A quick message from the author (please read this first.)

Attention: I am the author of this story; I would like to thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this however I feel some people will be lost unless I add this, this being a small sum up of two different stories, one written by me and the other was written by an author named SPG Inc. these two lead ups will show you how all the characters got to this stage of the story and how they have reached this particular story, enjoy, (PS Mad House was never finished so I have taken some liberties but it is still a great story!)

Mad House: The Doctor accidently finds himself in another universe but in this one Batman is real and the Doctor has managed to find himself in the middle of Arkham Asylum while the Joker has taken control and locked Batman in. The Doctor tries to leave before getting involved but he hears the voice of an alternate reality Donna Noble on a radio who is trapped inside Arkham too and this convinces the Doctor to save her. Along the way Batman and the Doctor meet and although Batman wants him gone the Doctor won't budge and Batman reluctantly takes him along and along the way he discovers the Doctor's origins and the fact the Doctor knows who he is, together the pair stop the Joker but along the way they discover the plans for a building structure called Arkham city by a man named Hugo Strange. This worries the pair but as the Doctor is about to leave Batman assures him this will never happen, but as the Doctor sets to leave the universe he decides to make sure by forwarding to the time of supposed completion and see for himself.

My little Pony: Friendship is Murder: A detective named Marty Wright is fatally injured and is about to die when he is given an offer by an unknown being, die or become a saviour who travels to different universes that are in peril and save them, he accepts and is given the name Mr. Carnage. One year later he has become a shell of his former self, no longer the comical and fun loving spirit he is now a cold and calculative man but finds himself now a pony and embroiled in a serial killing in the land of Equestria, there he meets a Rainbow Haired Pegasus named Rainbow Dash who gives him a place to stay and becomes his assistant through the case. Throughout the journey the pair fall in love and he starts affectionately calling her Skittles, Carnage also finds his old self again and a new aura of self-belief, in the process of stopping the killer Carnage becomes human again but is drastically altered, he now has razor sharp teeth that can bite through metal, he can generate electricity and now has enhanced strength, in the end they stop the serial killer that would bring Equestria to its ruin but the two end their relationship due to Carnages species change, after an outer body experience where he meets his future self and he declares himself reborn and puts on face paint and the trilby hat Dash bought him and fully embraces himself as Mr. Carnage declaring "Marty Wright died that day and Mr. carnage was born from the ashes." Carnage is about to leave but in a bold move Rainbow Dash grabs on to him and leaps with him and Carnage and RD find themselves in the prison known as Arkham city.

The following is a picture of Mr. Carnage for those who don't know what the character looks like, this picture and the cover picture for this story were drawn by DontWakeTheNeighbour, please go on his page and look at his artwork and stories their very good.

One final thing to note is that Mad House was the fic that inspired me to write my own stories so I would like to extend a personal thank you to the author of that story, you may now continue on with the story, thank you.

Chapter 1: It's gonna be a long night

Chapter 1: It's gonna be a long night

As Rainbow Dash managed to flicker her eyes open and look around her surroundings she could immediately tell that it was gonna be a long night.

The sky was black and she was lying on something very uncomfortable. She could feel the cold wind blowing against her mane which felt surprisingly comforting but she figured she was used to that because of how high she had flown in the past but it didn't do much to make her feel at home.

Certain parts of her memory were starting to click into place at last and she remembered a lot of blue and disappearing. It was all a blur right now but one thing she could definitely remember was somepony called Carnage. She scanned through her brain for a mental image and she received a handsome pony and a weird looking humanoid creature.

It then finally clicked for her and she remembered Carnage completely. He was her former lover and she had just practically thrown her own life away just so she could travel with him and in the moment of remembrance she finally sat up and took in her surroundings fully. She had never been to a place quite like this, it was sought of like Canterlot in size but only bigger and bleaker. There was something sad about this city but she just couldn't put her hoof on it.

There were a lot of signs around the place and a lot of them said the word Arkham so she assumed that this was what this place was called. She didn't really like the name though, to her it didn't roll off the tongue like Ponyville or Trottingham or Los Pegasus as it was a dark name. In some weird way she felt like the name had some sort of dark history and actually found herself shivering, whether this was from the cold wind or the word she in all honesty could not say.

Everything in her head had pieced together now and she realised that Carnage should be close by. She looked around for a moment but instead of Carnage, she found a very large box in front of her. It looked very familiar to her, it was a big blue rectangular box and that's when it hit her, this was the one that Doctor Whooves lived in. He called it a Tardis or something like that but she didn't understand how he could be here, Whooves said it travelled through space and time but nothing about it going between universes.

Dash didn't want to think about it too much, she started to slightly panic when she still couldn't see her former lover but then she turned around and breathed a sigh of relief as she saw him standing at the edge of the building they were standing on with his hair flowing in the breeze while he held on to the hat she had given him on his head. But then he turned around to face her and although she could see a look of concern in his electric blue reptile like eyes she could also see a very excited smile from his Painted face, just from this look alone she could safely confirm her suspicions that the pair of them were in for a very long night.

Bruce Wayne's plan hadn't exactly gone the way that he wanted. He hadn't realised that Strange was this sure of himself to the point where he was willing to kidnap important people like himself in the middle of press conferences and now that he had been left by Strange and he looked at himself in the mirror he could tell there and then he was in for a long night. Well longer than usual for him anyway.

It was meant to be simple and this time in wouldn't involve him getting into a physical confrontation. He was confident that despite the cities flaws that there was no way it would allow what was going on behind Arkham's walls any further, many had already heard the stories and despite the fact that the now mayor of Gotham, Quincy Sharp had become a serial killer in Arkham Asylum (which Batman had no proof for) he was surprised that even he would allow what would inevitably explode onto the streets of Gotham.

He was handcuffed and he knew he couldn't escape now so his best bet was to get some sought of foothold in the city. He would need to get a way to monitor conversations amongst the lower level guards at least. Wayne remembered the promise he made the Doctor, it had suddenly crossed his mind, he knew he had lied back then as he wasn't truly sure what would happen and he was glad that the Doctor wouldn't be in this hell hole with him because he could already tell this was going to be worse than the Asylum.

Then he realised something. The floor had a trip sensor for any prisoners trying to escape and the guards would constantly be listening out for any noises. All he had to do was fall off his chair and set it off and this would give off enough sound as well, then a guard would run in to see what the problem is, this would give him the chance to take the guards encryption key from his radio so he could at least hear any conversations from the helicopters were monitoring around Arkham.

He had to make sure he did this right as he only had one shot at this so he blocked out any worries like Strange knowing his secret identity or the fact he was completely alone now, he could take care of it by himself like he always does.

He started to rock his chair back and forth to the side in an attempt to fall down gaining momentum with each swing to eventually he fell off his chair and a moment later a siren went off. One of Tyger guards entered to see what had happened and this time everything was falling into place for the dark knight. The guard shouted at him "What the hell are you doing? Did you think we wouldn't hear you?"

Little did the grunt know he had played right into Wayne's trap, as the guard attempted to kick him Bruce Wayne grabbed his leg and snapped the bone. The grunt cried out in pain and Wayne head-butted him knocking the guard out cold. Wayne quickly grabbed the guards radio and removed the chip inside it and hid it in his hand so no one could see. He didn't have time to do anything else as another guard entered and hit him in the head with the butt of his gun, the guard then smashed Wayne's head into the closest TV causing Wayne to become disorientated.

Bruce was dragged out to the courtyard and he could hear a load of the inmates starting to callout to him, "What are you doing here Wayne?"

"Did you kill your butler?"

"You're going to die in here rich boy!"

"Your mine!"

One of the guards shot an inmate to shut them up. Using fear tactics like Batman used only more vicious, it wasn't a surprise to him that the inmates knew who he was since he was meant to be the billionaire playboy. Another guard called out to him, "What are you waiting for Wayne, Line A, Move it!"

Wayne looked at the right corner and he could see Black Mask trying to fend off a load of the Tyger guards to no avail as he was soon tazered and subdued. The guards were brutal and they appeared to have a zero intolerance policy, he made no further resistance and simply followed the instructions given to him. There were more jeers from the inmates and the guards and Wayne felt himself being boxed in as he walked down the line. The other inmates moved out of the way for him but when he reached the end of the line he received another hit from a guard for his troubles, Strange intervened, "Lower your weapons, Mr. Wayne will not be any trouble, will you, Mr. Wayne?"

Bruce Wayne didn't answer his question and carried on as Strange told the guards to leave his cuffs on as that would make it to easy. Wayne was pushed before a large door and saw two other inmates but these ones were wearing blue and appeared to be political prisoners like him. A man in glasses turned to him and Wayne recognised his voice, "I can't believe I'm going to die in here, Bruce Wayne? Great."

It was Jack Ryder who was a presenter of a TV show that Wayne never watched but he remembered his voice from the radio in Arkham, Ryder started to almost lecture Wayne and in some weird way he was blaming Wayne for all his problems. Although he was annoying he couldn't let the man die so he said "Listen to me carefully. When they open the door do not panic, stay close to me."

Ryder just shrugged him off as the large door began to open, it was like the gates of hell had just opened before them as they could see wild screaming prisoners behind a thin metal fence and a pathway that led to another gate. Wayne called out to Ryder, "Stay calm, they're trying to scare us."

Ryder just ran and said "Sorry man, it's every man for himself."

That was the last thing Bruce Wayne wanted to hear as he saw the inmates climbing the fence. They immediately took out Ryder and the other prisoner and went for Wayne but he was ready, he had built his body to be ready for any situation. An inmate tried to get him from behind but Wayne flipped him over and Wayne dislocated his hand. The other inmates were a little surprised but charged at him anyway. The other three were taken out in similar fashions with either dislocated or broken bones in their arms or legs but this only fuelled the wild screaming from the prisoners and Bruce went to pick Ryder up knowing the other prisoner didn't make it, "On your feet Ryder."

He had to make sure he got this man out alive at least, "I said get up!"

The now injured and disoriented Ryder grabbed on to him and Bruce helped him towards the final gate but as the gate opened Batman heard an all too familiar voice. "Well look who it is, welcome to hell Brucey-boy."

Batman felt a led pipe hit him from behind and he fell to the ground in pain letting Ryder fall as well. He tried to get up but felt the same led pipe hit him in the back of the head.

The world slowed down as a mixture of pain and numbness started to overtake Bruce Wayne. He couldn't hear the Penguin anymore but saw his foot about to collide with his face. The last thought that went through Bruce Wayne's mind was that it definitely was going to be a long night…

The Doctor had finished setting his course and had safely landed the Tardis in position. What appeared on the monitor before him showed what was outside the Tardis and the worst possible scenario had indeed happened. Arkham city had been built. He could tell just from the little he saw on the monitor that he was in for a long night.

He turned off the monitor in frustration and he swore he could hear some sort of electric like sound outside the Tardis but he blocked it out as he was just too frustrated. He began to talk to himself which he sometimes did when he had no companion to accompany him, "Stupid humans. they never do listen do they, I always tell them stuff like 'Don't wonder off' or 'Don't touch that' or 'Don't let an insane psychiatrist build a city wide time bomb' but nope none of them listen do they."

He let out a heavy sigh. He was tired and lonely, he only recently lost Donna twice now as he had to leave her behind again since this was her reality and the rules of the universe stated a Timelord was not allowed to purposely take another to a different universe. Luckily last time with the Cybermen he got there by accident, he wondered if he had caused enough damage already and the thought came to him that maybe he should just leave now.

The Doctor was just a little bit over 900 years old. He was in his 10th form from his 9th regeneration, the fact that he was getting old wasn't lost on him and whenever he thought about this it just made him more tired. He figured that Batman would likely have some sought of foothold on this place whether that meant he was here or was at least monitoring could make whatever he had to do a lot easier but then he asked himself what does he have to do.

It wasn't a case of whether Batman needed help, last time to even the Doctors surprise he actually had to save the Dark Knight but Batman must be prepared this time and he doubted Batman would have been caught off guard again but also this world wasn't any of his business. Although he was one to break the rules on occasion the one set of rules he always kept was the rules of time and space. He had been taught since he was a child living on Gallifrey that he had no business in any other universe. He had broken that rule at least twice now, once when he was trapped and had no choice and the second time when he let his emotions get the better of him, in all honesty he was one switch away from leaving and avoiding any more damage to the barriers between universes but then he heard four knocks on the door.

He looked up in suprise. The only thing that passed his lips was a "What?"

He spoke again "What?"

He couldn't believe it, no one ever noticed the Tardis let alone knocked on the door to see if someone was inside. he fixed up the black suit he was wearing and put on his large brown overcoat and when he opened the door the two beings before him told him that he was in for a long and unusual night.

As Carnage focused on the sign that read Arkham he knew for sure that he was in for a long night. Despite this though he found himself smiling, even a little laugh managed to escape his lips, it was so ridiculous but at the same time all so wonderful.

About one year ago Marty Wright a seventeen year old detective wannabe was killed when he stopped a serial killer once and for all. But from his death was born a new persona, Mr. Carnage. He put on face paint to give himself a new identity and now he was reborn. He was now stronger, had razor sharp teeth that can bite through steel and could even generate electricity although he hadn't used it much since gaining these abilities. He figured that he might be smiling because he knew he was in a world of people, stupid, ignorant, imaginative, wonderful people.

It didn't make sense to him as Batman and Doctor Who have never existed in the same continuity but they existed in different forms of media in his world and someone was bound to have done a fanfiction he thought. He then considered that Rainbow Dash might have actually been on a show but he would have not likely heard of it, he imagined a show about pastel coloured big headed ponies wouldn't really appeal to him or gain a large cult following but he accepted the possibility as stranger things have happened.

For some reason Carnage felt a song coming to his lips, and he didn't know exactly why but he started to sing this…

Run to the hills,

Run for your life,

Run to…

Then Carnage spotted his Cyan companion had awoken from her slumber. He put on a big smile for her so she wouldn't be scared of this strange world around her. Despite how Rainbow Dash nearly always acted he knew better, "Well hello there sleepy head, how are you there?"

Dash looked around a little more. She had an idea what this place was called but hoped that Carnage could provide a further explanation, "Carnage where are we? Do you know at all?"

"Well it appears that the area that we are currently standing is part of some form of prison complex created from a section of a city and I'm guessing the cities name is Gotham city. Basically the place we are at is called Arkham city, it's all over the posters around here which appear to have been created for intimidation purposes. Lovely place isn't it apart from… well… everything but never judge a book by its cover you never know the locals might genuinely be lovely people."

Then from the distance the two heard a blood curdling scream of a man who would make his final sound. The two looked at each other again and Rainbow Dash raised an eyebrow, Carnage conceded, "Very well Skittles, were in a shithole. I hope that makes you feel better, damn it Rainbow Dash why did you do that?"

Rainbow tried to play innocent but she knew exactly what he was referring to, "What? What did I do? You better have something good detective."

"You shouldn't have jumped on me like that, now you're here as well and I don't know what I'd do if something hap…"

Carnage stopped himself before he said anymore. Dash looked up at him in wonder, "If what happened Marty?"

"Don't call me that… I'm sorry, you don't know how happy I really am that I don't have to do this alone anymore it's just… I don't want you to die because of me, that would kill me Dash."

"I made that decision not you, I wouldn't die because of you and I'm loyal to my friends. I don't abandon them."

"What about you're other friends? How are they going to react to your disappearance?"

"I left them a note…"

"OH GOD DAMN IT DASH YOU DON'T THINK ANYTHING THROUGH DO YOU! NOW YOU'LL PROBABLY NEVER SEE EQUESTRIA AGAIN"

Dash recoiled slightly, she rarely heard Carnage raise his voice especially to her. Carnage tried to calm himself down he placed his hands on his face so Dash couldn't see his expression. He whispered inside his own head, What's done is done, don't get mad at her as she's helped us so much. Hell I loved her and I still kind of do, just go back to happy Carnage at least for her. He pulled his hands from his face and now he was wearing a smile, he also spoke with exuberance, "Well what's done is done so we might as well make the best of it. So where shall we go?

Dash was relived he had calmed down but now a question was on her mind. "Well what do we do then, how do you know what to do?"

"Well that's very interesting actually, you see what normally happens Skittles is that the problem kinda comes to me, like when you found me and I heard the scream of the first murder victim, there's always an obvious clue that leads me on an adventure… and I just realised that it has been staring me in the face this entire time."

Carnage pointed to the Tardis before them, it was so obvious to him now that he felt stupid for not realising it sooner. The Doctor in his show always managed to find himself in one adventure or another and this would likely be no different. "Skittles, basically we have to follow the man or Timelord in that box and he will eventually lead us to whatever we are supposed to do."

"And you know this how?"

"Because I said so and after all I am Mr. Carnage."

He winked at and Rainbow Dash who responded by rolling her eyes. He stepped up to her and stroked her mane and said "Trust me alright. I know what I'm doing, now let's see which one it is."

Dash was confused again, what did he mean which one. "Hey what do you mean which one?"

"The Doctor regenerates his body. When I left my world he was on his eleventh form so it will be interesting to see the man behind this door."

"Really which one is your favourite?"

"All of them."

"They can't all be your favourite."

"Oh yes they can. It's like if I asked you for your favourite Daring Doo book. You wouldn't be able to decide which one was the best, each doctor is so unique in every way and so wonderful in every way… but in all honesty if I had to pick a favourite it would have to be number 10."

"Why is that?"

They had reached the front door to the Tardis and Carnage was so excited that he forgot to answer Dash's question. He knocked four times on the door and the man he saw open it caused Carnage to grow the biggest smile on his face.

To him even if this was truly destined to be a long night, it might also be one the greatest nights in his entire life…

Ra's Al Ghul watched from the building above. He was weak but he could still see. He witnessed Penguins goons starting to drag Bruce Wayne or how Ra's knew him better, Batman, into an alleyway presumably for a beating but Ra's laughed to himself knowing that they had no idea what they were bringing upon themselves.

He also witnessed a mysterious blue box appear on top of the building below him. He had lived a long time, more than 500 years, and he recognised it as an old police box from England but why and how it appeared was lost to him but he found something far more worthy of his notice.

A couple of seconds after the blue box had materialised what looked like lightning striking the roof left two beings behind. One looked somewhat like a blue pony with a rainbow mane, she also had wings so he figured that she must be a Pegasus by the way she looked but the person beside her was what really caught his notice.

His fashion style was unique, his Trilby hat, his blue shirt and black tie, his black vest and black jeans, he stuck out to say the least but that wasn't what caught his eye. It was his face paint, that style was familiar to him.

His daughter Talia joined him now with several of the leagues assassins. she asked "You wanted to see me father, you should not be out here you are weak. What if we lost your body we can't revive what we don't have."

Ra's ignored his daughters questioning, "Do you see the man lying there?"

"Yes, wait is that Bruce?"

"He is not important right now."

Talia was shocked to say the least. Her father had tried to initiate Batman for years as he wanted him to become the new leader of the league of assassins. "Father why has this… unusual looking man been given priority over Batman?"

"All will be revealed soon my daughter but for now I want an assassin tracking his movements at all times. I need to know what he is doing, for now he is top priority."

"Would you not rather us take him now why he is vulnerable if he's a threat."

"No! Do not worry Talia, we shall see him soon. Now let us return I must rejuvenate my body in the pit."

Ra's Al Ghul and his protégées made their way back. Just before he left he turned around and whispered under his breath "I will see you soon Mr. Carnage…"

Next chapter, Mr. Carnage meets the legend himself, the Dark Knight, The Batman, what will the Batman's reaction be to a man who he doesn't even know knowing his secret identity.

Chapter 2: Captain Charisma & the Dark Knight

Please leave a like and follow if you like this story, it motivates me to write more.

Mr. Carnage is about to meet the Doctor but is the Doctor ready for Mr. Carnage? Also Batman has been taken by the penguin, what lies in store for him?

Chapter 2: Captain Charisma & The Dark Knight

The Doctor was very rarely left speechless when he opened the door to the Tardis. Normally he would say something along the lines of 'Brilliant' or 'This is fantastic' or 'Here we are then' or 'Well this is interesting' but he wasn't really sure exactly what he should say because even for his standards this was a little weird.

Two different beings stood before him. They were an odd couple to say the least, one looked like a pony with wings so he guessed that she was some kind of Pegasus, what was weirder was that she had a Cyan body and a rainbow coloured mane, it was beautiful but a little odd. There was also a man and his dress style could give him a run for his money but apart from that he looked like a relatively normal human being… apart from the face paint and the his eyes and his shard teeth and what looked like electric sparks occasionally popping out of his hands. The strange man was the first to speak "Wow… just wow its actually you I mean… it's a freaking honour sir I can't…"

Rainbow Dash whacked him on the side of the leg "Please don't turn into a fan boy that's so not cool for a supposed to be saviour of worlds."

She brushed her mane out of her face to make herself look as awesome as possible but Carnage knew something she didn't want him to. "Really? Not cool huh? I think I remember the time you received that Daring Doo book from Twilight one day and when you flew upstairs I distinctly remember the noise that you made was something like, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee…"

Carnage found a hoof in his mouth and received a stern look from Rainbow Dash. The Doctor had decided that the pony could be a figment of his imagination or some sort of holographic trick or perhaps a robot so he scanned her with his sonic screwdriver. Dash stepped back a bit, she was a little surprised by the strange device and the noise that it emitted but Carnage knew exactly what it was so he put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. The Doctor viewed the results, "No your definitely real and organic for that matter… wait a minute the energy reading around you two is very familiar, just hold on a second."

The Doctor rushed himself back into the Tardis. Carnage thought he must have been looking for something and he turned to Rainbow Dash and shrugged. She simply shook her head and she thought that if all humans were like this then she might as well have stayed home. She asked "Are all humans as weird as you and the Doctor?"

"Well he isn't a human Rainbow Dash he's a Timelord."

"What's that? Do they control time or something?"

"No but they travel through it and were the race that were the best at it to a degree. On occasion they could make new dimensions and stuff like that, basically their aliens like what Pinkie Pie believed were real."

"What did you mean by 'were'?"

Carnage felt best not to tell Dash as she didn't need to be further depressed today at the thought of being the last of your kind but then he realised that she kind of was in this case as there were none other ponies like her in this reality, "It doesn't matter Skittles, forget I said that."

Rainbow Dash made a mental note of asking the Doctor about it later when suddenly the Timelord himself appeared now sporting funny glasses. Carnage recognised them as the 3-D glasses that the Doctor used to see the void stuff people had on them when they went through the void. The Doctor spoke after observing them with the glasses for a moment, "That's… you both have trace amount of the void on you but neither of you have actually gone through it, in fact it's completely different, it isn't from the void… that's impossible. My people closed up all the cracks in the universe years ago, how did you both get here?"

They both looked at each other. Carnage realised something, "You know what actually I never did tell you what Luna told me did I Skittles? I guess this will be sharing time."

Dash rolled her eyes but she had to admit she was curious and now she knew that Luna had something to do with all of this. Carnage began "Look I don't know if you're going to believe me or not but everything I say is what I was told. Your about 900 years old right."

The Doctor stepped back a little. Carnage managed to guess his age. At best to humans he looked like he was in his late 20's early 30's but this man managed to get it right, "How did you know that, I'm about 904."

"Oh right so you just lost Donna as your assistant right?"

"How… could you know who Donna Noble is. I can't feel you attempting to read my mind, how do you have this information?"

"Okay I see I crossed a line there so let's start again. According to Luna who is about 1000 years old by the way, all the universes somehow became aligned with each other and all the most powerful beings in each world so I think she meant individual planets too got to make a decision that affected every universe. They foresaw each of their worlds would be destroyed unless they got a champion or a symbol, they chose to make a hero to save them. I nearly died about a year ago but randomly I was given the offer to become this hero, apparently many have failed but according to Luna I've been the most successful and now it turns out I can take people or ponies in this case with me if they are touching me. So that's why we are here to save this universe or planet, by the way my name is Mr. Carnage."

"Carnage? Carnage who?"

"Just Mr. Carnage… it's interesting to be on the other side of that isn't it Doctor?"

"You're not going to tell me how you know my name either are you?"

"Nope, tell you what if we all survive this I'll tell you how I know, deal?"

He stuck out his hand for the Doctor to shake. The Doctor found this interesting man to be somewhat mysterious and if history showed anything about the Doctor is that he likes mysterious. The Doctor found a smile appear on his face as there was something about Carnage that reminded him of himself and shook his hand to secure the deal. Rainbow Dash was completely lost, "Okay sorry, what just happened?"

"Well it appears we are now all working together Skittles. Now Doctor this lovely young mare is Rainbow Dash."

A smile was now firmly on the Doctor's face as he shook Dash's hoof, "A pleasure to meet you Rainbow Dash."

Carnage continued "What are you doing here? I'm assuming that this isn't your own universe your in."

"No your right, I sought of need to help someone who may not want my help but may need it despite how good he is…

Their attention was taken by the thick British accent that was like Carnage's only more nasty and harsh coming from the alleyway below. "Right he'll be awake in a minute, put him in front of me so I can smash his rich boy face in."

The three of them walked to the edge of the building and peered down the alleyway to see what was going on. They could see a small man who seemed to have the bottom of a glass bottle for a monocle. He was ordering a bunch of goons to hold a man in place and to watch. Carnage and the Doctor knew exactly who this was, it was the Penguin and they also knew the well-dressed unconscious man they had as their prisoner. It was none other than Bruce Wayne, the Batman, the Doctor and Carnage said in unison "Penguin has Batman."

The pair looked at each other in surprise and they both said "You know his secret identity."

Carnage then figured it out "Oh I get it now, this is the guy you owe huh?"

"Yeah your right, it's a long story but a quick version is that we stopped Joker when he took over Arkham but we found plans by Strange to create all of this. Batman said it would never go through but as you can see that wasn't the case, this is Arkham city."

Rainbow Dash was left out of the loop again, "I'm sorry who is Batman and what makes him so special."

Carnage explained "Basically he's a superhero. Kind of like your Batemare or Mare Do Well or Daring Doo. He uses gadgets to stop criminals and has supervillans but he also has a secret identity that he has to keep, isn't that right Doctor?"

The Doctor now had a cheeseburger in his hand and was about to take a bite, Carnage stopped him "I'm sorry when did you get a cheeseburger?"

"I was hungry so before I came I got a burger from Gotham's Burger King. I got hungry during your explanation so I quickly got it, you want some?"

"In the immortal words of Stone Cold, hell yeah! I've been eating grass for the last couple of days."

The Doctor tore half his burger off now feeling sympathy for Carnage. Carnage was about to take a bite out of the cheeseburger but then Rainbow Dash called out "Wait is that meat?"

"Um… yes it is."

"You can't eat that!"

"Why not?"

"Because that was alive."

"Your point being?

"What is that anyway?"

"It was a cow."

Dash's jaw nearly hit the floor, "A Cow! You can't eat that!"

"It's not my fault whoever put them on this earth made them so damn tasty."

"I can't believe that humans eat meat, that's… that's sick!"

"Rainbow Dash remember when I ended the relationship."

"Yeah, why bring that up?"

"Well this is the other reason I ended it, I love you and hell we might have gotten past the species boundary cause I have to admit in a weird way you're still kina hot but I'm not going to spend the rest of my life not eating meat so now if you'll excuse…"

Carnage took a bite and noticed that Batman was stirring awake. Dash noticed this too and asked "Hey aren't we going to help? I mean doesn't he like need our help?"

The Doctor and Carnage looked at each other, both were trying to keep a straight face but ended failing miserably as they both broke into laughter. Carnage was just able to give Dash a cohesive sentence "Don't worry Dash, just you watch."

Bruce Wayne better known as Batman was just awakening. The last thing he remembered was a shoe colliding to his face that belonged to the penguin, as Batman opened his eyes he could make out a few of Penguins guards and the midget himself. Batman was being held by two more goons but he was too disorientated to fight back after being hit in the back of the head with what felt like a lead pipe but then he was thrown to the ground by Penguins feet. The Penguin mocked him and said "Wakey-Wakey, Wayne!"

As Batman started to rise he noticed the brass knuckles in Penguins right hand and he knew exactly what Cobblepot had in store for him. Penguin continued his mocking in order to fill his own ego, "Oh, what's up? Do you need me to call your butler?"

He definitely knew who it was now as he had that distinct voice, "Cobblepot."

"Aw you remember me, I'm touched."

The Penguin then went on a tirade while he placed his brass knuckles on his left hand. "Your family destroyed mine Wayne, this… well let's call this good old-fashioned revenge."

Just as Penguin lifted his left hand to strike Wayne, Batman grabbed the hand before it hit his face and dislocated it. The Penguin recoiled trying to nurse his hand and screamed a pathetic scream. Batman realised he was still cuffed now as Penguin called out to the guards around them, "GET HIM!"

There were about five and as the first charged at him, Batman immediately whacked him away with a double axe handle strike. The goon recoiled but it was not enough to knock him out. The Penguin called out "Hurt him, I think he's broken my bloody hand!"

After knocking away a second goon a third wearing a Penguin ski mask charged at Batman the exact way Batman wanted him to. The goon tried to punch Wayne in the gut but he deflected his shot. He then pulled the goons head down and used his left leg to strike the goon with his knee, this broke his cuffs effectively knocked the goon out. Through the momentum of the strike both his handcuffs and his leg cuffs shattered and he was free. One of the goons was surprised and obviously too dumb to work out who he was, "He broke free! How'd he do that?"

Batman didn't hold back as he immediately went at the goon behind him laying two strikes on him that knocked him off his feet. Another charged at him from behind but he grabbed his foot, knocked him over and hit him in the crotch. Batman used his sudden momentum to knock out a third goon with one strike and then smashed the head of the first goon to make sure he stayed down. The final goon was all alone now ang he made one final attempt to take Wayne out but found his head in Wayne's arm as Batman performed a DDT on him effectively knocking the last goon out.

Penguin was desperately trying to get out but the metal fence prevented him from doing so. He cried out in anger "When this is all over Wayne, I'll personally break every bone in your hand!"

Batman knew that he had to get to higher ground so he could contact his butler, Alfred Pennyworth. But took a small amount of pleasure over knocking out the Penguin with an uppercut.

The three of them watched in awe. They had finished their food and Carnage was even drooling a little. No one spoke as they watched Batman starting to climb to the roof. Batman had climbed the dumpster when Carnage finally got words out of his mouth, "THAT WAS AWESOME!"

Dash also seemed to find a new hero and talked as fast as Pinkie did when she was rambling, "ohmygoshohmygoshthatwassoawseomethatwascoolerthananythingDaringDoohaseverdonebecausethatwasrealanddidyouseewhenhecrotchedthatguyandthenimmediatelyknockedtheotheroneoutinonepunchthatwassoAWESOME!"

She made that weird kissy face she usually made when she went into fan-girl mode and the Doctor said "If you thought that was impressive you should have seen him take on a venom enhanced joker on top of Arkham Asylum."

Batman had now climbed the ladder and walked along the scaffolding. It looked like he was trying to figure out a way to get to the roof, Carnage wasn't sure how he was going to approach Batman but he knew he needed his help to shut down the city. "Skittles I know what we gotta do, the city is somehow going to affect planet so we need to shut it down."

"How do you know that?"

"Well we didn't know that a serial killer would have turned all of Equestria into his own personal plaything did we? No it's going to affect the planet that's for sure and we'll need Batman's help."

The Doctor nodded in agreement, "I think your right, you should let me approach him first as he knows me."

Batman had jumped on top of a ventilation system that was sticking out of a wall and then climbed another ladder to get to the roof. He was on the building to the left of them and the three of them carefully climbed onto the ventilation system and followed the same path apart from Dash who just flew. They were about to climb the ladder when they could hear Batman's voice above, "Alfred have you got my location?"

Carnage knew he was talking to his butler and peeked over the ladder to see Batman had gone to another building and was talking through his watch. The voice replied but Carnage couldn't make it out, Batman spoke again, "I need an immediate drop on the Ace chemicals building, I'm on my way there now."

Carnage could see the building he was talking about. Dash appeared and was crouching down so Batman couldn't see her, the Doctor followed Carnage and they stayed out of Batman's field of vision. They all figured it would be best for him to suit up first before confronting him in order to not spook him. Carnage wondered however if that was even possible.

Batman stood there for a moment as he appeared to be waiting. He then took a couple of steps back and jumped to a ledge of the building, grabbing on to it with ease, he made his way around as the three of them got out of their hiding places and the Doctor and Carnage looked at each other as if to say 'how the hell do we do that?' Dash flew to the gap and nodded to them as she could fit. She started to follow. Carnage decided to test his new strength "Alright Doctor, get on my back."

The Timelord raised an eyebrow to this and Carnage rolled his eyes, "Look it's hard to explain but I'm stronger now so I might be able to hold your weight and the ledge."

"Might huh?"

"Oh you have no right to judge the plan you pretty much wing it all the time."

"Well that's true… oh alright then this can only end in disaster but I'll do it because I like you."

Carnage gave himself an inner high-five and the Doctor got in position for the piggyback. Carnage without even thinking about it jumped and grabbed onto the ledge and was amazed at how little effort he had put in. He followed along and heard something drop on the roof presumably whatever the Dark Knight wanted.

Rainbow Dash was waiting by a ladder and urged them to hurry up, they got to the ladder. Dash flew up while the other two followed suit with the ladder. They crouched under a sign and spotted a patrolling helicopter and found themselves having to hang again off a ledge. The Doctor hoped this wouldn't be a constant thing tonight, they eventually reached another ladder and Carnage muttered something about why there were so many damn ladders but climbed on anyway.

The pair had to make a leap and spotted Rainbow Dash blowing them a raspberry as if to mock them for not having wings (which Carnage was secretly envious of) after climbing one last ladder they found the Dark knight now in full costume with his back to them. Carnage put a finger to his lips so his associates knew to be quiet. Batman now spoke through an earpiece, "Alfred, I took an encryption key from a TYGER guard, I'm going to hack into their communications."

Batman then pulled out a chip and put it in some sort of decoder. Carnage told them to wait there as he wanted to hear what was being said clearer. He edged his way over as it appeared that Batman had indeed cracked the code. Carnage could just make out a voice from Batman's earpiece and it sounded like it was coming from a helicopter, "All units this is Air TYGER 4. We have confirmation that prisoner 4011 is in the courthouse. I repeat Catwoman is in the courthouse."

Carnage then heard another voice questioning the helicopter. it sounded strangely sinister. "Is she in danger?"

"Affirmative, target is being held by Dent, we believe he intends to kill her how should we proceed?"

A sinister cackle could be heard over the earpiece, "Stand down, let Two-face have his fun."

Carnage was enraged. This man had the power to stop this but he would just allow someone to be killed. Carnage called out in frustration "That bastard how could he… uh oh."

Batman had now turned to Carnage. His glare was like he was looking into Carnages soul, the Doctor and Dash just watched to see what would happen. Carnage tried to defuse the situation, "Alright hold on there Bruce… I mean Batman… I mean… oh shit."

Carnage now found Batman's gloved hand around his throat. Batman held Carnage over the edge of the building, Rainbow Dash didn't hesitate and flew to save him but found a fist in her face as she fell back in pain. Batman got a clear look at the 'man' before him. His face paint was striking and his teeth and eyes were not human, he questioned him as the Doctor went to aid the fallen Rainbow Dash, "Who are you? how do you know my name?"

"Ha ha I get it now. Alright then my superhero name is… CAPTAIN CHARISMA!"

Batman raised an eyebrow as if to say, 'Seriously?' so Carnage retorted, "Hey don't judge me, that's an awesome name."

Dash and the Doctor walked up to Batman who was still hanging Carnage over the edge of a building. Dash asked "Where did you get that name?"

"From Captain Charisma himself, Christian!"

Carnage then started to sing Christians old theme song…

"Christian! Christian!

At last you're on your own-o-o-o-o-own,

Duh duh duh duh duh…

He was stopped by Batman who threw him back on the building. To him he was dealing with a fool but then he recognised the man in the brown overcoat. "Wait! Doctor? What are you doing here?"

"Ah you know me, just popping by."

Batman looked down at the winged Pegasus and showed zero emotion on his face. He turned back to the Doctor, "Is this an alien?"

"Close she's actually from another universe like our blue friend here."

Carnage got up slightly nursing his throat, "Hello! That's me, and may I just say sir that you are awesome… so let's go save Catwoman."

"No! I'm saving Catwoman you three stay here."

"Oh c'mon you don't even know our names. I'm Mr. Carnage and the lovely young mare there is Rainbow Dash, now let's go."

The Doctor spoke, "Apparently he's part of some cosmic mission to save planets in danger and I would use him. I believe he's telling the truth."

"This is not a negotiation! None of you can come and yes that also means you Doctor. This isn't the asylum. There are a lot more dangerous criminals running around here so all of you find a good spot to hide for the night and stay hidden."

Batman was about to take off but then he was interrupted by Mr. Carnage, "Wait! Before you go can you do one thing for me?"

"What is it?"

"Can you… I mean can… this is difficult to ask but… CAN YOU SAY I'M BATMAN?"

Carnage curled both his hands in a ball and pressed them against his face while he jumped up and down in excitement. Batman looked at him a little confused, "Are you asking me to call you Batman?"

"No I want you to say the line I'm Batman."

Rainbow Dash just looked at Carnage in utter confusion as to why he would want him to say this while the Doctor face palmed himself. "Oh I knew I forgot to ask him to do something before I left the first time and this is it, go on do it."

"I don't know it's…"

Carnage looked at him with innocent childlike eyes. "Please do this for me…"

"I'm not sure why you would…"

"Do it and I promise not to follow you."

The Dark Knight let out a sigh and brought his cape up and said "I'm Batman!"

"YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!"

The Doctor and Mr. Carnage jumped up in the air and high fived each other. All Rainbow Dash could do at the scene before her was simply facehoof and she muttered under her breath "I can't believe at the end of the day he's such a foal."

Before anything else could be said Batman flew off in the direction of the courthouse where Catwoman was being held. The three of them just stood there watching him fly before Rainbow Dash said "So are we just going to hide somewhere?"

Mr. Carnage responded "Well of course not, were going to go down there and help him."

"But you made a promise."

"I made a promise for me not to go and I never said anything about you guys, besides I can go."

The Doctor questioned this, "How come then?"

"Oh Doctor, you're a 900 year old Timelord. Surely in all that time you've heard of the concept of keeping your fingers crossed when making a promise."

Can Batman save Catwoman? And can Carnage and co. do as their told? Not likely.

Chapter 3: Two –Face (or according to Mr. Carnage the dreaded Double-Face!)

The only thing that was important to Batman right now was that he had to find Selina now. He knew she was at the courthouse but he also knew she wasn't exactly in a great position right now considering she was a 'guest' of Two-Face.

He quietly reflected while flying in the air. He would be lying if he said he didn't feel anything for Catwoman so that's why he doesn't say anything about it full stop, but every time he looked at her his only thought is why can't you be on the other side. It wasn't like he didn't understand at all, he had spent years of his life trying to understand the criminal mind and Selina's history made sense for her to be part of that life but she could have so easily turned the other way to.

Before his mind had been taken away by Mr. Carnage back at Ace chemicals he had noticed that quite a number of prisoners in orange jump suits were all walking into the courthouse. Batman realised that this was nothing but a show of power, a show of force to let everyone in here know that he meant business and he would soon be the top dog in Arkham, it was a recruitment drive.

Normally Selina could handle herself but Batman knew what he had to do. She was either stalling or she was genuinely in trouble and he couldn't take the risk. However on the plus side she might know more about what's going on in Arkham and she might be more willing to tell him if he saves her but that was unlikely.

Dent would be interesting to deal with as he usually was. A long time ago Batman, Dent and Gordon worked together in order to bring down the Falcone's once and for all but after the acid incident Harvey Dent was a changed man. He now uses a coin to make all his decisions and is obsessed with duality, Batman had constantly hoped for the day that Two-Face would become Harvey Dent again but that day had yet to come.

Batman landed on a building overlooking the courthouse. He looked back to where he took off but he could not see the Doctor, the pony or that bizarre man, something bothered him about the fact that he knew his identity. The Doctor certainly wouldn't have told him so he would have to question the individual once this was all over, he could only hope that they indeed followed his advice and hide somewhere until this was all over.

There were only ten goons outside the courthouse. Some of them were beckoning other to come join two-face's gang, they were no match for Batman. He glided down and took one out while others came to help but they all fell in similar fashions with either broken or dislocated bones, Batman with no further resistance walked into the courthouse.

As soon as he entered he could tell that Harvey had been all over the place, it was like the courthouse had been split into two with one side in relatively good condition while the other side looked like it was decaying and rotting with bits of the floor missing.

He heard lots of commotion from behind the doors and realised that they had already started and were now waiting for Two-Face. Even the staircase had partially been picked apart to suit Two-face's style which was duality. He imagined that the Mr. Carnage character would have likely made a joke about the condition of the courthouse but Batman just kept trying to block him out. It must have been something to do with what the Doctor said about Carnage's job being that of saving planets and universes, was he really in trouble, no he couldn't let himself think like that and he decided to press on.

When he reached the top of the stairs he made his way down the cleaner corridor and found himself at a door. He went in and voices from the inmates were much louder and were no longer muffled. There was a glass window overlooking the courtroom, there were at least over twenty inmates below and they were all waiting for Dent. Two-face appeared to be arguing with himself on what to do next and Batman knew it was really his good side arguing with his bad side.

In the end he flipped his coin but Batman assumed it was the unscratched side as he didn't kill Selina. Catwoman was being hanged from her feet over what looked like a pool of acid and if she was lowered it would be certain death. Two-Face slapped Selina after a comment she made that Batman did not hear but Batman did hear what Two-Face said to the goons below, "This court is now in session."

Batman made his way to the ladder on the far side of the room and could hear Harvey's speech to the inmates who wanted to join him, "Welcome people of Arkham City, it's good to see so many new faces in the crowd, Fresh faces for the gang, Today we present each of you with an exciting new opportunity…"

Batman had climbed to the top of the ladder and was now above the courtroom on a ledge. As he suspected there was a gunman up here that was overlooking the courtroom, Batman snuck up to the gunman and flipped him over and put a hand over his mouth, in a mixture of surprise and lack of oxygen the gunman passed out. With that Batman thought the rest the goons would be relatively easy to handle, he could hear Harvey continuing, "Two opportunities, to join us, to create a new force in Arkham…"

A stretch of rope hung above the courthouse, Batman followed it and used it as a tightrope and found himself directly above them, he could now see another tied up individual but he didn't look like an inmate…

"Now before you, you will also see a guard, a little gift from an old green acquaintance. Apparently this man is police office, or the better term, a pig, he will be all yours after the trial of Catwoman here."

Batman now stood on the tight ropes centre preparing to drop on the unsuspecting goons below, their numbers were large but he was confident that he could overcome them but before he made the leap he caught the voice of someone familiar. "Wow now hold on here folks, I'm a man for cruel and unusual punishment but why don't we let the beautiful lady go huh?"

The only thought that went through Batman's head as he saw Mr. Carnage strut right into the courtroom was he isn't really doing this is he?! What is he doing? Two-face and his hopeful initiates all turned to the bizarre looking man (as bizarre looking as Two-face) just strut into the room. Two-face pointed his gun at him, "Who the hell are you?"

Batman stood there for a moment. He knew he should clean house right now but he was curious to see what would happen, "Who am I? Why I am the midnight delight, the man who never loses his smile, Captain Charisma himself… but you may call me Mr. Carnage."

Carnage looked behind him quickly. Batman could see the Doctor peeking behind the door that Carnage had just came through, the Doctor wasn't one for physical confrontations so that suited him just fine. Rainbow Dash was now above them where Batman was, he saw her as he looked behind, she peeked over the ledge and she appeared ready to pounce, Carnage also spotted Batman on the tightrope and winked at him. Two-face and the hopeful initiates were so focused on Carnage that they didn't notice the Dark Knight above. Carnage continued, "Now I'm pretty sure that I know your name. Now let me just think for a second… are you triple face? Nope wait there's two sides… um… oh is it Two-Side? No that's stupid… Oh I remember now. Your Double-Face! It was so obvious."

To say that Two-Face was pissed off would be an understatement, he screamed "I'm Two-Face and you will show us some respect! We're gonna run this city soon!"

"Wow you have a lot of anger Double-Face, you should see someone about that."

Everyone was in position and Batman could see what he was planning. A co-ordinated attack and he had become part of it. It was so simple now, Carnage distracted Two-face while everyone took position, he and Carnage took care of Two-faces thugs, Rainbow Dash would fly across the room and directly attack two-face thus distracting him and this would give the Doctor time and space to free Catwoman. It was actually… very clever and the Dark Knight found himself going along with it, Two-face appeared to have had enough "God your as bad as the clown, now let's see who should take care of you, you get this side we deal with you ourselves but if you get this side one of these boys get the honour, you look all flash and no substance."

Two-Face flipped his trademark coin and placed it on his hand he saw it had landed on the undamaged side. He sent the closest goon to attack. Carnage put a finger up to tell everyone not to attack yet, he finally got a chance to see what he could really do. Carnage had never really been in a fight before apart from when he died but he imagined killing the killer as well didn't really count as a victory but possibly a draw so technically he was undefeated. So this would be interesting, the goon didn't take him very seriously and said "Alright boy let's see what you got."

Some of the other goons laughed and the attacking goon threw a punch. Carnage narrowly dodged it and countered with a uppercut to the chin. As soon as the strike hit the goon felt a surge of electricity in his brain knock him out cold and for good measure he was knocked further than anyone could have guessed and he face planted against the wall. Two-Face looked shocked at the realisation of what Carnage was, "Crap he's a super! All of you get him!"

At that moment Carnage shouted now and the Dark Knight descended on the thugs while Rainbow Dash zoomed across the room and head-butted Two-Face in the stomach. He recoiled in pain and dropped his gun while Rainbow Dash pounded on him with her hoofs and then he screamed out "WHAT THE HELL IS THIS THING!"

The Doctor took this opportunity to try and save Catwoman. He stayed to the edges of the courthouse trying to avoid any confrontations, the thugs were too busy with Batman and Mr. Carnage to pay any attention to Two-face's screams or the Doctor running past them. Carnage was doing well for a man who had never really fought, his electricity was almost controlled and it didn't appear to be killing any goons but rather stunning them, but Batman was cleaning house. Goons were flying everywhere and if someone was keeping score Batman would be winning by a country mile.

The Doctor had gotten up to the stage and snuck past Dash who was pounding on a very confused Two-face and tried to untie Catwoman. Catwoman had no clue what was going on or who three of the people (the other was a pony) who were trying to save her even were, "Hey listen, not that I don't appreciate the save and all but you wouldn't mind telling who you guys are would you handsome?"

The Doctor responded as he got his sonic screwdriver out of his coat pocket, "No time for that I'm afraid were just winging it… that's the story of my life actually."

Two-face was then able to get a grip on reality and his anger exploded as he threw Rainbow Dash off of him. "That is enough!"

Rainbow Dash flew against the wall and as Carnage knocked out another goon he spotted this. Then he saw Two-face pick up his gun and kick the downed Pegasus in the gut and Rainbow Dash screamed out in pain. It was like being kicked in the gut by a dragon to her as she was dealing with something three times her size, "That's what you get you little bitch! I don't know what the hell you are but you'll get yours after I'm done with her!"

Carnage rushed over to her aid but Two-Face spotted him and Carnage dodged out of the way before he could fire his gun but Two-face now lined up his shot at the Dark Knight who had taken out the last goon, "Objection…"

Dent fired his gun and it was direct hit to Batman who fell over on impact. Carnage rushed to his aid as Dent blew the smoke from the gun, "Overruled!"

He marched towards the still tied up Catwoman to see the Doctor fiddling with some device. The Doctor quickly slid it in his sleeve pocket so Dent couldn't see it, "You stop right there, it appears I have someone else who wants to take the executioners block…"

The Doctor tried to reason with him, "Harvey Dent you are a man of justice not an executioner, let us go. There are people who can help you if you just believe in them, I believe in Harvey Dent and I know that your wife still does as well."

"Gilda? But I… No we don't need her anymore, now pick a side…"

"Whichever one gets me out alive would be nice."

Two-face gave off a sinister chuckle, "Wrong answer."

He flipped the coin and in the moment he was distracted the Doctor smoothly let the Screwdriver fall out of his sleeve and in to his hand and pressed it against the rope. He pressed the button and the screwdriver broke the rope. Catwoman didn't waste any time and scratched the scarred side of Harvey Dents face. Catwoman completely broke free and leapt right next to the Doctor as Two-Face fell off the stage and on to the ground. Catwoman proceeded to mock, "No gun Harv? Shame, this is gonna hurt."

Her claws were now revealed but then Two-Face pulled out another gun, "Two guns bitch!"

The Doctor and Catwoman ducked but Two-Face found himself being pulled upwards and was now hanging from his feet courtesy of Batman. He had recovered moments ago after Carnage shook him awake. Carnage was now untying the police officer and the Doctor was helping up Rainbow Dash who insisted that she was fine, Batman connected Two-Face up so that he was now hanging over the pool of acid.

Catwoman strolled up to the tied up man and said "How's it hanging Harv?"

She was about to kick him but then she spotted the Pegasus pony who had helped save her, "I think you deserve to take a shot at him blue."

Dash nodded and proceeded to buck the defenceless Two-face repeatedly in the stomach. The police man told Carnage he just needed a minute and Carnage saw the treatment Dent was receiving from Dash, "Alright Dash that's enough."

Rainbow flew to him,"Oh c'mon Carnage this guy's a jerk. He totally deserves the clobbering he gets."

"Heh, you sound like the Thing"

"What Thing?"

"Oh… never mind, but whether or not he's a jerk or not isn't the point. You have to understand Dash that mentally well, he's just not there anymore."

"But what about Spike? He was loopy as heck but you don't seem cut up about him."

"Well I don't think Spike was really insane I just think that was his true personality that had been building up and was finally released when he saw the mare he wanted to be with and idolised and adored, with another mare."

Catwoman turned to Batman, "Anyone ever tell you your full of surprises. I see you've got a couple of new sidekicks but the one with the face paint seems like the only one dressed for the part."

Mr. Carnage walked up to her, "Excuse me Miss but I'm no one's sidekick and the names Mr. Carnage. That's the Doctor and that's Rainbow Dash."

Batman turned the conversation back, "I thought you could use my help Selina."

"Your right, I think I chipped a nail back there."

"Funny."

Dash snickered a little and Catwoman commented, "I have to say I like your little friend there, she's got a fire and she's pretty cute."

Dash flew up to her and looked a little cross, "Hey, who you calling cute?"

"Settle down there blue I'm just joking around, so what do you need Mr. Detective?"

Carnage responded, "Yes? Oh sorry you're talking to Batman."

Batman spoke, "Wait a second, you're a detective too?"

"Well I guess I technically am."

Catwoman looked at the pair, "My my, two detectives? Looks like I'm spoiled for choice."

Dash looked crosser now, the Doctor stepped forward, "Batman here needs to ask you something."

"Protocol 10, what do you know Selina?"

She simply shrugged at the Dark knight's question, "Never heard of it."

Carnage was now curious, "What's important about this protocol 10?"

"The man who runs this city is called Strange, he locked me up here but he said something called protocol 10 will make him famous."

Carnage thought the name Strange sounded awfully familiar to him. The Doctor asked "What about Strange?"

"I don't trust him, he's been missing for years and then he's put in charge of running Arkham City. Rumour has it he's been working with the Joker planning something very special for Batman, maybe that's protocol 10?"

Now that was a name that rang alarm bells in Carnage's head, but as Selina continued both he and Batman spotted a light on Selina's head. Carnage called out to watch out and Batman pulled her out of the way as a sniper bullet went through the window, Dash was surprised and flew back a little but immediately went back to keeping her cool image. Catwoman commented "This place is dangerous, I like it. You expecting a kiss?"

Batman stood back a little, "It was Joker, you're not safe, no one is."

Dash spoke, "How'd you know it was this Joker?"

"I just know, I always know when it's him."

Catwoman then made her exit, not saying another word. The Doctor inspected the bullet hole that was made in the glass, "We might be able to find out where he shot the bullet from this."

Carnage confirmed "Your right, this could show a trajectory but we have nothing to measure it with."

Batman knew exactly what to do, "Step back all of you, I'll find it out."

Carnage knew better than to question the Dark Knight in this department, he walked up to the police man and asked, "So who was that green friend that Two-Face mentioned? The one that captured you I'm assuming."

"Yeah your right buddy. It was the Riddler and a bunch of his goons, he's got something brewing but he told me to give this to Batman."

"Okay I'll give to him, you just get to safety.

The police man didn't say another word a he left. Carnage looked over it and it was some kind of riddle box, all he had to do was match letters to create a whole word and the answer to the riddle. There were some numbers edged in it and times to activate it them, the numbers were 2-7-5, 3-2-5.

Batman walked up to the three and Carnage told him what the guard had said and the numbers, "I know what this is, let me put them in."

He opened up the device he used to scan the chip from earlier and put the numbers in. Then they heard a message, "At last, Batman I have set up a series of challenges for you and the prize being the lives of these fools. Are you ready to begin? Answer the riddle in the box and I'll give you the coordinates, can you solve it?"

Batman stood up, "Give me the box."

Carnage said "Oh I already solved it."

"You what?

"Yeah it was easy. The riddle was 'If you know me you'll want to share me, but if you share me I'll be gone, what am I?' it was obviously a secret, here's the location."

As he gave the box to Batman, Rainbow Dash said "You're still an egghead I see."

The Doctor showed mocked offense, "Hey watch it you, we eggheads have to stick together. Anyway where did the bullet come from?"

"The church but I'll have to save the hostage first."

"Alright then, let's go check out the church."

"No all of you stay here. If you barricade the doors you should be fine."

Dash flew up to Batman's face, "Hey you need us, we can't catch this guy if no one goes now."

"This is not up for debate, I understand you want to help but you'll just get in my way."

Before anyone could say anything Batman ran out of the courthouse. Carnage stood there and asked "Right so who's up to going to the church?"

Rainbow Dash wasn't sure, "I don't know? He seemed pretty serious this time round."

The Doctor explained "We can't risk Joker getting away though, especially if he's partially behind all of this."

Carnage turned back to Two-Face, "Right see you around Double-Face!"

After an angry growl from Two-Face, the prying eyes of Catwoman rom a rooftop witnessed the three of them using the back exit to leave before she herself went off on her own personal mission…

Batman has gone off to save a hostage from the Riddler while Carnage, the Doctor and Rainbow Dash go off to investigate the church where the sniper shot was taken.

Chapter 4: The clock strikes Joker

As Batman left the courthouse he could hear the words of Strange over his ear piece saying "Protocol 10 will commence in 10 hours."

That had nearly distracted him from the goons outside the courthouse who were looking for their leader only to run into the Dark Knight. While Batman easily disposed of the thugs the realisation that he only had 10 hours to stop whatever Strange was doing was now looming over him.

For a moment he thought that he might actually need some help, there was a group inside the courthouse who were willing at least but he couldn't bring himself to do it. The people he dealt with were not of stable mind and he could not predict what could happen, if any of them were to die because of him then he would never forgive himself.

As the last goon fell Batman looked above and saw a mysterious figure watching him, he had no clue who this man was but all he was doing was just staring at him from above. Batman took out a batarang from his utility belt and threw it to test him. The batarang flew through the air, it moved like a hot knife cutting through butter but the intended target instead caught it before it struck him, he just inspected the device for a moment before letting it drop and continued with his staring.

Batman wasn't sure what to do now. He could either confront him or leave, and Batman wasn't one for just leaving so he shot himself straight up to the building. He landed just inches away from the figure but he still didn't move, he appeared to be black and he wore a white costume with a red hood and red facial mask. Batman was about to speak but was cut off by the figure, "Are you the one the prophecy spoke of?"

Before Batman could even consider answering the question the figure got the large glowing blade that was attached to his arm and stuck it into the ground, he then made a circular shape around himself using the blade and a large amount of smoke covered the Dark knights vision. He was so surprised that he had to cover his eyes because of the possibility that it could have blinded him but once the smoke had cleared there was nothing and no one around. There was however a large shape left on the ground.

The shape was too specific to not mean anything. it was two thirds of a circle with a line through it and at the end of the line was a bunch of circles getting smaller and smaller. Batman scanned the shape and decided to keep an eye out for whoever this figure was but for now he had to get to the hostage.

It didn't take him long however to come across something else that seemed off, just outside the Krank toy factory a distress flare had been set off. Now more than ever did he wish that someone was helping him but he couldn't just ignore it, there were a number of thugs outside but it appeared that they too had come about the distress flare but for alternative reasons.

There were only three so despite the fact they had guns they weren't much of an issue for Batman, after they had been taken care of Batman noticed the very large teddy bear on top of the factory and this alone gave him an idea of who could be in there.

As he entered there was now a very large corridor ahead of him but he could see a very large figure who appeared to be working on something. It was obvious to Batman who it was but he still approached as he was curious to why Bane would ignite a distress flare. As he walked down thoughts of the possibility of this being a trap were running rampart in his mind but there was nothing really to suggest that this was a trap apart from the fact it was Bane who he was dealing with so he continued on anyway.

He stepped over the teddy bear which was likely a replacement for Otis and approached the 8ft man in front of him. Bane turned around to face his old rival and he had a surprising grin on his face and he spoke with his thick Mexican accent, "Surprised to see me Batman?"

In some way despite Banes size Batman always had an ability to talk down to all no matter who they were. But he was wary not to piss off Bane as he didn't need to deal with him as well tonight but there were times when Batman just couldn't help himself, "A little, last time I saw you, you were wrapped around the hood of my car."

"You knew it would not kill me."

"I wasn't trying to, I'm in no mood for a fight, what are you doing here?"

Batman decided to get to the point of this whole distress flare nonsense and Bane was more than happy to tell. "Doctor Young's Titan formula, the payaso managed to send some off of Arkham Island before you stopped him."

"How much more did Joker manage to get off the island?"

"Too much, that is why I am here. I will not allow the basura of this city to abuse the Titan. Dr. Young used me to create it, it is my duty to destroy what remains."

Bane had a history of honour and fulfilling obligations but there was something fishy about all of this, however if there really was Titan all over the place then he needed to destroy it before it got abused to much, "I'll help you but understand this. If you try anything, I'm taking you down too, we find Titan containers. We destroy them, deal?"

Bane let out a small chuckle, "Of course, each container had a radio beacon built in, there were twelve containers left in the city, we take six each and then we meet back here."

"Six each? Fine, today isn't a good day to lie to me Bane. Remember that."

Bane said nothing else and simply turned around to continue plotting, Batman also left without saying a word. He doubted he could fully trust Bane and was waiting for any kind of betrayal, it was better to deal with it when you see it coming, but Batman had enough at this point and went straight towards the supposed location of the Riddler hostage.

Meanwhile…

Carnage, the Doctor and Rainbow Dash had taken the back exit in order to not run into Batman. They had come across a man who appeared to have some sort of brain surgery and was identifying himself as Calendar Man, he kept asking what was Rainbow Dash's birthday and if he could tell them about his experience on St Patrick's Day but Carnage told her not to say anything and just move on.

They were now on their way to the church, Rainbow Dash looked like she was thinking intently about something and to Carnage that wasn't a good sign. He didn't really know what to say as he had never seen her like this, he'd seen her upset, happy, lustful and had even seen her cry but never like this. Luckily the Doctor had noticed too and said "You know Rainbow Dash, you are very lucky."

She looked like she was knocked out of her trance and looked up at him, "How so?"

"I've had a lot of companions that have joined me in adventures around the universe but very few had ever seen another universe, what was the place called where you came from?"

"Oh that was Equestria."

"Then let me put this in perspective for you. You, Rainbow Dash of Equestria, are the first to go to another universe in your entire world's history I'm willing to bet."

Rainbow Dash suddenly had a sense of pride engulf her which slightly made her ego grow, and Carnage didn't think it could have gotten any bigger but Carnage took this opportunity despite the possibility of inflating her ego further to cheer her up, "You know what else Doctor. Not only that but Rainbow Dash is also the one and only element of loyalty."

The Doctor looked very intrigued, "Really? What's that then?"

"You see Rainbow Dash has become one of the elements of harmony. The elements of harmony consist of magic, joy, generosity, honesty, kindness and loyalty, so we certainly won't see Skittles here abandoning any of us."

A large smile was planted on Dash's face as she was filled up with pride. She beamed a way and flew next to the pair with a returned sense of pride, she got up next to Carnage and kissed him on the cheek, she whispered a thank you to him but the realisation of the kiss suddenly dawned upon her. Memories of their time together flooded her mind, she knew it was selfish but she wished he'd stayed a pony. She recalled her first love, it had taken her a month to get past her own personality and stubbornness and ask him out but it didn't last long and it never really felt right, the same was said when she was with Spitfire.

Their relationship was built on two separate view points. Spitfire thought Dash was hot and Dash wanted to be a Wonderbolt, but when she was with Carnage it was different. She thought as a pony he was cute, she loved his charm and the enigma that always surrounded him, she even loved the fact he was an egghead but now she could never have him back, he could never be hers again and Dash didn't like it when she didn't get what she wanted. She was also thinking things she had never thought before when Catwoman had flirted with Carnage, her thoughts were interrupted by Carnage, "So what were you thinking about earlier Dash."

The three of them were well on their way to the church as they walked down the dark streets, they were all surprised by how little resistance they had actually come across. They only occasionally found the odd orange jumpsuit inmate and they were quickly disposed of by Dash and Carnage. Dash was a little confused by his question though, she wondered how he could have known, "How did you know?"

The Doctor answered the question, "Simple, you had one of those faces. Yours in particular involved you biting your lip."

Dash let out a sigh, "It's just… I don't understand that Batman guy. We offer to help but he just keeps turning us away for some reason, what's his problem?"

Carnage and the Doctor looked at each other, both trying to figure out what to say exactly. Carnage took the initiative, "Look Dash he's had a very hard life, and this has made him sort of a loner. Despite his teammates and being a founding member of the Justice League he generally prefers to go alone."

"But what happened to him?"

The Doctor and Carnage were hesitant to say but the Doctor gave in, "… his parents were murdered in front of his eyes when he was very young."

Nothing was said between the three of them for what felt like ages, Dash wanted answers and she certainly got them and now an awkward air hung among them. she finally said, "I can't imagine what I'd do if my parents had died."

Carnage asked, "Skittles can I ask you a question?"

"Yeah sure, what is it?"

"If we ever get back to Equestria then for me could you visit your parents in Trottingham? I'm sure they would love to see you."

The Doctor then said something that neither Carnage nor Dash were prepared for "You know I get the sense that you two might have been something more in the past…"

Dash and Carnage looked at each other not exactly sure what to say.

The Doctor continued, "From my years of experience I'd almost say you two were previously…

Carnage cut him off, "Oh look at that, were here!"

The three of them stood at an old metal gate and beyond the gate was a large church. The place of worship looked abandoned like many of the buildings in Arkham but Carnage felt that such a large building had to have someone in it so they would have to be careful.

They walked past a couple of gravestones which unnerved Dash slightly and they arrived at the spiritual building. Carnage was born and raised Christian however he had always had doubts about his faith and his recent adventures had only made those doubts grow.

Looking around to make sure there wasn't a trap satisfied Carnage enough and he began to explain the plan, "Okay guys, the bullet must have been fired from the top of the bell tower. Skittles I want you to fly up ahead and check it out, be careful though as there might be a trap up there."

Dash wasn't bothered, she thought she could handle anything up there and found Carnages worrying to pointless. "Quit it. I'm not a filly like Scootaloo, I can take care of myself. What are you guys doing anyway?"

"Me and the Doctor will check out the church to make sure there isn't anyone in trouble in here. Plus whoever fired the bullet could be just behind this door so we'll need to catch them, sound good to you Doctor?"

"Oh yes, normally I lead but I like the plan."

Dash nodded and flew upwards, the Doctor watched in awe at her speed as she began to show off a little. "Wow, she sure is something isn't she, taken from her own world and with the possibility of never seeing it again looming over her, but despite that she carries right on, you sure she isn't British?"

"Pretty sure, her parents now live in the pony version of England but yeah I'm certain. She's pretty incredible isn't she."

As the pair walked into the church they immediately heard the clicking of guns and before them were three armed thugs who had their guns pointed directly at them. There was a scantily clad woman in front of them now with clown make-up and she spoke in a thick Boston accent, "Hey! Who are you losers?"

Batman had followed the directions exactly and now he found himself at a wall. The wall in question was in a damp, dark street and it had a large green question mark painted on it using spray paint. It was clear that this is where Riddler wanted Batman to go.

He went straight up to the supposed brick wall and knocked on it, the sound it produced was hollow, which meant this was wood and easy to break down. He rammed it once and the wooden wall nearly completely gave way and all it took after that was a kick and a large hole emerged from the sound of crashing wood and splinters. Batman walked through and went straight through the door.

As he walked through he could see a holographic projection of the Riddler appear in front of him. Riddler began as he usually did with gloating and mocking, "So you decided to finally show up did you?"

Batman knew what the answer to his demand would be but he said it anyway, "Let them go Riddler, their innocent."

"Don't be stupid Dark Knight. They wouldn't find themselves in the predicament they are currently in if they had tried to think a few steps a head, now would they? And to correct you it's one, more will come, you'll see."

Batman had a bad feeling about what he meant by that but before he could ask. Riddler continued, "Now, if you solve the room ahead and four equally challenging ones and I will be providing those soon, you save them. If you don't then they die and we'll see if society crumbles at their passing."

Batman had only one observation and it was an obvious one, "You're insane."

Riddler seemed to get angry at this, "No! That would imply mental illness or derangement, I suffer from neither. Oh and yes, I can see you Batman and I look forward to watching you fail."

Riddler then turned his back and the projection turned off. Batman didn't waste any time as he tried to open the door but it was locked and Riddler appeared again saying, "Are you so stupid that you can't even open a simple door?"

Batman quickly realised his mistake when he looked behind and saw the electric green question mark that had a button at the end. Batman hit the button with a batarang and the door opened, Riddler's voice could be heard as Batman saw the hostage above him, tied to a chair on a small platform. "Very good Dark Knight, you've successfully figured out how to open a door."

Batman could hear the tied up man calling for help but now the Bat had a new problem, the floor was in multiple panels and they were all electrified apart from the one Batman was on. He saw an elevator at the far end and question mark buttons on the walls and that's when he knew what he had to do.

He threw a batarang at the question mark button at the far end and a pathway opened up. This button turned off certain pads electric currents which created a path for the Dark Knight to run across, he ran across as he could hear a timer and Riddler spoke over the intercom, "Oh very good Batman. I see you have begun to understand the puzzle, bathe in the glory of your primitive conquest, it will be your last."

Batman had made it to a safe pad that was not electrified as the countered stopped and the pads he had walked on were now electrified again. Batman wasn't worried though as he examined the wiring he could see which button to hit next and as he did the new pathway opened. As he ran across Riddler spoke again, "I hope you don't think all of my puzzles will be that simple."

He again narrowly made it to a safe point and he realised all the path ways were shaped like question marks, he could predict how to get to the final one now and he hit the final switch.

He made it to the elevator with time to spare but it didn't move. He realised there was one button left and when he hit it the elevator started to rise, he was now just above the hostage and he glided down to his rescue. Riddler appeared one last time, "Don't feel too pleased with yourself Dark Knight, that room was one of the easy ones."

He knew Riddler was lying through his teeth but he didn't dwell on it as he saved the last hostage and got him just outside the building. As soon as they got out the man said "6-2-5 9-2-5 and only use those numbers when it corresponded on the time on the box, that's what he told me to tell you. I don't know what it means but he told me he'd kill the future hostages if I didn't tell you exactly what he said, why doesn't he just tell you what he wants?"

Batman had one simple answer, "Because he's insane."

"You don't say."

"I'll take you back where you were stationed just…"

They then suddenly heard an explosion in the distance, Batman took the man to the roof and they watched the bell tower of the church explode…

Several minutes earlier…

The woman now identified as Harley Quinn started doing flips towards the Doctor and Carnage and brandished a knife, she got closer and closer and was preparing to do some form of finishing attack, however she was taking a while to get there and the pair had enough time to look at each other, nod, and when Harley moved into position the two stepped aside and she landed flat on her face.

She landed painfully and then one of the goons said "Let the lady go! If either of you two freaks touch her then these people get a bullet in the head!"

Carnage and the Doctor looked to see what he meant and there were a number of guards and policemen with their hands behind their heads in the middle of the room, the doctor said "Oh hey that's not very nice, I expected better from a mindless goon… actually with that hoodie you look more like a badly behaved school boy. You're a hoodie, a happy slappy hoodie, a happy slappy hoodie with ASBO's and ringtones, eh, oh yeah"

Carnage smirked and shook his head, he looked at the blonde (who was living up to the stereotype as she picked herself up) Carnage said "And you must Harley Quinn, nice to meet you apart from you holding hostages of course. Although I must say what you lack in fighting ability and brains you make up in hotness, don't you agree Doctor?"

The Doctor didn't reply as a mental image of Rose had popped into his head, Harley Quinn was up now and looked at the odd man. "Who the heck are you two supposed to be?"

"Why I'm Mr. Carnage and this is the Doctor."

"Yes that's me, hello."

Harley shook her head, "Ugh, Mister J won't be happy Bat freak isn't here."

Carnage countered, "Watch your tone young lady, you're not in my good books right now with all the innocent people you have trapped here and your hotness is barely keeping you in the green."

He was flirting with her on purpose, like last time with Celestia but he knew it would get under her skin. She only had eyes for her Mister J after all. She responded, "Oh really? What do you think of my new outfit?"

That was not the response Carnage thought he would get but words fell out his mouth, "Very nice I have to say. I love what you done with the hair to. It gives you the whole sexy clown look. I mean what can I say, I'm a sucka for face paint…

The Doctor interrupted him before he went any further "I'm sorry to interrupt… this, but are you flirting with the maniacal clown woman? Not only that but this maniacal clown woman's boyfriend is the Joker."

"Three points Doctor. One shut up I can do what I like, two no one's perfect and three, you flirted with a tree woman, a cat lady and a woman who looked like Kylie Minogue."

"… fair point."

Harley Quinn continued, "What was I saying? Of course you do, who wouldn't?"

Carnage only nodded his head while the Doctor averted his eyes. Harley thought of something, "I know, you can give B-man a message for me. Mister J is really not up to a visit from him, he's not feeling himself…"

The pair raised an eyebrow and the Doctor asked "You mean he's ill?"

"Well actually… never mind, he's just not doing so good and that idiot doctor I sent from here didn't help. I've seen more help from these bozos."

Carnage put sympathetic look on, "Oh that's not very nice, I'm sure these up standing gentlemen are your ideas men."

The goon at the far left said, "Well actually I do have a few ideas and I think the Joker can be a little harsh…"

The goon in the middle slapped him over the head, "Dude, seriously? He's being sarcastic."

Harley just shook her head, "You see what I mean? I've got to run now so boys, if they try anything funny, KILL THEM! See you later Doctor and… Mister C."

Harley took her leave but as she left Carnage swore she winked at him. Carnage turned to the Doctor who clearly saw the same thing, "Doctor, I'm going to make you a promise. By the end of the night I am at least going to make out with her."

The Doctor rolled his eyes and they refocused on the goons in front of them. And they could only hope they didn't have itchy trigger fingers…

Meanwhile…

Rainbow Dash had to break the window to get in but she appeared to be in the clear. She snuck around ninja style and hoped she would have more success than last time, it was dark but she could make everything out but then she realised she had no idea what a sniper looked like.

She saw a lot of barrels and sticks with weird devices strapped together and it all looked vaguely familiar to her. She spotted what she thought she was looking for as a long thing was pointed out a window and directly at the courthouse but there was also a window thing with a lot of grey and it appeared to be connected to a box.

She touched the long thing and then suddenly a face appeared on the box and it looked like some kind of weird clown, "Well look who it is… it's not who I expected at all in fact, you're a weird pony. Hah weird coming from me now that is funny!"

Dash didn't like this guy already and stepped back a few paces. she asked "How did you get in that?"

"Hah, you're not from around here are you… oh I know, do you like games? Cause if you come over to the steel mill we can play pin the tail on the donkey or pony in your case."

She got the threat but still didn't understand. She assumed he wasn't actually there and it must be like a portal. She touched it however and didn't go through so she figured it was one way on his side. Joker continued, "Oh I'm bored of you already, you just have to worry about the bombs, hurry up now, clocks ticking."

Suddenly numbers appeared on the screen counting down from 5. She knew what this was and she flew out as fast as she could and the then the explosion. The flames set a light her back feathers and she fell. Dash panicked and flapped as hard as she could and eventually the flames went out but she still fell.

The ground was coming closer so she tried to stay calm and self-righted, she spread her wings and she slowed down and found herself landing in a pile a snow. Dash had never loved winter more…

A Moment ago…

The middle goon with his gun still pointed it at the Doctor and Carnage and said "You know what? I'm gonna finish you both now, see you later…"

The explosion rang out above them and the moment they were distracted the Doctor pulled out his screwdriver and pushed the button, they attempted to fire in a panic but found their guns not firing. Carnage asked, "What did you do?"

"A trick I learned from the Sontarons, I expanded the bullets in their gun, now their jammed and useless."

Carnage then cracked his knuckles and a smile was on his face, "This is going to be fun…"

Moments later...

Dash walked in with a bruised ego and found three men laying on the ground while Carnage and the Doctor were helping people up. Some noticed her but didn't say anything as she walked up to Carnage talking to a man with a hook, "Oh there you are Skittles I was just about to find you, what happened?"

"Oh I dodged an explosion from a weird clown on a glass thing."

"That's my girl, and it's a TV Dash. So were going to the Steel Mill oh and by the way this is Aaron Cash."

Cash looked a bit bewildered but just smiled and nodded and said "Yo, what's up?"

Carnage spoke again, "Anyway Cash remember to give that letter to Batman when he gets here he'll want to see that."

"Will do Mr. Carnage, and thanks for your help, honestly I never thought I'd be saved by anyone besides Batman."

They shook with Cash's good hand and Dash asked "Where's the Doctor?"

"Oh he's over here Skittles, c'mon."

The Doctor was talking to ironically a female doctor who looked a bit shaken. She looked a bit familiar to Carnage. The Doctor looked back to see Carnage and said "You'll want to hear this."

He pointed to a man with bandages all over his face and he was tightly holding onto a box. The actual doctor explained, "This is a doctor, he transferred here but I think it was too much for him. We didn't realise he was losing it, he… we should have noticed."

Carnage stopped her, "Okay before you continue. Skittles could you wait outside please?"

"Why?"

"Just do this one thing for me."

After the fall Dash didn't have the energy to argue and left, the doctor continued, "He was stealing supplies… anaesthetics mostly. He used them when he… when he cut his own face off. I found him sitting in the corner laughing, his face was missing. I wrapped him up and sedated him, who knows what's in that case he's holding but we can't pry it off of him."

Carnage looked back at the bandaged man who looked strangely familiar to him and the Doctor. Carnage said "Thank you for telling us doctor...

"Jones, It's Dr. Jones but you can call me Martha."

it clicked for Carnage why the Doctor wanted to talk to her but he just left and Carnage followed. They noted that they would have to keep their eyes on the bandaged man.

10 minutes later…

Batman and the doctor arrived at the church. the doctor ran in to be reunited with his colleagues but Batman found it odd that three Joker goons were out cold at the entrance. He then heard a familiar voice from Aaron Cash, "Hey Batman, you missed the party, your friends saved us."

"Friends?"

"Yeah you know, Mr. Carnage and the other two, the one in the brown overcoat and the flying horse… you have some weird friends Bats, that's all I'm saying. Oh this is from Carnage."

Batman opened the note given to him.

To Batman

Yo, what up buddy?

Turns out you were right and it was Joker. Apparently he aint well and they have been kidnapping doctors.

Long story short were gonna stop them. Jokers base is at the Steel Mill so come on down and join us

Love Carnage, Doctor and Skittles

Batman had nothing to say apart from "I don't know if I hate him or respect him… either way it looks like I have no choice."

Carnage, the Doctor and Rainbow Dash arrange to meet Batman at the Steel Mill and Batman has made an important decision.

Chapter 5: If Rainbow Dash was Robin, Robin would be 20% cooler

"Captains log, I now find myself on a makeshift boat which really is just a couple of crates tied together that can somehow float. I must confess that things did not go to plan when we left the church. Me and my companions realised that we had no idea where the Steel mill was so I had to beat up a load goons until one of them told me. I think I got through about fifteen before one of them told us so everything seemed peachy, that was however until we found that there was a large stretch of water between us and our intended destination. So we fashioned this boat and after some convincing we decided not to call it Titanic 2 which was an awful movie by the way and we ended up calling her the Normandy. I don't know what it is but there's something really awesome about that name. Anyway in other good news I was able to do my steamboat Willy impression so this boat ride was definitely worth it. My friends appear well, the Doctor is currently giving me a funny look as I'm talking at my hand but I imagine he's thinking about his destroyed home world because he always is. He doesn't get over it until his next regeneration. My sexy Pegasus partner is also giving me the same look for the same reason, looking back now I think about the fact I've done a lot of different chicks, Goth, sporty, crazy and as for Dash's case the Tomboy, you know what's left? Brainy chick. Who's the one from Borderlands… oh that's right, Patricia Tannis, Damn she was fine. Seriously she was the socially awkward doctor with the sexy short black hair, best of all, she was a little crazy and I love crazy chicks. They always have that fire but are always a little vulnerable. I'd meet her and at first she wouldn't like me, but my natural charm would win her over and having lived on a planet for six hundred plus days with little to no human contact she would inevitably break down and profess her love for me and beg me to take her right there and then no matter where we were. She would totally be like 'oh please Marty I beg you, take me now' and then I'd totally do her with my massive twelve inch…"

Carnage's fantasy was interrupted by Dash, "What are you talking about?"

"Rainbow Dash! I was in the middle of my inner monologue about the awesome adventure were all having and the sexy doctor lady. Am I not allowed to like chicks with short hair? Is that it? Technically you also have short hair/mane compared to your friends."

The Doctor breathed a sigh and looked tremendously bored, "I could have just gone back and got the TARDIS but no, you wanted to create a boat and it turned out it was all so you could do a Steamboat Willy impression… by the way I will concede it was rather good, if only you had the hat… or the wheel."

"You see Skittles; at least someone appreciates my ability of impersonations. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to find Nemo."

Carnage brushed the water they were steadily bobbing on. While Dash could fly the others couldn't which meant she had to help them get across so she was stuck pushing the boat to the closest shore. Carnage spotted what looked like a figure standing on top of the fairest wheel. He waved at it but it did nothing back. The Steel Mill was just past the Carnival and a couple of buildings.

In the distance they could hear the voice of the joker talking over a speaker system, he didn't sound well. Not mentally well either but that would be expected.

As Carnage looked down he could see the unclean water below. As he touched it he could feel his body shiver at the cool touch. For some reason Carnage smiled, it was a reminder that this was all real. Despite the life threatening situation they were all in he thought it was some kind of dream but he would not tell the others.

It was quiet now and Carnage didn't like that. Silence unnerved him and made him feel insecure but it didn't seem to unfaze the other two so he didn't break it, it only dawned on him then the individual they were about to meet.

The Joker was one of the sickest and merciless characters in fiction. When you're young you can't really wrap your head around the sort of things the Joker did but just accepted that he was a good villain. When your older and put in the situation that Carnage was in now that's when it really clicks.

The murder of hundreds of innocent people, the mental destruction of Harley Quinn, the crippling of Barbra Gordon, the murder of Jason Todd and his mother and so much more and it was all done by the Joker. The only reason he never received the death penalty was because of his insanity. To turn a long story short Mr. Carnage now hated the Joker.

The shore was closer now and they would have to be on their guard, there could be anything in store for them when it came to the Joker but Dash likely didn't know that as to her he was a weird guy with face paint. Which didn't faze her much as she had already dated one. They could hear Jokers voice again and Carnage said "He doesn't sound well does he? Physically, not mentally but that to."

The Doctor responded, "Yes, well, Harley Quinn did mention that he wasn't feeling himself and I think they have been taking Doctors, it's probable he has some illness they can't cure."

"What do you think it is?"

"Can't say, maybe cancer or something else… I may be called the Doctor but that doesn't mean I'm a medical expert, although you probably knew that."

"Does it bother you? That I haven't told you."

"No, I think it adds a bit of mystery and a puzzle to be solved, plus it's like a little reward when I find out."

"Hang on, I swear I've seen you save lives with medicine and stuff."

"I dabble."

The two shared a small laugh, it was impossible to the both of them. Carnage was having a conversation with his childhood hero and the Doctor was talking to a man who knew pretty much everything about him. That was rarely the case for the Doctor, normally if he was meeting Shakespeare or Cleopatra or Winston he would know everything about them but they would have no clue to he was. It was interesting to be on the other foot. Rainbow Dash then suddenly called out, "Shore ahoy!"

The makeshift boat crashed into land and the two men in the boat fell out from the impact. Dash struck a victorious pose as she was proud of her hard work. Carnage and the Doctor were in an awkward bundle and Carnage pushed the Doctor off of him, the Doctor fell on the ground and he found a boot beside him. The boot in question was oddly familiar to him. It was black and armoured and as the Doctor looked up the leg he could see a yellow belt that belonged to the Dark Knight. Batman looked down with his familiar frown, "I've seen you in worse positions Doctor."

Carnage jumped up with a smile, "Ah hello there Brucey-boy, I see you beat us here like I thought you would, bet you couldn't beat Skittles in a one on one race though."

Dash struck another pose and Batman kept his frown. Batman slowly walked up to Carnage who was standing in the makeshift boat, Dash's smile started to fade the closer Batman got and Carnage for the first time in a while felt nervous, "I have this feeling you're not going to give me a hug."

"What gave you that impression?"

Batman was right in Carnages face. The Dark Knight looked directly into Carnages electric blue eyes and just stared him out. Dash appeared on Carnages shoulder and stared at Batman back. Batman spoke, "You defied me."

Carnage retorted "Well we certainly don't work for you, and I took what you said as more of a suggestion."

There was a short silence and the Doctor walked up behind Batman and put his hand on Batman's shoulder, "We didn't mean it like that. But we had to make sure if it was the Joker, it was and their held up here."

"I know I got Carnage's note, I figured he would be in the Steel Mill… you three saved a lot of people."

A tiny smile reached Carnage's lips, he had a good feeling about where this was going. Batman continued, "You see I realise now that I can't stop you three tonight so against my better judgement I will accept your help but only to make sure you don't get yourselves killed."

Batman extended a hand and Carnage shook it with glee. Dash flew up a little striking yet another pose and spoke, "So what do we do now?"

Batman said "First off if we're going to work together we have to stay in contact. So I want all of you take one of these."

They gathered round as Batman took out three ear pieces from his utility belt, they all grabbed one and placed them on their ears. Dash had no idea what it was and just did what Carnage did. Batman spoke, "Press the top button to talk to any of us, the bottom button is to contact the Batcave. Alfred did you get that?"

They could all suddenly hear the voice of the British butler, "Yes sir, as per your orders I will answer any questions that your three friends have."

Carnage used the earpiece to speak making sure Rainbow saw how it worked, "Wow! You're Alfred Pennyworth aren't you?"

"Yes I am sir."

"Guys! We now have the most awesome butler in the multiverse on our side. How can we fail?"

Batman started to walk in the direction towards the Steel mill, "Come, we shouldn't waste any more time. We have to find out exactly what the Joker is up to and if he's working with Strange."

There was something very unsettling for the group as they walked towards the Steel mill. It wasn't the Joker signs, the Jokers voice booming over the intercoms or the helicopters flying above them. The thing that was unsettling was the fact they had come up against virtually no resistance, not a single goon in their way. Dash voiced this, "Where is everypony? I mean didn't you guys say that this was Joker central? Wouldn't all of his goons be around here?"

Batman replied, "first off its 'everybody' and secondly your right. So that would mean that their all…"

The all stopped as they saw the gate of the Steel Mill which they were still a distance away from. There were two armed guards on top of the gate and they could see quite a number behind it, they all crouched down so the goons couldn't see them and the Doctor said "Yep he is definitely in there, the question is how do we get in?"

There were two giant nutcracker toys either side of the gate and the Steel mill itself was a very large building. There was large amounts of smoke coming out of the chimneys indicating that the place was still active and running. Batman spoke, "I'm not sure how Joker got those guns but I'm willing to bet that Strange gave them to him."

Dash questioned "Why would he do that? Isn't he like running a prison? Who would give the inmates guns?"

Carnage said "That's a good point Skittles, but we don't know anything for certain yet so let's not jump to conclusions."

Batman put his finger to his ear, "Alfred, we have to find a way to get into the Sionis Steel Mill."

Alfred replied. They could all hear the conversation, "Have you tried the front door sir?"

Batman replied sarcastically, "Why didn't I think of that?"

"It was obviously too easy. Let's see… if all other access routes are locked down, the only way in would be… no… its suicide."

"The main chimney? OK then."

The other three looked at each other. They all looked at the Chimney in question and saw that it would be impossible for either Carnage or the Doctor to follow. The Doctor said "Looks like this is where us three get off for now."

Dash spoke, "Wait! I can go can't I? I can fly straight down."

Mr. Carnage spoke "No! I'm not letting you go down there alone. You have no idea what you're dealing with do you?"

"I won't be alone because I'll be with Batman."

"That's not the point, you can't let her go."

Batman looked at him and a smirk came to his lips. "I thought you wanted me to let you all help, I suppose she could be of some assistance."

"Hey! You aint gonna make her your new Robin, I know what happened to Jason Todd. If she dies in there I swear I'm going shove my arm down your throat and tear out your intestines."

There was a small silence and Dash flew up the air and blew him a raspberry, "I'll see you up there Batman."

She zoomed up and Batman followed her. Carnage yelled at them, "Get back here young lady! Or I'm gonna ground your perfect ass permantly!"

They didn't listen and flew off anyway. The Doctor walked up to Carnage and asked a question, "So how long were you two together?"

"I WAS A PONY ALRIGHT! DON'T FUCKING JUDGE ME!"

Dash and Batman found themselves descending down the chimney. Dash saw what looked like lava below here and could feel a familiar heat on her wings but despite this carried on down. To Batman it was like descending into hell. There was red everywhere and the man in this building who was the devil himself, "Get ready!"

The momentum they were falling grew and they had to focus on a safe way to land. Dash was preparing to stop in mid-air while Batman landed on a wire hanging over the molten fire. The pair looked around and Batman followed the wire to the safest platform and Dash followed suit.

Nothing was said between the pair as they walked around avoiding any obstacles. Dash and Batman started to make their way when Rainbow Dash asked a question, "Hey can I ask you a question? Can I call you Bats?"

"Excuse me?"

"Well Carnage has a nickname for me and all but I can't think of one for him that doesn't sound to soppy. I just thought of one for you so can I call you that?"

She didn't seem to know that another person in Batman's life called him that regularly. He didn't like it but he didn't think any harm could be done and she did ask him so he surprised himself when he said "Fine, just you though."

This made Dash light up, "Thanks Bats I won't let you down, since Carnage looks up to you so much and all."

"He does doesn't he. Can you tell me how he knows so much about me?"

"Sorry I'm not allowed but whose Robin? Carnage mentioned that name and it's stuck in my head."

"It has belonged to a number of people. Their apprentices of mine who fight along my side."

"Why do you do this though?"

"I'd rather not talk about it."

"Oh c'mon you gotta tell me…"

Batman suddenly shot the bat claw at a circular door, this made Dash jump and Batman pulled the door open so all the water poured onto the hot steel which would have burned Dash's feet. She looked up at him and muttered "Thanks."

He didn't respond and instead kept walking, only now did it really hit him what Dash was. She must have been some sort of Pegasus but where she came from was beyond him but he guessed that like Carnage she was from another universe as he claimed. She might be a pony but he couldn't be sure of that either, but now he realised that because of her Cyan coat and her vibrant rainbow mane she would stick out like a sore thumb. She would have to stay behind him, "When we get up there I want you stay behind me. You'll stick out and they'll have guns from this point on."

The entire room rumbled slightly beneath them as more metal was poured down into the furnace. The heat in the room was intense and Dash was having trouble breathing. She hoped to Celestia that she would be able to leave soon as the sweat started soaking her coat. She looked up at the Dark Knight who still looked as cool and calm as ever. She wondered how he did it. Batman looked behind to see Dash struggling and said "Keep going were almost out."

After another leap Dash felt a little cooler as they were far away enough from the furnace. She breathed a sigh of relief and shook herself like a dog to try and get some of the sweat off her coat. She muttered "I bet I'm the worst Robin ever."

Rainbow Dash then looked up to see Batman spraying the ground, he made some sort of Bat symbol and then held the spraying device pushing on a button. Dash was confused, "Uh Bats, what are you…"

A tiny explosion then occurred and the floor gave way. Batman landed on his feet while Dash landed in a heap on the floor, she looked up in a daze to see him not waiting up and crouching under a pipe. This annoyed her and she flew in pursuit, when she caught up he had thrown a batarang at a button which stopped a load of steam that was blocking the way into the ventilation system. She called out in an angry tone, "Hey what was the deal with leaving me back there?"

"You said you could handle yourself, c'mon we don't have much time."

He shot up into the air duct and Dash followed. The pair started crawling through. There wasn't a lot of space but it was easier for Dash as she was smaller, for once she was grateful for this. They could hear people talking above them. "Yeah, Joker wants you to think he's sick. Then, wham! Gotcha."

"I don't know, he's looks pretty sick."

"You mean worse than usual?"

As they went further in they could hear more and more voices muttering to themselves. It was quite loud which told the pair that there were a lot of people above them. Then they could hear another voice above them. This voice was familiar to Batman and his only response was to whisper her name, "Quinn."

"I promised you boys some entertainment, right?"

They got up to a grate which they could see through, there were a lot of Joker goons and they were trying to see what was going on. They could then hear another voice of a woman pleading, "Please, I did my best."

Quinn had a simple response, "Well, you should have tried harder."

They could see Harley was standing above the goons with someone who looked like they were in a chair but they couldn't make out who it was. Then Quinn kicked the woman from the ledge and she fell to the ground, she screamed the whole way but seemed to suffer only minor injuries as she got back up. Dash wore a worried look and Batman wore an angry look. Dash wanted to do something but there were way to many people up there. Harley spoke again, "That useless quack has failed Mister J. and you know what that means."

Suddenly the crowd started chanting, "KILL! KILL! KILL! KILL!"

A sense of panic and dread washed over Dash. She desperately wanted to fly up but Batman held her down to stop her squirming. Harley continued "Oh, I think we can do better than that. Get in here, Mister Hammer!"

The crowd cheered as a strange knocking sound could be heard. Then a voice called for Harley that was all too familiar, "Harley!"

"Coming Mister J."

She went inside. Batman let go of Dash and they made their way around trying to find a way up Dash tried her best to keep calm while Batman tried to find the best way up. The crowd started a new chant, "HAMMER! HAMMER! HAMMER! HAMMER!"

They moved as fast as they could, dodging flames coming out of loose pipes and narrow pathways. They could then see another grate and the woman crawling backwards trying to escape something. She called out to anyone who would listen, "Help me!"

But she knew no one could. Dash's eyes opened wide as she saw the one armed figure with clown makeup and a green wig about to deliver the final blow. She nearly called out when suddenly another voiced stopped this Mister Hammer. The voice belonged to Quinn, "Stop! Change of plan. Take her to the smelting chamber. Mister J wants her to suffer a little longer!"

There was a disappointed groan from the ground but no one made any form of protest. One Joker goon dragged her away and a load started to disperse, only a few were left. Harley made one final order "You know what you have got to do! Go get the snowman and bring him back here right NOW! He's going to pay for screwing over Mister J"

Dash turned to Batman, "What snowman? There are walking snowmen in your world? I'm guessing their the human version of snowponies."

"I think she's referring to Mr. Freeze. But how is he involved, how did he screw the Joker."

They made their way to a grate above them and could see that this was the way out. Batman turned to Dash, "Okay, stay down. I know your anxious but don't panic. We'll save her, I promise. We just have to get the jump on…"

Suddenly a voice was heard above, "Hey! What's this rainbow? Some of the colours look like skittles…"

Another voice could be heard, "DUDE YOU FOUND SKITTLES! HOLY SHIT I LOVE SKITTLES! TELL ME THEIR THE SOUR ONES!"

Next chapter, what does Rainbow Dash taste of?

[Incoming transmission from ???]

This is [Data corrupted] making my first report since arriving at the base.

After a large amount of effort we have finally been able to retrieve [Data corrupted] after what appeared to be a series of bad luck we were able to retrieve the package from an unlikely source to say the least.

I have been named the new leader of the project after the last project managers lack of faith in the project, admittedly I'm not 100% sure this is doable but [Data corrupted] and I promised [Data corrupted] that I would do this so it will be done.

The comment that Mr. [Data corrupted] hasn't filled many with confidence but we'll just have to move through any obstacles that we come across, luckily we have unlimited resources as [Data corrupted] really believes in this plan, personally I don't think we need her but I won't question orders, I have already placed the beginning requirements and they are [Data corrupted].

There is also an interesting development, an interesting energy source has been discovered on board the ship, the funny thing is that it appears unreadable so it's nothing ever seen before but that isn't the only thing.

According to a number of scientists on board, the energy source is [Data corrupted] and it doesn't actually exist yet, the source hasn't fully materialised as of yet and nobody so far has been able to say much more about it except that it has an energy level of over 9000 and [Data corrupted] so I have also requested more scientists from off the ship to take a look. The energy source is materialising in the same room as the subject but I do not feel any need to move [Data corrupted] but I will be taking precautions despite being told there are no connection between either.

Another weird thing is whenever is say over 9000 to any of the scientists they always laugh, I believe it may be an old reference so I will look that up later.

Last thing to note is that the [Data corrupted] of my [Data corrupted] has been successful so that is a weight off my mind, I can now fully commit to the project without any distractions, as long as the [Data corrupted] has faith then I shall as well, I'll do anything the man tells me to do to the top of my ability.

This is [Data corrupted] signing off.

A letter from a father to his son

To Marty Wright

Hello son, its me your Dad. Honestly I don't know how to even start this letter but one of the nurses suggested that I just write whatever comes to me so here I go.

I don't know why you disappeared, I know a lot of shit has happened between all of us including you and me and if i could back what I said about your mother I would but what's done is done and sadly it destroyed a lot of what we had and honestly from what I heard you were never the same.

A lot of your colleagues said you were a lot quieter and a lot more cold towards people, they said they couldn't remember the last time that you smiled. I hope you found that smile again. I remember when you were young and you'd spend your money on face paint and masks and play wrestle with your siblings, you kept telling everyone that you were a luchador and that you could take them all on. You were always a strange little boy but you were my little boy.

Speaking of your siblings I feel its best you get an update on them as well. Your sister is still trying to get in to music but the furthest she's gotten so far is a backstage role, and yes she is still blaming you for some reason god knows why. Your other sister Melissa is actually doing better, she isn't biting people any more which is an improvement but your brother was denied parole again, I visited him once and the scary thing is, I don't think he's at all sorry about the man he killed.

A lot of people said you died a hero and that it was a good way to go but I don't want a hero, I want my son, in fact I don't accept that your even dead. That's really why I'm writing this letter to you, one day I'm hoping you'll pop up some where with no memory or on some secret case and I'll send this letter off immediately and I need you to hear this, I love you son, I never told you that enough when you were younger.

I realise now that you must have had the world on your shoulders, you must have felt that you had to succeed in order to lift our family curse but son I just want you to settle down with a nice girl and enjoy life, hell I wouldn't care about her race or anything like that unlike your mother. I know you still probably hate me but please find it in your heart to forgive, have you lost the will to carry on? Then I'll help you get it back. Have you met a girl you think I wont like? Son if she's good enough for you then she's good enough for me, hell I don't care if she has some kind of hippy name like Rainbow I just want to know your alright, can you do that for your old man?

I going to finish this letter now, I'll need my medication in a minute and then I wont be able to write this, I just want you to know that I love you and I'll always love you no matter what happens down the road.

Lots of love from your father, Paul Wright

P.S. I you do come by I have some of your favourite sweets, Skittles, so we can share some like we used to do.

Paul Wright finished the letter and carefully placed it in an envelope, he wrote on the front and placed it on the desk beside his bed and drifted off to sleep. As he slept the letter started to spark and fizz with tiny electric sparks coming off of it, the proud father didn't see the letter disappear as a final mini lightning bolt went through the roof of the building and landed on top of the letter. The noise awoke him but when he looked at the roof there was no structural damage what so ever and the letter was gone.

Carnage paced angrily back and forth, the Doctor was looking for another way into the Steel Mill and Carnage was left there bitterly angry at Dash and Batman, he muttered under his breath, "If anything happens to Dash then I'm going to hold him personally responsible..."
Carnage suddenly felt a burning sensation on his chest like something had just landed, he cringed in pain but felt his inside vest pocket had gotten a little heavier, he reached inside and pulled out an envelope.
As he looked upon it Carnage's eyes started to well up as he recognised the hand writing on the envelope, the front simply read "from Dad."

Chapter 6: Memories better left buried

Please leave a like and follow if you like this story, it motivates me to write more. Now I know there has been a bit of a dip on updates and I'm sorry, if there are any mistakes in this chapter please tell me.

Carnage has received an impossible letter while Batman and RD maybe in trouble.

Chapter 6: Memories better left buried

"Oh my god what is it with you and Skittles, I just said whatever the colours were looked like Skittles."

"Wait! Are you telling me that… there are no Skittles?"

"No shit genius."

Another goon approached, "Wait who has Skittles?"

A fourth goon overheard, "Oh can I have some Skittles?"

"What? No you can't have any Skittles because there aren't any skittles! God Damn were supposed to be looking out for Batman! Now Garry stop with all this…"

He turned to his friend but found him now lying on the floor. He was clearly out cold and the goon started to panic. "Oh crap, I think it's Batman. Shit, what are we gonna do guys?"

He turned to the other two men that were previously talking to him but they too were now unconscious. The now lone goon was panicking, he tried not to show it but it was obvious to anyone with eyes that he was terrified.

"W-w-what's wrong? You to c-chicken to fight me?"

He grabbed a lead pipe close to him and held it in a threatening manner so he was ready to strike at any second. He called out to a group of other goons that were now making their way into the courtyard, "Hey all of you! Batman's here!"

They five of them made their way to the lone goon and one asked. "The hell? He took out all these guys?"

"Yeah, he's still here I think I'm just not sure where. If we all stick together then we got him, I'm sure of it."

Another goon agreed, "Yeah, I bet he's just lucky and overblown, I bet we've got him if… wait what if he's in the grates."

They all froze, and looked over the closest row, it all connected around them, it was the perfect way for Batman to hide and pick them off one by one, one goon looked at the largest one.

"Well go on then, check the grates dummy."

He nodded silently, he figured since he was the only one with a gun that it made sense.

He slowly inched towards with his gun firmly pointed at the row of grates. He eventually got there and he looked closely at them, at first he couldn't see anything but then he was certain he could see black fabric.

He was about to warn everyone when suddenly a voice called out to them from behind, "Hey losers, you're about to get face hoofed by the most awesome Pegasus in all of Equestria."

The six confused goons turned around to see a cyan pony with her chest out. She had a proud smile but none of the guards knew what to do or what they were even looking at, one guard finally found the right words, "What the fuck is that…"

Suddenly the goon with the gun that was closest to the grate heard one panel open, Batman popped out and before he could react Batman grabbed his head from behind, pulled him into a reverse headlock and performed a reverse DDT.

The goons heard the commotion and turned around again to see the Batman standing over their fellow colleague, "Oh crap it really was Batman."

Suddenly another goon had two hooves hit him in the back of the head at light speed and he knocked his head into the ground knocking him out. Dash pounded on his head a bit more to make sure but no goon help their fallen friend as they had to deal with the Dark Knight.

The four goons were now taking a beating from Batman. Batman simply took one down by simply laying a load of strikes to the head and finishing up with an elbow.

Batman then jumped up and used his gel by quickly applying some beside two goons, they tried to punch the bat but he jumped out the way and detonated it, the force of the explosion made the goons fly into the air and fall unconscious.

The last goon was the original goon and in desperation he picked up a large box, "Take this Dark Knight."

He threw it at Batman however Batman caught it in mid-air and spun around, he let go of the box and it crashed straight into the goon. The now dazed goon attempted to get up but saw the backside of the pony in front of him, "Oh fu…"

And with that, Rainbow Dash bucked his face causing the last goon to get knocked unconscious, she stood proudly over her victim and struck a victorious pose. "That's right, we're awesome."

Batman looked over the battlefield to make sure everyone had been taken care of. He was satisfied with his search and now he had to make sure his partner was okay. "Are you alright? They didn't hurt you did they?"

"Nah, they didn't even touch me, cause I'm too fast."

A small grin reach the Dark knight's lips but it was taken away by the voice of an hysterical Harley Quinn above them. She appeared through a door above them and the door was located inside the mouth of a Joker face. "What the hell are you doing here? You're supposed to be dead!"

Dash realised she was referring to the clock trap and she slightly nursed her burned wings, Harley noticed the blue pony. "What the heck is that? Oh wait you're probably with Mr. C… I mean Carnage."

Dash picked up on the way she said Mr. C, "Hey, why are you calling him Mr. C, back off you! I'm so going to buck your face in."

Harley brushed her off. "Well there's no way either of you are getting to Mister J. Were safe and sound up here. You both can just stay down there and burn!"

Harley walked back inside and Dash took off trying to get at her but the doors shut in her face. She tried to buck through but she could not get passed the metal doors. She grunted in annoyance and flew back down to Batman. "Well what do we do now? Oh wait a second, what about the lady?"

Batman remembered where they had taken her and their best bet would be to follow the path back to her. In his mind he couldn't leave her, and Dash seemed to agree, Batman decided to give an update to his partners. He reached up to his earpiece and Dash did the same. "Everyone, were attempting to get to the Joker and Harley Quinn who are locked up, what is your status?"

The Doctor's voice came through. "Still trying to find a safe way in I'm afraid, can't seem to find a good opening."

Dash spoke. "What about Carnage?"

Carnage's voice could be heard but it was very quiet, "Oh… yeah hey Dash, sorry I'm just hanging back at the entrance in case anyone needs me is all."

"How do you know Harley Quinn?"

There was a short silence before a response. "Oh… um… we met back at the church, why?"

"She called you Mr. C."

Another short silence, "It's nothing Dash, don't you two have more important things to do?"

Batman agreed. "Yes, some of Joker's goons dragged a doctor away. We're going to find her first, then deal with the Joker."

The Doctor responded. "Roger that… I've always wanted to say that."

Batman turned to his Rainbow partner and said. "We can't waste any time so let's go."

A few moments ago…

Mr. Carnage looked at the letter he was holding with rage and bitterness and a little remorse. The one thing he was telling himself was that he had to be some kind of sick joke to have this letter in front of him. The only one here who knew about his father was Rainbow Dash but he had hardly said anything about him to her and only skimmed their relationship, but she knew it wasn't good. He knew she had a tendency to play pranks but to him this was sick. "That bitch! Would she really do this to me? No of course she wouldn't, this trace looks familiar though…"

He examined the letter and a few sparks were somehow coming off of it. The other thing that made him believe that the letter was real was that it was definitely his father's hand writing. The thought came to him that he should just rip the letter up and let it fall into the water near him but something in his subconscious was preventing him from doing so.

Salty tears were returning to his eyes and they started to trickle down his face. He swung wildly at the ground and punched as hard as he could letting the letter drop beside him. Vivid memories were returning to him with a mixture of pleasant ones and dreaded ones and all he wanted to do was punch someone's face in. His normally pleasant visage was melting away and he was desperately trying to cling on to it.

Suddenly he could hear the voice of Batman through his earpiece. "Everyone, were attempting to get to the Joker and Harley Quinn who are locked up, what is your status?"

Carnage stopped himself and did his best to compose himself. He sniffled and held back any further tears that were coming from his eyes and tried his best to return to his new persona but couldn't find his grip on it. The Doctor's voice then went through the com piece. "Still trying to find a safe way in I'm afraid, can't seem to find a good opening."

He remembered that he let the Doctor go ahead and kicked himself for not going with him in case he got in to trouble, then he heard a familiar mare's voice. "What about Carnage?"

He couldn't let her worry, Dash right now was the last thing he had in his life and he couldn't allow her to be scared or cry like he had seen before. Whenever that happened it felt like his soul was being torn in two. He swallowed the flem that had built up and spoke very quietly. "Oh… yeah hey Dash, sorry I'm just hanging back at the entrance in case anyone needs me is all."

In truth he didn't really know why he stayed back, that was never really him to stay on the side lines but somehow he ended up here. He tried to focus more but then he was blindsided by a question from the rainbow haired Pegasus. "How do you know Harley Quinn?"

Carnage froze. He cursed himself for his silly flirting with Harley, she didn't mean anything and he had to keep Dash focused so after a short pause he simply said. "Oh… um… we met back at the church, why?"

She responded with a flat and angry tone. "She called you Mr. C."

Carnage cursed himself again, he didn't need this right now and just wanted the conversation to end so he tried to change the subject. "It's nothing Dash. Don't you two have more important things to do?"

Lucky for Carnage, Batman appeared to agree but he noted the slight suspicion in his tone, "Yes, some of Joker's goons dragged a doctor away. We're going to find her first, then deal with the Joker."

The Doctor made his final comment. "Roger that… I've always wanted to say that."

Carnage then breathed a sigh of relief, he was thankful that it was over. He normally would have laughed at that kind of joke from the Doctor and he realised how much the letter was now bothering him, he picked it up from the ground and stared at it again. The idea of actually opening it was a fleeting one as he was again consumed by rage, he again muttered. "I should just destroy you… set you ablaze right here… I don't know if this is Luna playing another joke on me or… no this has to be real… I don't know how but…"

The Doctor's voice then suddenly rang out to him. "Carnage are you alright? Who are you talking to?"

He realised that he left his com piece and the Doctor had heard him "I'm fine Doctor, I'm just great."

"Are you sure?"

Carnage looked at the envelope one last time and entertained the idea of actually telling the Doctor but in the end he put the letter back in his jacket pocket. He decided if he was going to read it he would do it later. He looked around and thought that he just needed to get out of here. "Listen Doctor I think I'm going to go back to the church, I going to make sure that everyone there is alright, I'll see you all later, can you tell them about this?"

"Sure, I think I've found an entryway so I'll tell them when I find them."

Carnage then proceeded to walk away with his head swimming in nostalgia…

Batman and Rainbow Dash had a new priority, save the doctor. She had been dragged off by Joker goons and the pair we're now hot on their trail. Along the way they had passed lockers, a broken down elevator and other such things that told them this place may have been operational but no way near a hundred percent condition. They had also come across a group of men with firearms but Batman had snuck up on them and had taken them out with ease.

Dash was slightly uneasy, there was something about the atmosphere around them that didn't make her feel right but she was determined to save the doctor but as they walked through the door to the smelting chamber they could see two goons with their backs to them. And they were armed.

Both Batman and Dash ducked out of their sight. This was the place they were supposed to take the doctor. They were on a steel railing and couldn't see her from their position. Batman didn't waste any time and made his way to knock the pair out but Dash accidentally kicked a spanner lying on the ground and it made a loud, echoing metallic sound.

The sound alerted the two guards and it gave one enough time to make a large enough sound to alert the others in the room. Batman immediately knocked the pair's heads together forcing the unconscious but it was too late. Batman shot up and Dash followed as they could hear the screams of the doctor "Help me! Someone!"

They were on one of the pedestals hanging above the ground, they saw that the doctor was now in a separate small room with one of the goons, he said that she was his ticket out of here and this made Rainbow Dash mad. Dash was now seeing red as the four other goons left in the room found the scene of their fallen comrades. Dash flew off saying "Screw it, I'm gonna save her."

It was too late for Batman to stop her so he focused on the men dispersing below. Luckily one was nervously strolling right below him so without any wasted movement Batman hooked his line wire on the platform, fell, and grabbed the goon below. He pulled him up and held him by his throat for a moment and then let him drop, the goon's foot was attached to the wire and he was left dangling off the floor. However the shock and the blood rushing to his head caused him to pass out.

The noise once again alerted the other three men and while Dash made her way towards the one with the hostage, Batman placed some of his explosive gel underneath the dangling man. He shot up to another platform and waited for the two men to walk near it and then Batman pressed the detonator. The force of the explosion sent the two goons flying backwards and landing in an unconscious heap.

Meanwhile Dash had gotten into position, she launched herself from where she was hovering and smashed through the glass, there her head collided with the goons and he went flying back. Luckily for Dash her years of crashing had toughened her up so all it took after shaking the cobwebs out of her head was to buck the goon in the face and it was over.

Dash didn't waste any time in trying to bite through the rope that kept the now very confused doctor in place, but suddenly Batman appeared and drew a Batarang from his utility belt. He carefully cut her free and spoke in a soft tone that Dash was surprised to hear "Can you stand?"

She nursed her hands slightly, trying to shake of the pain the binds previously had on her hands but the mental scarring of the torture she had endured would take longer. "Give me a second. What is wrong with these people? That crazy woman thinks I can fix the Joker. And I don't mean to sound rude at all but what is that."

She pointed at her pony saviour who proudly said, "I'm Rainbow Dash!"

Batman quickly took the conversation back but kept his soft tone, "What's wrong with him?"

"There's something in his blood, some kind of toxin, it's killing him. He blames something called Titan."

Both Batman and Rainbow Dash spoke at once "TITAN!?"

Dash looked up at Batman, "Hey Bats, what's TITAN?"

Suddenly the Harley statue behind them started animating. It was a figure of Harley in her old costume but in with an enlarged head. Harley's voice emitted from it, "Uh uh Doc! Isn't that information supposed to be confidential?"

Suddenly the three of them could hear a sparkling sound coming from the door, the goons were sealing them in and Harley spoke again. "Lock them up nice and tight boys, we don't want the vermin escaping."

The doctor apparently found the positive side to this, "At least they won't be getting in right?"

Batman turned to the medical equipment behind him and said "Wait here doctor. I need to get out of here. Someone needs to stop the Joker."

Dash stood beside him. "Hey, we're going to top him."

Batman didn't reply as he reached inside the dangerous device, the female doctor was confused. "What the hell are you doing?"

He pulled out a long electrical device from the machine, he then took out another device from his utility device and connected the two together. After a little bit of tinkering the long device now resembled a gun. Batman then headed out of the small room with Dash in tow, he told the female doctor "Stay here, you'll be safe."

She questioned "You sure?"

"If you hear anyone coming, hide. I'll be back."

Batman didn't waste any time, the pair couldn't go through the way they came in so they went through the door on their far left. They zoomed across the room but found the doors were shut by a metal door in the way of the real one, it was connected to some kind of electrical device above them. Dash showed her frustration "Buck! Were stuck again."

Batman took the gun like device and shot an electric spark at the device above the door. Suddenly the door shot up and the real door was there before them. Out of fear the door would close again they both hurried through.

They found the only way out was another ventilation shaft so they hurried through. As they did they could hear the voices of several goons beyond. "And what? We just wait for the Bat to break through the door, and then we jump him?"

"That's the plan."

"It's not a plan, it's a suicide note."

When they reached the end they found the voices were the goons keeping the door shut from earlier. Batman told Dash to stay put and this time she did as she was told. As she could hear the sounds of screams, bones cracking, the overused line of 'it's the Bat' she thought about Carnage for a moment. Is he really over me already? He was definitely flirting with that Harley girl. I guess he never did care for me in that way as much as he does as a friend.

The noises stopped so she took this as a sign that she could get down now. Batman led her the way they had come before and eventually they came to where the Joker was hiding before. Dash looked annoyed. "Why did we come back here? We still can't get to him."

Batman retorted "Actually thanks to this, we can."

He pulled out the electric gun and he fired it repeatedly at a generator. Dash looked above and saw the end of a crane starting to move back and forth, back and forth it went until eventually it collided with the door to the Joker's office and broke it down. Dash jumped for joy but Batman kept his stern expression "Stay here Dash for the moment, I'll check it out."

They could hear the voice of Harley Quinn. "What's wrong with you B-man? You come into Mister J's home and start smashing it to pieces; don't you know he's sick?"

Batman shot up to the entrance way but as he climbed up a foot met his face and he fell back down. Rainbow Dash rushed to his aid as fast as she could and shook him in an attempt to get him fortunately it worked and they saw the assailant jump down after him.

It was the large one armed man with the clown makeup from before and he was still carrying the same hammer. Harley stood at the edge of the entrance and said "Surprise B-man, this is Mister Hammer, he's going to teach you some manners!"

Suddenly the pair were surrounded by goons and Mister Hammer seemed focused on the Pegasus. Dash found herself genuinely afraid as the large man made his way towards her but Batman was now being cut off by the other eight goons. She was on her own.

She backed away slowly as she could see goons flying in different direction s behind Mister Hammer. She decided her best bet was to fly up and away from him but as she did this Mister Hammer swung his hammer and it just clipped the edge of dash's wing. A mixture of surprise and panic caused her to fall but she wasn't in any real pain, the large man spoke, "I will bury you tiny creature."

He swung his hammer straight down at her while she was in her prone position but she narrowly managed to dodge the attack. She wildly bucked at him and managed to clip his face but it didn't seem to have any effect on him. One of the goons tried to grab Dash in order to hold her still but she grabbed onto his arm and flew under his legs which caused him to flip over himself.

When Mister Hammer swung again he accidently hit the fallen goon effectively killing him, this turned Dash white as a ghost but it didn't seem to faze Mister Hammer in the slightest as he kept going toward Dash who was now trapped in a corner and was too afraid to fly upwards.

He lifted his hammer to strike but found Batman cape in his face which stunned him. Dash saw that she was still alive and noticed that all the other goons had been taken out. The now dazed Mister Hammer was being served shots left and right to his cranium but he shook them off and swatted Batman away. Dash found her courage and flew as fast as she could and bucked Mister Hammer in the back of the head. Batman then pulled out his electrical gun and shot it at Mister Hammer which caused him to swing wildly and when he turned his back Batman jumped on top of him and smashed his head into the ground knocking him out cold.

Before Dash had a chance to celebrate their victory they could suddenly hear a loud no coming from Harley in Joker's office. They shot up into the room as he could hear loud sobbing and they could also hear a loud continuous beep tone that was coming from a monitor next to the Joker who was sitting limp in a chair. Harley was desperately shaking him, "Why, why, why, why, why?!"

It appeared that the Joker was dead, Dash didn't know what to say, she didn't like this guy but she didn't want him dead but all Batman could do was stare at the scene before him. Batman then started walking towards the deceased Joker while Dash stayed back, Harley looked enraged, "YOU!"

"Get out of my way Quinn."

He had to see this, this was too good to be true that his mortal enemy was finally gone from this world, Harley would have none of it, "Leave us alone B-man… just leave me with him."

Batman had to know and Quinn would not stop him, he threw her out of the way which surprised Dash as he said, "I SAID MOVE!"

Dash suddenly felt something covering her mouth, her eyes opened in horror as gas filled her nose and suddenly she found herself unconscious. Batman wasn't paying attention however as he was looking over the body with his detective vision. To his surprise all vital signs were off, no heartbeat, no pulse, no nothing. The Joker was dead. Harley screamed hysterically at him "This is all your fault! You've hounded him for years, beat him to a pulp, and for what?" Why are you so mean?!"

Batman didn't know what to feel, it was over. Gotham's greatest nightmare was finally at an end but then he felt an oxygen mask cover his face with gas seeping through it, he violently tried to swing whoever was on his back off but he could hear a disturbingly familiar voice yell "Surprise!"

He managed to shake them off but then Batman started to feel very weak like he was slipping, he tried to focus but just couldn't. He couldn't even stand fully up and he could now recognise the voice did indeed belong to the Joker. "You fell for the old fake Joker gag Batman!"

That laugh was to distinct to belong to anyone else, he looked up to see Harley Quinn standing before him with a bat in her hand and she took one mighty swing to his head, he heard her say 'Batter up' and then he felt a second shot. He was almost completely out. He desperately looked for Dash who was lying on the floor unconscious and then the third and final strike hit and all he could see was black.

You Decide the Future!

Your probably wondering what this is all about. Well you can help decide the future of this series. Now the following poll wont effect the next world Carnage and co. go to in the future because that has been decided.
However this will heavily effect the order that he and his friennds go to and it will effect the companions that Mr. Carnage will pick up along the way.

There is only one rule:
Pick 5 worlds you would most like to see. There is no order but you must pick 5 at most, no more!
Again this may not seem so significant but this will heavily effect the future of the series so i would like everyone following this story to cast their vote, thank you.

[Warning!!!] Please refrain from voting for mlp return as that will be something eventually done at a later point, all votes for that will be discounted.

Chapter 7: Riddle me this

Please leave a like and follow if you like this story, it motivates me to write more. I'm getting an order sorted but it's clear what will be the fourth story. the third however... well that will be a little surprise.

Batman and RD have been taken by the Joker and Mr. Carnage is on his way to the church.

Chapter 7: Riddle me this Carnage

The walk had been a quick one for Carnage. A bit too quick for him as he was in no rush but alas it appeared fate was toying with him today so it appeared he would have to leave his self-pity to focus on swimming back with the makeshift boat.

As he walked towards the boat he found himself singing a familiar song under his breath. It was one both Carnage and his father enjoyed.

When you're strange,

Faces come out of the rain,

When you're strange,

No one remembers your name,

When you're strange,

When you're strange,

When you…

"Oh I love that song… whoops."

Someone else's voice had interrupted Carnage. The voice was very distinct and recognisable but he couldn't see Harley Quinn. However he did see a weird looking Harley Quinn statue by him. The voice did come from the direction of the statue so Carnage figured that they must be connected.

He looked over the device quickly. It was about his size, it had an enlarged head and then Carnage spotted what appeared to be a speaking device. He decided to have a go at talking to it, "Um… hello?"

The voice of Harley Quinn replied, "Hey."

There was an awkward silence between the two for a moment. Neither really knowing what to say in this situation but Carnage wasn't detoured. "So, what's up?"

"Um nothing much, just doing things for Mister J."

"Right of course. What's that like then?"

"Good… well."

"Yeah?"

"I mean, it's been rough lately because he's so ill and all but things will get better."

"Would you like to talk about it?"

There was another silence between the pair as Carnage waited for an answer. He didn't know exactly what to expect or why he was even asking this. It was just one of those things you go with in the moment. Eventually an answer came through, "No. Look, Mister J wouldn't be happy with me talking to you alright. I'm kinda busy helping him out here so…"

"Why though? It gets you nothing but misery constantly."

"Hey! What do you know…"

"I know that you were a promising psychiatrist, I do know that you have a family that have now completely cut off all contact from you and I know you're not really happy. You've put yourself in a deluded state. Maybe because you're afraid of being alone or something awful happened to you and the Joker capitalised on that but you need help. You need to get away from him before he completely destroys you."

One last time there was a moment of silence between the two before Harley's voice was heard, "I need to get away huh?"

"Yeah. Meet someone else or…"

"Like who Mister C?"

"… Maybe you just need…"

A voice coming from Harley's machine interrupted the pair's conversation, it was the Joker. "Harley? What are you doing? Come over here they're about to wake up. The fun is about to begin."

"Coming Mister J, sorry I've gotta go."

"Wait a second, who is he talking about?"

Carnage never got an answer. A lot of possibilities went through his mind but two people kept popping up, Batman and Dash. He tried contacting the pair but he didn't get a response so he called the Doctor and said "Doctor, I think Bats and Dash are in trouble. Have you found a way in?"

"Yeah but it will take a minute."

"Alright I'll be right there… wait, the hell?"

Carnage looked at his original destination which was the church but it appeared the building had some sort of makeover. There were now green question marks covering the entire building. It was obvious who was behind this so Carnage had no choice. "I'm sorry Doctor but something has happened at the church and I need to check it out, I'll catch up to you later."

Carnage sprinted to the boat and didn't waste any more time on his way to the church.

Meanwhile…

Batman was starting to gain consciousness. He wasn't sure exactly how long he had been out but he knew he was in trouble. As his vision started to clear the first thing he could see was the legs of Harley Quinn walking towards him.

Batman lifted his head but he noted that Dash seemed to be fine, but she was strapped to his chest. She was still unconscious and Batman tried to lift his arms to no avail as he discovered that he had been strapped down also. Harley got closer and as Batman's vision cleared up more he realised that she was a fingertip away from taking off his mask but the voice of the Joker stopped her. "Get back here, Harley!"

The Joker coughed a little and Harley did something she did very rarely with Joker, which was argue. "But I want to see who he is sweetie."

Batman realised now that he was in a wheelchair and Rainbow Dash was starting to awaken as well. Her back was against his chest as they were strapped together and then the Joker spoke again, "No one's who you think they are my dear, why spoil the fun?"

Dash was fully awake now a spoke in a quiet voice. "Huh? What's going on? Where am I?"

It was clear her brain hadn't caught up to now but Batman focused on just the Joker. He wasn't convinced by the cough that there was actually anything wrong with him. "It was all a lie. There's nothing wrong with you."

The Joker then started to walk towards him. "Nice of you to say. But, you of all people should know, there's plenty wrong with me."

As he said those last words he leaned his face in close to the pair. Soon they could both get a good look at his pasty white face. He had bits of skin missing and a number of lesions, in short he didn't look healthy. Rainbow Dash had a less than politically correct response, "Yuck!"

"HAHAHA, is that what you've got to say. Funny coming from the living piñata. You should be grateful I decided not to bust you open to see if there was candy inside of you."

Batman spoke with an angry growl, "Let her go Joker, it's me you want."

Joker ignored him and took out a small vial of red liquid from his jacket pocket, "Anyway, back to my problems. Take my blood for example. I wish somebody would. This stuff is killing me."

The Joker cackled a little and Batman said "Why should we care?"

The Joker was quick with an answer, "Because now there's a teeny bit of me, in the pair of you Bats."

Batman and Dash both turned to where the Joker was pointing. There was a blood bag presumably filled with Joker's blood and two leads from the bag connected to both Batman and Rainbow Dash. The Joker continued, "Oh c'mon. Don't tell me it's not what you always wanted."

Dash tried not to panic, "Wait I'm a Pegasus, will this stuff affect me the same way?"

Batman replied, "I don't know, it might act slower or quicker or not at all. I can't tell you."

On queue the Joker actually got somewhat serious. "Look, were running out of time, I need your help. I nearly had a cure, it was so close but then it was taken from me."

Batman was deadpan with his reply, "So we both die. I'm fine with that."

Dash was a little surprised. "Wait, what did you say?"

Joker was again quick to retort, it was almost if he predicted the answer. "Are you? Imagine, sucking down that last breath, knowing that Gotham is doing the same."

Dash looked a little worried, she wasn't sure how to feel right now. She had never truly faced the possibility of death quite like this, with no possible way to avoid it. The Joker turned again, "I mean can you truly let your little friend here suffer both our fates."

Batman looked into Dash's eyes. There was something very human about them. She had human feelings and emotions and tendencies. She deserved to live but Joker wasn't done. "Oh and did I forget? I've spent weeks shipping my blood to emergency rooms all over the city."

"So that's protocol 10. Poison Gotham. I expected more."

The joker faked a shocked reaction, "Protocol 10?"

But then he turned it onto an uninterested response, "Never heard of it."

The Joker was clearly not interested by whatever Batman was talking about. The Joker then got right up to Batman and whispered into his ear, "Hold tight."

Batman braced for impact but he knew he couldn't prevent any harm to a clueless Rainbow Dash. The Joker shoved the wheelchair with all his strength using his foot and Batman and Rainbow Dash helplessly crashed through the window. As they fell the last thing they heard was joker calling out "I'll be in touch!"

Meanwhile…

Mr. Carnage carefully approached the church. He wasn't sure if there was anyone tracking his movements or not but he wasn't going to take that chance. The Riddler was very good at hacking and keeping an eye on everything.

He was very worried about what he would find when he heard a conversation over his earpiece between Strange and one of the patrolling helicopters.

The pilot's voice rang through, "Tiger command, this is AT5. I have visual on the church."

Strange questioned the pilot. "Are there signs of life?"

"All scans reveal no movement. It's empty."

"Good, leave Cash and his pathetic team to die. They were never part of our mission."

This only built on Carnage's hatred of Strange. A man with all his power should use it responsibly and to help others. Instead, because Cash and co. tried to help others they were a nuisance and they should rightly die. If Carnage wasn't so focused on the church then he would have gone straight after Strange. He had turned his earpiece off in frustration after hearing that.

There were three green, neon arrows pointing towards the entrance. He realised that this was likely a set up for Batman and he wasn't sure what the Riddler would do if he entered but he needed to know if Strange was right.

As he entered he saw a large projector on the other side of the room. As soon as he got close enough the Riddler flashed upon the screen. The Riddler spoke in a mocking tone. "Oh no. Where have they gone? Could it be while you and your friends were doing what you do. I, the Riddler, snuck in and took those poor stupid fools?"

Carnage spoke, trying to keep himself as calm as possible. "You must be the Riddler."

"Oh, very observant of you. You have actually peaked my interest. You arrive here with a blue Pegasus in a bolt of lightning, and then you team up with the Dark Knight and that Doctor who helped stop me back at Arkham Asylum."

"Yes, you can call me Mr. Carnage. And I'm going to enjoy sticking that large green question mark right up your ass!"

"Ha, foolish barbarism will get you nowhere. Now this was set up for Batman but I feel you should try to save this poor fool yourself. After all you have already stuck your nose in my business and Batman seems to be somewhat preoccupied right now."

The Riddler fiddled with his horn rimmed glasses. He wore his iconic green clothing and what appeared to be a green bowler hat. Carnage didn't want to waste any time on this so he got straight to the point. "Where are they?"

"Easy there barbarian. You'll have to save them one at a time, oh, and I notice that you don't have the riddle box for the times or location. You should be there in about 5 minutes. Tell you what, solve my riddle and I'll give you a clue."

"Alright then, bring it."

"I'm an instrument whose music always comes from the heart. What am I?"

"Well that's easy, you're an organ."

"Well done, see, you can do it. Now, you will meet a group of men outside the church. One of them is an employee of mine, you just have to figure out which one that is and force him to tell you the location."

Carnage sprinted in the opposite direction. The Riddler wanted to continue gloating but he wasn't bothered. He didn't take this man seriously and he knew he would have him at the riddle.

Carnage ran outside and there were three men outside. They were two-face goons and the one at the front said "You see that guy. That's the guy who's working with the Bat. The one that attacked the boss."

A goon beside him asked, "How the hell did you know he was here?"

"That's not important, just kill him."

The third goon spoke, "No problem."

Carnage muttered to himself, "Well I thought that would be harder."

The first goon received a foot to his face that launched him to a nearby gravestone. The second goon was picked up and planted into the thin blanket of snow below him. Only the goon with the information was left.

Carnage jumped towards him and he put his gloved hand around his throat. He charged up his other hand so electricity was sparking from it and put it close to the terrified goons face. Carnage said "Now I would rather not burn your face off but if you asked my ex, she would be able to tell you I have a tendency to get angry, fast!"

"Wh-what do you want?"

"Well I would rather like the location of Riddler's hostage please."

"I-I-I only help-helped him with one but I can tell you, sure."

Meanwhile…

Batman hadn't been out for very long this time. Perhaps a couple of minutes at most. Bits of wheelchair were scattered all around him and as his vision returned to him he could see the faces of the Doctor and Rainbow Dash above him. The Doctor spoke in a soothing tone, "Relax a moment. I checked you over and nothing's broken but you may have a concussion."

Batman pushed him aside, he only had tonight and there was no time to mess around. "I'm fine Doctor. What about Rainbow Dash."

Dash answered that for herself, "I'm cool, and your body kinda cushioned the fall. Then the Doctor arrived and untied me."

"Good. Then we can… wait, what's that sound?"

The noise Batman was referring to sounded like fairground music coming from a small speaker. Batman followed the noise to an unusual point. It was a phone strapped to Dash's back. Dash said "Yeah, we have had a bit of trouble getting that off. The Doctor was about to use his… OW!"

Batman ripped the taped down phone off of Dash's back. The Doctor quickly looked her over and assured her that there was no visible damage. However this didn't stop Dash getting cross at the Dark Knight, however Batman seemed oblivious to the evils he was receiving from the Pegasus.

Batman pressed a button on the phone. He knew exactly who it was on the other end so he didn't beat around the bush. "I'm listening."

The Joker spoke in a mocking tone, "Is someone feeling a little down? Oh, I can see another old friend from the Asylum down there. Hello Doctor! I could really use your help right now."

The Doctor replied, "Dash filled me in on everything that happened up there, I don't think Carnage will be happy. What do you want then?"

"Oh Doctor, lighten up. It won't kill you. But it might kill your friends, hahaha."

Batman spoke in a harsher tone, "Where is the cure? Who has it?"

The Joker was quick to respond. "I had our cold-hearted friend Mr. Freeze making it, but he's gone dark on me."

"I'll find him."

"I bet you…"

The Joker didn't get to finish that sentence. Batman crushed the phone in a single palm. Batman then reached into the screen and took out a small chip and placed it inside his armoured glove. Dash asked "What are you doing?"

"We'll be able to listen in on Joker's communications now. I need to call Alfred so be quiet."

Batman turned on his earpiece, "Alfred. Jokers poisoned me and Rainbow Dash. He may have poisoned Gotham as well. Mr. Freeze has the only cure."

"What are you waiting for? He's in Arkham city. Find him!"

"If only it were that simple. He'll be somewhere cold. He needs to be kept at sub-zero temperatures to survive."

The Doctor interjected, "Then he'll likely be at the coldest point in Arkham city. We can use the Tardis to find it."

Batman hanged up and noticed they were one short, "Is Mr. Carnage still at the entrance?"

The Doctor answered, "No he's gone off. Apparently there was something wrong with the church."

"The church? Dash, try to contact him."

She did as she was told, "Carnage? Hey Marty, are you there?"

There was no reply. Dash became very worried as she didn't treat this as a good sign. Batman said "He may be in trouble. We'll have to find him first."

Dash quickly spoke up, "Hey… um could you like not tell Carnage I told you his real name. He's pretty secretive about that. I can't tell you why but let's just say it could be pretty bad if too many people know."

Both Batman and the Doctor nodded. Then the Doctor had an idea. He took his earpiece off and pressed his screwdriver against it. He then pressed it against Batman's cowl. "There we go. You should be able to spot him if you bring up the visual map of the city. You'll be tracking his earpiece to be precise. I think something upset him and he turned it off."

Batman grabbed on to the Doctor and as quick as a flash the Dark Knight shot upwards with Dash in close pursuit. Batman glided through the air to his destination till something caught his eye.

The familiar, mysterious figure stood on top of the Ferris wheel. He was unmoving apart from the fact he kept looking squarely at Batman. The Dark Knight changed course and Dash asked "Hey! I thought we were flying this way, what gives?"

"I have to talk to him."

The Doctor got a closer look as they approached and he seemed somewhat familiar. They landed on the cart before the figure. The figure had a sharp blade on his right hand and wore a red cross on his chest. It was the same one from before. Batman was about to question him but the figure cut him off again. "I have been watching you Batman. To see if you are ready."

And like before the figure sank his blade into the ground, did a circle and disappeared in blinding puff of smoke. Dash's mouth hanged open in surprise while the Doctor did a scan of the area. He got an interesting result. "Huh, according to this there is an unidentifiable energy source coming from the area he just vanished from. Now that's impossible."

Dash asked the obvious question, "Who was that guy?"

She never got an answer. Batman looked over the area and another shape was left. Like before it was a series of lines and circles and Batman scanned it to keep in his data files. He didn't want to waste any more time. "He's gone. Let's keep going. We have to find Carnage."

No one argued. The Doctor held on tight and the three off them were off, all hoping that Carnage wasn't in too much trouble.

Mr. Carnage approached the painted wall. With his super-strength it was easy to knock over and the demolished wooden wall and now he had a simple door before him.

Carnage entered with haste but what he saw made him pause. A walkway led to a stage that faced another stage. On the other stage there was a projection of the Riddler above and a wide curtain that covered the entirety of the other stage. As Carnage made his way down, the Riddler started to talk, "Roll up, roll up. It's time for my latest game."

That was a reminder to Carnage that to the Riddler, playing with people's lives was just a game. The stage Carnage was on had a sort of plank in the middle with a giant pressure pad on it. Carnage figured he was supposed to stand on it so he did.

As soon as he did this the curtain opened to reveal three chairs. One of the chairs had a guard from the church strapped to it. He was in the middle and below all the chairs there were flames rising up slightly. The Riddler's voice boomed through again. "All you need to do is keep your eyes on the prize."

Carnage realised what game he was playing when the three boxes came down and covered the chairs. All he had to do was guess which box the guard was in when it switched around.

The box's started to move at a slow pace as the guard called out for help. They actually moved quite fast but the trial was laughably easy. In the end the box returned to the middle position and the Riddler's voice rang out again. "Pick your box, Mr. Carnage."

Carnage was about to select the middle box when a thought came into his head. This was too easy. Although the boxes moved quickly they were easy to track, they even returned to their original positions. The second thing that gave it away was the anticipation in Riddler's voice. The Riddler thought he had Carnage despite the easy puzzle. The final thing was the moving gears. Carnage could hear them working below also. It made him think that the guard may have been moved to another box so the middle one was out.

So that left either the left box or the right box. He had to get into the mind of the Riddler. He called out "You know what, you almost had me with this."

The Riddler was confused, "What do you mean?"

"You're a cheater, history has shown that. He's not in the middle. He's in one of the other two."

"How did yo… well now you have a 50/50 chance at getting it right, do you like those odds?"

"You really think I'm an idiot don't you? You have no clue what you brought down here."

"What are you babbling about?"

"You see I know people. And your still a person know matter how high you elevate yourself. A person's eye is naturally drawn to the left when looking at something. And you must have drawn a blue print at some point. So your eye was drawn to the left box, and that's the one I pick!"

"Wait! What?"

And with that the left box was raised and the tied down guard was underneath it. The Riddler was infuriated. "You-you… you must have cheated. This was designed to best the Dark Knight, how could you have overcome it?"

"Because I'm Mr. Carnage Bitch! And don't you forget it Riddler. But if you do, I'll be more than happy to remind you."

The projection turned off and Carnage leaped to the aid of tied down man.

Dash, Batman and the Doctor arrived at the smashed down wall to find Carnage waving off the hostage who appeared to be making his way to the church. Batman looked at the scene before him and realised the Riddler was behind this, "You took on the Riddler?"

Carnage replied, "Yep, I beat his riddle."

Batman had a sincere response. "Impressive."

"Thanks, he's taken all the people in the church and has made them hostages. Also the next code is 8-6-0 1-2-0."

The Doctor interrupted him, "Do they have Martha?"

"I believe so Doctor, I'm sorry. But don't worry, we'll save her."

Batman took out the riddle box and placed the numbers in, "There, it will activate when it corresponds with the time. It actually activated on the way here so I know it works. You can take it now."

Carnage placed the small device in his pocket and looked at them. "Alright then. Sorry for getting all moody at you guys earlier but I'm fine now. So, what happened?"

Everyone was quiet. No one wanted to tell Mr. Carnage the possible fate that awaited Rainbow Dash and Batman but Dash stepped forward, she felt that she should tell him the news. Carnage questioned her. "Skittles what's wrong? What's going on?"

"Marty. I have something to tell you…"

Next chapter, Freeze.

The Future has been Decided

So, the voting is now over! You may continue to vote but I see no real point at this stage.

After much deliberation I have seen the poll change dramatically since the time it started. It's been about two weeks now and I'm very happy with what I've seen.

First off before I show you. I have seen a good number of suggestions and some really good ones. I will be taking note of these and in the next story you will see another poll and these will likely be on it.

Now with out further ado here is the poll:

Now lets address this okay. If any of you have any questions about this afterwards then please feel free to ask me anything.

First off the third one is not in this list. The next Mr. Carnage story will be made but has been predetermined. It was not on the list but it is part of a popular series so hopefully you guys will like it.
And yes I can safely make the announcement on the fourth story:

The Fallout of Mr. Carnage

Now about the return to MLP and Doctor ones. These two you wont see for a while. Before you get angry let me explain. These were tests to see what you thought. It's way to early to return to MLP and Doctor who is something that will work later you will just have to trust me on that.

Now there are three who are tied to the next spot. These three will be the most likely to come soon but the order of which will be decided by me.These three are:

The Persona of Mr. Carnage

Let the image above tell you how great, wacky, funny and brilliant not only Persona 4 is, but the whole series. I'm not gonna lie, I'm so glad that a good number of you like this series.

Metal Gear Rainbow

This series is art. Art in video game form. You'll see something a little different here from this. I wont say what but I'm will to bet you'll like it.

Mr. Carnage vs. The Walking Dead

I don't want to say to much. Rest assured it's going to get grim.

So what about the others? Portal isn't happening but the others are still possibilities. Especially Dragon Age. But rest assured loyal readers I want to hear what you think of this. And don't be shy. If you hate all of this tell me. I'm doing this for a reason but I will be respectful enough to hear you out.

Now as for the next chapter, it's nearly finished. Just a few more things to do then I will send it to my pre-reader.
Have a good day everyone.

Chapter 8: FREEZE

Please leave a like and follow if you like this story, it motivates me to write more.
Dash has just revealed what happened back at the Steel Mill to Carnage. What will his reaction be?

Chapter 8: FREEZE

Mr. Carnage held on to Dash as tightly as he could without suffocating her. Dash expected a number of things emanating from Carnage when she told him. One was anger at her or Batman, him falling over, him crying. But instead of any of those he just held her. The only thing he said was when he whispered in her ear and told her that everything was going to be alright. She could feel his heartbeat thump at the same time as hers and embraced the hug instead of fight it.

They were there for a small moment. Neither Batman nor the Doctor dared to interrupt them but suddenly Mr. Carnage shot up with a smile on his face and said "Hang on a second. You said my name in front of these two. Naughty Dash. We've been over this…"

Dash lowered her head. "Yeah, sorry about that."

She was surprised he was now focusing on this but she didn't question it as for some reason he was smiling. Carnage turned to the Doctor and Batman and said "Oh well, nothing we can do about it now. So allow me to re-introduce myself. My name is Marty Wright, but please call me Mr. Carnage or Carnage."

They both shook his hand and Carnage got serious as he pointed at Batman. "Alright Batman. To clear the air, I am not mad at you. It was Dash's choice to go in there so were cool."

Batman simply nodded. Carnage turned to the Doctor. "Oh and Doctor… you're still cool."

The Doctor smiled and said "Right now that's out of the way, we had all better get off to the Tardis."

Carnage looked puzzled. "Oh right then, why do we need to go there?"

Batman answered his question. "According to Joker who is also suffering mine and Dash's illness there is a cure. Apparently Freeze has it but he has gone dark on the Joker so he wants us to get it."

It all clicked in Carnage's head at that moment. "Ah I get it now. Joker infected the pair of you to force you both to get his cure from Freeze. And he knows you well Batman. He knows you won't let him die, especially if you get a cure."

Batman said "He has apparently been distributing his blood to hospitals all around the city as well. I can't confirm this but I wouldn't put it past him."

The Doctor mentioned "We actually don't know if it will affect Dash quicker or slower than a human but were certain it will affect her."

Carnage then said "Well it appears we can't waste anytime then. Doctor, take us to your spaceship."

To say that Carnage was in heaven at this moment would be an understatement. He was the little boy from earth, sitting in front of the TV watching the Doctor save the universe from the Daleks, the Cybermen, the Master, the Slytheen, the Autons, the Sontarons one more time.

While Carnage pranced around the main console of the Tardis, he was studying every button, every detail possible. Knowing he would likely not set foot in here again.

Batman silently stood in a corner. The group had explained to Carnage on the way that they needed to find the coldest point in Arkham city to locate freeze. Dash was currently flying around the Tardis, technically she had already seen this with Doctor Whooves. Only this one was a little bit bigger. Finally the man himself, the Doctor was busily fiddling with buttons around his console, trying to get a good enough scan of the area.

The Doctor had taken off his large brown overcoat and placed it in its usual spot when he wasn't wearing it. However, carnage was now wearing it and using the screwdriver he had left in it. The Doctor didn't mind, but he did wonder how Carnage knew him son well. He was even quoting his past regenerations, but that was a distraction. Carnage had taken the coat off now and placed it back in its spot and the Doctor immediately returned back to work.

Batman was acting slightly impatient. He knew he had little time as the Joker had become a Titan and his biology protected from dying quickly. This is why he had survived for so long.

However he and Dash had taken a concentrated dose of his blood and neither of them had been properly exposed to the Titan. At best guess, Batman figured that they had less than twenty four hours. He asked the Doctor "How long till you have us a location?"

The Doctor didn't look at him as he was too busy at the consoles, but he did answer his question. "It will take a moment I'm afraid, but not as long as I thought it would. Luckily Freeze will create a spike in the temperature so it should be relatively simple to spot in the area."

Mr. Carnage noted "It would likely be even easier, if it wasn't winter out there."

"That's true but the Tardis won't let me down."

Dash stopped for a moment to ask the Doctor a question, "How long have you had the Tardis, Doctor?"

"Oh about… well let's say hundreds of years."

Suddenly a sound filled the room. It sounded like a ping. The Doctor looked over the monitor and a location had been discovered. "Ah now let's see here. It appears that the coldest point in Arkham city is at… an abandoned police station."

Batman stepped out of the shadows and said "That sounds about right. Freeze would have all the tools to create the cure in there and it would be a strong defensive point for him."

Carnage asked "Should we take the Tardis? We'll get there a lot quicker?"

The Doctor pondered this for a moment but came to a conclusion relatively quickly. "I don't think that's a good idea. There are cameras everywhere and Strange will be looking out for anything… well, strange."

Dash then flew to the door and called out, "Alright then, I'll race you all there!"

Dash flew out with Carnage in close pursuit, reminding her she didn't know where to go.

The Doctor flicked one last switch, he seemed hesitant to do this and Batman noticed this. He asked "What's wrong Doctor?

The Doctor turned around. "Oh that, that's just a security measure. I'm in another universe and I really hope I won't have to use that.

"What does it do exactly?"

The Doctor paused for a moment. He shook of any gloom he had and smiled. He replied "Don't worry about it. I'll probably never have to use it. I still haven't in all my years of travelling with sexy here."

"Sexy, huh?"

"… That's between me and her. Don't mention that to Carnage, he'll have a field day."

Batman actually smirked a little and said "My lips are sealed. Come, let's join the others."

The par ran out, not before the Doctor grabbed his coat and locked the door of his most prized possession behind him.

Little did they know that they were being watched. As soon as the group left the helicopter turned on its light and pointed it at the Tardis. Strange who had entered the copter so Batman could not hear over his communicator gave an order to the pilot. "There it is. You know what to do."

As they had made their way to the police station the Joker had figured out that Batman could hear him now. He kept making random calls, ranting about different things that the Dark knight couldn't care less about.

The four of them seemed to be in good spirits despite the potential fate that awaited Dash and Batman. The Doctor was a bit edgy, when he was asked why his only response was that he felt that something was wrong but told them to forget about it as it wasn't important.

The four of them now stood on a building overlooking the old GCPD building. There they saw a worrying site, three armed Joker goons. They were trying to get into the building bat a metal door stopped he from doing. The four of them were close enough that they could the goons conversing over their communicators. "What's stopping it?"

"The door, it's shut tight!"

"So what now?"

"You two, keep trying to get in. I'll blow their faces off if they try to get out."

"And then what? We just grab Freeze and take him back to Joker."

"Sounds like a plan. Anyone get anything to smoke?"

They switched off their communicators in unison and Dash turned to the others. "So what are we waiting for? Let's go down there and clobber them."

Batman stuck out an arm to stop her. "I'm wondering they were referring to when that goon said he'd shoot anyone who leaves."

Carnage gave an opinion. "Well there are lots of gangs in Arkham. It's probably one of them. Maybe freeze is working with someone else."

The doctor shook his head. "Unlikely, Freeze isn't exactly a team player. I'm not sure why he would help Joker in the first place."

Batman refocused and said "I'll go down there and take out the goons, meanwhile you three go down there and open up the door. I have a theory but we'll need to confirm it once were in."

Batman leaped down and began to do his thing while the others climbed down as quickly as they could.

The Doctor, Dash and Carnage came to the metal shutter. Dash noted that it looked like the one back at Jokers hideout. They could hear bullets firing and the goons crying out but were more focused on the door to really take notice.

The Doctor pulled out his trusty screwdriver and said "Right all I have to do is find the right point and the shutter should…"

Carnage however had other plans and he grabbed the bottom of the shutter and pull it straight it. Because of his strength it went with ease and Batman dropped down beside Carnage and said "Good work."

They walked in while Dash looked up at an annoyed looking Doctor. The Doctor then muttered under his breath "I could have done that."

The pair caught up to the other pair, they could all hear the gruff voice of the Penguin closed by. "Can you hear me? What's going on? Oh for the love of…"

Then followed the voice to a dead Penguin goon who had been likely killed by the Joker goons. The voice continued. "If any of you idiots at the GCPD are still capable of breathing, switch to channel Puffin-Zero. Do you understand? Puffin-Zero, now!"

Batman took the receiver from the dead goon. He took it apart and grabbed the chip. Then like before he scanned and configured and said to the others that they can now hear all of Penguin's communications also.

The four of them then cautiously entered the front entrance to the GCPD building in order not to gain any unwanted attention.

The inside of the Gotham Police Department was just like the city of Gotham. Very Bleak. Although no one and no pony was very surprised by this.

The grayish blue walls didn't help to raise the mood of anybody unlucky enough to enter. The room they were in was a mess.

There were left over wanted posters all over the walls and some of them had some old foes from Batmans past. All kinds of machinery were covered in dust and cobwebs and some were clearly in disrepair. One would wonder how freeze could work in these conditions but he had worked n worse.

Carnage made a fair evaluation of the place. "Well this is a shithole, isn't it?"

The Doctor responded by saying "Not the exact language that I would use but I suppose that's a fair

assessment. Though this place was abandoned."

Dash was confused, "Why would anypony abandon a police station?"

Batman answered, "They were forced to leave. When Strage's Arkham City plans went through he

gained this part of and evacuated all the residents. Even the police weren't safe."

They walked a bit further into the station but they paused when they heard a voice behind a wall. "The Joker's crew is still outside, Mr. Cobblepot.

The Penguin's voice was then heard over their communicators. "Good, make sure it stays that way."

The voice behind the wall then replied "No problem."

The Doctor talked quietly so no one on the other side could hear him, "It appears that we aren't alone. We need to take them out."

Suddenly the group realized Batman was absent. He had taken the initiative to shoot up and get to a grate near the ceiling.

Carnage told the others that this time they should just let the Dark Knight work this time.

Batman made his way through a vent and out through another that placed him right above five Penguin goons.

He shot up to one of the beams hanging over and looked down on the area.

This appeared to be where Freeze was working. The only thing absent was Freeze himself. He decided that a frontal confrontation would be unwise so he would instead take out silently. Especially considering the fact that his new 'Teammates' were not following him for a change.

Batman overheard a conversation from the goons below.

"What does Freeze do here anyway?"

"I don't know, but Penguin wants it. That's good enough for me."

Batman had to assume the worst at this point. The Penguin likely had Freeze. This was a problem but he had to be sure, so he would need to take out these armed thugs first.

Batman spotted one goon who trailed off from the others to the left of him. He glided to the left and fell right behind him. The unsuspecting goon then felt his airways cut off as Batman flipped him over and placed his hands on his nose and mouth until he passed out.

Batman then noticed something on the goon. It was a heartbeat monitor. That meant the goons would now be alerted by Penguin to the fact that one of theirs was knocked out.

Batman shot back up to his podium but didn't waste any time in taking out another guard.

He glided down but his intended target spotted him. The armed crook took a few shots from his AK but narrowly missed and he ate Batman's armored glove. Another shot from the Dark Knight knocked him out cold.

The other three goons had heard the noise and ran to where Batman was to investigate. However, as soon as they got there their vision was taken from them by smoke.

Batman's smoke pellet had sealed their doom and one by one they fell, till the Dark Knight was the only man left standing.

Carnage and co. then entered. They were applauding Batman's performance. Carnage said to Dash "I hope you fully understand now why he's one of my heroes."

Dash nodded with confidence while the Doctor started to examine the equipment in the room. "Now this is nice. High tech generators, modular regulators, this is like a candy cove of science stuff. In fact, most of this stuff is what you would need to find a cure. I'm willing to bet Freeze was also trying to find a cure for his wife."

Batman agreed. "Most likely. But we don't have time for that, if Freeze isn't hear he has either escaped or…"

"Wait! Wait! Don't hurt me! I'll tell you what you want to know."

Everyone turned to the scene before them. Carnage held one of the formerly unconscious goons by his throat; it was very reminiscent of how Batman did his interrogations. "Good, then you'll tell me and my friends exactly where Freeze is."

"He's in the museum. Penguin's got him!"

Batman seemed to confirm this. "I know the place, he's telling the truth."

Penguins voice was then heard over their communicators threatening "I'll have to cut that tongue out of your head, boy. I don't like people telling tales on me."

"No! I'm sorry, Mr. Cobblepot. He made me tell him."

Carnage swiftly knocked the man out again but then the group heard Penguin's voice over the intercom saying "You can 'ave him, Batman. I'm safe and sound here in my museum. Try and get me if you like. I've got plenty of surprises ready for you if you do. Starting right now."

The ground below them shook and they could hear a large booming sound from outside. Batman recognized it as an explosion. The only thing at that moment to pass out of the Doctors lips was "Well that doesn't sound good."

The Doctor expected a lot worse when he stepped outside. All he found was a destroyed bridge and a large number of stranded Penguin goons.

The Doctor thought the Penguin was smarter than this. He didn't seem to consider the fact that Batman could easily grapple to one of the buildings.

Never the less the group now found themselves inside Penguins museum. And surprise… it looked bleak. Almost abandoned but the group knew better.

They were in the hallway to the museum. Beside them were boarded up rooms which once, were likely gift shops.

As soon as the group walked through they had accidently tripped a sensor which had made a metal gate fall down on the pathway in front of them, blocking it off.

Batman wasn't detoured by this and he went into his detective vision. He broke through a window in order to follow where the sensors console was. Batman reassured his companions, "We won't be stuck by this. All I need to do is get into the sensor and…"

He took out his cryptographic sequencer and started to crack into the sensor. The words of an announcer were looped over the intercom, warning all people that entered would have to be searched in order to continue. This was likely due to Penguin's obsession of keeping himself safe from the other criminals.

As Batman continued to crack the code his screen froze. This drew everyone's attention and the voice of the Penguin was heard over the intercom "I don't think I want you breaking into my little home, Batman."

Batman stood up and looked at the others and told them "Something is blocking communications back to the Batcave."

The Doctor took out his screwdriver and took a shot at the device only to give an annoyed grunt. "It's a deadlock seal. I can't get in there."

Carnage then offered "I could just lift the gate. I think I'm strong enough."

Batman shook his head. "You are probably right. However, Penguin is likely using military grade communication disruptors. We will need to take those out now so we don't face any issues in the future."

Dash understood and said "Alright then, let's destroy those disruptor thingies."

Batman started to scan for the disruptors; he said he was able to do that at least. "There appear to be three of them, all outside of the building but they are all within the same vicinity."

Carnage then spoke up. "Actually I have a better idea. Why don't me and Batman destroy the jammers and you two stay here in case anything changes."

Dash voiced her displeasure with a "No way!"

Batman, however had other ideas. "I prefer that. Only two of us will be needed to destroy these jammers."

"Let's go then Dark Knight."

Before Dash or the Doctor could argue, Carnage and Batman had left.

To say Dash was annoyed would be an understatement. Dash wildly backed at the wall beside her in frustration. "Why does he keep doing this? Leaving me behind, constantly. I mean…"

Suddenly, a female voice was heard over the pair's communicators. "Bruce, are you there?"

Next chapter, Equestria's most awesome Pegasus and a Timelord vs. A master assassin.

Chapter 9: Shot Dead

The female voice rang over the Doctors ear but it was very faint. The Doctor quickly concluded that the voice was from the Batcave and Batman was likely too close to the jammers to hear it. The Doctor took the earpiece out of his ear and started to work on it with his sonic screwdriver. This caught the already bored Dash's attention.

"Hey, what are you doing? Don't we need to be careful with these things so we don't break them?" The Doctor didn't bother looking up as he was too busy with the device in his hand. "I'm trying to increase the signal. I would have done this for everyone earlier but they've already left. I'll do yours in a minute."

"Alright, but don't break it. It's awesome and I'll need to make sure Carnage doesn't get himself killed." Dash handed the Doctor her earpiece and the Doctor worked on the pair for a moment before handing it back to her. They both placed their respective earpiece back on and heard the female voice come out a lot clearer.

"Bruce, Are you there? Please respond, Alfred told me that we lost your signal. Hang on, there's two here with earpieces in Penguins museum." The Doctor didn't waste any time in responding. "Yes, hello there. This is the Doctor, you remember me don't you, Barbra?"

"Doctor? What are you doing there? And who's the other person with you?"

"Oh this? This is Rainbow Dash. Has Alfred not filled you in on any of this yet?"

"No, not really. When I got here I asked if anything weird had happened and he just laughed. Hold up, what kind of name is 'Rainbow Dash'?" This offended the young Pegasus who retorted "What's that supposed to mean? And what kind of name is 'Barbra'?

The Doctor tried to keep the peace between the pair. "Now ladies, lets calm down." It didn't work. "Excuse me but Barbra is a common and pretty normal name, Rainbow Dash sounds like some kind of hippy."

"My mom named me Rainbow Dash and it's an awesome name. That name is known all around Equestria."

"What the heck is Equestria?"

"Just where I came from, duh. You're only talking to the most awesome Pegasus in the multiverse."

"… Sure you're a Pegasus and I'm a flying monkey."

The Doctor felt the need to comment on this. "Actually, Barbra she is a Pegasus. Look, Alfred can fill you in on the details later but right now you need to tell us if there's a problem."

"Actually there is an interesting situation. Despite the signal jammer someone has released a distress signal on all frequencies. It isn't really encrypted but the guards haven't picked up on it. I believe it was intended for Batman."

Dash was right on the ball with this. "Well he's not available. So I guess we'll just have to take care of it."

"What? No, you two cant. This could be a trap so wait for Bruce to come back and…" Dash showed her disagreement. She never was one to keep her opinions to herself. "Screw that, B-man and Carnage have enough to deal with right now. What do you say Doctor?" The Doctor considered his options carefully. If they stayed they would avoid the wrath of the Dark Knight and maybe get the drop on the Penguin. If they followed this signal then they might be heading into a trap. A normal person would have said that they should stay. The Doctor wasn't a normal person. "You're right, Dash. Alright 'Oracle' were going to the location of the distress signal. If Batman and Carnage come back after they have destroyed the jammers tell them where we are."

"Y-you can't. I won't give you the location, Bruce will be pissed if you go and I'm not going to be part of you two getting yourselves killed." The Doctor was pointing his screwdriver in the air and when he turned it off he wore a smug grin. "Actually after synchronising my screwdriver with the Bat computer through the communicators. I don't need you to tell me the location. Are you ready, Dash? We're going near the dock areas."

"On it Boss. By the way, have I ever told you that you're kind of awesome in an egghead sort of way?"

"No, but I won't stop you." Barbra had one last go to convince them to stay. "Listen, maybe if you stay…" But Rainbow Dash was having none of it. "Cram it, were going and you can't stop us. Let's go, Doctor."

Rainbow Dash turned off her com device and the Doctor did the same. They left through the front door of the museum with haste.

"C'mon Doctor, it can't be that hard to climb a building." The Doctor wasn't inherently a violent Timelord; however he wanted to smack Dash around the head for that remark. However, his hands were occupied with holding on for dear life on the edge of a building.

"I'm not Spider-man Dash. I'm doing the best I can here."

"Don't you mean, Spider-mare?"

"We'll talk about that later, Dash." The Doctor was nearly at the top now. Some scaffolding had helped him up three quarters of the way but now he had to climb with the assistance of cracks and bits sticking out of the building. Dash was hovering next to him so she could make a quick save in case he fell.

While the Doctor climbed he thought back to the message. He was able to decode it and he configured it to play over their communicators.

"Please, I'm on the roof of the old Gotham FM building. Someone's after me. I-I don't know who. He's going to find me, I need held." The message was that of a genuinely terrified man and the Doctor intended to do everything he could to help him. That was driving him up this building.

Finally, the Doctors fingertips reached the cold edge of the building. With every ounce of strength he had and Dash willing him on he fought against the cold and was able to pull himself up. With a grunt he laid there on his front while his legs dangled off the edge.

He could see the giant antenna with 'G C R' which stood for Gotham City Radio above him. This was just another building that had to be abandoned and was no longer in use after Strange 'acquired' the area. Dash had joined him at the top and was about to tell him to get up when they heard a voice in front of them.

"Wah, who are you?" The Doctor got to his feet and faced the man who was now on his back.

The man was wearing some warm clothing but was clearly not enough for the intense cold outside. Blue jeans, green hoodie, brown boots, a blue shirt and a terrified expression was all he wore. The man was clearly panicked and the Doctor turned to Dash.

"You should let me handle this. Diplomacy isn't your strong point." He told her. The Doctor slowly approached the man and spoke in a soft tone.

"You're the man who let out the distress message, yes? Don't be alarmed, were not going to hurt you. My name is the Doctor and my friend here is Rainbow Dash. We know Batman and we can help you."

The other man calmed down a little, he stood up to face them. He actually looked a little relived now to have someone here with him. Dash wanted to know what could have this man so frightened.

"What are you doing up here? It's freezing, shouldn't up be somewhere safe?" The Doctor wanted to remind her that they were in the prison form of hell but he resisted.

"There's someone after me, he's trying to kill me." The man spoke very quickly, like he was in a rush to get away again. The Doctor then asked "Who?"

"I think he works for Strange." The Doctor and Rainbow Dash gave each other a quick glance as the man continued. "That bastard. Has me working on that damn tower of his for six months and no sooner is it all operational he has me thrown in here." The Doctor took a moment to think about the information he had been given. No obvious Batman villain came to mind so he asked another question.

"What were you working on?"

"There are a number of signal relay points at the top of the tower. The specifications…" The man never finished his sentence. The bullet that had travelled over 100 miles per hour and collided with his brain prevented him from doing so.

Dash let out a small yelp as she flew back while the Doctor ducked down. He quickly realised though that the assassin had already taken his leave as they were not his targets. The Doctor waved Dash to join him and she did so rather gingerly.

The Doctor took in the scene in front of him. The corpse was leaning against a small vent with some blood splattered against it. He quickly made a decision on what was to be done next.

"Dash, I need you to remain calm. We have to stop whoever this assassin is." The Doctor took out his screwdriver and put it in the correct setting. He scanned the air and seemed satisfied with what he found.

"Alright, the bullet went that way. I want you to follow the trail and scan the bullet and the dent it made." Dash didn't argue and nodded at the Doctor. She flew in the direction she was pointed too.

The Doctor breathed a sigh and started to turn his communicator back on. I hope Batman and Carnage have taken out the disruptor in this area. Otherwise, this will be a lot more difficult. Suddenly, Oracle could be heard over the device.

"Doctor, what's going on? I'm getting reports of a sniper bullet being fired in your vicinity." The Doctor nodded to himself.

"Good, it appears the disruptor in this area was shutdown. The man who let out the distress signal has just been killed. Has there been any other reports of people being killed by a sniper."

"Give me a minute… the city has such a large death toll that it's hard… here we go. There have at least been three other deaths. If only we had the bullet. We could use the bat computer to…"

"… To locate a suspect who uses that type. Strange must have hired the best and normally professional assassins like to have some sort of trademark." The Doctor then spotted Dash flying back towards him and judging by her expression she got what he needed.

"I'm going to send you information about the bullet in a second Oracle." Dash landed next to the Doctor and gave him back the screwdriver.

"There, I scanned that bullet. But why did you want me to do it?" Dash asked.

"You will see in a moment Dash. Barbra, I'm sending you the info now." The Doctor pressed his screwdriver against the communicator and then asked "Did you get it?"

"Yes I did. Y'know I'm still cross with you two and you better tell you're Pegasus friend to turn her communicator back on because… oh dear." Dash had turned her communicator back on and asked.

"What? What's wrong?"

"It's Deadshot. Deadshot is in Arkham City."

The Doctor then realised how foolish he had been. The signs had been clearly there but he had practically ignored them. If Deadshot was in the city then things had just gotten a lot more dangerous. Dash looked up at the Doctor with confusion written all over her face.

"Who's Deadshot?" She asked.

"He's a master assassin. He was once famed for never missing a single shot. We need to stop him now. Oracle, can you reach Batman or Carnage?"

"No, sorry I can't get a hold of either yet."

"Then we'll have to go it alone Dash. Oracle, give me a full analysis of the weapon he's using."

"Hmm, let's see here. Were in luck, he recently had the weapon fixed at a black market sector in Gotham. It's pretty standard actually but it does have traces of a rust like metallic compound." The Doctor thought for a moment before coming to a conclusion.

"He must have stored his weapon in Arkham before getting it fixed. If we find where that substance is common. Then we find his storage and perhaps that will give us a clue to where we go next."

"Just did a scan and one spot in particular is sticking out. The power substations near the edge of Arkham. It's not far from your location."

Dash flew up and proclaimed "Then what are we standing around for? Let's get him." Dash zoomed off and the Doctor waited a moment and sure enough, Dash returned. "Um… I don't know where to go."

The Doctor shook his head, unable to keep a smirk forming on his face. "I can show you the way Dash. Let's hurry."

"Carnage log. I currently find myself leaning against a wall, enjoying a delicious sausage bagel. Myself and Batman just took part in a super epic team-up where we took out a number of Penguin goons that set up disruptors, following orders from their boss, the Penguin. I do not like this Penguin. He gives us British folk a bad name. Batman is finishing off the last disruptor. I'm trying to decide what to call this little adventure. I've narrowed it down to two options. The first, 'Mr. Carnage II: Electric Boogaloo.' The second is 'The Bat, The Doctor, The Rainbow and Mr. Carnage'. I'm sort of going off the second one, it sounds like a bad fanfiction. In fact this entire adventure is like a bad fanfiction, what if… nah, that's just silly. Batman is currently giving me that 'what the fuck are you doing?' face and honestly. I don't appreciate that. Can a man not monologue to himself while talking into his hand? The rudeness of some people these days. Batman is generally moody though, I'm not sure if he's slept with Catwoman yet. To be honest, who wouldn't? I would. Multiple times. In various different places and positions. I mean me and Dash had plenty of that. We only started going at it two days before I kicked Spike's ass but my god she was worse than me. Couldn't even eat my waffles without her jumping on me. Sweet ass though. Although it's hard to miss when she takes off because the vibration…"

"CARNAGE!"

"Yes, Bats?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Nothing that you need to worry about, so have you shut it down?"

Batman punched through the screen of the disruptor, he rummaged a little bit before finding the key circuit to keep it going before tearing it out. Carnage stepped over a knocked out goon and walked up to Batman for an answer.

"Yes, that was the last disruptor. Let's get back to the museum so…"

The voice of the Penguin suddenly rang out over their com pieces.

"Have you set up that last disruptor?"

The voice of what was most likely a grunt of the Penguin responded.

"Yes Sir Mr. Cobblepot. We set it up where you told us, in the abandoned subway."

"Good, don't let Batman destroy that one as well. We've lost the other three. Under no circumstances is he allowed to get in this museum or heads will roll. You can guess who will be first on the chopping block."

Batman and Carnage looked at each other and simply nodded before taking off. The only thought that went through Carnage's head was I'm sure Dash and the Doctor are fine. I mean what kind of trouble could they have gotten themselves in to?

While lying downwards, Batman realised something.

"Wait a second, where did you get a sausage bagel?"

It had been difficult to get to the location that was marked on the map but the Doctor and Rainbow Dash had made. In pretty good time as well. Dash was fuming, the idea of another killing people as a job was all kinds of wrong to her. She had never heard of a hitpony in Ponyville and she was thankful for it.

The issue was that while Dash could get to the roof, the Doctor couldn't. The pair decided to send Dash over with the screwdriver so she could undo the bolts that held the maintenance hatch in place. The Doctor stood on the other build facing the building that Dash was on. He couldn't get there because the building was surrounded by water. The Doctor called out from his building. The cold night's air and the cool winds partially muffled his voice.

"Now remember, the screwdriver is already in the correct settings. Just press the button when the screwdriver is next to the bolts and they should unscrew."

It was rather fiddly for Rainbow Dash to use, considering the fact she had hoofs but she managed and slowly the lid of started to come off. Eventually, the last bolt was removed and the maintenance hatch fell open.

"I got it!" Called out Rainbow Dash.

"Do you see anything that could give us a clue to who he might be after next?"

Rainbow Dash scanned the interior of the box with her eyes. A sniper rifle was leaning against the side, presumably a spare in case anything happened to the one Deadshot was currently using. Cartridges and electronics were all at the bottom. There was also an unusual looking device with traces of light coming from the top. This was definitely where Deadshot kept his things but one thing stood at to Dash. A table had been set up in the centre and on top of it was a little screen. It looked like one of those phones that Carnage had shown her only this didn't have any numbers. She picked it up with her mouth and flew back to the Doctor with it. The Doctor spotted the device she was carrying.

"Hello, what's this then?" He took it from her and started to fiddle with it. "It appears to be a PDA, Dash. Their like organizers and can be used as Journals." Oracle had been listening in.

"Does it have anything important on it? Anything that could give us a clue to who his next target is?"

"Just give me a moment I think I've found… oh dear." The Doctor had stumbled across a list, a very specific list. The first three people on the list had the words eliminated beside them and the most recent one was the man both he and Dash met. "I have a list of people I believe Deadshot is meant to kill." Dash had a look over the Doctors shoulder.

"We met that gut earlier. Batman is even on this list but they also have Bruce Wayne before him." She said. Oracle had one question she needed answering.

"But who is his next target." The Doctor scrolled up to find the victim.

"It's a man called, Jack Ryder."

"Jack Ryder. That's the news reporter that was thrown in with Bruce." The Doctor then realised something.

"He's working to a tight schedule. Ryder's location is here as well and he's going to kill him in 5 minutes if we don't stop him." Barbra's console then came to life with a very familiar signal.

"Hang on a second, I think I have Bruce's signal again…"

Batman was finishing off the last disruptor. Meanwhile Carnage was cleaning up the fallen goons. Carnage was looking over the scene before him, fallen Penguin goons were all about in various different positions and it made Carnage chuckle to himself. Tiredness had not affected him, despite how late the hour was.

"Hey, Bats! Do you think the others are alright?" he asked.

"I'm not sure. Wouldn't be surprised if they went off by themselves." Batman replied.

"By the way, why did you destroy that container earlier?" Batman remembered what happened with his meeting with Bane earlier.

"It contained Titan" he replied. "It's a powerful drug that can enhance ones strength at the cost of their mind. I met an old… acquaintance who told me about it."

"You mean Bane." Bane scowled and looked at the smiling detective. "Oh come one. It's obvious. The Titan formula is clearly a modified version of Venom. I know my stuff man. Trust me when I say that I am no stranger to this world."

"Yet you have never been here."

"Listen I will…" Then the voice of Oracle came over their coms.

"Bruce, Bruce! Are you there? We need your help."

"Nice to see you could join us Barbra. This is Mr. Car…"

"Yes I know about him, Bruce but we don't have any time. Dead Shot is on the city and he's going to assassinate Jack Ryder. I've put his location on your map. Quickly, GO!" Carnage had heard the conversation and turned to Batman.

"Well we better…" When he turned though, Batman was nowhere in sight.

Deadshot wasn't exactly thrilled about his next target tonight. He felt that a lousy reporter like Jack Ryder was a bit below his pay grade. Still, money was money so why should he complain. After this though came two big jobs. One was the billionaire, Bruce Wayne. A pompous rich boy in his opinion that he would take a great amount of pleasure ridding the world of. After that was a personal score, Batman. He still remembered the day like it was yesterday. He had that politician in his site, another victim in his perfect no miss record. Then Batman arrived.

He spotted Ryder attempting to warm his hands against a makeshift bonfire in a trash can. He started to set up the rifle and had it pointed for a head shot on his victim. However he then heard footsteps behind him. His breathing slowed, his heartbeat slowed and he reached for his arm gun.

The gun that was fitted around his arm shot behind him, causing the pair sneaking up behnd him to take cover.

"I know who you two are. The man in the brown coat and the weird horse thing with him. I'm impressed that you found my stash but I'll be sure to remedy that later. Now please wait a moment. I'm about to kill Mr. Ryder then I'll deal with you two." Deadshot kept his gun pointed their direction while he looked down the scope of his rifle, easing the trigger. "Say goodnight Mr…"

The bullet was fired at an incredible force the bullet could easily tear through any man like he was tissue paper but luckily for Ryder, Batman was at hand. Batman arrived at the nick of time and pushed Ryder out of the way of the speeding bullet. Deadshot couldn't believe it. Again, Batman had done it again.

"You made me miss my target, Batman. I never miss!" Deadshot looked behind him and saw the Doctor poking out from the side but quickly ducking back. He was behind a pillar. "I suppose I'll just have to take out you're little friends here as a consolation."

The Doctor quickly changed where he was. He moved behind a flower arrangement where Dash also hid herself. Deadshot moved to a stage so he could see all around him. The Doctor looked above and spotted a vent that lead right below the assassin. The Doctor knew Batman would be preoccupied so he had to go for it.

"Alright Dash. I know you're afraid but if we work together we can get out of this. You're fast right?" Dash was surprised by his question.

"Did you forget who you're talking to?"

"Do you think you're fast enough to dodge, Deadshot?" Das took a moment to think but a smile inevitably came to her face.

"What do you need me to do?"

"I need you to distract Deadshot for a moment so I can get under him." Without another word said Dash flew upwards with Deadshot spotting her.

"There you are you little freak! I've got you now." The Assassin was taken aback by how fast she was. So fast that he was missing his shots. He never missed his shots. "How are you doing that!?"

She flew down and Deadshot thought he could still win yet little did he know that the damage had been done. The Doctor was now below him in a small pathway, slowly edgeing his way below. Deadshot was standing over a grate, blissfully unaware of the fate that awaited him. Deadshot continued to taunt them.

"I can play this game all night. Hey where your friend in the coat. To chicken to face me?" Dash wanted to buck him for that comment. "After I kill you two. I'll kill you, then Bruce Wayne and then the Bat." The doctor was almost ready. Deadshot's foot was off the way the vent opened. All the doctor had to do was lift it open and then he could grab his leg. Deadsot made one last taunt. "Strange has also made me an extra offer. A bit more cash if I take out the one with the facepaint."

Dash lost it at that comment and she charged at Deadshot. She was in her sights and a disturbing smile reached his lips as she went straight for him but then he felt his leg starting to get dragged down the grate.

"Wh-what the hell?" He saw the Doctor holding on to his leg and then the Doctor called out.

"DASH! DO IT NOW!" Deadshot turned straight into a pair of hoofs colliding with his face. Deadshot fell back as he also fell out of consciousness.

The Doctor let go and crawled through the vent to the surface where he fell on his back, panting hard. Relief washed over him as Dash joined him, lying down beside him. The two stayed there for what seemed like an eternity as sweat rolled down them. The Doctor laughed.

"So we ran around the city for at least half an hour and we took out a master assassin. That wasn't so hard was it?" Dash gave him an annoyed look at first but the façade broke as she burst out laughing with him. The Doctor dragged her into a hug but the a sight above them made Dash go wide eyed.

Carnage and Batman stood above them. Dash realised what this might look like. The pair were out of breath, a little sweaty from running around everywhere and were embracing each other. Carnage and Batman kept their unreadable faces until Carnage asked a question.

"You guys didn't have sex, did you?"
