Universal Crossing by Death

by A Grey Pony

Chapter 1: 1

My car parks itself infront of the garage. There is another car here. I get out of my car as it shuts itself off. I walk to the side door, and step through. A man is standing in the corner, his back to me.

“Hi, are you here to...” I begin to say as he turns around.

“Kill you so I can get the job? Of course,” he says while pulling out a large caliber handgun. This is the end. At least its fast.

“Is this because of AI?” I ask wanting an answer before I die. He raises the handgun.

“Don't be stupid. AI is the cause of everything,” he says, “Now, my good man, you will not get my job. You shouldn't have applied.” My vision turns red as I hear a deafening bang, and a very intemse pain in my head; then my vision goes black. I hear a beeping. Did I survive getting shot in the head? I wonder.

“Is she okay?” a strange voice says.

“She is now. Where did you find her?” a different voice answered.

“I found her in the Everfree,” the first voice answered. I open an eye and see two ponies; one purple alicorn and one white earth pony. I see a black furred foreleg. I left my right are, and the hooved foreleg moves. I scream and start flailing my arms. “Help her,” the purple alicorn yells. The white earth pony was already running up to me. I somehow hit the white pony into the wall, leaving tiny spot of red on the green wall.

I manage to calm down long enough to notice the purple pony had run away, and the white pony is laying in a heap. I try to stand up, but immediately lose my balance and hit my head on the wall. Everything goes black again.

Finally I open my eyes and see my forelegs tied together. I struggle a bit, but they don't loosen. Then I notice two ponies standing on the other side of the room.

The big white alicorn says, “What is your name, little pony?”

“My name is...” I start to say. I can't remember my name! “I don't know.”

“Dusk Shine work for you?” the big blue alicorn says.

“Dusk Shine?” I ask. What kind of name is that?

“Where do you came from?” the white alicorn asks.

“I... All I remember about that is that I was killed,” I reply.

“WHAT?” both alicorns yell in shock.

“Can I leave, now?” I ask.

“No. We don't know why you are here. You will stay here until we can send you back,” the blue alicorn says.

“But I'm dead where I came from. This is the afterlife, right?” I say.

“Then you are very mistaken,” to white alicorn says. The two alicorns step out of the room. Guess I'm stuck here. A pink earth pony bounces in.

“HI!” the pink pony says, “I'M PINKIE PIE, YOU'RE NEW; SO WELCOME TO PONYVILLE!”

“Are always so loud?” I ask, “Also, can you untie me?”

“Not always,” she replies as she unties my hooves. “Who are you?”

“I was given the name Dusk Shine. I don't know if it is really my name, but it works,” I answer as soon as all four legs are free.

“Come to Sugar Cube Corner, Dusk Shine,” the pony asks.

“Sorry, I need to get away from here. How do I leave?” I ask. So I don't get sent back to world where I'm dead.

“Follow me, silly mare,” the pony giggles.

“What? Mare? But I'm...” I say in shock as a sit up. Then I see a white tail what I lack. “This is new. Not only a different species, but a different gender too.”

“You are so silly,” the pink pony says.

We arrive at the train station. “Canterlot is that way,” Pinkie says as she points a hoof at a mountain in the distance, “That is where Celestia and Luna live.”

“So I'll go the other way,” I say before I jump across the tracks. I trot along side the tracks, hoping to get as far away as possible before I run out of track to follow.

“I thought you were getting a ticket,” Pinkie yells after me. I turn towards her. “I'll pay. Where do you want to go?” Pinkie asks. I jump across the tracks onto the platform.

“This will just make it easier to track me. I'll go on hoof,” I answer.

“I'm buying you a ticket. You don't get to say no,” Pinkie counters.

“Fine. End of the line,” I reply. I don't know how far that I but its a start. Pinkie goes over to the ticket counter.

“One ticket to the south to the end of the track,” Pinkie requests as she pulls several bits from somewhere. Upon receiving the ticket, she turn back to me and gives me the ticket. “Train arrives soon, good luck,” Pinkie says, then walks away and turns a corner. I hear crying as the train pulled in. Several ponies disembark, and I look at the ticket. I board the train, and find a seat. After several minutes pass and more ponies board and find seats, a blue pony with a green mane and tail sits beside me.

“Hello, how are you?” the pony asks.

“Um, I don't know,” I slowly answer.

“Where are you going? I'd be nice to travel with another mare,” the blue pony says.

“I wish I knew. I'm just trying to get as far away as possible,” I reply.

“Oh, then you could use a companion. My name is Blue Breeze, nice meet you,” Blue Breeze holds out a hoof.

“Dusk Shine,” I touch her hoof with mine.

“Do you mind if I call you Dusky?” Blue asks while tilting her head and lowering her ears.

“Then I'll call you Breezey,” I answer. Hope that gets her to use the right name.

“Okay, Dusky!” she says as her ears return to their normal position. She looks very pleased with herself. I bury my face in a hoof.
