Prologue: Stuck Rifts

This is taking longer than I thought…

The light peachy skin tone of the female, or at least what some people might think is female. Right now, said human girl had her head, flat down on her desk. A irritated groan, lightly muffled escaping her mouth.

The young, 24 year old human, silently raised her head up, some of her dark brown hair over her face. She quickly looked up at her drawing tablet and computer. Trying to figure out what to do, revealing her dark green eyes, staring at her computer with an annoyed look on her face.

“Still trying to figure out what to do?” A confused and concerned male voice spoke within the quiet of the room.

Startled by the voice speaking, the female girl flinched, quickly picking up her stylus she had, turning around in her chair and throwing the drawing pen out of fear. Which got a grunt out of the person she threw it at.

“Ow!” The grunt of her perpetrator, she looked up at him, immediately knowing who he was.

“Oh my god!” She quickly walked up and picked up the stylus, quickly backing up. “I am so sorry Bret, didn’t except you to show up this early.”

Bret, the 27 year old man, grunted, rubbing his head and looked up at her.

“It’s alright Liven,” He smiled, trying to reassure her that he was okay. “Just caught you off guard, wanted to try and surprise you.”

Liven, putting the stylus down on her desk, quickly looking up at Bret with a smile.

“Yeah I was surprised,” Liven stuck her tongue out, “I threw my stylus at you.”

Bret, making a karen type offended look, before smirking, he quickly grabbed Liven and pulled her into a hug.

“Cheeky…” Bret muttered. Bret being 6’4 and Liven being 4’7 made him more taller.

The hug lasted a bit before they both moved. Bret, looking over at the drawing tablet and computer, sighed.

“Have you gotten out of your artist block yet?” He asked, concerned for his friend mental health.

Liven sighed, “No…” She smiled reassuringly. “I’m sure I’ll think of something while your here for a few hours.”

Bret sighed, “5th time you said that this week, and look at where you are.”

Liven was about to retort, before she could however, Bret spoke up.

“Look, I care for you as a friend, and if anything you need a break.” Bret smiled. If anything he needed a break as well.

“Y-know what-“ Liven smiled. “Your right, come on let’s head out.”

With that, the pair headed outside, given the fact that they both lived in California, it’s normally hot, Liven wore her black sweater while Bret wore a T-Shirt and thin sweater.

“I’m still questioning how your not hot…” Bret asked Liven concerned.

“Well I mean,” Liven responded with a smirk on her face, “I’m always cold either way, inside or out.”

Bret rolled his eyes, can’t argue with that.

The two friends stood outside of Liven’s house, talking and chatting about. When this feeling of worry sunk in Liven’s gut.

Bret was a bit concerned as his friend, looked off with a uneasy look on her face. Looking out in the non busy street, not many cars passed by anyway.

“Erm…Liv?…” Bret stated.

No response.

“Liven?”

Nothing.

“Liven!!!” Bret yelled, snapping his friend out of her trance.

Bret turned his friend towards him and took a knee down, up to her level. A concern and upset look on his face.

“Are you okay?” He asked frantically.

Liven was going to respond, when a few sparks of electric, followed by a woosh caused the two to look.

The pair, taking a step forward, look and saw that the rift of…magic? Was sparking in a frantic state. The pair stepping in front of the ball of magic, Bret on left, Liven on right.

“Does this happen a lot?…” Bret asked frantically.

Liven shook her head.

“No, we’re definitely getting a visit from someone…” She looked towards Bret. “But I’m not entirely s-“

A gust of wind, followed by a giant breeze, sent the two flying back, landing on their backs with a grunt.

The bright of light disappeared for a few seconds, before a pink light flashed, the blur of a grey and brown rushed passed the two.

Liven and Bret quickly looked up and sat up to see what they saw if it was real or if they was just dreaming…

A grey pegasus with a brown mane ran passed, a black sweater and a heart shaped necklace could be seen briefly, as she was panting with a terrified expression on her face.

“Is that-“ Liven commented, still a bit frazzled “…Blackstar….”

Bret nodded, Having being witnessed to her friends creation, just running pass.

“Blackstar!” Liven called out to her character. The pair quickly staggering to there feet. “Blackstar, what’s going on?!”

With that another spark came from the rift, it was more of a black, darker shade.

A unicorn with a black fur coat and flowing black mane and tail stood. With bulging red eyes and a very sharp horn. It stood tall and fern growling with hatred, staring deep into the humans souls.

“What are you doing?!” A small female voice, nearly sounding identical to Liven, called out. “Run!!!”

“Yeah, running is a good idea!” Liven signaled to Bret to follow her, quickly running as fast as her legs could take her, Bret quickly following behind. “Running is a good idea!!!!”

Liven looked up and down at the road, she never thought she witness running with her creation, quickly running into the back end of her house, the green grassy shreds of strands stood firm on the ground.

The friends panted, both trying to catch their breath. Liven looked up trying to register what is going on.

“Okay-“ Bret shakily said out of breath, “Where are-“

A scream of a demon behind them scared the crap out of group, causing the two to, once again, fall on the ground.

Liven quickly hid behind Bret, scared out of her mind. Bret put a hand on her hand, trying to calming her down.

“It’s okay…” Bret reassured. “We’re gonna be okay…” He turned his head quickly, glaring straight at the shadow…demon? Bret, attempting to protect the both of them, but he knew that he was just as scared as she was.

The demon was about to grab onto the leg of Bret, which would have sent both Liven and him flying into his grasp. If the blast of pink magic came out and moved the demon back.

The two people, looking over to where the blast came from, could only see Blackstar, blowing the mark on her forehead like blowing out a candle, the purple wolf claw on her right hoof glowing a tiny bit.

Liven immediately ran off, looking around quickly, looking at a white shed behind, there was a emergency door, that can lead into an extra bedroom.

“Bret!, help me out here!” Liven called, attempting to open the metal handles to the door.

Bret quickly got on the right side, struggling as the two of them pulled with the strength they had, eventually pulling it open.

“Come on!” Bret called out, jumping in the hole below, Liven could hear the door to the bedroom open up with a slam, followed by the grunt of her friend.

Liven quickly followed behind, it was like a slide at the playground she went to when she was younger, crashing into the mattress bed below.

Liven quickly turned around, looking above and seeing Blackstar up top.

“Blackstar!” Liven called. “Blackstar jump!”

Blackstar jumped with a scream, jumping into the humans arms. The weight of the pegasus caused Liven to fall back with a grunt.

Bret quickly closed the doors, looking over at the human and pony on the floor.

“…Well that’s a first…” Liven said with an awkward laugh.

Blackstar quickly got off, looking at the two.

“I’m so sorry…please don’t hate me…” She said with her ears down.

“No…no…” Liven stated turning to her creation. “I don’t hate you, if I did I would have not created you.”

Bret spoke up, “Do you mind telling us what the hell is going on?…”

“Well you see,” Blackstar shyly spoke, “it’s the most horrific trouble I’ve ever been in and I really need your help!”

“Is anyone else is here?” Liven spoke.

“Not that I’m aware of…”

“Alright…” Bret stated, “Liven, I’ll keep you posted at home.”

Liven nodded, then looked towards to her creation, “I got a spare bedroom, you can sleep the days your here in there.” She walked with Bret to the room.

“Fine with me.” Blackstar shyly spoke them muttered under her breath. “Don’t worry guys…help is on the way.”

The pegasus proceed to walk out, to follow her creator. From another world to another.
