Chapter 1: Trixie
"Mommy? Are we there yet?"
The energetic foal could hardly contain himself, almost a blur of
light blue as he tore in circles around the interior of the carriage.
His mother laughed gently, holding a hoof in front of him to bring
him to a halt.
"Calm down, Spark. We're almost
there." Failing to placate her young one, Trixie sighed as she
thought back to that day. Things had been almost polar opposites back
then; she had been the famous one, the "Great and Powerful
Trixie," and Twilight Sparkle had just been another face in the
crowd. Now things were reversed. Most everypony in Equestria knew who
Twilight Sparkle was, and hardly anypony remembered Trixie as
anything more than a crackpot street performer.
Suddenly, the carriage shuddered to a
halt, and the pony pulling shouted, "We're here!" Spark
jetted from the carriage, followed by Trixie. She stopped a moment to
unhitch the pony from the front of the carriage, then they gathered
Spark and approached the library they had travelled all this way to
visit. Raising a hoof, Trixie knocked.
"Hello?" A familiar face
peeked out of the open door to greet them: light purple coat, dark
purple and pink mane. No doubt about it, this was…
"Twilight? I'm not sure if you
remember me. It's Trixie." Recognition dawned on the purple
unicorn's face, followed by a subtle uneasiness. She had obviously
not forgotten Trixie's past behavior.
"I know we had our differences in
the past, but I want to move past all that. What you did back then
was so amazing, it made me realize how hollow my life really was. I
turned myself around, though. This is my husband, Patch, and my son.
We named him Spark, after you. Can we come in?"
Twilight smiled. "Sure, I
suppose."

A/N: Bam. Not counting this note,
exactly 300 words of Trixie goodness. I wrote this for Equestria
Daily's 300 word challenge, and although I was a bit frustrated at
not being able to put everything I wanted into it, I rather had fun
trying to communicate the message in fewer words than normal.
Unfortunately, I missed the deadline to send it in. Oh well. As
always, tell me what you think.
