Chapter 2: "Eternal night"

"Eternal night"

"Hmm, Elements of Harmony. I know I've heard of those before."

"But where?"

***

"Spike! Do you know what this means?"

***

"The Wonderbolts? The most talented fliers in all over Equestria?

***

"Oh no.."

"Nightmare Moon!"

***

"What was that?"

Jonathan woke up from his slumber. Sitting up, he recalled the weird dream. Why had he seen a dream with Twilight in it? What were the Elements of Harmony?  Who was Spike? Who were the Wonderbolts? Who was Nightmare Moon? The dream had felt like a movie trailer, just bits and pieces from all around it, nothing solid. He had hoped a good round of sleep would do good but all it did to him, was raise more questions. He thought about dismissing the dream and filing it under just-a-dream, but somehow he couldn't do it. As if, something was keeping him from doing it. The dream felt important, somehow. "Damn dreams..."

He didn't know how long he had slept. Regardless, he felt much better than before. His headache was almost gone and he felt better overall. His stomach however, decided to disagree with a groan. "Right, I haven't eaten anything in a while." Jonathan said to his stomach, holding a hand on top of it. His stomach let out an even louder groan in response. "Alright, in a LONG while."

"Wow, I heard that from here!" Said a slightly high-pitched voice from the door. Nurse Redheart, Twilight Sparkle and a brightly colored cyan pony with wings, stepped in. To Jonathan, her voice sounded familiar somehow. And to his dismay, she also looked familiar with that rainbow-mane. "I haven't seen her before, so why I feel like I know her?" Jonathan thought. The look on his face didn't go unnoticed by the newly arrived trio.

"Is something wrong?" Nurse Redheart asked as she stopped next to Jonathan's bed.

"I'm hungry."  He lied. Yes, he was hungry, but he lied about what was really wrong with him. Last thing he needs is to scare off the only people.. No, ponies he knows in this foreign place.

"I can't believe you two didn't hear that stomach groan!" The cyan pegasus said. "I guess my hearing is more awesome than yours!" Her voice was full of confidence.

All three turned their heads to look at the rainbow-mained pegasus.

"What?" The pegasus said innocently. "Maybe you should give him, I don't know, some food?"

Twilight turned back to look at Jonathan. "Jonathan, this is.."

"Rainbow Dash." Jonathan said, abruptly continuing her sentence.

"How did you.." The surprised and confused purple unicorn was interrupted by the cyan pegasus darting past her. Hovering right in front of Jonathan's face, Rainbow stared into his eyes.

"How'd you know my name?" She asked with anger in her voice, eyes full of determination. "Are you a spy?"

"Well, I did hear your last name earlier, when Nurse Redheart talked to you." Jonathan answered as-a-matter-of-factly. "And guessing your first name didn't need much work, your mane and tail being rainbow colored."

"That," she said, lowering her eyes. "Makes sense." Feeling slightly humiliated, the pegasus flew away with a few flaps of her wings and landed next to Twilight.

Jonathan had no idea where that name had come up from. "What the heck is going on..?" He thought to himself. "Brain, please enlighten me? Pretty please?"

Nurse Redheart and Twilight both looked at Jonathan, both trying to come up what to say, him trying to hide another groan from his hungry stomach with his hands.

"Looks like your concussion has gone away." The white earthpony said after a few seconds of silence. Having averted her eyes from Jonathan, she was now looking at a clipboard she had brought with her. "You are free to go, I no longer have to keep you in observation."

"So, I can go and eat something?"

"Yes, and we would've brought you something to eat before but since you kept sleeping for so long and we didn't want to disturb you.."

"That's okay, I needed the sleep. My headache is almost gone." Jonathan said with a dismissing wave of his hand. "The only remains are probably from a slight dehydration."

"How about we treat you to some lunch?" Suggested the purple unicorn with a smile.

"Sounds good." His stomach let out yet another groan. "Sounds very good!"
