Falling Dreams
Chapter 1: Prologue
The nightmare always began with her falling.
Her wings rendered unusable from lack of use in Cloudsdale, she plunged through the sky without any hope of salvation. As the ground closed in, her last wish was always to see those violet eyes once more before the darkness consumed her.
Then she would wake up, safe in her bed surrounded by soft animals murmuring comforting sounds, with tears tracing quiet paths down her cheeks.
Every morning, the cream-colored pony would shakily leave her warm bed, and stretch out her wings, allowing the soft feathers to rustle gently. Taking a few small steps forward, she flapped the appendages hopefully, praying to achieve more than a few inches of flight.
It never happened though.
Every morning, she would lift a few inches off the ground, and then collapse back to the ground, wings twitching helplessly. Flight had evaded her ever since she received her cutie mark, left the tormenting she had suffered in Cloudsdale, and joined the earth and unicorn ponies on the ground.
And every morning, she would think of her. The blue pegasus who had helped her to get her cutie mark, and introduced her to the land below. The pegasus with the multihued mane, whose cocky attitude saved her from so much, even herself.
Rainbow Dash.
