Ah! Thank you Mrs. Flowers, I'll see you tomorrow! Take care of yourself and beware the bedbugs! I here they're brimming this time of year!

[shuffling of papers]

Well, well, well. In all honestly I never expected any of you ponies and people to take such interest in my little sermon! I feel overjoyed and delighted from the bottom of my spine! Oh wait a minute that isn't quite right is it? Ah! The bottom of my heart that's it. Today I come to you with another sermon and another subject of immense philosophical stature . It's simple really, has anypony here heard of the socratic method or reasoning? No? I supposed not. In layman's terms it is solving answers through questions. For example; Why do you spend 7 to 8 hours sitting in a small cubicle answering to an overzealous boss who wants work that HE was supposed to do, on his desk by 7 AM sharp? No, no that's a horrible example! Ah here's a better example! In the true spirit of pony fanfiction I will be comparing a non-bronies hate to a brony's love. The non-brony will be the red color marked on your screen while the brony's will be the bolded text. Please observe.

I like my Little Pony.

Ugh! You sick perverted [expletive involving gay people] that's disgusting!

Why?

Because it's a little kid's show!

And why is it disgusting that I like it?

Because it's a kid's show!

And I ask you again, why is that disgusting?

To this, the non-brony will keep repeating his point on the surface, on the inside he's frantically trying to come up with a reason to counter the simple argument before him. The Socratic Method of questioning was conceived by a very famous philosopher by the name of Socrates in ancient greece, the very cradle of civilization's first thought's concerning things other than food, water, shelter, country, and honor.

Moving back to our main little argument, the non-brony is struggling because of a variety of reasons one being his morality and code. To cut most of the bull and preservative and get down to it; it's because he's been told not to like it. Think about it for a moment, how often a time have you been caught watching a kid's show and your roommate or your mother or parental figure walks in and says what? Are you still watching that kid's show? Grow up already. Realizing this, you quickly feel ashamed and change the channel.

That my good friends is a subtle display of social influence. People around you telling you to grow up and move on with your life. People telling you to get a good education, marry a good wife, and spend all your nights in a bar wondering why you feel so discontented. Now, an interesting fact is that human beings are quite independent beings and don't like being herded.

'Society' as you call it, is doing just that, herding you along the path of life. Telling you like a mother tells her young child, no not that one billy thats dangerous! Don't do that billy that stuff is for bad people!

You know if you start a war saying that your doing it in the name of peace, you'll receive an entry in the history books and be thought of as a hero if you've won or a demon if you've lost. If you start a war for no reason you'll be thought of as a madman. Isn't that positively fascinating?

Now, let's go back to the Socratic Method of reasoning for a moment. This time observing a homosexual versus a non-homosexual homophobic (I.E most of the people you would find in Call of Duty. What? God of Chaos has to do something in his spare time!) The homophobic will be in the red indicated on the screen below you. The homosexual will be colored red.

Yes I am a homosexual and I'm proud.

Homosexuality is disgusting, frankly I cannot see why two grown men would love each other in that way.

Why not?

Because it's two grown men! It's against nature!

Why is it against nature?

Because it just is! You don't see me going around openly kissing men now do you?

Yes, but why not?

Like I said before it is disgusting and a sin against god's will!

And why is it against god's will?

Because it's disgusting!!

And why is it disgusting?

Now to spare you the agonizing bore of this sample conversation I will say this; in one way or another, you are in influenced by the various different factors. Some of these might include friends and family and they in turn are influenced by culture. If you don't believe me then ask anyone you know about a topic that has been bothering you regarding social media, government, etc. Simply ask them why over and over and see how they splutter as they search through their memory.
