Chapter 1: Time to Talk

"Angel bunny, I'm back!" Fluttershy said as she opened the door of her cottage. She gasped as she saw the sight of her usually neat home. The pictures that were meant to be on her shelves were on the floor, broken as bits of glass were scattered across the carpet. The clock seemed to be in a worse condition with chunks of wires and cogs sticking out and the clock hands were snapped right of. Mirrors were shattered and food was smushed across the wall indicating that there had been a major food fight. Fluttershy took a moment to process the scene in front of her before dropping her bags and marching to her bedroom, scowling. Furiously, she pushed the door open to reveal her messy bedroom. Spike was in there chasing Angel who was jumping on Fluttershy's bed. "WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS?!" Fluttershy shrieked, grabbing both of their attention. The two of them paused to look at the normally shy pony who seemed like she could erupt.

"Oh uh h-hey Fluttershy," Spike stuttered nervously, "Back so soon?"

"Spike, you were meant to be taking care of Angel! WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY HOUSE?!"

Spike looked over at the very smug rabbit who stuck his tongue out. "I was taking care of him, honest! But...But..." Spike struggled to speak.

"But what?" Fluttershy raised an eyebrow, slightly cooling down.

Spike took a deep breath before shouting, "BUT ANGEL RUINED EVERYTHING!" There was a pause of silence as both Fluttershy and Angel stared at Spike, blankly.

"What do you mean? Angel is-"

"TERRIBLE!" Spike interrupted Fluttershy, "He doesn't listen, he causes trouble, I have to literally chase him to get him to do something right and he doesn't like me!"

Fluttershy turned to look at Angel. "Angel, is this true?" Angel shook his head angrily and began squeaking. "So you're saying Spike doesn't let you have any fun and he is a bad pet sitter?" Fluttershy asked, translating the bunny. Angel nodded, satisfied.

"Now wait just a second, fuzzball!" Spike growled as he pointed at Angel, "I am a good pet sitter. You're just a bad pet!" Angel squeaked angrily and the two of them began to argue, ignoring Fluttershy.

"ENOUGH!" Fluttershy finally yelled, making Angel and Spike quiet again. Fluttershy let out a sigh before saying, "This can't continue. But luckily for you two, I know the perfect solution for your little situation." Fluttershy smiled warmly but Angel and Spike exchanged confused glances. "Talking. The perfect solution for any argument or conflict is talking. There is no better way to understand each other." Angel frowned and began to squeak something.

"Uh what did he say?" Spike asked.

"Um, you rather not know," Fluttershy said quickly, "But the point is you two need to solve this problem by talking together and understanding the other creature's point of view. Put yourself in each other's shoes and imagine how you would feel in that position."

"Ugh, well I would feel ashamed of myself if I was Angel. Making someone else's life harder isn't anything to be proud of!" Spike huffed. Angel smirked before stomping on Spike's foot. "Hey ow!" Spike said as he jumped up holding onto his hurt foot, "Why you annoying little bug!" Angel just fell on his back, laughing uncontrollably.

"Oh dear, this is going to be hard..." Fluttershy muttered, worriedly.

"Now, I called the two of you over for a nice, lovely tea party," Fluttershy giggled as she poured in some hot, steaming tea into each of their teacups. Angel and Spike didn't say anything. Instead, they just crossed their arms and turned away from each other. "Come on now, you need to interact with each other. Start a friendly conversation."

"I don't see that happening. Besides, how am I meant to hear the little devil if I don't speak rabbit?" Spike asked.

"Well, don't worry. I thought of everything. Angel, I need you to wear this translation collar. It'll translate everything you say so that we understand it," Fluttershy held out the collar to Angel who rolled his eyes and put it around his neck.

"This sucks," Angel said.

"It works!" Fluttershy chirped, "I'm going to go in my room now. You two can just talk over here and I'll be out of your way." Fluttershy flew too her room and closed the door for good measure, leaving Angel and Spike alone.

Spike broke the silence by slamming his claw onto the table. "Okay then, let's have our 'friendly' conversation about why you decided to make my life harder!"

"Dude, chillax. I didn't do anything wrong. You did. I try to have some fun or watch a bit of TV or play outside but you come along and don't let me do anything fun!" Angel said before leaning back in his chair and slamming his feet on the table, illmaneredly.

"Yeah right, keep telling yourself that. I make sure we get everything on the list done but you just don't cooperate!" Spike yelled.

Angel let out a mocking yawn, slouching further down his chair. "Yeah whatever," he mumbled. Spike was furiated by this as his purple scales turned red.

"Hey cottontail, get your feet on the table!" he said.

"You gonna make me?" Angel spat back with a cocky smirk plastered on his furry face.

"You know, you're way less annoying when you can't talk!"

"Whatever," Angel muttered as he waved his paw dismissively.

Growling, Spike stood up and headed for the exit, "That's it! I'm done! Fluttershy is gonna have to find a new pet sitter because this is NOT working out. Now if you excuse me, I've got some power pony comics to read!"

Angel's ears shot up as he sat up straight. "You like the power ponies?" he asked.

"Yeah, they're my favourite. Why'd you ask?" Spike asked, curiously as he turned to look at Angel.

"They're my favourite too. I've read all the comics that have come out and watched the two movies!" Angel announced proudly, puffing his chest out.

"Heh, same here," Spike agreed as he walked back to the table and sat down again, "But you know what's cooler than reading the power pony comics?"

"What?"

"Being sucked into an actual one and battling the Maniac! The main 6 and I did that and we were transformed into the power ponies with all the cool powers and stuff."

"WHAT?! REALLY?!" Angel gasped, not believing what he had been told, "How is that possible?"

"It was an enchanted comic from the enchanted library. But we had one heck of a time!"

"Aw come on! I can't believe Fluttershy didn't tell me all this!" Angel pouted as Spike gave out a small chuckle.

"I guess you had to be there to experience the real coolness!"

"Yeah. Hey, you wanna watch the new power pony movie? It's coming out this Saturday," Angel asked, hoping for a yes.

"Sure, I probably have some free time. So we cool now?"

"I guess so," Angel replied as they both fistbumped.

"I'm glad to hear that, boys!" Angel and Spike turned to see Fluttershy behind them, "Looks like a good conversation really does help. And I knew you two would have something in common that you can both agree on!"

"Yep, looks like you were right Fluttershy! Angel isn't really all that annoying when you get to know him," Spike said.

"And Spike is pretty fun," Angel said.

"Where are you two going?" Fluttershy asked as she saw the two of them head for the exit.

"I'm gonna hang with Spike, if that's okay?" Angel asked.

"Why, certainly!" Fluttershy replied as she saw the dragon and the rabbit leave together as friends. Fluttershy sighed happily to herself, "Another job well done!"
