Chapter 6: Chapter 5 - True Parents

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

Since it was getting late, it was time for everyone to get home. Rainbow Dash came with me to my house since I wanted to tell my adopted parents about my biological connection.

"You sure you want to be here with me when I tell them?" I asked Rainbow Dash.

"Yeah. Besides, I want to meet the ones who've been raising you all this time as I've never met them." Rainbow Dash said.

"Welp, then here goes nothing." I said and knocked on the door. A female pegasus and a male earth pony soon opened the door.

"Scootaloo...what's Rainbow Dash doing here with you?" My adoptive mother asked.

"Now sweetie, remember Rainbow Dash is old enough to make her own decisions." My adoptive father said.

"...Hey dad...hey mom...can me and Rainbow Dash come in?" I asked.

"Sure thing sweetie." My mother said and we headed inside.

"I noticed you've finally started flying. First your cutie mark, and now your flying. So proud." My father said.

"It's thanks to Rainbow Dash's teachings. She's been such a good mentor to me. But that's not the main reason she's here with me today." I said. I sighed. "Oh boy...I thought I had my nerves in order to say this...but..." My mother stopped me.

"I think I can guess then. You finally found out you were adopted by us and discovered Rainbow Dash to be your biological sister, didn't you?" My mother asked.

"...I'm guessing you met them then. My biological parents." I said.

"And here I was ready to give the promise speech again..." Rainbow Dash said.

"Funny you should mention a promise...because your real parents..." My father said but I cut him off.

"Mommy, daddy...my big sis Rainbow Dash made it clear to me that my biological parents don't deserve to call themselves my parents. They lost that right. And I agree with that statement. As far as I'm concerned, you both are my real parents. Because you practically raised me as your own daughter and have treated me very well in that regard. So I guess the bottom line here, is that my real parents are you two. It's always been you two. And that will never change." I said. "...I hope that wasn't too sappy..." I added.

"Nah. That was fine little sis." Rainbow Dash said. I smiled.

"Thanks big sis." I said.

"But let me guess: They made you promise not to tell Scootaloo and let her find out on her own just like they did to me?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"...Guess we don't need to give a speech after all..." My father said.

"Figures..." Rainbow Dash said. "Seems I'm the only one of my family who was loyal to Scoots as best as I could be without breaking the promise to my parents. Though I'll be honest, I was very close to doing so anyways. Because seriously, buck that promise. My little sis deserved to know." She said. "I am glad she found out on her own though. And thankfully I don't think it changes that much between us. Sure, I'm still going to treat her like my little sis, but I can be a little more of myself around Scoots now." Rainbow Dash explained.

"And we thank you so much for agreeing to take Scootaloo under your tutelage. Clearly it's paid off dividends." My mother said.

"She came to me about it, actually." Rainbow Dash said. "So I chose to accept that role for her because it would allow me to be the big sis I wanted to be to her without breaking the promise to my parents. I wish she had found out before getting her cutie mark instead of after. But oh well. At least now I can better train her." She said.

"But aren't you a Wonderbolt now Dash? Do you really think you can manage?" My mother asked.

"Hey I can fly now remember? I doubt Spitfire or anyone related to the wonderbolts would stop me from seeing my big sis every now and again." I said.

"That's a good point...well made dear." My father said.

"You'll have to wait a few weeks for Spitfire to put you on the biological family list so security doesn't get on you by accident first squirt." Rainbow Dash said.

"There's a list for that sort of thing?" I asked.

"Surprised me too, I know." Rainbow Dash said.

"Well one day, I hope to become a Wonderbolt too. And I will do my best to get in." I said.

"That's the spirit sis." Rainbow Dash said and we hoofbumped.

"Ah...our little filly is growing up..." My mother said.

"But we couldn't be more proud of you, Scootaloo." My father said.

This has been THE BEST DAY EVER!
