Author's Notes:

I would like to thank ErrorPanda for helping me co-write this, it would LITERALY not be possible without them!

Also I would love to look over any feedback you have, As we both would love to know if any mistakes got through the cracks.

*Edit, yea- I edited this, I will keep trying to make it better until I realize I should probably focus on finishing the next chapters. And there will only be real rewriting for this first chapters as the true flow of this story is properly found.

Standing before the great opening crag of the beasts den, stood the greatest knight in all of Equestria. Lucky the Brave! Walking upon the scorched earth of the old continent, Lucky the Knight was here on a quest, to become legend! Before her stood the great instrument of her fame, the cave of a great wyrm. Lucky approached the cave, ready for glory on this warm summer night.

Her sword glinted in the moonlight as she faced her fearsome foe, the terrible Red Dragon, its snakelike orange eyes sizing up their heroic challenger. As they faced off the dragon prepared a mighty roar Lucky, knight of the realm, brandished her sword in her teeth. The Dragon roared and jumped towards the brave, beautiful, strong and witty knight.
Lucky expertly dodged away with a speed and finesse that would make even the great Rainbow Dash swoon.

The Great Horned reptile swung it's body around, it's tail suddenly upon Lucky the Knight. Swatting her out of the sky, then with a vile mocking grin. Then, the gloating dragon opened its wicked maw, Surely to breath death upon our great hero! Then with a great jump the dragon strikes a pose, singing “The roads are the dustiest, the winds are the gustiest” the reptile began to dance, an ivory cane and tie now adorning the great wyrms features. “the gates are the rustiest” continued the great beast as the world faded to black.

"shmergha!" was the tired response afforded by the annoyed Pegasus still lying in bed. To the obsessive and constant tune playing at the side of her bedframe lay a Pipbuck. A Pipbuck which is now the subject of great annoyance from the young Pegasi, who now plucked it from it's perch, atop the end table. As she held up the singing device in her hooves to better stare at the infernally beating hyper advanced wrist watch. Lucky could feel the beat and vibrations from the speakers, Who dared to awake her from her peaceful rest. With such catchy lyrics too!

Lucky noted the times earlier at which she had pressed the snooze button, she decided it was well past time to get out of bed, she silenced the wrist mounted device. Putting it on with, and snapping it closed As she rubbed the sleep from her eyes she began fondly remembered how she had come across the device whilst scavenging with her uncle.

Crunching the scraps of before-times trash under her hooves, she searches through the dumpster.

"Be careful Lucky!" called a mature Stallion's voice "you don't want to get cut by the scrap!"

The much younger Pegasus named Lucky paused her search to look back at the copper stallion hovering a small distance above her. This Stallion held a look of poorly masked concern as he looked down at Lucky.

“I’ll be fine, Uncle!” Lucky shouted back.

Making her way through the maze like piles of rusted metal and junk. Lucky picked through the canyons of old Chariots and ancient before times devices with their jagged rusty edges. Collecting items of value, old magic cells, and any computer chips she could find when something caught her eye.

It lay there, partially buried but on it’s own, atop an almost pedestal like mound of dirt presenting itself to her. A Pipbuck, and one that looked intact as well! It might even be possible to get the parts to repair it! Lucky was almost squealing in excitement as she went over to the device to dig it up….

========================================================================

Lucky giggled remembering the look of her Uncle's face when she presented her findings to him. But now it was time to get ready for the day. Rolling out of bed onto her hooves “Can’t let my friends weren’t going to have fun without me!” She thought as she went through her morning routine. Combing her frazzled mane, brushing her teeth, and trying to remember which book she . She was beginning to make her way through the door and out into the world, she could hear music of the great adventure beginning!
When she was interrupted by a startling “Harrumph!”. causing her to stop and spin on the spot. “Where do ya think yer goin miss?” deadpanned her uncle without even glancing up from the old Nova surge rifle he was working on.

“Um” Lucky said, remembering how her Uncle thought of her friends. “To look for scrap!” she proclaimed congratulating herself on her incredible excuse.

“Really, yer lookin for scrap…” he said, still not looking up from his gun. “Without saddlebags, in yer barding and without ANY form of self defense for raider, angry prospectors or all manner of wild animals?”

“Er” Was the best response Lucky could get out as her wing began to fiddle with the door handle. This finally made the stallion look over with his deadpan look as there was the start of a war of wills between the two. Lucky wondered if this counted as a staring contest and tried not to blink, though she was being betrayed by the dryness of her eyes.

“Fine, I don’t want tuh find out you got into some trouble, missy” he warned with a small yet somehow friendly glare.

“Thank you Thank you THANK YOU!” she gasped out as she flung herself out of the door and into the streets of the grand civilized City 34. Which of itself was an odd name Lucky thought as she began to walk through the flattened earthen streets. Just because it was built off a Stable does not make it the pinnacle of society right. Lucky remembered hearing of other places with the same origin? Her father had mentioned something about a social experiment, something involving incredible ego boosting? Lucky wasn’t listening at the time so it probably doesn't matter.

“What was I doing again?” Lucky thought as she stopped walking to ponder this new revelation that she had completely forgot what she was doing. It couldn’t possi-

*CHANG!* “Watch where ya goin, asshole!”

Lucky dodges out of the way of the angry stallions hoof, and ducks round the cart. Bringing her almost on top of another pony! Lucky barely dodges out of the way with a pair of flaps from her wings. Finally coming to a stop at the edge of the road. Lucky then began to ponder what she had been doing.

“Oh!” she thought as she resumed her original pace “I’m looking for my friends!” Walking down the labyrinthian streets of the city, lucky eventually found her way to a little hole in the wall. Lucky thought that it was an odd name for a bar, but it was often mentioned in her detective novels. But it was where her friends hung out ALL the time, Lucky didn't really know why. Certainly wasn’t the food.

The door chimed as Lucky entered the fine establishment. Her senses were immediately assaulted by the smell of beer and the somehow worse stench of cleaner. Odd since she never saw any actual cleaning here confirmed by all the stains that covered every inch of the bar. It was only the bar for some reason, this place was kooky, and that’s when she spotted her pals. They were huddled around a table near a corner of the bar.

“-And then she actually said something as though this were some sorta dumb book!” that was all that Lucky was able to make out of their conversation when she got close to them.

“Heya!” Lucky said approaching the group. Many of them looked away from her, one groaned. Lucky wondered if congestion or maybe just a little ache but wasn’t sure for him, the food here wasn’t the best anyhow.

“Hello Lucky.” said Silver. Silver had a reputation for knowing things or finding stuff out. Silver was also Lucky's BEST friend. So good a friend were they that Lucky knew that silver wasn’t even her real name! Silver was a little upset, but Lucky was able to make her cool with it. Because Silver is a cool, awesome, amazing pony, weird name or not- Lucky didn't care!

It was Pretortora or something hard for lucky to say. But besides the weird name, Silver was just the coolest, and the nicest, and the bestest friend Lucky had ever had! Some room was made for her at the table, and she leaned onto the scratchy wooden table.

“So, back to eh… Business” snaked out a stallion Lucky knew as Cabal. He was cool, almost as cool as Silver. Though he squinted a lot and seemed to always have chronic migraines at the most inopportune times. Basically the leader of the group, though with how often he had to cancel events just when Lucky was able to get in them was kinda deflating.

“Alright, so, everyone up for it?” Cabal said, looking between everyone. Whispers and mutterings shot through the group

“Those hold hags won’t know what hit ‘em!”

“Why are we doing this?”

“This is what we're doing because they kicked you out of their store?”

Lucky for her part, didn't really care what was going on. She was determined to be a part of this thing. She had missed far too many little events, and not to mention all of those parties, games, and hang outs!

“I can do it!” Lucky exclaimed. Cabal looked her over, she could see that he was deep in thought. “I am worthy” played through Lucky's mind over and over and over an-

“why is silver looking like that?” Thoughts began to race through Lucky's mind as she tried to find a reason for Silvers dour expression. Though before she can come to a conclusion, Cabal speaks up.

“Sure, you are actually the best pony for the job probably” he has a smile, one that she had never seen before. Silver just rolled her eyes and grumbled something. Cabal looked at her with a questioning look.

“Whatcha say?” Cabal asked.

“Uh...” Silver said, realizing she had been heard. “I have some stuff I got to do, can't come" Oh! Hey lucky realized she was going to be able to hang out with her friends, whatever they’re doing. Lucky already forgot what. Despite this with determination, Lucky was sure it was going to be great!
