Chapter 2: Chapter 1: The Day Everything Changed
Previous Chapter Next ChapterEight Years Ago, Sweetie Bell's P.O.V.
Button Mash was at his house on his brand new gaming console that his mother recently bought him when suddenly I stormed into his room.
"Oh! Sweetie Belle, there you are. Was wondering when..." Button Mash started but noticed I looked angry for some reason. "...Sweetie, did something..." He was cut off when I suddenly used my magic to throw a gaming handheld at him.
"BUTTON MASH, HOW COULD YOU?!" I exclaimed. "I can't believe you would go and spend the five hundred bits I gave you last week on a gaming handheld." I added.
"Well you didn't tell me I had to buy anything specific..." Button Mash countered.
"YOU IDIOT, DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT TODAY IS?!" I exclaimed.
"Uh...it's Saturday and that means I can stay home and play games all day so I can work on my homework tomorrow." Button Mash said.
"IDIOT, IT'S BEEN EXACTLY ONE YEAR SINCE I STARTED DATING YOU!" I yelled out.
"Oh...oh gosh...so then the five hundred bits was..." Button Mash realized what he had done.
"DUH! I was covering the cost of your anniversary gift to me. So I asked your mother what you spent the money on since I didn't see a gift anywhere on the table for me, and she showed me this thing." I said, pointing a hoof at the handheld gaming console.
"Listen...Sweetie...I can make it up to you..." Button Mash said.
"Forget it Button Mash; obviously you care more for gaming then you do about me." I said.
"Sweetie Belle please...just give me another chance..." Button Mash begged.
"NO! I'M THROUGH GIVING YOU CHANCES!" I said. "Every Friday you've given me the same old excuse that you got lost in your games for a year. I've let you slide with that excuse because I believed deep down you still cared enough for our relationship to want to make this work. Games and all. But now?" I suddenly stepped on the gaming handheld so hard that I broke it. "NOW I KNOW HOW YOU REALLY FEEL. IT'S OVER BUTTON MASH, WE'RE THROUGH!" I said and turned to leave. "I'm going to go find a different boyfriend, one who will actually spend time with me and care about me!" I said before leaving Button Mash's house entirely.
Button Mash looked at the broken handheld. It showed him just how much he had broken my heart that day. "...If only I hadn't have been so blind..." He said, a tear fell down his cheek. "I swear to myself...the next time I get a girlfriend, I won't let the same thing happen." He swore in silence as the tears fell. The breakup was a reality check. One he desperately needed.
Present Day, Third Person P.O.V.
"About month later, Button Mash and me actually started dating." Silver Spoon said. "We've been really getting into it. I think your break up really hit him hard." Silver Spoon said.
"It's too late for him to fix what he broke with me. Spike took care of that." Sweetie Belle said. "But he did eventually become my friend again." She added.
"So that's how Button Mash became so refined...but how did Spike get over the whole...crush thing on Rarity?" Filithy Rich asked. "I mean, from what I understand, that was a thing." He added.
"Oh Sweetie Belle wasn't the only one who got heartbroken that day." Spike said.
"But we did eventually mend fences a month later. Still, had I had known...I wouldn't have have had that stallion over the day I broke his heart..." Rarity said.
Eight Years ago, Spike's P.O.V.
At the same time Sweetie Belle was breaking up with Button Mash, I was over at Rarity's when I saw that Stallion she was trying to keep hidden from me. That was when my heart was broken...
"HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME RARITY?!" I yelled at her.
"Now Spikey Wikey..." Rarity tried to baby me but I swated her hoof away.
"No. You don't get to call me that anymore. All this time I thought you felt the same about me as I do you. But now I see all the times you had me help you were just you using me." I told her.
"Spike, that's not true..." Rarity said.
"Oh really? Then that Stallion isn't truth either." Spike said, pointing at the stallion in question.
"Spike, you've got the wrong idea about..." Rarity said.
"Don't even try to hide how nice he looks. He looks ready for a date. I know the look well. I saw Twlilight with the same kind of look the other day for reasons I cannot tell you." I said. "I was going to tell you, but now your officially off the list of trustees for my own adoptive mother!" I said and turned to leave. "If Twilight wants to tell you, then that's up to her. But if she doesn't, then that's also none of my business. All I know is that I wish I had never had a crush on you, Rarity. I would've saved myself the heartbreak." I said and then left.
"...Spike...I'm sorry...I'm so sorry..." Rarity said and broke down into tears.
Present day, Third Person P.O.V.
"Of course that Stallion turned out to only be interested in me for my business. I eventually finally hooked up with a unicorn mare who did appreciate me for who I am as a pony. However, she died a few years ago." Rarity said. A young unicorn filly came up the stairs. "Oh. There you are White Powder. I was wondering where you were." Rarity said.
"Hi mom, hi aunties, hi everyone else." White Powder said.
"If you were married to a mare...then where'd she come from?" Spoiled Rich asked.
"A spell that combines the DNA from two mares and impregnantes one of them. I'm the only one outside of the royal sisters and my sister-in-law cadence who are able to cast the spell. Though the cost that it brought..." Twilight said. "The mare that Rarity married died during child labor. It had nothing to do with my spell though. Shortly after giving birth to White Powder, the mare that Rarity married had a heart attack and died shortly after." She added, a tear fell down her cheek.
"It was a rough road, but everyone pitched in to help take care of her." Diamond Tiara said. "Including me. We didn't want Rarity to have to deal with raising her alone." She added.
"That's...awefully nice of you, sweetheart." Spoiled Rich said. "Then I think when you and Apple Bloom go through with the same spell, not only do I have faith the one who delivers the child will survive, I know you'll both be great mothers." She added.
"Wow that's...actually the nicest thing you've ever said to me mommy." Diamond Tiara said, smiling. "Took you eight years...but your finally are acting more like my mother." She said.
"Better late then never I always say." Starlight Glimmer said, smiling.
"That sounds like something Twilight would say. If you weren't sisters, I swear you'd be copying her." Filthy Rich said.
"OH COME ON, IT'S BEEN EIGHT YEARS! I THOUGHT THE JOKE HAD DIED OFF AT THIS POINT!" Starlight yelled to the heavens above.
