Chapter 1: Part One - A Rescue and a Return

Part One - A Rescue and a Return

This was positively, absolutely, indubitably the best day of Discord's long, long life. All this time, searching for the ultimate source of chaos, and it came to him in a cookie. A small, black and white, incredibly fattening cookie!

The waves upon waves of chaos being emitted by Luna's consumption of the Double Stuff Oreo was sending Discord's brain into overdrive. It was all he could do to resist bursting in through the window and gobbling them all up for himself, just to see what would happen.

Meanwhile, the Princess of the Night was feeling an entirely different sensation.

***

This was positively, absolutely, indubitably the worst day in Luna's long, long life. Being banished to the moon was nothing compared to this kind of pain and humiliation.

After consuming the Double Stuff Oreo, Luna had felt like even more of a goddess than she already was. Her previous experience with the measly regular-stuffed snackfood was nothing compared to this. It was the pinnacle of all foodgasms... Until she realized she was stuck to the ceiling.

Upon swallowing, the pure goodness energy of the Oreo had caused her to unintentionally launch herself to the ceiling, some fifty feet above her, burying her horn into it... And trapping her. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get out. Despite the slowly increasing pain in her head, she refused to call for help. Celestia would never let her hear the end of it.

Several hours passed. Luna's skull felt like it would implode, but she still stubbornly kept her mouth shut. She was beginning to consider simply using her magic to blast the bejesus out of the ceiling, when suddenly...

"HI THERE PRINCESS!!!"

Surprise caused Luna to jump so hard, her horn came loose from its casing and she plummeted down to the ground, landing on something soft, which emitted an audible squeak.

Luna lay dazed for a moment, before she noticed the muffled voice coming from beneath her, "Grrmphmphmuhpluhs."

The princess of the night shakily stood upright once more, gazing down at the mass of pinkness on the floor: Pinkie Pie. Fantastic.

Pinkie was lying in what looked like a physically impossible heap of tangled limbs, with her head turned a full one hundred and eighty degrees towards Luna. Somehow, she untangled herself, with naught but a poofier-than-usual mane to show for her... Entanglement.

"Greeting, Pinkie Pie," Luna said, resigned to the fact that she would probably have to start a conversation with the hyperactive mare. "I thank thee for, erm, aiding me in my escape from the ceiling. But I must ask, how did thou know of my predicament?"

"Well," Pinkie began, taking an impossibly exaggerated deep breath, "I was walking along when I looked up at the castle and I thought, 'You know who I haven't seen in a while? Princess Luna!' so I bounced off as fast I could toward the castle and-" she took another deep breath, "and I looked in through your window and I saw that you were stuck to the ceiling so I thought 'Gosh, I've gotta get her down!' so I came in through the window and I stood beneath you and I said, 'Hi there, Princess!' and you fell on me and you asked me how I got here and started telling you this story and here we are!"

Luna didn't bother asking how Pinkie had gotten into the window, which was on the top floor of the castle. Frankly, she didn't want to know. She noticed Pinkie was taking another breath...

"So, Princess, how have you been lately OHMYGOSHARETHOSEOREOS?!"

Pinkie had noticed the plate of Oreos still sitting on here table. To Luna's horror, Pinkie bounded towards the pile of cookies.

"PINKIE, NO!" Luna yelled, but it was too late. Before she could do any more than yell, Pinkie had snatched up the plate and began gobbling down the Oreos. Luna froze, partially covering her face in preparation for the inevitable explosion...

... Which didn't come.

Luna opened her eyes and saw Pinkie staring at her, a mildly puzzled expression on her face. Nothing had happened to the mare other than a slight dilation of her pupils. Luna reasoned that Pinkie's already-infinite tendency towards chaos, explosions and snack-oriented hallucinations had cancelled out the Oreo's effect. This chilled Luna to her core, thinking of the pure, raw, unrestrained power within the lovable mare that stood before her.

Luna shook her head. Pinkie Pie had occupied herself by defying physics, and walking up Luna's bedroom walls.

Luna watched for a moment, mildly entertained, when her calm was shattered for the umpteenth time in seventy-two hours, by a new, yet eerily familiar voice, echoing through the room:

"Well, I must say, even I wan't expecting that..." the voice was a deep and smooth as silk, and as malevolent as... Something that is of the utmost malevolence. She knew the voice well: Discord. "I'd thought that the consumption of something so chaotic by someone of equal, if not, greater, chaotic nature would do something at least mildly entertaining... I suppose I figured wrong..."

Luna's mind was in a state of denial. He couldn't be back. Not again. Not now. She must be experiencing the aftereffects of the Double-Stuff Oreo.

But, seeing the startled look appear on Pinkie Pie's face and realizing that she heard it too, Luna was forced to confirm her own fear. Discord was back. Again. Bugger.

Steeling her resolve, Luna searched the room for the new menace, and spied him lazily floating through her window. "Discord," she said coldly.

"Princess," he replied, smiling and nodding his head toward Luna. "Pinkie," he said, doing the same for Pinkie Pie.

"DISCORD!!!" Pinkie exclaimed. She didn't sound at all dismayed to see the Draconequus return. In fact, she seemed rather exhilarated. "Can you make it rain chocolate milk again PLEEEEEEEAAAAAASSSSSSEEE?..."

"All in due time, my dear," Discord, who also subsequently looked pleased to see Pinkie, replied., speaking as a father does to an eager child. Perhaps he saw her as his chaotic counterpart.

This disturbed Luna even more.
