Rainbow Dash awoke from her slumber. She had almost no recollection of how she managed to get back up to her cloud home, but there was thing she was certain of, she was hungover. She opened her eyelids, but quickly snapped them shut when light ravaged her head like a napalm storm.
“Ugh”. She groaned, attempting to sit up.
Once she had sat up, she tried to open her eyes again; it felt as though someone was poking her eyes with a pair of sharp sticks. She grimaced as she kept them open and the pain began to subside, but her vision was still very sensitive. Taking it very slowly, she dragged herself off the bed. She stood up, but finding her sense of balance a bit off, promptly tumbled into the wall. She instead crawled through to the kitchen and as quickly as she could, began making a pot of coffee.
After gently sipping from her cup of coffee, she was in a much better state to think about the night before, although her headache was bothering her. The night had been fun, even Rarity seemed to have loosened up a bit. Rainbow giggled at the thought of Rarity drunkenly flirting with a very embarrassed Lyric. It was true, there simply was no party like a Pinkie Pie party. Dash sipped more of her coffee as she sat down at her table. She could only really remember the first half of the night, but there was certainly one memory that wasn’t going to leave her anytime soon.
She looked deep into the brown liquid in her cup, grinning all the while. The memory played itself through her head a few times. She felt a light blush form on her cheeks as the previous nights events ran through her head. She could never have guessed how good a kisser Ditzy was. In fact, Dash didn’t think anyone could kiss that good. It may have been the punch that night, but Dash could tell that the kiss had come from the heart.
“I wonder how Ditzy is this morning?” Questioned Dash to herself, finishing off her coffee. Before Rainbow went anywhere, there were things that needed to be taken care of. She gingerly trotted to her bathroom to relieve her aching bladder, and also to take a much needed shower. Dash pulled the cord on her shower cloud, causing a cascade of cooling water to fall. As she stepped underneath the falling water, Rainbow thought about the day that lay ahead. She hadn’t really planned anything too big, just to clear a few clouds making their way in from Whinnypeg; so she could always see if Ditzy was free to hang out later.
Rainbow let out a sigh of delight as she allowed the water to trickle through the delicate feathers on her wings. Rainbow imagined Ditzy in the shower with her, rubbing a hoof through her wings, while whispering sweet nothings into her ear. Dash blushed as scene after scene ran through her mind, imagining a variety of situations between her and Ditzy.
After finishing her shower, she stepped out and reached for a towel. As she went to wrap it round her body, she was foiled by a pair of very solid wings. Dash instead decided to dry her mane and tail with the towel, giving her wings time to settle down before trying once again to wrap it round herself.
-Elsewhere-
Dinky Doo woke up. She usually woke up to the smell of breakfast cinnamon muffins, but this morning she smelled nothing. Dinky sat up in bed. She rubbed her eyes with a hoof before releasing a large yawn.
“Mama! I’m up.” Shouted Dinky.
Hearing no response, she decided to get up. She jumped out of bed and, after stretching, trotted through the house to Ditzy’s room. When she got to the bedroom door, she nudged it open slowly.
“Mama? Are you awake?” Asked Dinky.
Dinky scanned the darkened room. She spotted the sleeping figure of her mother on the bed in the far corner, snoring softly. Dinky giggled quietly. She always liked waking up her mama when she had the chance. A smile spread across the filly’s face as she ran full speed towards the bed, leaping into the air as she came closer.
“Wake up mama!” Yelled Dinky.
Dinky landed on the sleeping pegasus with some force. Ditzy bolted awake, interrupted from a particularly nice dream involving Rainbow Dash and a dozen muffins. She quickly closed her eyes to stop the burning pain in her head and lay back down in the bed.
“Thank Celestia it’s Sunday.” Ditzy thought to herself.
“Mama! You can’t sleep now, it’s light outside!” Explained Dinky, now bouncing up and down on the bed. Ditzy let out an incoherent mumble before half opening one eye; she was greeted by the sight of her little unicorn filly, now trying to nuzzle her face out of the pillow.
“Morning muffin.” Said Ditzy groggily.
Dinky didn’t say anything, instead she simply smiled at Ditzy before laying down on the bed next to her.
“So how was your night?” Asked Dinky
Ditzy didn’t dare go into full details in front of her little filly.
“Oh... umm... it was really fun! There was music and games and... other things.” She explained, trying her best to reword the not so innocent night to her daughter.
“Wow!” Gasped Dinky. “That must have been awesome! I wish I could have gone.”
Ditzy smirked. One day her daughter would find out about Pinkie parties, but not anytime soon. Dinky’s stomach rumbled, resulting in a laugh from both of them.
“Well well!” Remarked Ditzy. “Looks like somepony needs mama’s special muffins.”
Dinky gave a squee of delight as she pulled Ditzy into a big hug. Ditzy hugged her back.
“I love you muffin.” Whispered Ditzy.
“I love you too mama.” Replied Dinky.
Ditzy yawned loudly as she stretched her aching limbs and wings. Dinky jumped down off the bed and left the room, allowing Ditzy time to make up the bed she had messed up during the night. The duvet was crumpled and messy and the corners of the sheets had been lifted revealing the bare mattress.
Ditzy giggled. That dream must have been very ‘physical’ for her bed to have ended up the bomb-site it had now become. After making her bed, brushing her teeth and flattening down her mane, Ditzy made her way through to the kitchen to begin the task of baking breakfast.
-An hour later-
Rainbow flew back towards Ponyville. She had wanted to clear the clouds blowing in from Whinnypeg as quickly as possible, but her hangover had definitely slowed her down more than she would have liked. As she touched down on the ground, she looked around. She had landed in the park which was full of playing colts and fillies. Parents were talking with each other, either on benches or blankets scattered around the large park, like pony confetti. Rainbow Dash couldn’t hear what the ponies were talking about. She didn’t even care. It was hardly likely to have interested her anyway.
Trotting towards the west exit, she spotted two familiar ponies on a bench near the exit. One of them a cream coloured earth pony with a navy and pink striped mane and tail. The other, sitting in a very awkward upright position, was a mint green unicorn with an equally mint green mane and tail with a paler stripe running through it. Rainbow smiled as she approached Lyra and Bon Bon.
“Hey guys!” Exclaimed Dash. “How are you two today?”
“Oh hey Dash. Are you OK?” Replied Lyra. “I’m definitely feeling the after effects of that party.” She motioned a hoof to her forehead as she said that.
“Ugh, me too.” Agreed Dash. “Still it was fun though; right?”
“You said it!” Remarked Lyra, leaning forward to give Dash a hoofbump.
Lyra then turned her head toward Bon Bon. “At least it would have been fun if little missy over here had kept the good times rolling.”
Rainbow and Lyra couldn’t help but stifle a giggle as Bon Bon turned a bright shade of red and face-hoofed.
“Lyra my dear.” Retorted Bon Bon. “However much I love you, it doesn’t stop me from giving you a good flank kicking every now and then.”
Lyra put on an enormous grin and wiggled her eyebrows. “Well Bonnie, the same could be said for you.”
Rainbow laughed as Bon Bon had to physically restrain herself from full on attacking Lyra. Lyra on the other hand was very much enjoying irritating Bon Bon, you could tell from her playful giggles. She then reached across and stroked her hoof across Bon Bon’s mane.
“It’s all in good fun Bonnie, it’s all in good fun.”
Rainbow looked at the scene set before her. Two ponies, one who had almost commited GBH on the other, were now sat calmly together. Rainbow shook her head. She had never really been in love before, it was a new emotion she was trying to understand for herself, but the ponies now gazing into each others eyes in front of her had painted a clearer picture in her mind of what love must be.
Rainbow bid farewell to Lyra and Bon Bon as she continued across town. It was a good ten minute walk to Ditzy’s home, two if she flew. But she didn’t feel like flying at all now which was strange for a pony like Rainbow Dash. She usually flew everywhere, but the prospect of once again seeing Ditzy had put her mind into overload.
“What if it’s awkward.” She thought to herself. A whole series of what-ifs now filled her usually clear mind. Rainbow had been so lost in thought that the time seemed to fly away, because pretty soon she was stood on the doorstep of Ditzy’s house. She gulped as she raised a hoof to knock on the front door.
“Well, here goes nothing.” She thought as she tapped on the door several times. She waited a few seconds before she could hear hoofsteps coming from within. As the door opened, Rainbow Dash found herself staring into the eyes of a filly unicorn. Dash couldn't believe how much the filly resembled Ditzy.
"Hey kid!" Said Dash. "Is your mom home?"
Dinky shot a cautious glance at the rainbow haired pegasus stood on her front doorstep.
"Mama, you got a visitor!" Shouted Dinky.
"OK muffin, i'm coming!" Came the voice of Ditzy from somewhere inside the house.
Rainbow waited outside the front door, seemingly having a stand-off with the young unicorn. A few seconds later, Rainbow was greeted with a smile as Ditzy appeared from round the doorway.
"Oh, hey Dashie!" Chirped Ditzy.
Hearing Ditzy call her by that nickname had caught Dash in a tough situation. She had to use all her willpower to stop her wings springing outwards.
"Hey Ditzy." Dash replied "Mind if I come in?"
Ditzy grinned even wider. "Sure thing!"
As the three ponies turned to go back into the house, Ditzy paused and looked at Dinky.
"Muffin, do you maybe want to go and play outside for a while with your friends?" Asked Ditzy.
Dinky smiled. "I'd love that mama!"
Dinky hastily gave Ditzy a hug before running outside to join her friends in the park.
Rainbow followed Ditzy through the hallway of her home. The smell of freshly baked muffins filled her nostrils, causing her to drool a bit. Ditzy's house was smaller than Dash's cloud home, but just about anything was smaller than Rainbow's cloud house.
As they reached the living area, the muffiny aroma became stronger, and to Dash even more heavenly. The room had a minimalistic feel to it, two sofas ran parallel to each wall. A small TV stood on an old looking stand and a relatively new coffee table took the space between both sofas. It felt homely to Dash. She never bothered with interior design, there was no point if your house was made of clouds.
Rainbow turned back to Ditzy, who seemed to be blushing a bit and turning away. They both stood there, allowing the awkward silence to consume them. Trying to find something to relieve the tension in the air. Rainbow cast her gaze towards the coffee table, a single muffin stood on a plate, beckoning Dash to gobble it up.
"Umm Ditzy, could I have that muffin over there" Dash asked, pointing a hoof at where the solitary muffin stood. "I kinda skipped breakfast."
Ditzy nodded and watched Dash make her way over to the middle of the room. As Dash walked, Ditzy couldn't help but glance at her flank. The glance turned into a stare, and the stare turned into a gaze. Ditzy was so preoccupied with Dash's flank she failed to address the problem of her wings flaring up. She didn't care though, Dash could see it for all she cared.
As Rainbow swallowed the last bite of muffin, she turned back towards Ditzy.
"Wow Ditzy, that muffin was grea..."
Rainbow didn't manage to finish her sentence, what she saw standing a metre or so in front of her was enough to grind her to a halt. Ditzy stood looking at Rainbow, a blush spread across the grey mares face, her eyes were focused and her wings were standing at full mast on her back.
All Dash could do was stare back. She had to admit to herself, Ditzy was a very attractive mare. Ditzy could also bake remarkably well, something she herself could not. Dash decided that actions would speak louder than words, so acting on impulse she beckoned Ditzy over to the couch. Ditzy trotted over to the couch as Dash lay down on her side.
Ditzy lowered her head to Dash's. Rainbow met Ditzy's eager lips halfway as they lost themselves in a passionate kiss. Rainbow finally allowed her wings to stretch outwards, and as they unfurled, they were resisted from fully opening by the couch cushions.
Dash moaned. The stress now exerted on her wings had sent an electric tingle down her spine. She opened her mouth wider as she allowed Ditzy's impatient tongue access. Ditzy began rubbing her hoof against the delicate feathers of Dash’s wings, eliciting further moans. They could have made out on the couch for hours, but Ditzy broke the kiss.
"Aww, I was enjoying that." Complained Dash
Ditzy wiped a trickle of saliva from her mouth as she regained her breath.
"Why don't we take this somewhere a little more private." Said Ditzy suggestively, winking as she did so.
She turned towards the hallway, beckoning Rainbow Dash to follow. Dash rolled off the couch before trotting quickly to catch up with Ditzy. The two giggled as they both entered Ditzy's room, locking the door behind them.
