The body of the famous golden boy reporter for The Daily Oracle newspaper is found at his desk, and the police are perplexed by the series of clues left behind at the scene, that seem to match that of an old urban legend of a serial murderer called, The Birthday Slasher.

With no leads and no way to figure out the clues, Chief Mazra calls in Shai Sideways to investigate the scene, and help them solve the case.

When more bodies start appearing, many begin to ask themselves if there is more fact to the myth of The Birthday Slasher after all or if this is all just some twisted game.
