Prologue
The city shook, an earth quake the large city. "My love, it is time for us to go, return to the surface with the boy, it is the city's time to return underwater." spoke the king of the city. The woman he spoke to sobbed, "I will never leave you." The king kissed her one last time and soon the city was beginning to sink. "Leave, the city will rise to the surface in fourteen years, wait for me, my love." Then the girl disappeared and the king sobbed in sadness. "Goodbye my dear son and wife."
A man with a trident walked into the throne of the king and struck him down with a trident. "You will never see your wife and son ever again." then he grabbed the king. He dragged the king out of the throne and teleported him to a dark room and hooked him up to chains. The man disappeared, leaving the king to scream.
The woman married to the king, Sara, sobbed, sitting on the sand of the Long Island Sound, sobbing as she saw the great city yet again fall. The baby was crying, "It's okay, my son, you will soon see your father soon." she said. But the baby wasn't crying because of that, he sensed something, something weird and powerful. Sara heard running and some foot steps. "Who are you? Show yourself.... NOW!" demanded Sara. A man appeared, a large weapon in his hand. "I am the Prowler, agent of the Dark King!" the man screamed. The Prowler approached Sara, staring at the baby. "You will not have my son!" she yelled. The Prowler smirked and raised his weapon, which she soon realized was a sword. "Then I shall kill you and you're son will never figure out where he's from." the agent said. He raced at Sara and slashed at her, watching her fall and slowly die, her baby, crying in her hands.
Attacked
My name is Jason Bridges, I go to George Washington High School. I am in the ninth grade and boy, has my school year started great. Then December 1st happened, I was well, I was attacked. It started as a normal day, riding the school bus, talking with my friends Alan and Carol like we usually do. But suddenly, we all sensed something, we didn't know exactly what it was we sensed, but we knew something was watching us. I first walked off the bus and I turned to my right and I saw a strange man with a necklace in the shape of an 'A' but without the line connecting the two curved lines, I had a feeling I knew that strange man, like I knew him from my childhood. I turned away for a minute and turned back and he wasn't there.
I sat down in Math class with Alan and Carol as we usually do and our teacher, Mr. Francis, was talking about fractions and stuff, my friends and I were all paying attention but Mr. Francis had us stay back for some reason. "Carol, Alan and Jason, you are in big trouble," he began. Thankfully, our principal, Mr. Desmond, came and took us. We walked down the hall together and through the main doors, he sat us down on a near-by bench. "Did he hurt you? Did he say anything strange?" our principal inquired. "No." we all answered. He nodded and began to speak, Mr. Francis was about to approach us, "Go to your bus," then he noticed how much closer Mr. Francis was, "Now." We did as we were told and raced for our bus.
"Mr. Desmond was acting weird today, why would Mr. Francis hurt us?" wondered Carol. Alan and I nodded, wondering the same thing. "Mr. Francis was too, it's like he wanted to do something to us, but why?" inquired Alan. I shrugged, not knowing any of the answers. All I had on my mind was going to Long Island Sound, watching the water. For some reason, every December 1st, I go to Long Island Sound and sit on the same spot every time, like I was waiting for something to rise from the water. The bus stopped and I hopped off, Alan and Carol following me off. WHOOSH! A blur appeared in front of our eyes, the man with the 'A' necklace appeared, a sword in his hand. "You all shall not go to Long Island Sound this year, for you shall all die!"
I was shocked, I couldn't move, apparently Alan and Carol couldn't either. The man with the necklace approached us, lightning coursing around his blade, he was about to make a slash at me but suddenly another blur came in his way, knocking the sword out of his hands. Soon, the blur was now visible and clear to make out and I was surely shocked. "Principal Desmond?!" I said, shocked. Mr. D didn't have time to chat as I could see, I mean, he was trying to take out someone who was trying to kill us. "Leave the children alone, Prowler!" Mr. D screamed. Suddenly, I had a flashback, a woman was on the Long Island Sound, being killed by the Prowler, a baby in her hand. I recognized the woman, and the spot, which is the spot where I sit every year on the Long Island Sound. Then, I snapped out of it. Mr. D finished off the Prowler (temporarily) and gathered us up. "We need to leave right away, Mr. Francis is like the Prowler, but he doesn't toy with you like the Prowler. I have a base with other kids that have this problem, you have a choice to come or die." he spoke. As you might have expected, my friends and I chose to go with Mr. D
It was strange, riding in a car with Mr. D, knowing that he was posing as someone that he really was not and our stupid math teacher, Mr. Francis was possibly this mysterious killer, the Prowler, the person that ruined my life, forever. My adoptive mother didn't know where I am, and I am going to an organization where a group of kids like Alan, Carol, and I, but what on earth did he mean by people "like us". The car stopped, we were parked in a lot, but no building. Mr. D opened the car doors and we exited. We approached in front of the spot without a building. Suddenly, Mr. D said something in a foreign language to us, and water rose in the form of a building, then it turned into bricks, and an actual building. Mr. D opened the door and said, "Welcome to the Half-Merhuman Base." Then, I was shocked, my jaw dropped.
