horns, signaling the end of the show. The older filly motioned to the younger one to follow.

“That’s our queue to leave,” she said. The two Pegasi flew off, frowning the entire way.

A few hours later, the two fillies arrived at their camp. It was hidden from travelers, known only to the two fillies.

The older one relit the campfire, the younger got out two slices of bread. They each sat down.

“That show was so boringggg” the younger one complained, biting into the stale bread. “I don’t know how ponies find those stupid flyers enjoyable. All they do is fly real fast! It’s not complicated. I can do that!” She flapped her wings quickly to make her point.

“Well, Silent Gust, I’ll tell you why. It’s cause those stupid ponies think that it’s fun to sit around and watch while a group of random Pegasi fly” the older one stated.

“Well it’s weird. And a waste of time” Silent Gust said. “Song Sprint, do you think that we would be able to get rid of it?”

“Not without some sort of spell or artifact. Otherwise those ‘mane six’ ponies would try to intervene” Song Sprint said. But even then, the Pegasi fillies knew what they wanted to do.

“Maybe that School of Friendship place has a library with information” Silent Gust wondered.

“How would we get inside, though?” Song Sprint asked. She looked up at the sky, as the sun was starting to set. She got an idea. “We could sneak in through one of the windows, once everyone else has left”.

Silent Gust thought for a moment, then nodded. “We should be one of our bags, so that no one sees the book if we somehow get caught”.

Song Sprint grabbed her bag, and put out the fire.

“Let’s go”

Author's Note

So Song Sprint and Silent Gust are inspired off of Cozy Glow. But don't worry, their stories will be different.

Artifacts and Annoyances

The fillies quickly found out that though sneaking in was easy, navigating the dark school without a map was nearly impossible.

Firstly, neither Pegasus could see anything. Considering that they had to search every room in the school to find the library.

But the major problem arose once they found the library. Not only was the lighting bad, but the library was much bigger than either filly had imagined. They began searching in the artifact and artifact history section.

After thirty minutes of searching, Song Sprint made a breakthrough.

"Hey sis, get over here" she called, motioning to her book. She pointed to a section in the book she was reading.

"Altering Artifacts" Silent Gust read aloud. "That might be promising".

"Yeah. So I've started reading about this artifact that can absorb and cancel emotions. I wonder what would happen if we cross-referenced this artifact with something else" Song Sprint wondered. Silent Gust picked up a copy of the book Song was reading. Flipping through the pages, she stopped at a page with a picture of an orb.

"Maybe this could work," Silent said. "This orb can hold in types of magic, and other forces".

"But where is it?" Song asked, looking over the artifacts. They would be no use if the sisters couldn't find them.

"Well, the orb, called 'Orb of Indifference', is located in…the Crystal Empire" Silent read.

"You're kidding…"

"Ugh. I'm not. That's so far! Where's yours?".

Song looked down, and her eyes widened in shock.

"The Monopolizer of Emotions can be found in the tunnel caves," Song said, showing Silent a photo.

"Isn't that right next to…"

"Yep. Home"

Silent slapped her hoof against her head. "How is that worse…"

Song grabbed both of the books, stuffing them in her bookbag. "Whatever. Let's just leave, and we'll start for the Crystal Empire and get that orb".

"Hello…is somepony there?" a voice asked, catching both of the fillies' attention.

"Quick, hide!" Song said, hiding behind a bookcase.

"Hello? I won't be mad, just tell me if you're in here"

The sisters peeked over the ledge, trying to find the speaker. Their eyes widened when they realized who it was.

"Starlight..?" Silent whispered. Starlight turned around, just as the sisters ducked out of view.

Thankfully, she left, shutting the door behind her. The fillies sighed in relief.

"That was way too close," Silent whispered, Song nodded.

"Come on. Let's get out of here before anyone else comes".

—----------------------------------------------------------

Flying out of the school, books in their possession, the fillies prepared to go back to camp. But before they could, they heard a shout from above.

"Hello there!" the voice said. The fillies looked up, spotting another Pegasus speeding towards them. They couldn't have been much older than Silent.

In a swift landing, the third Pegasus filly grinned. Neither sister could get a word in before they were bombarded with questions.

"Hi! I'm Raindrop, who are you two?! What were you doing inside the school? Were you on a tour!? Do they even do those? Where are you from? I'm from Cloudsdale, but I live at the school. I was just practicing my flying when I saw you! So hi!" stared at Raindrop, who was still smiling wide. Her mane covered the top half of her eyes, and there was a pink bandana around her neck. Her eyes were bright pink, fading into a lighter pink.

Song breathed in, narrowing her eyes. "My name is Song Sprint, and this is my sister, Silent Gust. No, we were just...checking out the school" she said.

"Oooo, sounds fun! Are you new students?" Raindrop said, cocking her head to the side.

"No, we were just looking around," Silent stated. They began to walk away. To their dismay, Raindrop followed.

"So what's in your bag?" Raindrop questioned.

"Books," Song sighed.

"Oh! You like to read? So does Headmare Twilight"

"I don't like it. I just do it"

Somehow, Raindrop's smile didn't falter. "Well, reading is good!"

Song and Silent were annoyed by the cheery filly. But then Silent had a thought.

"Wait…did you say you live in the School of Friendship?" Silent asked, faking interest. Raindrop grinned.

Information & Irritation

"Wait…did you say you live in the School of Friendship?" Silent asked, faking interest. Raindrop grinned.

"Yeah! I've even made a few friends! Would you like me to tell you about the professors?" Raindrop said. Song gave a devilish smile.

"Oh, please. Tell us everything" Song said.

"Well first, there's professor Fluttershy. She teaches kindness! She's very kind, even though I can't hear her sometimes. Then there's professor Rarity, she teaches generosity. She lets us make dresses! I like it, even though I'm not very good at it. Anyways, then there's professor Applejack, she does honesty. I also like her a lot, even though I'm not a huge fan of apples" Raindrop took a second to breathe, before continuing. "Then there's professor Dash, she teaches loyalty! She's part of the Wonderbolts, and I want to be one someday! Then there's professor Sparkle, she teaches magic. I like her lectures, but I can't really do magic. Pegasus and all. Then there is professor Pinkie Pie! She's my favorite teacher! I like the lesson of laughter!"

Despite there being a lot to take in, Song and Silent both were thinking of a plan. Raindrop was oblivious to this, and kept talking.

"Oh, I nearly forgot about counselor Starlight! She's super nice, and really powerful too! I like her hair, and she substitutes sometimes" Raindrop said. She didn't see the siblings' eyes narrow. Raindrop looked up at the sky, and her eyes widened.

"Oh shoot! I didn't realize how late it was! I oughta go to my dorm!" Raindrop turned to leave, but had one more thing to say. "I'll tell you what. I'll meet you guys back here tomorrow. Bye!"

Raindrop zoomed away, waving to Silent and Song.

"Maybe we could use her for our plan," Silent said.

"Yeah. We could"

—----------------------------------------------------------

The next morning, Raindrop rushed into Twilight's office.

"Headmare Twilight! Guess what!" Raindrop cheered. Twilight set her book down, looking at her student.

"What's up, Raindrop?" she questioned.

"I made two friends! Can you believe it?" Raindrop said.

"Oh, wow! That's amazing!" Twilight said. "What's their names?"

"Song Sprint and Silent Gust! We're gonna meet up again today"

"Well, I hope you have fun"

"Oh, we will!"

—----------------------------------------------------------

That night, Raindrop found Song and Silent outside the school. But she noticed that they both had saddle bags.

"Hiya you two! What's with the bags?" Raindrop asked.

"We're going to the Crystal Empire. To…get something" Song explained. Raindrop's eyes widened in surprise.

"Can I come?! Please?" Raindrop asked.

Song and Silent looked at each other. Raindrop would be really useful in their project, as a test subject, but…would she be too much of a nuisance?

"Wouldn't the other students notice you were gone?" Silent asked. Raindrop shook her head.

"Nah. Besides, I'll leave a note" Raindrop stated.

"Hm. Alright" Song nodded.

"Yay! Let me go get my bag!" Raindrop said, flying off.

About 30 minutes later, the three Pegasi fillies were flying to the Crystal Empire. The sisters quickly remembered how energetic Raindrop was.

"What do you guys like to do for fun?" Raindrop asked.

"We don't do anything for fun," Silent answered.

"Do you have any hobbies?" Raindrop asked again, seemingly not taking the hint.

"No" Song stated. Raindrop looked confused.

"Then…how did you get your cutie mark, Song?" Raindrop glanced over at Song's cutie mark, which was two sound waves, going in opposite directions.

Realizing Raindrop wasn't going to leave her alone, Song sighed. "I got my mark through echolocation. It helps me with navigating"

"Woah! Like a bat?"

"Yes, like a bat"

"That's so cool. I wish I had a cutie mark" Raindrop said, looking at her blank flank. Silent shrugged.

"I'm fine without a mark. No true need for one" she stated.

"I disagree. I think cutie marks are really cool! And pretty!"

"Isn't there anything you don't like?" Song asked, sarcasm in her voice. Raindrop didn't catch it.

"Not really. I like everything!" Raindrop said. Song and Silent rolled their eyes.

"Ugh. Let's just get to the Crystal Empire"
