The Second Night

Remember, Luna? All those days

When we were young and careless? Free

From all the hardships that were laid

Ahead of us? Do you agree

Those were the days? Those were indeed.

I'm reading. What? A book. I see.

Well, spare some time- What do you need?

Why be so rude? Why jump with glee?

They freed you. Did I want to? Yes.

Do you know better than I do?

No. I just took a random guess.

I hate them. ...And I love them too.

They freed me - and my honour died.

They freed me - and my power ceased.

They freed me - but, I will not lie,

I'd better be among deceased.

Free. Weak and haunted. And alone.

You weren't - I was at your side.

The mind that wanders, strays and roams

Does not succumb to outer might.

My might? I tried to give you love!

Your love was just too much to bear.

One glance. One black and broken dove...

Who fell in sadness and despair.

You were that dove? I was indeed.

Who was the hawk then? You should know.

You were the one- 'Twas not my deed.

...What? By no means I was alone.

Six ponies - valiant and brave.

I said I loved them. Hated, too.

When will you leave your darkened cave

And open- Open? But to whom?

To me. Why should I? I'm your kin.

Oh, such a good one! Please, don't mock.

Luna, our feelings are akin.

I doubt that. When I ran amok,

Where were you? I was at your side.

You fought me. You resisted. Yes.

But I surrendered, wept and cried.

What did you do? ...I did my best.

Your best? You pained me. Yes, I know.

I hurt. I know. I'm still in pain.

Luna, I- No. Just rise and go.

Go. Bring about your shining day.
