Bugs Bunny In: Two Hares for the Price of One
Chapter 1: Rabbit meets Rabbit.
The door to Fluttershy’s cottage opened. Angel Bunny lept out of the quaint building. He was a young adorable bunny, who happily hopped into the fields, eager for another day of play.
“Have fun Angel,” Fluttershy’s soft voice called toward the bouncing bunny. “Just be back in time for supper.” The bunny looked toward his owner, responded with an affirmative twitch of the nose, and resumed his hopping toward the fields where he loved to hop and play.
As he approached his favorite meadow, he saw some creatures were standing in it. He stopped to see what they were doing. To his shock, he saw it was three Diamond Dogs. They wore vests and colors that were both encrusted with gems, and were eyeing the ground with greedy expressions.
“We find many gems here,” the most muscled one said.
“Nice not having to deal with annoying pony,” the tallest one said.
“We can find Gems without her,” the shortest one said. The three brutes starting tearing at the soil, much to Angel’s horror. He let out a mortified squeal and bounced toward the dogs in a desperate attempt to get them to stop destroying his beloved meadow.
The dogs were ignorant of the tiny rabbit, who was leaping to try and get their attention. He tried to move to the right of one of the dogs, but ended up getting buried by the dirt they were digging up. He popped out of the dirt, and let out a desperate squeak. The three brutes stopped their digging and glared at the newcomer.
"What do you want, rabbit," bellowed the tallest dog. Angel got onto his knees, put his paws together, and began twitching his nose with puppy-dog eyes.
"This your favorite play spot, and you want us to leave," the short one said. Angel nodded his head.
"OK," the short one said. "We' leave." Angel put on a happy smile. The short one's smile became mocking. "As soon we get every last gem." Angel looked on in horror as the dogs resumed their digging, destroying and tearing up the beautiful meadow. The short one stopped to glare. "Beat it, puny rabbit!" Angel walked away in tears, trying to drown out the cruel laughs the three dogs were giving him.
Nearby, however, something was burrowing around near the Everfree Forest, leaving a large dirt trail wherever it went. Soon afterward, a large rabbit burst from the ground, narrowing his eyes as he took in his surroundings.
“Wait,” Bugs Bunny said in confusion, “this isn’t Rio. I don’t see no Car-ni-val anywhere.” He pulled out his map, and began scrutinizing it with hard eyes. “I knew I should’ve taken a left turn at Albuquerque.” He pulled himself out of the ground and began walking around the area, trying to get his bearings.
While walking near some trees, an evil looking head emerged from the forest nearby, and looked at Bugs with a hungry expression. The head had green eyes and a reptilian face. Licking its lips, the head extended itself all the way to Bugs and tapped him on the shoulder.
Bugs turned around and looked at the head. He pulled out a carrot, and took a few bites as he took in the newcomer.
"Eh, what's up doc," Bugs said, trying to make small talk. Suddenly, three more heads burst out of the forest, followed by a massive, dinosaur like body that they were attached to. Bugs' eyes widened in horror, understanding that their stare toward him wasn't one of admiration, but one of hunger.
"Hi there," Bugs said nervously as he looked up at the beast. He gulped when the five heads began drooling. "Uh, sorry sir. This restaurant doesn't serve rabbit stew. We completely understand if you wish to take your business-," the beast's five heads all let out an Earth shaking roar, and charged toward the rabbit.
"AAAAHHH," Bugs yelled, running away from the hungry monster which pursued him.
"What crazy place-," Bugs jumped to avoid one of the heads biting him -," is this!" He continued his run through the field.
"When I get home-," Bugs jumped to avoid another bite ,"-I am going write one angry letter to my travel agent!" Bugs ran and ran, but he couldn't avoid the very tenacious beast. He saw a nearby tree, and a crafty smirk emerged on his face. Despite the tree being thinner then him, he was able to hide behind it, much to the beast's confusion.
A grey arm emerged from behind the tree and pushed a sculpture of Bugs in front of the monster. The sculpture had a red stick of dynamite in its mouth that let out an ominous hiss due to the fuse being lit.
"No," Bugs' voice called from a distance. "Don't eat me." The monster began licking its lips. "I am not part of a balanced breakfast. Please don't-," one of the heads took the Bugs statue. "Goodbye cruel world," Bugs said mournfully. The monster's head savored the taste of the Bugs statue.
BANG!
The five heads of the monster were covered with soot, let out very wheezy coughs, and then stumbled around in a daze before collapsing to the ground.
Bugs emerged from his hiding spot with a self-satisfied grin.
"Well, that takes care of that," Bugs said happily. He resumed his exploration of the area, when he looked down and noticed a very sad looking bunny walking around with tears in his eyes.
"What's wrong, little bunny," Bugs asked Angel with sympathy, kneeling down to look the bunny in the eye. "Why do you look so down in the dumps?" Angel pointed to the Diamond Dogs digging up his favorite field and twitched his nose.
"Those big mean dogs are digging up your favorite spot," Bugs repeated. Angel nodded. "You know what you do when some jerk messes with you," Bugs asked his new friend. Angel shrugged his shoulders. Bugs put on boxing gloves and began doing fisticuffs. "You got to knock'em dead! Show 'em who's boss! Pop them right in the kisser! That'll teach them not to-," Bugs seized his rant when Angel twitched his nose in disapproval.
"You don't want to pop them in the kisser," Bugs asked in confusion. Angel shook his head. "So what are you going to do?" Angel put on puppy-dogs and got into a begging stance.
"You want to ask them politely to leave," Bugs said in an unimpressed tone. Angel nodded. Bugs rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "Well, OK," Bugs said with an unamused look, gesturing to the ravenous dogs. "Show me how its done. But don't say I didn't warn ya!" Angel hopped over with a hopeful smile, while Bugs looked at the little rabbit like he was a naïve fool.
"Three," Bugs began counting down. "Two. One."
"BEAT IT, RABBIT," one of the dogs bellowed. This was followed by the sound of something being kicked. Angel landed back near Bugs, his rump smarting from being kicked. Angel rubbed his rump and looked up at Bugs.
"Of course you realize this means war," Bugs said to Angel in a menacing tone and an angry look in his eyes, bending down to look the little bunny in the eye. After a few moments, Angel nodded his head, furrowing his brow and looking at Bugs with narrowed eyes for the first time in his life.
