Daring Do and Goji's 100 Day Kind of Minecraft Series: Part 1

by GodzillaSpino

Chapters

Prologue

"So let me get this straight. You're gonna randomly drop the both of us into some sort of apocalyptic video game world that is 'modded,' whatever that word means, to have a zombie virus that mutates every 10 days?"

"Ding ding ding. Correct."

You, the reader, are probably wondering, What is going on here?

It's pretty simple. Goji decided to give Daring a little adventure with him by making a universe that was basically modded hardcore Minecraft. With a zombie apocalypse to boot.

Needless to say, Daring Do/A.K. Yearling kinda, sorta didn't like the idea.

The dark gold Rainbow Dash copycat and the light blue talking atomic reptile argued for about 3 minutes before the latter eventually won.

Daring Do humphed and accepted defeat, Goji took care of business telling everyone important that he'd be out of commission for a while, and then they jumped through a portal courtesy of the blue lizard, and the adventure began.

Author's Note

My story's so small, yet I'm already spinning it off. Trolol.

Day 1

Daring Do woke up in a strange cube-shaped world, unaware of what to do, unaware of where to go, unaware of what was happening in general. Goji, however, being a true Minecraft OG, then went to the nearest tree and punched it.

Daring Do was about to stop him, then noticed the cracks in said tree and the fact he had no reaction associated with pain at all. With slight hesitation, she took her hoof and hit another tree. No pain, but a lot of cracks on the tree. She kept punching, the wood broke, and the tree came down.

Goji had gathered then opened up some strange menu and put a few wood blocks there, which he had collected from the tree he had punched. Different blocks came up in another slot, which he took and arranged in a certain order, which created another different block. The way this world Goji had teleported her into was too much for Daring to process.

"You know," Goji said. "You could do the fighting for the first few or so days. I'll take care of the rest and show you how this world works as well when I get everything laid out."

Daring Do thought about it, unbeknownst to the fact that the reason she hadn't been able to agree or disagree for such a long period of time was the author struggling to come up with an in-character response.

Deciding it was best to venture when she knew what was going on, our golden-coated adventurer declined Goji's offer and decided to stay near him in the case a zombie attacked and she didn't know what to do.

It served her well.

A zombie immediately saw them. It was slow moving and rather dim-witted, but even a punch couldn't kill it...right? Goji proved her wrong.

To be fair, Daring thought, we just punched wood. A zombie would be pretty easy to dispose of.

After 7 or so hits, the zombie had been vanquished.

"That was easier than I thought," Daring said.

"Don't get your hopes up," Goji replied grimly. "After day 70, things are not gonna be pretty."

Daring Do let that sink in. She remembered Goji said the virus would mutate every 10 days. She should've known better, but she guessed ecstasy from vanquishing their first zombie clouded her memory a bit. Even then, though, she thought the mutations wouldn't have been that bad, and that she would only need to worry about day 90 and so forth.

"Well," Goji said, interrupting her thoughts. "We're going to need to start getting
a few more resources. We just need to punch some more trees, head over to that town over there," he pointed to a town not very far away.

"And kill more zombies?" Daring guessed.

"That's the spirit, eh? Now off!"

Goji began collecting more wood, and created something that looked like a wooden pickaxe. How was that gonna help their case? A wooden pick wasn't exactly what most would call a choice weapon.

Our favorite Rainbow Dash recolor (unless you dislike her, but that's beside the point) got her answer as Goji dug up some dirt, mined some stone, and headed over to a block he had placed earlier and arranged the resources in a specific order. He now had a stone saber and pickaxe, which were much more useful. He crafted another stone saber for Daring, who took it with silent gratitude, and they both went off to the abandoned town.

Now armed with weapons, ridding the settlement of zombies was easier than how it would've been had not they crafted said weapons, but the process was still rather difficult due to there being, obviously, a large horde rather than a few separated individuals of the undead, coupled with the annoying baby ones, which had the same health stats and dealt the same amount of attack damage as adults, but were twice as fast. Daring would not look forward to day 70 with the little creeps.

Once finished with disposing of the horde and destroying all the spawners, they set up base on the strongest structure the town could provide, and raided the buildings. They came back with iron armor, a decent amount of food, and new iron weapons and tools (minus hoes, which aren't that important anyway), along with bows and arrows. Goji, with the little iron they had left, managed to craft a few iron bars and started fortifying the town. It wasn't much, but at least the pony and atomic lizard duo had a start.

The two were about to sleep, but then text appeared on the bottom left corner of their vision.

The Blood Moon is rising.

"Sweet mother of Jesus, just the first day and already a Blood Moon?!" Goji groaned as he immediately rushed Daring to the roof, cut off the vines from the walls, and readied his iron saber.

"What's going on?!" Daring panicked, for the first time in an adventure. Well, not the first time, but this was the first time her panic was off the charts in an adventure.

"When a Blood Moon rises," Goji explained. "hundreds upon hundreds of zombies spawn around you. It's best to be in high ground during such a time."

Sure enough, suddenly, an unbelievable amount of zombies spawned on the ground and pushed at the structure, attempting to reach them. Some spawned on the roof, but Goji swiftly decapitated them.

Goji took his bow and shot at the zombies around them, but like a hydra, it seemed that two more always took the place of the casualty. Daring did the same and got the same result.

It took all night long to rid of just an eighth of the walking dead before the two new acquaintances.

Day 2

It was already noon, but the pair had only just begun the day.

The zombies from the Blood Moon were still there, so Goji decided to rely on dumb luck and run off, with Daring Do tagging along. They managed to get past the horde and survive. Hopefully, by the time they got back, they would despawn. It was a good time to go off exploring, anyway.

The atomic lizard and golden pegasus had been trekking for about 30 minutes before at last finding somewhere to loot.

Daring was about to open the door, but Goji halted her.

"Keep a distance, you never know whether or not there are zombies inside," The blue reptile warned. He readied his iron saber and slowly opened the door with his telekinesis.

Sure enough, some animated corpses came out, but they seemed a little...different. A name tag hovered over them when they looked at it, which read as follows:

Original Specimen

Goji calmly sliced their heads off. He then took a torch and headed inside, meeting more Original Specimens, eventually encountering Improved Subjects, and dodging the bites of the normal zombies at the end of the hall. He walked back out and motioned for Daring Do to come in.

Needless to say, they had gained a lot of iron, enough to fortify their mane main base.

As Daring watched Goji create and fortify stuff, blah blah blah, she decided to ask him how she could actually be productive in the adventure in other ways than ending the lives of the undead. Goji took his time to show the pegasus how to mine for things, and soon, it was nighttime.

The duo kept an eye on the left corner of their vision, but luckily, there was no blood moon that night. They slept soundly...well, at least as soundly as they could in a zombie apocalypse.

Author's Note

This was a rather short chapter. To be fair though, this all happened in the course of one afternoon.

Also, yes, I couldn't resist the pun. Not sorry lol :trollestia:

Day 3

This won't be the only chapter switching from Daring Do and Goji's POV, so to help you out, here is a color code:
Daring Do's POV
Goji's POV

Note: Even in the POV segments, the characters will be referred to in third person. I've always been kind of bad about 1st person things.

Day 3

As our nuclear reptilian and golden bird horse awoke from their slumber, they decided to plan out stuff and whatnot. They ultimately decided on Goji mining for much needed materials, whilst Daring Do would fly around raiding and looting random areas. Finally, they had a routine, and this would be helpful for future days, especially post day-70. They went off to fulfill their respective duties.

Daring flew out of the newly fortified base, landing every so often to gather wood. She also arrived back to the place that she and Goji had looted the previous day and decided to collect more iron and redstone. The zombies were so easy to kill, Daring had to remind herself that it wouldn’t be as easy as the days progressed. Gathering more wood, she found a hospital nearby, and decided to explore it.

She would regret everything.

It started out relatively easy. Zombies here and there, just waiting to be killed. However, when she opened the next door, hoping to find more things to loot, an outpouring of zombies burst through and Daring Do took more damage than she ever had in the playthrough. She fought off as many of the undead as she could, then dug a tunnel into the insides of the hospital, and eventually reached the outside world with only half a heart.

That taught her not to take the easiness of vanquishing individual zombies for granted, because an entire horde was still difficult to deal with, even in this stage of the game.

Goji mined and mined. He was hoping to find diamonds, so that they would be fully prepared, but he just kept finding stone, stone, and more stone. Sometimes he’d get lucky and find a vein of iron ores, but other than that, there was nothing valuable.

He mined a few more blocks, then found a cavern. Placing torches in, and carefully keeping an eye out for any animated corpses, he trekked through the small cave, with no luck.

He was about to get out, then a few zombies showed up and decided to mess with him. They were dealt with, but he still kept an eye out for a horde, because they could appear anywhere.

He came across a small group of the undead, but luckily no horde.

The two regrouped in the center of the abandoned town they had set up base in. They did all the regular Minecraft stuff, and their routine continued as normal, smelting iron, fortifying, repairing tools, blah blah blah. They then heard a flap above them.

Was that...a dragon?!

"You didn't tell me anything about a dragon!" Daring said.

"I'm sure I didn't install RLcraft!" Goji retorted with a panicky tone.

"I don't even know what that means!"

"It doesn't matter! Just make sure it doesn't spot you!"

The dragon flew around their base for a while, but soon lost interest. However, their base hadn't been as lucky as the lizard and pegasus duo thought. Part of it was on fire, and they didn't have any water buckets on them. So, they had to do it the hard way, by hand.

Half of that unlucky part of the base that had been afflicted by the dragon's "fury" got extra bad luck by being completely burned down, forcing our two main characters to rebuild. They, like all players in this situation, complained about their bad luck, but at least they were able to empty out part of their inventory.

And oh boy! Guess what?

The Blood Moon is rising.

Immediately the pair ran to the roof of the center of their base. They defended their base, as any sane person would in such a situation, breaking many of the stone swords they had crafted out of excess courtesy of strip-mining. and running out of arrows fast. Just as they had in Day 1, they were utterly overwhelmed by millions upon millions of the undead, vanquishing only an eighth of them. The duo could only hope that the future days would be kinder to their souls and sanity.

Day 4-9

Day 4

Building. Just building. Sure, Daring gathered some items, and Goji mined, but it was all just to build and fortify the base. And yet, still no diamonds.

To be fair, they shouldn't really have expected that. It was only Day 4, and you can only do so much in a span of 4 days. So Daring had decided to use the excess stone from her reptilian companion's recent strip-mining to somewhat expand their base. Little did they know it would take 6 days.

Day 5

The progress was going pretty well, and the base would be fine pre-Day 30. Goji decided it would be best for his and his partner's sanity to go exploring. They looted a few more bases, got some gunpowder (woohoo?), and gathered up seeds to start a farm. They also ran into some sugarcane and gathered those as well. After that, it was building, mining, and killing zombies. Business as usual.

Day 6

Building again. This is getting boring to narrate. Oh well, I don't really have a choice in the matter.

On another note though, Goji found redstone. That's cool, I guess.

Day 7

Finally, it's interesting! We have a Blood Moon in our hands!

As was the routine during a Blood Moon, Daring Do and Goji would climb to high ground, and then proceed to murder the undead that way. The only problem was that they were running out of arrows, and ponies aren't exactly the type to kill living creatures (Zombies are different and you know why), so Goji couldn't massacre chickens to gather feathers for arrows. So Daring had to carry Goji with her front hooves while flying above zombies waiting to be decapitated. The duo finally managed to kill more than an eighth of the infected. To be fair, a seventh isn't really much, but at least it was an improvement.

Day 8

Just another boring day with building and mining. On another note, Goji, to Daring's dismay, decided to kill some chickens, but at least they had feathers for arrows, so she couldn't really complain. But because Daring's a pony and God/Celestia forbid a pony sees someone kill something, our Rainbow Dash recolor did complain. This resulted in an argument that I would like to write out as an excuse to lengthen the chapter, but I'm too lazy to write it. Oh well.

Day 9

Our local not-Sans anthro kaiju (with no link to furries whatsoever despite being anthropomorphic) decides to start a farm. At least the duo have more room to waste excess stone on. That stuff's been building up ever since the more knowledgeable one of them found redstone three days earlier.

Author's Note

Daring is now P.O.ed at the narrator for indirectly calling her dumb. Goji's offering us some popcorn while we watch. Want some?

Virus Mutation 1

Yup, it's that time. Day 9 ended, and Day 10 is about to start. That means it's time to check on the virus.

What are the new challenges for our duo of mismatched universes?

Mutation Stats:
Infected Speed: Increased by 2% (1% >>> 3%)
Infected Attack Damage: Increased by 3% (1% >>> 3%)
Blood Moon Chance: Increased by 5% (5% >>> 10%)
This will be very, very interesting.

Author's Note

You'll be seeing these types of chapters pop up after the 9th day of a mutation. So after 29th day, 39th day, 49th day, so on, so forth.
