Chapter 1: School For Gifted Mages

Load Full Story Next Chapter

In the land of Equestria, there was magic of all kinds. From natural elements such as fire, water, earth, and air. To unnatural magic such as spacial, chains, cotton, memory. Using these elements were its citizens with special books known as grimoires. Powerful books given at birth allow those who wield them to better manipulate the element they are born with. However, one must first discover themselves before they can wield either their element or grimoire. For that, schools were made to help the younger generation unlock and learn their magic along with other subjects. The one seen as the best school is the school created by Equestria's ruler and goddess Princess Celestia. A school for gifted mages who wield incredible magic power since birth. It is here our adventure begins with a five-year-old named Twilight Sparkle.

A young girl around the age of five was currently standing with her parents in a hallway with nervousness clear on her features. She had light purple skin and dark purple eyes. Her hair was short and dark blue in a bob cut with purple and pink strands in it. She wore a dark blue dress and pink flats and holding a blank cover grey book between her arms.

"Don't worry, Twilight. You'll do perfectly fine for the test. All they're going to do is have you test out your magic power on a special egg." A man with blue skin, golden eyes, and combed dark blue hair said, putting a hand on his daughter's head. He wore a dark blue sweater, light yellow pants, and black shoes.

"Your father is right, Twi-li, and we'll also be in the room with you when you're taking the test." A woman with grey skin, light blue eyes, and shoulder-length light purple hair with white strands said, taking her daughter's hand. She wore a light purple long sleeve, blue jeans, and light purple shoes.

"Alright." Twilight said softly.

"Twilight Sparkle." A man called as he opened the door to the testing room.

The little girl quickly entered the testing room with her parents and stood in front of four people with clipboards.

"Alright, little one, all we're going to have you do is a small test for those who have yet to unlock their element." One of them said an older woman with frizzy grey hair said.

Twilight nodded and stepped into the middle of the room.

"Now, please release your magic and aim it towards that egg right there." One said, motioning towards a purple egg inside a wheel barrel full of hay.

"This is how we test those who haven't already unlocked their magic element." Another decided to explain to the young girl causing her to look at her book in sadness.

Twilight then took a deep breath and looked towards the egg. She began attempting to hatch it with her magic. When that didn't work, she got on the cart and shook it. She then stepped back, put her book down, rose her hands up, and then slammed them forward, shouting.

"Hatch!"

When that didn't work, she looked down sadly.

"I'm sorry I wasted your time." Twilight said.

However, before anything else could continue, a loud boom was heard, causing Twilight to jump in surprise. She quickly lost control of her mana, and it blasted a large pink beam towards the egg.

When the magic made contact with the egg, it caused it to shake. Cracks started to form on the egg, and it shattered. Popping out was a small purple baby dragon with green spikes on the back of its head going down to the tail, which had a spade-shaped tip.

Twilight's magic wasn't done, though. She and her book were suddenly lifted off the ground, surrounded by a pink ball of magic. She wasn't the only one though the examiners, her parents, and even the little dragon were also lifted off the ground surrounded by large balls of pink magic. Suddenly smaller pink spheres began to appear in the room, and they began flying around everywhere.

Anything the small spheres touched seemed to be erased, causing perfectly circular holes to begin appearing on objects in the sphere's paths. A few even went through the walls flying wildly outside.

A woman saw this as she was walking towards the school. She was a very tall woman with pinkish white skin, pink eyes, and long pink, green, and blue hair that goes past her hips. She wore a gold and purple dress with a golden necklace and golden colored flats. On her back were a pair of large angelic wings the same color as her skin.

"Interesting." The woman said as one orb came towards her. She simply raised a finger to it, and when the sphere made contact with the orb, it immediately dissipated.

The woman then began floating up towards the testing tower. Upon entering, she walked over to a scared floating Twilight.

"It's alright, little one." The woman said. She put a hand out towards the orb around Twilight.

Suddenly both it and the other orbs around the other occupants of the room dispersed. This caused everyone to fall to the ground except for both Twilight and the baby dragon. The dragon landing in the hay wagon, and Twilight being caught in the woman's arms.

"I'm sorry." Twilight said with watery eyes. The woman merely smiled at her.

"You have an extraordinary magic element. And a very special gift to go along with it." The woman complimented.

"Huh?" Twilight questioned

"I don't think I've ever seen a person with your raw ability. Especially one so young. But, you will need to learn how to control and master these abilities of yours." The woman said, setting Twilight down.

"Huh?" Twilight questioned.

"That's why I want you, Twilight Sparkle, to be my personal apprentice. What do you say, Twilight? Would you like to be Princess Celestia's student?" The woman asked. This caused the young girl to jump around in excitement.

"Yes!" Twilight exclaimed as she jumped halfway up the room and floated there.

"One more thing Twilight." Princess Celestia said.

"More?" Twilight questioned before falling to the ground.

As she laid there, she saw the book she had been holding in front of her. Except it changed.

It was now purple with the symbol of a six-pointed pink star surrounded by smaller white stars in the middle of it. Twilight gasped in excitement.

"My grimoire. It got its cover mark!" Twilight exclaimed in excitement.

"Excuse me, is everything okay in here?" A guard in golden knight armor with blue outlines and a blue star in the middle of his chest holding a spear asked as they opened the door.

"Yes, everything is fine now. Just a little mage first discovering her magical element and losing a bit of control." Celestia said with a smile.

"Yes, well, we had another case of a young mage discovering their element. What's the procedure for this? Do I send them to the element test or keep them here?" The guard questioned.

Everyone in the room blinked and walked outside. They exited to see a small boy around Twilight's age standing next to a monstrous shaped golem, who was holding up a large piece of the roof.

The boy had pale-whitish skin, short snow-white hair, and red eyes. He wore a black long sleeve shirt, blue shorts, and grey shoes.

"Am I dreaming, or am I alive right now?" The boy asked no one in particular as he stared at the monster shaped golem in front of him.

The golem itself had a humanoid body but had the head of a dragon and a dragon-shaped arm, which was currently being used to hold up the piece of roof. Suddenly it seemed like the piece of the roof began to shrink as the dragon arm began to devour the piece and grow from it. It then let out a roar and glared down at the boy.

"I think I'm still alive. Someone help, please!" The boy shouted as the golem used it's dragon arm to try and bite the boy.

However, the golem was stopped by a beam of magic shot by the guard with their spear. The shot decapitated the golem and caused the body to fall to the ground in pieces.

"Wonderful shot, Spearhead." Celestia said with a smile. The young guard nodded his head with a smirk.

"No problem, princess, just doing my job." Spearhead said. Though, he did feel proud of himself for that shot.

Celestia walked over to the boy as he finally pushed himself off the ground. She crouched down and looked at the still scared and nervous boy.

"Are you okay little one?" Celestia asked as the boy nodded.

"Yes, mam, princess, princess mam." The boy stuttered, not sure what the title was.

"No need for that. You can call me what you feel comfortable with, little one." Celestia said with a smile.

The boy merely nodded.

"Now then, it seems the little accident in the test room helped you unlock your interesting magic. It didn't seem quite like earth magic to me. May I please see your new grimoire, little one?" Celestia asked as the boy nodded and pulled out his grimoire. The boy paused to stare at his grimoire in awe.

The grimoire was black with a white sword, surrounded by a red fire-like aura as the cover mark. He handed the grimoire to Celestia, who took it with interest.

She inspected the cover then opened the book like most people who just unlock their grimoire. Most if not all of the pages were blank. Though there was one spell in the boy's grimoire that let Celestia know what his magic was.

"Arcane Transformation Magic: Demonic Beast. Creates a creature from any object. The creature's power depends on the object used. The more powerful an object, the more powerful the creature, but it makes the monster harder to control." Celestia read the spell in her head with interest.

"This magic is interesting. It's similar yet very different from both of their magic. It's a special form of Transformation Magic that I've never seen before, though. It would seem that there are two people of interest this year." Celestia thought with a smile.

"It would seem you wield an interesting form of magic as well, little one. But it's also dangerous to you as well. So you will need to practice a lot, especially in controlling your creations if you want to use your magic properly. I look forward to seeing how you grow, Mr-" Celestia said but paused at remembering she never got the little boy's name.

"Scarlet Vein, Princess." The boy replied.

"Well, Scarlet Vein, I look forward to seeing how you grow at my school." Celestia said with a smile as she handed the boy his grimoire.

Author's Notes:

So this is a mix between Black Clover and M.L.P. There will be several mixes between the two universes.

Everyone has magic like unicorns, but they can only use a specific attribute.

The cutie marks will be symbols on everyone's grimoires to symbolize both their personality, talent(s), and magic.

Grimoires are also given at birth but are not activated until the symbol is placed on the book. Meaning people are limited on what they can do with magic until their symbol is discovered.

There will be others, but I'm not going to quite say it out of worry it may spoil too much.
