Chapter 2: Romeo's meet Juliet's

Courtney and Heather entered Taylor and Paddy’s room and found out that the two bodies are sleeping still in their twin size bed.

“What do think you’re doing?” Courtney said while pulling Taylor’s blanket.

“What the! My class won’t start ‘til 9. We have Photography, remember?” Taylor cursed and pulling her blanket back.

“But that’s unfair! Ok, but you don’t wanna miss breakfast right? Ya’know we have schedules to follow!” Heather reminded them crossing her arms.

“Ok2x. Just give us a minute.” Paddy said. She sounded like she just woke up. Obviously

“We don’t have a minute. We’ll be late for class.” Courtney whines.

“Just go ahead! We’ll follow. Promise.” Taylor almost shouted. She’s in the bathroom now.

Courtney and Heather went to their co-ed dorms’ dining hall. They hurried up to catch up the elevator.

“Hold it up, Please!” Heather shouted hoping that somebody in the elevator holds the door for them.

“Thanks!” Heather and Courtney made it and thanking someone who held the elevator door.

“Hey, it’s you Malibu Barbie!” The annoying cute guy from the restroom incident yesterday said. Heather turned red and fidgeted. She decided to drop it off and never told her friends. Not now

“What? You knew each other?” Courtney asked out of curiosity, looking at the guy to Heath simultaneously. “and what did you just call Heath?” now looking to the guy.

“um, your friend went on me at the restroom yesterday.” The brunette guy quips, leaving Heather blushed even redder. “By the way I’m Tyler.” The Tyler guy introduced himself and then the elevator clicks.

Heather grabbed Courtney’s arm and immediately exited the elevator.

“Whoa wait! What’s your name?” They heard the Tyler guy shouting but Heather is impossibly fast.

“What was that about?” Courtney sounded annoyed, pulling her arm away from Heather’s grip.

“What’s what was?” Heather absolutely knows what Courtney was referring to but she felt so embarrassed. That Tyler guy really knows how to get into her nerves.

“Do you and Tyler had something..? Heather knows that infamous Courtney Allen-look.

“My god! I wasn’t even talking to the dude Court!” Heather cuts her off. “I’ll tell you but please let’s grab some food. I’m starving.”

***

Taylor and Paddy joined Heather and Courtney in their table just a minute before Heather would tell how she met this annoying/brunette/Tyler-guy.

“What? Are you blind?” Taylor said with her mouth full of mash potato as Heather started her tale. She and Paddy did not have much time to shower so she is wearing her hoodie and pair of comfy shorts. Her hair is tied up messy but looks hot.

“Seriously, I love you Tay but I’m gonna kill you. As if I intended to enter Boy’s restroom ya’know and I was in hurry.” Heather defended herself from her friends’ judgmental look.

“Ok! But he’s really good-looking guy…” Courtney said.

“And annoying and arrogant.” Heather cut her off. And attractive too she thought but decided not to say it. Actually, she was attracted by Tyler the first she met him but Tyler’s witticism is not just compatible with Heather’s short-tempered attitude.

“That sounds hot.” Paddy interjected. She too hasn’t taken a shower yet. She wore her hoodie with a dog printed at front just around her chest. She too tied her hair up into ponytail.

“Why don’t you guys date him ha?” Heather replied defensively. Among the group, she is the most short-tempered and that is so visible right now. She doesn’t want to be in the hot seat.

“Just chill Heath! You’re heating up. I could see why your parents named you Heather.” Courtney teased. Courtney and Heather are inseparable but sometimes they could be such so honest with each other.

They all laughed but Heather. “So funny.” Heather hit the two words which her three best friends’ cue to stop teasing her.

“Whoa! Our cue.  But I really want to see that Tyler guy. You think he likes Heath?” Taylor said looking to Courtney.

“Oh, speaking of the devil, there, he is the one with black backpack.” Courtney points her lips to the front where Tyler is in 4 tables apart from them with his friends.

“Oh my god, he’s looking at you Heath. Or staring.” The excitement in Paddy’s voice is really obvious. “I’ll take it back, he’s walking towards here.”

Heather panicked. “What did he want?” She could hear her heartbeat beating so fast. Oh shit oh shit.

“Hey girls, I’m Tyler.” Tyler winked to the girls and holds his gaze to Heather.

“I’m Courtney; I believe you introduced yourself to me at the elevator. This is Taylor, Paddy and Heather.” Courtney took the initiative to introduce the girls. “Wait, I really need to ask this, what did you just call Heath when we were at the elevator?”

“Oh that? Malibu Barbie.” Tyler answered her.

“A what?” The three girls said in unison.

“Malibu Barbie” Tyler said it again, this time slower and clearer.

“We’re from Sacramento!” Courtney said defensively. The three girls just laughed but Heather.

**

Tyler broke his gaze to Heather to shake hands with Courtney, Taylor and Paddy. The girls shook his hands responsively but Heather ignored him. Surely; Courtney, Taylor, and Paddy are beautiful in their own way but this Heather chic grabs Tyler’s attention.

He was caught off guard to accidentally run over to a chic yesterday. Worst is in the boys’ restroom. The entire school knew about these four transfers from California and Tyler assumed that you couldn’t be lost in boy’s comfort room if you’re not new in Spencer. He never had a chance to know her name so he just called her by names. He is very good at naming his random girls by names so they couldn’t notice he is two-timing them. He’s such an ass. Hot ass.

“What do you want?” Heather asked him coldly. She finally looks up at Tyler.

“You” Tyler flirted back still looking at Heather intensely. Heather blushed. Tyler surely is expert in making girls blushed. They couldn’t resist the Tyler Williams’ charm.

“Are you flirting with me?” Heather glared at him. If looks could kill.

“What if I am, will go on a date with me?” Tyler is really good about this.

“Look, I don’t like you. And I am in the middle of breakfast here. And oh, looks like I don’t want to eat anymore because I feel sick seeing your face and I think I’m gonna throw up. And oh, if you’ll excuse us we’re late for class.” Heather sounds pissed and annoyed but she said the word calmly. She immediately grabs her bag and Courtney’s arm like what she did in the elevator.

“I see you guys later!” Courtney called up, grasping from Heather’s tight grip.

“Nice to meet you too Heather!” Tyler called up ironically.

Tyler watched her departed the dining hall. His mouth slightly open and the girl who ain’t his girlfriend yet just dumped him.

“Sorry about that. Sometimes, Heath has just the weird way of showing her affection.” Taylor apologized for her friend. It was Tyler’s first time to look at her, more like to notice her. She is about to finished her drink as well as Paddy who sat beside her. They’re probably having no class because they’re still on their sweatshirt.

“I think that’s hot.” Tyler smirked. The challenge right now sounds great.

“Heather is her name!” Paddy and Taylor laughed. It took Tyler a minute to get the joke.

“I see you guys around and nice meeting you.” Tyler smiled. This day will be a long day. He need to think a plan of how to get Heather go on a date with him. He never had been dumped before. Not by this Malibu blonde.

**

“I couldn’t believe you did that Heath. He is just being nice. He just asked you out.” Courtney said. She’s fixing her uniform. It looks lopsided from Heather’s dragging. “And I am so not talking to you; you can’t just drag me whenever you want. Not twice in a day.”

Heather couldn’t tell if Courtney is joking or serious. She just couldn’t deal with her right now. She’s so pissed with Tyler. What she did in dining hall was just to show Tyler in his face gorgeous face that his pickup lines won’t work on her.

“I’m sorry, did that hurt?” Heather mimic a child’s voice and looks concern and slap Courtney in the shoulder. “Come on, we’re late.”

Courtney slapped her back in the shoulder faster than she could expected then ran fast before Heather would slap her back in revenge.

“Wait up.” Heather tried to reach Court’s pace.

At first glance, you wouldn’t know they’re best friends. Hurting is their weird way of showing ‘friendshipness’.

**

Tyler was in his locker when he saw Heather and her friend. Girls could be slower as turtle and boys are faster as cheetah.

Heather just hit Courtney in the shoulder and Courtney immediately hit Heather back. They look like five year olds. Tyler smiled at the thought.

“Hey man, why are you smiling like creep?” he recognized the voice owns by Kent. He is not friends with him, not really. Their lockers were just side by side and unfortunately he would get to see him time by time when he’s about to get some stuffs in his locker.

“Too early for Photography class eh?” Tyler changed the subject. He just asked the question for the sake of conversation.

“Ah yeah, I’m heading to Penguins. I need to win back my lost last night from DOTA and I’ll make sure I’ll get it before Photography starts” Kent smirked and the blonde bolted away.

Penguins’ is computer gaming shop where DOTA geeks like Kent Alter hang out. If the American dream is to win the lottery, British dream is to win DOTA tournament. Truth to boys, odd to girls.

**

Taylor and Paddy looked as Tyler’s silhouette fade away. Taylor just couldn’t believe what had just Heather said to this charming Tyler. The heat that just made by her friend Heath made her want a shower badly.

“Come on, let’s go get a shower. Heath’s heat is unbearable.” Taylor turned to Paddy who immediately nodded.

“Heath’s heat and Tyler’s hotness.” Paddy corrected. She almost sang the rhyme she got.

“That one rhymes; I did not know you’re a poet Padd!” Taylor looks amazed. She is amazed.

“Of course, Poet Paddy.” Paddy laughed at the rhyme. “I’m awesome.”

“Awesome it is!” Taylor agreed putting her arms to Paddy’s shoulder. This is now a habit since Paddy is short and everyone loves doing that.

They are now on their room and Taylor insisted to take a shower first. After she’s done, she puts her uniform on, fix her hair and spray a little cologne. She let curly her hair air-dry unlike the other girls who manage to spend another 10 minutes to blow dry their hairs specifically Courtney and Paddy who have straight hairs.

Taylor makes sure she brought her camera on. She is not really good in taking pictures but she sure wants to learn. She thinks that Photography is kind’a exciting than spending the whole session trying to read recipes.

Paddy bolted in the bathroom with her lopsided uniform and tangled wet hair.

“What’s in a hurry?” Taylor asked. She checks the time but it is only 8:30 which they’ve got 30 minutes more before class.

She positioned herself in front of the mirror and started blow-drying. She doesn’t need to answer.

“I figured out why.” Taylor rolled her eyes.

“Shut up Tay, I looked seductive with my wet look. I don’t want to seduce every Spencer’s boys.” Paddy winked at her. Paddy sure is the Joker.

“Oh, I know you would say that. James loves you the way you are.” Taylor teased her. She blushed. Paddy is having a hard time hiding her emotions. She blushed easily.

“I’ll take that as a friendly advised. Do you think he has a girlfriend?” Paddy shouted. The sound of the blower has a nerve.

“I don’t know. Why don’t you ask her? After tomorrow, I’m sure you two will make a good team up. You’re both jolly and more outgoing person.” Taylor words lighten up Paddy and made her even redder.

“aww, Tay! You’re my best friend. I’ll include James to my crush list.” Paddy’s done blow-drying. She stands up now and grabs her bag. Unlike Courtney and Heather that always fight, Paddy and Taylor just like to talk. Back in Sacramento, they’ll spend the whole day talking and then at night, either Paddy will call Taylor or Taylor would call Paddy. They would just talk and talk and talk and laugh as well.

“I know! I am the best. Come on!” Taylor puts her arm on Paddy’s shoulder again. She always said the word ‘come on, let’s go’. That’s how Taylor roles.

**

Taylor and Paddy arrived at their Photography class just a little early. No, their teacher is late because the bell rang a couple of minutes ago.

They found the two vacant seats and felt lucky because they don’t want to seat apart.

“Settle down now class.” The teacher had just arrived with a cup of coffee in his right hand, his case on the other.

“Ok, there are seem new students in class. Hope you two Ms. Strong and Ms. Mueller could catch up to our lesson because today I’ll assign you in partners to have your first project to be pass next week.” The teacher explains. “You’re late Mr. Alter.” Pointing his head to the student who just entered the room.

Taylor eyes dilated to see the man of her dreams. He looks so pissed and tired but still adorable. He continues walking to his chair just three rows from Taylor and Paddy’s desk ignoring that Mr. Brennan just mentioned him.

“That’s him.” Taylor muttered to Paddy. Paddy just looked at her with confusion.

“The guy I’m crushing to. I told you last night you nuts.” Taylor explained under her breathe.

“Kent Alter… sounds hot!” Paddy teased her poking her side.

“Ok, I’ll pair you up randomly.. Mr. Alter, you paired up with the new girl Ms. Strong. As much in my dismay, I hate to say you’re really good in Photography so better I paired you up to the newbies.”

Taylor’s jaw drop, staring is enough but working with him in a weeklong project won’t be a good idea. Taylor is really good hiding her emotions. As long as no one teased her, she would stay calm.

It’ll be fine. She shrugged.

**

Kent is a little pissed about the outcome of his DOTA tournament. He hasn’t won back all his lost last night, just the 50% of it. He hears that coach, yes coach; he likes to l call him that because he thinks it’s so cool. Yeah during 60’s to paired up with the new girl.

He searched the room to find the newbies. Then his eyes settled on the blonde and brunette just a three row from his table.

There are two of them. Kent thought. The girls are on his History class yesterday but he wasn’t paying attention when they introduced their selves.

“Ok, go to your partners now and work on your strategies. Use the rest of our time..” Coach instructed.

Kent raised his hand to get coach attention. “Coach, who was I pairing up again?”

“It’s Ms. Taylor Strong, there she is, the blonde one.” Coach pointed at the blonde with blue eyes.

Kent waved at her and Taylor walked to his desk.

“Hi I’m Kent.” Kent introduced himself to the pretty hot chic.

“I’m Taylor.” Kent reached her hand. It was soft and cold. She’s nervous.

“Are you ok?” Kent asked politely. She just nodded.

“May I take a look at your camera?” Kent said to broke the silence.

“Sure, here.” She grabbed her bag and gets her Nikon DSLR camera. “Look, I’m kind’a new to this, so please don’t be so mean if I do something stupid.” She looked away immediately.

“It’s ok. If you partnered with me, there’s nothing to worry about.” Kent grinned. As Taylor looks back to him, he immediately clicks the camera and snaps a photo.

“Hey, that’s unfair.” She grabs the camera back but Kent holding it high to make it hard for her reached it.

“Ok, I gave up.” She sounds mad and crossing her arms.

Kent finds her sexy when she’s pouting her lips and wrinkled her eyebrows. Kent snaps again a photo.

“Hey, that’s twice. I’m gonna delete that anyway. Give me that back.” She said it calmly but she looks very angry.

“I won’t give it back ‘til I copied the photo.”

“That’s not fair. I look ridiculous.” She whines. She burst out and punched Kent’s shoulder twice.

“NO, you’re beautiful” Kent said. Yeah she is. He’s quite not sure why he said that out loud.

She sweats a lot. The sweats are very obvious. While the other girls blushed, this girl sweats. She’s like a kid being caught stealing chocolates in the fridge.

She punched Kent’s shoulder again. “aww. That’s gonna bruised.”

“That’s what you get for making fun of me.” The bell rang and as much as Kent would like to spend the rest of the day teasing Taylor, she bolted out of the shop. “Wait, your camera.” Kent said it under his breath. He doesn’t have any plan on giving it back to her. He wants a copy of her pictures he just took.

**

“Oh shit, oh shit! Fuck!” Taylor is cursing. She and Paddy are meeting the girls at their lockers.

“What’s wrong? Looks like you and Kent get along with each other eh?” Paddy teased. She’s not really helping.

“He got my camera Padd! I mean, I haven’t deleted some pictures there.” Taylor felt really embarrassed at the thought of Kent seeing her pictures with friends on their way to England. She hasn’t deleted it because she hasn’t copied it to her laptop yet.

“that’s cool! You’re sharing some piece of you to him.” Paddy trying to be optimistic but still Taylor can’t help but to worry.

“Whatever you say Padd.” Taylor responded rolling her eyes. “Oh, Hey James!” Taylor called up.

“I’m not buying Tay.” Paddy ignored her. And then warm hands just wrapped her eyes.

“Guess who Padd!” Taylor said biting her lower lip trying to hold her laughs.

“Get off me.” Paddy said angrily. Then James released his hands. “Oh, James! You silly!”

Paddy said in surprise. She slapped James’ shoulder. “Am I in a bad timing?” James asked pouting his lips. He looks like a lost puppy.

“No!” Paddy and Taylor said in unison. Paddy’s now on her locker, exchanging books for the next class.

“So, are you going to have lunch with us later?” Paddy offered flashing her ear-to-ear smile.

“Is it ok?” James asked helping Paddy with his bag.

“Of course, you silly.” Paddy said grabbing her bag from James’ grip. He’s such a gentleman.

“Ok, see you then.” James waved goodbye.

**

“What’s that about ha?” Courtney said to Paddy. The four girls reunited again.

“James said he’ll eat lunch with us.” Taylor answered in behalf of Paddy who still eyes’ glued on James back.

“Isn’t that great Padd? I’m so happy for you.” Heather said excitedly hugging Paddy.

“James will eat lunch with us, Big deal!” Paddy said trying to get away from Heather’s hug.

“Shut up, Padd! Tell me you did not watch him walk away, you did not dream about him last night, you did not turn your head any direction looking for him, we’ll drop it off.” Courtney knocked Paddy off.

“I’m kidding! Aahhhhh!” Paddy couldn’t hide her excitement anymore. She just shouted both hands in her face.

They held arms while walking to their next class.

**

“James I don’t want you to hang out with some Spencers’ brats, man whores and partygoers that spend their whole school year in detention room.” His Dad’s word is still echoing in his head. His Dad is the Head of the Provost Office and it will be bad for his reputation if his own son would do something stupid.

James wouldn’t either hang out with school geeks and nerds despite the fact that he is a whiz. He decided to eat lunch in his dad’s office for three years now. Nobody knows that he is the son of the provost. They think it was just coincident that his last name was Martin.

When he saw the four transfers from California, he decided to have friends with them. Who wants to eat at the office anyway? They didn’t look like a brat and they prove it when James joined them for lunch yesterday.

It’s twelve and the Cafeteria is really crowded. He searched for the four girls specifically for Paddy. He doesn’t know what’s with her but James felt so light with her company. Maybe they just have the same likes and hates. They’re easy to get along with especially Paddy. Her optimist attitude makes everything so light.

“Hey!” James found their table and sat beside Courtney, across Paddy’s. He wants to see Paddy’s face.

“Hey James, Paddy’s waiting for you.” Courtney said. James saw Paddy’s blushing.

“Oh, what about you guys? Not looking for me?” James laughed at his own joke. And glad that the four girls also laughed with him.

The laughter’s fade and Taylor broke the silence. She is seating beside Paddy’s. “We have this homework to do and we haven’t checked the library yet. We’re not sure where it is, so if you don’t mind, could you please escort us to the library later?”

“Of course!” James agreed.

“We’ll just beep you if our class’ over.” Taylor said snatching Paddy’s phone in her pocket.

“Oh! Yeah, here’s my number.” James dictated his number.

“Here’s Paddy’s number, so you won’t get confused of whom texted you.” Taylor smiled over Paddy then back to James.

“Ah yeah, no one’s really texting me.” James said under her voice. He is busy copying Paddy’s number into his phone. He is quite excited because the three girls are very supportive to team him up to their friend Paddy.

“So, you don’t have a girlfriend?” Paddy finally found her voice. James looked at her. He’s studying her.

“I don’t have.” James answered. Honestly, he’s not seeing someone before. It’s hard to admit but he is not the normal teenager who party around and get girls under their pants.

“Why? You’re hot?” Courtney said poked James with her elbow. James fidgeted. He is quite sensitive.

The girls’ laugh fades away when James did not laugh.

“James, she’s kidding.” Paddy looked alarmed. “Courtney, you’re kidding right?”

“I’m just kidding James.” Courtney smiled.

“It’s ok! It just caught me off guard. I thought all this time I’m cool.” James laughed at his own joke again.

“You’re so funny James!” Heather said covering her mouth because she laughed so hard.

James felt so alive. He doesn’t have friends like forever. Americans are not that ass as they think. James likes them especially this beautiful creature in front of him.

“I don’t mean to brag but if you want some help with your assignments, just beep me.” James offered it to everybody but hasn’t left Paddy’s eyes.

The three girls shut their mouths for seconds. They give Paddy and James their moments.

“Thanks James, that’s so nice of you. I’m having trouble with Calculus and I could use any help that I can get.” Paddy smiled and how charming it was.

“I have nothing to do tonight. What if I’ll go to your dorms and help you with Calculus?” James offered. He wants to be friends with Paddy. He hasn’t gone out of the house for ages.

“Thank you James, that really is awesome. And what do you mean our dorms? You don’t live in dorms, do you?” Paddy’s excitement shifted to curiosity. James thinks he should tell to someone his biggest secret.

“um, eh, our house is just blocks away. Dorms wouldn’t be necessary.” James answered. It was the truth but another reason is his dad won’t allow him.

As much as James’ would like to spend the rest of the day with Paddy, he has his next class. Tonight won’t be longer. James could wait. “I should be get going, looking forward to have lunch with you guys tomorrow. See you later Paddy.” James flashed his toothy smile. He looks so happy. He is happy.

They waited for James to be out of the cafeteria. The three girls just looked at Paddy who’s smiling like hell.

“Study session with James tonight? If it’s ok with you Court, Heath, I’ll hang out with you tonight. I would give Paddy and James the privacy they want. Maybe, Paddy’s couldn’t absorb her lessons if I’m around.” Taylor said teasingly.

“Just imagining it, it spins my head round and round. How could I study if that guy is my tutor?” Paddy said sheepishly.

“You’ll be fine Padd! He offered it anyway.” Courtney said laughing. They are all laughing.

“and you’ve got his number! I could really see your future.” Heather sang the words.

“James and Paddy, sitting in the tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G.” Taylor sang the old song from movies.

They all laughed.

Paddy is nothing but a walking talking blushed.

**

Courtney and Heather went ahead because their class is over except for Taylor and Paddy who still have their last subject. They went to their dorms silently. Second day of class is really tiring. And they could really use a warm shower to relax them.

“I’ll take a shower first.” Heather said pulling her towel and ran to the bathroom.

“Ok! You won, this time.” Courtney said imitating a whining child.

She looked for her iPhone and dialled Simon’s number. He probably awakes right now. She went outside to have a good signal. The perfect spot is the gazebo. The view of Spencer’s field is beautiful from where she stands right now.

First ring, no answer

Second ring, still no answer

Third ring, Hello? His voice in the morning swept Courtney’s feet away.

Hello babe, it’s Courtney, I miss you and I wish you were here with me right now. It’s really cold here and even colder without you.

I miss you too Babe, wait, I’ve got another call. I’ll call you back.

Courtney waited a minute but Simon did not call her back. She decided to call him again.

Hey Mark are you still there?  wait baby I’m in the phone. Come on Si, let’s go back to sleep.

Courtney was about to cry of what she heard. There’s a girl in his bed.  She was gone for 4 days now and her boyfriend is cheating on her. Worst, he’s sleeping with a girl right now. But she stayed strong. She held her tears back.

No Simon, this is not Mark and go to hell with whoever slut in your bed you dick. We’re over. Don’t ever talk to me or call me! Screw you!

She hang up and she just can’t stop her tears to flow. Simon is her boyfriend for a year and a half now and all she could think right now is hatred for him. How could he do that to her?

Courtney tried to be optimistic. She’s young, she’s pretty, she is sexy, and she’s in England. Simon is not the only guy and British boys are hotter than Americans. She wiped her tears off and back off then she bumped into someone. She doesn’t know him but what a timing?

“I’m sorry! I did not see you coming.” The guy said. Courtney is tall for a girl but she tilted her head up to look into this guy’s face.

“Were you crying?” He asked and Courtney immediately looked away. They guy touched her face to force her to look back at him.

“I’m fine.” Courtney looked away again try to wipe her tears. The guy has his tan skin with black hair and brown eyes. He is maybe 6’4 inches tall and he has a build-up of a football player.

“Here.” He offered his hankie. And Courtney looked at him in the eyes. He is smiling.

“Thanks.” Courtney found her voice. It’s a little cracked after crying.

“I’m Neil.” Courtney shook his hands. Big hands.

Courtney smiled and walked away, she gave Neil’s hankie back. Her heart is about to explode and doing some nice-to-know-you moment with a stranger wouldn’t be a good idea right now. She needs to have a girls’ night out. A gallon of ice cream would nice and bunch of chocolates. Heartbreak

**

Neil is watching the crying lady as she fades away, she never told Neil her name. Most girls would be dying to have Neil’s hankie and would lighten up their face if they would meet him. But this girl is different. The Neil Orsino’s charm did not work on her. She is broke, Neil could understand that.

Neil saw her before. With her three best friends in the dorms’ dining hall. She is one of the transfers from California. She seems so happy but now she looks so sad. Why?

The red-head interests Neil Orsino, the goalie of Spencer’s soccer team. That’s unusual.

Neil finally found the death of him, his Juliet.

Romeo did not die at all.

**

Taylor Strong found her weaker side from crushing on the DOTA major, Photography minor; Kent Alter.

Heather’s heat is getting worse and about to explode on Spencer’s man-whore, Tyler Williams.

Paddy just couldn’t wait on her first date ‘study session’ with the whiz Provost’s son, James Martin.

Courtney’s leaving the ‘court’ and will find her place to a goalie’s heart, Neil Orsino.

Juliet always know where her spot is it will always be right next to her Romeo.

Chapter 3: Girls night out

Taylor checked on the library after class. Courtney and Heather had an early dismissal and Paddy went ahead to their dorms to prepare for her study session with James. It’s not that you call it ‘dating’ but to Paddy, it is. After Taylor got the book that she borrowed, she made her way to the dorms then her iPhone vibrates. It’s not that she’s expecting it to be someone else but it disappoints her to see Heather’s name in the caller I.D.

What’s up? Taylor sounds annoyed.

Where you at?

On my way to dorms.

There’s an emergency. Could you please buy a gallon of rocky road ice cream? We’ll pay up later. Don’t forget the spoons and cups. Thanks!

Why? What happened? Taylor sounds worried but Heather just hang up on her.

Taylor puts her iPhone back in the bag. She bought a gallon (seriously, a gallon?) of their favourite rocky road ice cream and grab some sweets and chips as Heather told her. She walks passed her room and went right away to Heather and Courtney’s room. She did not knock and entered the room right away. She was shocked when she saw Courtney’s on the floor in front of the TV, crying loudly and open mouthed. Heather grabs the ice cream she’s holding and gives it to Courtney.

“What happened?” Taylor asked, now seating beside Courtney and scoop a spoonful of ice cream to her cup. Courtney is still sobbing so loud while putting a spoonful ice cream into her mouth.

“Simon.” Heather answered. She is seating in her bed also with a cup of ice cream. Taylor figured it out already.

“She dumped you?” Taylor asked without thinking. She shouldn’t be so harsh to her best friend.

“NO! He cheated on me, I dumped him.” Courtney screamed still crying so loud. “I called and I heard a girl’s voice in the background calling him ‘baby’.” Courtney explained. This time a little more calm.

“What if..” Taylor said, trying to be optimistic.

“Don’t ever dare to say that it doesn’t sounds what it sounds like cuz I’ve heard it. And which side are you Tay?” Courtney spitted. She could be a little harsh sometimes.

“Okay, okay.” Taylor said, now hands in the air for her defence. “You dumped him, he’s in Sacramento, you’re in Spencer, you’re single, and you’re beautiful. Move on Court! You don’t deserve this. Nobody does.” Taylor sang the words.

“Hell-yeah! Let’s go out. And Tay, I’ve heard your mom told you she would send you here a car, right?” Heather butted in.

“Yeah but not tonight, maybe it will be delivered this Friday or Saturday, not sure. Why do I have a feeling that you know what I am thinking?” Taylor is grinning turning her head to Heather.

“What? I don’t want to go out. My eye is a wrecked.” Courtney complained still crying.

“Ok! Not tonight but as soon as Taylor’s got her ride, we’re going to paint the town red.” Heather said excitedly.

Among the girls, Taylor passed her driving test and got her driver’s license first. So, she always drives. Partly, it was her fault they all got suspension because if she did not drive all of her three best friends to school, they wouldn’t be here stuck in a boarding school.

The three decided to watch chick flicks movie and Courtney still sobbing so loud when she got to see the part wherever the leading man kisses his leading lady. Taylor, who is still in her Spencer’s uniform, and Heather just ignore Courtney’s sobbing. Taylor is supposed to be reading the book she borrowed from the library because of her assignment-night off and great thing she decided to finish her homework for tomorrow’s period the other night. Once, you received a call with a rocky road ice cream emergency, it means only one thing; Girls’ night out.

“Wait, what do you think, Paddy and James’ doing right now?” Heather asked after seeing a scene in the movie that the girl is flirting with the guy in the library.

“I don’t know. I went straight here. I did not have a chance to drop by.” Taylor said. Obviously, she’s still in her uniform. Courtney’s still crying like a baby.

Then there’s a knock in the door and Courtney’s sobs are getting worst. Heartbreak has a nerve.

**

Paddy’s study session with James is quite enjoyable than she expected. She thought that there wouldn’t be anything to absorb because James’ lips is provocative every time it moves but Paddy managed not to be distracted. They pause every after a problem is solved and James would joke around then back to lessons. Paddy never thought that a junior student would tutor a senior like her. She likes it anyway.

After they were done, Paddy’s attention shifted to her roommate Taylor. She never dropped by to change or get her stuffs before going to Heather and Courtney’s room. Is something happened?

“Thank you so much James. You really are a whiz.” Paddy thanked James after they were done with Paddy’s assignment.

“Anytime Paddz” James winked. Paddy giggled for hearing James saying her name.

“I wonder, where’s Taylor? I’ll check her on Heather and Court’s room. You wanna come?” Paddy asked to change the awkward silence.

“Um, hope you don’t mind but how you four get into Spencer? I mean, not that I don’t want you here in Spencer, actually I love having you here but I’m just curios you know.” James asked nervously. He talks non-stop when he gets nervous.

“oh! No! of course I don’t mind, um, well, can you keep a secret?” Paddy just a little bit caught off guard joked around. Not that, they did something horrible but Paddy made it sounds like it is horrible.

“Are you serious?” James asked. His nervousness shifted to confusedness.

Paddy looks at James in amusement and her smile faded when she saw James expression.

“Well, we got suspended for two weeks because of intruding school premises on a Saturday night. It was stupid spur of the moment ‘ghost hunting’. I panicked when I heard a creeping sound and ran towards the alarm and pressed it. We woke up the whole town because of our thirst for adventure. How lame? ”

“You weren’t kicked out? why….” James question was cut when Paddy answered immediately.

“Oh no, our parents are great friends as well. They think our suspension would ruin their reputation so they decided to divert the rumours that we did not get suspended but we ‘transferred’.” Paddy shared. “I missed home but I’m glad I came here.” Paddy winked at James.

“Me too, I’m glad you came.” James said.

“Come on; let’s check Taylor on Heath and Court’s room.” Paddy changed the subject to refrain herself from blushing.

“Sure, of course.” James agreed and let Paddy walks first. What a gentleman?

Heather and Courtney’s room were just two rooms away from them. Paddy and James walked silently ‘til Paddy knocked on the door. She did not wait for them to open up instead she opens the door right away. Courtney’s voice filled the room. Was she crying?

She looks up at James and saw his jaw dropped. Probably he never saw a girl crying before, sobbing. Paddy corrected the thought.

“What happened?” Paddy asked as they entered the room. Courtney continues to sob. Taylor and Heather looked up at them with a worried in their eyes.

Paddy thinks that this is a bad timing for James so she escorted him out of the room. “I’m sorry, I think Courtney’s having a tough time and boys right now wouldn’t be necessary.” Paddy explained.

“Oh yeah, it’s ok.” James still shocked and confused. “Do girls cry like that?”

Paddy laughed. “That’s the benefits of friendship James. You can cry open mouthed and tongue out in front of them.”

“Really? That is weird.” James laughed a little still trying to process the fact about girls.

“You think when boys’ obsession with cars and engines is not weird for us girls?” Paddy smirked.

“I’ll take that as a point.” James agreed running his hands through his hair.

“I’ll see you tomorrow James? And big thanks! Really, I mean it.” Paddy really wants to get James a drink or something downstairs but Courtney need her right now.

“Ok, talk to you later.” James waved goodbye flashing his all-out smile.

**

Paddy entered the room and tried to make Courtney feels better. She is the Joker and the most optimistic of the group. It really is working because Courtney is now laughing.

“Drop it off Court. Let’s just go for a boy hunting tomorrow, any Spencer guy that caught your attention lately?” Paddy asked Courtney.

“Well, after I dumped that asshole with the big S in his name, I bumped into someone. He told me his name is Neil. He’s quite attractive but I was really mad that time so I never really talked to him.” Courtney started talking without crying. “And he offered me his hanky.”

“Oh my god, did you have the hanky?” Paddy asked excitedly. Her eyes dilated with excitement as well as Taylor and Heather.

“What a perfect timing Court! Why you never told us?” Heather did not wait for Courtney to answer Paddy’s question.

“I gave it back and it’s no big deal. He was just in the process of seeing a girl crying, offered his hanky and introduced himself trying not to be rude. That’s it. I left him there without saying my name.” Courtney explained, looking to her friends’ eyes in horror.

“What? You mean he still doesn’t know your name? You did not exchange numbers?” Paddy’s voice a little high.

“Noo Paddy. You try in my position? My heart is breaking and you think it is a perfect timing to flirt with a guy with big hands, big foot, big body build-up and cute face?” Courtney describes the Neil- guy.

“You think he has a big um you know big thingy?” Paddy joked. Her mind starts to green again.

“eww Paddy! You’re gross!” The three girls said in unison.

“That’s interesting Court. So, you’re mad but you manage to observe that cute guy slash big hands slash big foot slash with big body build up.” Taylor teased Courtney ironically.

“Maybe this Neil-guy is an athlete. That’s hot Court. Simon-kiss-his-ass.” Paddy said, poking Courtney in the side.

“He-who-must-not-be-named.” Courtney flinched at hearing that dick’s name.

“I’m sorry.” Paddy apologized for saying Courtney’s ex-boyfriend’s name out loud.

“But look Court, I’m not saying he’ll be a rebound guy but at least try to loosen up. Just stare at him if you see this Neil-guy. Maybe you’ll like him soon.” Taylor explained.

“She got a point Court.” Heather agreed.

“Yeah, I agree. And I’m sure this Neil likes you.” Paddy winked.

“You think? Okay. We’ll see.” Courtney agreed, feeling better now. Simon cheated on her. She deserves to be happy.

“Yeah right!” The three girls said in unison.

“Group hug!” Paddy said. “Group hug!” The three girls echoed.

They hugged like forever and laughed out loud. They are young and no problem would be a thing tonight.

Paddy brushed her finger in the remaining ice cream container and sticks it out to Courtney’s face. Courtney in shocked opened her mouth in O-shaped. “FOOD FIGHT!” She shouted. She deep her hand in the melted ice cream and went into Paddy who covered her face immediately. Courtney couldn’t reach Paddy so she went on Heather instead.

“Oh my god! I’m going to kill you Court! You mess with the wrong man” Heather shouted, grabbed an ice cream and started to fight back.

“NO, No, I’m in uniform. Go away.” Taylor shouted. Backing up so her three best friends wouldn’t join her in there food fighting but too late when Paddy slap her cheek with melted ice cream in her hands.

“OUCH! Paddy!” Taylor screamed and wiped the ice cream on her face and joined the game.

The room filled with laughter and roaring, sure, the boy/girl next door would be absolutely mad.

“Stop it. Stop it!” Heather pleaded after a couple of minutes acting like a kid. They are all tired and sticky.

“Our room is a mess!” Heather said laughing. It is cease fire now and they are all a mess. Lucky for Heather and Courtney, they don’t need to go out but Taylor and Paddy have to go back to their room and take the shower there. Worst is everybody is going downstairs for dinner. Taylor just wishes Kent wouldn’t spot her, the curse of Co-ed dorms.

Courtney hurried up to the shower before Heather could.

“Court! You win again this time.” Heather whines.

“You have to clean it all up Paddy! You started it!” Heather shot Paddy a glare. She is always the fault-finder but this time she’s not serious.

“Why me? It’s your room anyway.” Paddy barked back. Heather stands up to reach for Paddy but Paddy bolted out of the room dragging Taylor, still laughing.

“See you downstairs at 20.” Taylor called up.

The students are out of their rooms for dinner. Taylor and Paddy run fast as they could to reach their room before somebody would point out how messy they were. They arrived at their room in fast pace.

Boarding school ain’t bad at all especially when your best friends were just next door. Every night is a girls’ night out.

Chapter 4: A weeklong has ended.

Courtney is still on her mourning mode but this time she’s quite not sure if it is still about her ex-boyfriend or otherwise. She is expecting to see Neil the next day after she encountered him but disappoints her when she hadn’t seen him until the end of the day. But still she finds herself thinking her memories with Simon. Simon’s quips, Simon’s laugh, Simon’s hotness and Simon’s cuteness.

____

“Any sign of Mr. knight in shining armour?” Paddy asked Courtney during lunch.

“I haven’t seen him.” Courtney answered shortly. Her mind is still occupied with Simon but tries not to cry. It seems like her tears had ran out from the last night’s sobbing.

“So you’re looking for him ha?” Heather is trying to psycho her.

“Shut up psycho!” Courtney barks back.

“Who is this mystery guy ha? This is interesting. Maybe he just showed because you need him. Court, try to be clumsy for a day, maybe he’ll showed up!” Taylor joked.

“I’m not clumsy like you guys!” Courtney teased back.

“Ouch! That really hurts Allen!” Paddy pouted and addressed Courtney by her last name. Paddy reacted who is the queen of clumsiness.

As usual the cafeteria filled with their laughter’s.

____

Half of Courtney’s heart still coming back to Simon but half of her heart also wants to let go. She doesn’t know how to handle this post-traumatic heartbreak thingy. It was her first heartbreak but she was also grateful that her three best friends were with her last night. They are the only ones in the world that make her sane in times like this but drive her insane when everything is just fine. Great friends.

Taylor got her camera back. She is behaving in a modest manner when she’s working project with Kent. It is so Taylor when her crush is around. She just can’t act normally like what she does when she’s with her friends. Kent teases Taylor every time they see each other in their history class or when they get to see each other in the hallway about what he saw on Taylor’s camera when he borrowed it overnight. No matter how embarrassed she was, she just can’t hate or push Kent away. She should start getting use of Kent teasing her.

_____

As Kent entered his first subject where he shared the class with Taylor, he pulled out the camera he borrowed, no actually stole from her during their Photography class the other day, from his backpack. He is giving it back since he was done scanning Taylor’s camera last night.

He walked straight ahead to Taylor’s seat and leaned down to Taylor’s ear and whispered something.

“I did not know you play soccer er?” Kent winked. He handed Taylor her camera back and turned away then he stopped and looked back again at Taylor who perspires a lot like she ran the oval.

“And guitar. That’s awesome!” Kent mouthed and turned away grinning. God, he likes teasing this girl.

____

Taylor is starting to think that Kent won’t stop teasing her because he wants her attention, how conceited it was? Taylor is never been quiet her whole life until she met him. Was this love at first sight?

Heather finally greeted Tyler in a good mood but it was all miscommunication. It was when Courtney called Tyler as ‘Ty’. Since Heather was busy exchanging books from her locker, she heard it was ‘Tay’ and thought it was Taylor. She looked up and greeted Taylor but her happy expressions shifted to annoyance when she saw it wasn’t Taylor but Tyler. Seriously, why on earth is your best friend’s name sounds like your best enemy’s name?

____

“Hey Ty!” Courtney greeted Tyler as he walks towards them.

“Hey Tay!” Heather thought it was Taylor.

“So you’re now talking to me Ms. Malibu? Does this mean you’re going out with me?” Taylor winked.

“No, I thought you were Taylor!” Heather who is a little embarrassed ran out of words. “And why am I even talking to you?” Heather turned to Courtney to grab her arms when Courtney objected. “Whoa, go ahead! I’m coming. No need to drag me again.”

Heather walked away and Courtney followed. “I’m sorry Ty. See you later!” Courtney apologized for her friend’s behaviour.

They leave Tyler there standing with a smirked on his face.

____

Paddy enjoys every lunch with James. It seems like the two are very comfortable with each other’s company. At first glance, you would say Paddy and James have something, like they are dating. All they have to do is to make it official. But James is not asking Paddy out yet which made Paddy wouldn’t think about something higher than friendship. Both sides were just riding with the flow. Just enjoy each other’s presence.

**

Taylor’s car has been delivered early than they thought. The four girls agreed to go out tonight since it is Friday night and they need to loosen up. They’ve been studying so hard to catch up with their lessons; maybe it’s time to have a break, a real break.

James suggested that they should try Inco’s; it is where most of the Spencer’s students hang out. It is a 15 minute drive from Spencer and James would meet them up there.

The girls are all set and they’re ready to leave. Heather and Courtney overdressed for a small town’s bar but they look gorgeous with their sundress and paired with flat sandals. Taylor is still on her jeans per usual and paired up with her boots that compliment her long legs. Paddy who is the only one with a date tonight spend hours choosing her clothes and finally settled on high waist shorts and tank top with a pair of ballet flat shoes which made her even shorter but Paddy is still proud of it. Unfortunately this is not California so they have their coat with them for mid-October weather.

After fifteen minutes, Taylor pulled off to Inco’s drive. The three girls get out of the car and made their way inside the Inco’s. As they remove their coat, the fellas inside Inco’s stop and stare at the four new beautiful girls in town.

“Hey guys! You made it!” James greeted them.

“It’s on the way so we never get lost. Thank god!” Taylor who drives said.

Inco’s have pool tables and foosball. It also has a dance floor where some fellas are dancing right now. It is so far different from the polo club where the four girls usually hang out back in Sacramento. They wish Inco’s have bowling alley because aside from soccer, it is the only sport they are good at. They never played pool before. Foosball is not that bad at all.

“Two Martini’s please.” Courtney ordered. She badly needs some alcohols right now. One for Heather since Taylor’s not drinking, aside from the fact that she drives, she has a bad hyperacidity and Paddy is allergic to any kind of alcohols.

“I.D please?” The bartender asked.

“What do you mean?” Courtney is confused.

“You couldn’t order drinks here if you’re below 18.” James explained.

“What? I thought eleven years old could buy drinks in England?” Taylor butted in. “I mean I heard it in the movie.” Taylor explained when her friends shot her a ‘how-the-hell-did-you-know-that’

Since they are all under age, James ordered them cheeseburgers and fries which are Inco’s best. Courtney and Heather went to foosball table and play. Taylor joined Paddy and James in the table.

“So how do you guys find Inco’s ha?” Heather could recognize that voice belongs to Tyler.

“They let you buy beer?” Courtney asked Tyler who is holding a beer in his right hand.

“I have a fake Id.” Tyler winked. “If you want I could get you both but in one condition.”

“What?” Courtney asked.

“Heather would play pool with me.” Tyler offered his condition.

“No way!” Heather objected. Courtney’s looking at her with her lips pouted. “I don’t even know how to play that.”

“I’ll teach you.” Tyler offered.

“Come on Heath, for me please? I need to loosen up.” Courtney pleaded.

Heather thought for a moment. Courtney’s pouted and Tyler is grinning. “Fine! but your treat?” Heather agreed.

“That’s my girl!” Tyler said excitedly.

“I love you Heath!” Courtney giggled and hugged Heather.

“You owe me Court!” Heather glared Courtney.

**

Tyler smirked when he saw Heather and his friends entering the Inco’s. She’s looking even more beautiful with her sundress in this October breeze. When Tyler heard that the bartender refused to give Courtney what she ordered, he came to the best idea to compensate.

He delivered the Martini he ordered for Courtney and Heather. Heather drinks it right away. Damn, she looks tense.

“Come on, I’ll show you what fun is.” Tyler winked as he reached his hand to Heather but Heather ignored it.

“How high is the stake?” Heather asked Tyler as they reached the pool tables.

“I’m here to teach you but If you want to bet..” Tyler hadn’t finished his sentence when Heather cut him off.

“No, I mean, um cuz you won’t stop asking me out which of course I’ll always say no. I came to the idea that you are betting with your friends to date me.” Heather said rolling eye balls.

“Look, after this night, your misconception with me will change. Trust me; I’m not the guy you think I am.” Tyler winked. He never bet with someone else before. All he wants is to get laid and it’s not his fault he is irresistible.

Heather blushed a little bit. She grabs the pool stick and said “How to play this?”

Tyler demonstrated Heather how to handle the pool stick and how to hit the ball. “Make sure you’ll hit the balls in order. If you’ll hit the ball 8 first, you’ll lose. Now try!”

Tyler watched Heather tried hard to hit the ball but still she ended up sending it in wrong direction. Tyler cursed the blazer. If that wasn’t on Heath’s shoulder, probably her cleavage is showing off.

“Come on, hold the stick like this..” Tyler went to Heather’s back guiding her how to handle the stick properly. He touches Heather’s back and she went uneasy.

“Too close, boy.” Heather said pulling away to Tyler’s closeness.

“Fine, now try again.” Tyler is backing off with his hands in the air in defence.

Heather tried again and fortunately hit the ball right and manages to let it in.

“Congratulations.” Tyler clapped his hands. Heather is grinning. She seems so happy. Tyler smiled that Heather is actually enjoying. “Now try the second ball.” Tyler directed.

Heather nod and lucky shot she hit the ball in. Heather couldn’t believe and she throws her hands in air for the high five. “Looks like you’re a fast learner, babe.” Tyler grinned.

“I know right.” Heather winked. Tyler thought he would get another yelling session with Heather after he called her ‘babe’ but looks like she did not objected.

Tyler watched Heather progressing. “So, I think you’re on for the real game?” Tyler challenged.

“I think I am.” Heather agreed.

“Ok, when I win you’ll go on a real date with me.” Tyler offered.

“No, no. This is my first time, I won’t risk.” Heather objected.

“You’re good Heath. Don’t tell me you’re afraid to go with a date with me? Tyler teased. “That’s it when I win but if you’ll win, you won’t get to see me forever if that’s what you want.”

“Ok, you’re on.” Heather accepted the challenged.

“That’s my girl!” Tyler said excitedly. He is sure he’ll win this game and he’s going out with Heather on a real date.

“Stop calling me that!” Heather objected.

Tyler let Heather to play first. She managed to let the third ball in but missed out the fourth. Tyler grinned. He won’t give Heath mercy. He wants to win this match. As he managed to hit the ball in, he could see Heather fidgeted in his peripheral vision.

“Yeah right, I’ll pick you up tomorrow night at 6?” Tyler winked as he’s about to hit the last ball.

“If that ball will in, yes but if it’s not, goodbye Tyler.” Heather said with confidence but Tyler could see she is crossing her fingers.

“Alright!” Tyler hit the ball and he won.

“Shit!” Heather cursed.

“It’s okay babe, fate said we should be together.” Tyler teased.

Heather shrugged. “Don’t call me that!”

“My business is done here.” Heather said and turned away.

“Wait, sure you don’t want another drink?” Tyler called up. “See you tomorrow babe!”

He watched Heather as she approached her friends in the foosball table.

**

“What’s up?” Taylor asked Heather. Taylor raised her head then focused back to the foosball table. She is playing with James and Paddy, Taylor and Paddy versus James.

“I lose.” Heather muttered.

“What?” Taylor asked her eyes still glued on the foosball.

“I have to go out with Tyler tomorrow because I lose in the pool game.”

“What?!” Taylor and Paddy said in unison. They stop playing foosball and give Heather their full attention.

“Where’s Court?” Heather asked to change the subject. Her gaze went to Courtney whose eyes are on her iPhone. Heather leaves Paddy and Taylor and joins Courtney on the table.

“What’s wrong with her?” Paddy asked still focusing her eyes on the foosball. They have been playing there like forever and James always win.

Taylor as the striker found a chance then took a shot then “GOAAALLLL!!”

Taylor and Paddy shouted when at last, they win. “Ahhhhhh!!!!” They screamed excitedly.

“That’s a lucky shot!” James whined. James was distracted when Paddy and Taylor act like they’re not focusing on the game but looks like Paddy and Taylor outsmarted him.

“No, it’s not!” Paddy winked.

They leave the foosball table and join Courtney and Heather on the table. Courtney looked horrible on her second glass of Martini. She is not a drinker after all. Heather looked depressed so she busied herself eating her fries.

“How’s your date with Tyler, Heath?” Taylor asked as she found her seat across them.

“They’re going to have their official date tomorrow night Tay!” Courtney exclaimed. Heather blushed. She just told Courtney what happened and looks like everybody knows already about it.

“Yeah, I’ve heard that! We should go for a shopping tomorrow.” Paddy suggested. She sat beside James. The two of them are inseparable the whole night. James is so different with the usual boys. He doesn’t drink and smoke which made Paddy fall even more for James.

“As if I am excited, it’s not a date okay? I’m going out with Tyler because to pay up the bet. That’s it.” Heather explained. But she really had to admit it; she had a great time playing pool with Tyler.

“No offense Lockwood, but I am watching you from here. It seems like you’re having a great time with him.” Courtney sang the words. She addressed Heather’s last name.

“I think I am.” Heather admitted. Heather’s ears filled with roaring and teasing. Paddy hugged Heather sideways.

“Oh my god Heath!!!” Taylor exclaimed. She dragged Courtney and Heather to the dance floor. They dance to the rhythm ‘Teach me how to dougie’.

James and Paddy joined them and danced. They’re having so much fun with our without a date.

**

“If it’s okay, I’ll take Paddy to the dorms?” James asked for Paddy’s three best friends’ permission.

“Of course silly, just make sure she’ll get to the dorms safe.” Taylor winked. Good thing James earned their trust especially Paddy’s.

“Great, see you later!” Heather went ahead to the Taylor’s midnight blue Ford Fiesta. She’s assisting Courtney who is a little bit dizzy with the alcohol.

“Take care Paddy!” Taylor waved goodbye. “James!” Taylor shot him a take-care-of-my-friend-look. James just smiled back and waved goodbye.

James and Paddy walked hand in hand towards James car. James opens up the car door and waits for Paddy to get in. He ran towards the driver’s seat and started the engine. He waits for Taylor to pull out the Inco’s drive.

James looked at Paddy whose eyes on the road. He forgot to tell her how beautiful she is tonight. He never told her that she is his first date and the first ever girl that he gave a ride home.

“What?” Paddy noticed that James is looking at her.

“Thank you!” James curved a smile. He took a small glance to Paddy then back to the road.

“For what?” Paddy asked. She couldn’t just stop smiling when she is with James.

“For tonight, honestly, I’ve never been out of the house for a long time. Um, except for school of course.” James said. He doesn’t know why he’s telling this but he felt light when he’s with Paddy.

“Oh? I had a great time too James.” Paddy answered. “Thanks to you too.”

“I am a Provost son Paddy. I never told this to anyone because I don’t want anyone to weird around me. My dad doesn’t want me to hang out with Spencer’s brats, so I’m glad you came here. I know you aren’t. I don’t want to eat in the office anymore.” James confessed. He never felt so light before.

“Oh James, I did not know. You can hang out with us anytime you want!” Paddy smiled. Her enthusiasm never fades. That’s why James started to like her. “Screw parents! But I’m glad my Parents send me here at Spencer. I’m glad I met you”

“Thanks Paddy!” James laughed. “I really like saying your name. It’s so unique.”

He stopped when they arrived in front of Spencer’s dorm. “We’re here.”

James went out first then open up the Passenger’s door and help Paddy out of the car. “Did I tell you, you look beautiful tonight?”

Paddy blushed. “Oh? You didn’t but I’m glad you noticed.” She giggled.

James laughed and run his hand through his hair which is his habit when he’s nervous or excited or embarrassed.

“What’s so funny James?” Paddy asked. She did not wait for James to answer. “Goodnight James.” Paddy raised her heel so hard and reached James’ cheek to kiss it.

James remained frozen as Paddy ran towards the dorms. Paddy turned back and waved at James. James waved back and watched her fade away.

“Goodnight.” James muttered and walked towards his car. The smile on his face just couldn’t fade away. This night will always be remembered.

***

Courtney had a goodnight sleep because of the alcohol. Heather’s mind is occupied with Tyler and how she enjoyed his company. She thinks she should give Tyler a chance. Taylor slept better as well especially Kent is always there in her dreams. Paddy took an hour before she fell asleep. James is like her stimulant, she gets too excited when he’s around.

Taylor woke up the next day early on a Saturday morning. The sun is shining and today is the best day to play soccer. Paddy who wakes up early as well agreed. She grabs her soccer ball and went to Heather and Courtney’s room. They dressed in a sweatshirts and a pair of shorts with rubber shoes.

“Wake up Heath! Court! We’re going to play soccer today!” Paddy tried to wake up the two bodies that are still sleeping.

“Come on, not now!” Heather said yawning.

“Courtney, seriously you need to exercise, you’ve got a curse of curves!” Taylor teased and Courtney immediately stands up.

“That’s my girl!” Taylor giggled.

Heather’s body reacted when she heard Taylor said what Tyler had call her last night. Courtney and Heather agreed and put their sweatshirts, shorts and rubber shoes. She’s now thinking what if Taylor and Tyler were twins.

“I guess we’re on!” Paddy said while tossing the ball in the air. They hurried to the field and found out that the field is used by Spencer’s football team.

Paddy and Courtney decided to run the oval because of their thickening curves. Heather and Taylor just stayed on the grass and started passing the ball.

“One more turns!” Courtney shouted to Taylor and Heather as she made her second round. Paddy decided to stay behind because she has no more stamina for another round.

“Ouch!” Courtney just hit by the ball straight to her head. She lost her balance and next thing they knew she’s is lying on the oval.

Taylor, Heather, and Paddy run towards Courtney to help her but looks like someone just help her back to her feet again.

**

“Are you alright?” Neil asked Courtney who felt a little dizzy after a flying ball just hit her in the head. Neil who is supposed to save the ball punched it hard and hit a girl straight in the head. He ran towards her and saw she was the crying lady back at the gazebo.

“I’m fine, thanks.” Courtney answered. She is a little pissed.

“Court! Are you okay?” Neil heard her friends asked. So her name is ‘Court’ Neil thought.

“I’m sorry okay.” Neil apologized and gets the ball back. He is in the middle of his training and he needs to get back to practice. He turned his heel when someone called his attention.

“Wait!” He turned his head.

“I’m Taylor.” Taylor reached her hand to shake Neil’s whose hand is still on gloves.

“I’m Neil” Neil smiled back. He removed his gloves and shake Taylor’s hand.

“This is Courtney and what you did is really awful. She could get a brain disorder or something..”

“Taylor!” Courtney cut her off but Taylor continued.

“And I think it’s best if you’d take her for ice cream or anything to cool her head down.” Taylor winked.

“um, Oh, Okay.” Neil thinks for a moment then agreed. This Taylor is funny.

“Great, she’ll wait up until you’re done with your training. By the way this is Heather and Paddy.” Taylor introduced the rest of her friends.

Neil shook their hands. “Nice to meet you and I really need to get back to practice.”

“See you later and remember you owe Courtney!” Neil heard Taylor shouted. Neil shook his head and smiled.

**

“I hate you Tay!” Courtney finally found her voice. She froze when Taylor made amend to Neil.

“You can thank me later, Court.” Taylor winked.

“You’re awesome Tay! I still couldn’t imagine that you remain silent when Kent’s around.” Paddy teased that made Taylor sweat. It’s how her body reacted when she felt embarrassed.

“Yeah, she has the guts to make Neil go out with Courtney but Strong is weaker in terms of Kent ha?” Heather joined the teasing. She addressed Taylor with her last name.

“And why the subject is being passed on me? Aren’t you excited about Courtney and Neil?” Taylor said to change the conversation.

“So that’s it. Good luck Tay when I get to see Kent.” Courtney smirked when she finally knows how to get her revenge.

“Oh my god, please no. I beg you guys!” Taylor pleaded. She sweats like hell.

They walk to the field and played soccer. They are soccer players back in their school before. Taylor plays forward, Paddy plays as a mid-field and Heather plays as a defender. Courtney is supposed to be the goalie but realized her friends need to have a cheerer so decided she’ll be her best friends’ number one fan.

They want to join the Spencer’s football team for girls but they were a month’s too late for the try out. Playing for fun on a Saturday morning sounds great for the four girls especially Courtney whose sweetheart is a Spencer’s goalie.

***

Neil’s training ended early as he thought. He rolled his eyes to find Courtney. Her friend Taylor was right, he owes Courtney big time. He made his way to the four girls who are enjoying playing football. He spotted Courtney who played as a goalie while her other friends try to score.

“Hey guys!” Neil grabbed their attention. “Look, I’ll have to take a shower first. I haven’t eaten my breakfast yet so if Courtney wants, I’ll take her to the town, I’m sure you’re tired of dorms’ meal eh?”

“Courtney would love to, Neil!” Taylor answered for Courtney who looks timid.

“Okay, I’ll pick you up in 30? What’s your room number?” Neil asked Courtney.

“um, you don’t have to do this…” Courtney said but the other blonde that Neil recognizes as Heather cut her off. “37, room 37!” Heather butted in.

“See you Court!” Neil ended the conversation. He wouldn’t take no for an answer, Courtney will and should eat breakfast with him.

**

“Come on Court, you need to be ready at 30!” Heather said.

“I hate you guys, you set me up.” Courtney said, she will have a date with Neil and she’s nervous.

“You’ll be fine Court. Neil is a hottie.” Paddy encouraged. They made their way to their dorms.

“Yes, he is!” Taylor agreed grinning.

They made their way to the dorms laughing at Paddy’s quips, Taylor’s irony, Heather’s humour, Courtney’s amusement and each other’s clumsiness. They are like a tables’ foot, it couldn’t stand when it is less than four.

Courtney will have a breakfast with Neil the goalie, Heather will have to pay up for a bet with Tyler. Paddy and James closeness went tighter as James couldn’t eat lunch alone anymore, James would take Paddy to the best diner in town for lunch. And it will be a long day for Taylor who will be staying at dorms, alone.

A weeklong studying has ended but their weekend hasn’t yet. It will be a great day until their weekend ends.

Chapter 5: Three first dates, one’s heartbreak

Courtney’s walking in her room back and forth. She just wore jeans, ballet flat shoes and her tank top paired with her cardigan. She never felt her butterflies in stomach for a long time and today, she’s very nervous. She will eat breakfast with Neil without her friends. This is going to be great.

“Tell me about the feeling Court! You’re not alone; I am obliged to have dinner with Tyler later.” Heather read what’s on Courtney’s mind and offered her sympathy.

Courtney sighed. “It will be fine Court, it will be fine. Courtney Allen, you can do it.” She encouraged herself.

She froze when she heard a knock in the door. “Oh my god, oh my god.” She collected herself and opens the door.

“Have fun Court!” Heather said as Courtney went out the door.

Courtney ignored Heather. She’s now looking to the handsome creature in front of her. Neil is wearing jeans and white t-shirt. Heather could smell his masculine scent. How sexy?

“Hi, are you ready?” Neil asked.

“Yeah, let’s go!” Courtney smiled. At least she managed to walk despite of her nervousness.

They remained silent on their way down to the dorms until they get to Neil’s range rover.

Neil opens up the door for Courtney. “Hop in.”

Neil went to the driver’s seat right away. “Have you tried the borderline? Best Mexican in town.”

“Um, I haven’t, it’s my first time to explore the town.” Courtney answered. “Mexican sounds great.” She smiled.

“Sounds like a plan.” Neil grinned. “Why you transferred here anyway?”

“um, it’s complicated.” Courtney answered shortly.

“Borderline is a 20-minute drive, we’ll eat breakfast together, and if you want I could treat you a dessert as well, come on I can handle ‘complicated’.” Neil glanced at Courtney who turned pink then back to the road.

Courtney laughed “You’ve got a point Mr. Goalie.”

Neil laughed as well. “Are you going to tell me or what? It’s not that you are accused by murder or something that you think Spencer is the best great escape, was it?”

“If you’re a crime suspect, you are black listed and couldn’t even fly out of the country.” Courtney laughed. “Okay I’ll tell you.”

“We got suspended, all four of us, Taylor, Heather, and Paddy. Since our parents were friends, they think we’re better off in a boarding school away from them. They don’t want us.” Courtney’s voice sounds a little sad.

“Oh? So you’re in a gang or something? Why you get suspended? I did not know beautiful girls like you know how to be reckless err?” Neil teased. He got a sense, sense of humour.

“I’m not sure if I’d take that as a compliment.” Courtney winked. “Did you know that there are three ways to get out of the gang? It’s either you go to jail, you get shot or in our case, gang kicked us out. That’s how notorious we are, nobody could handle us.” Courtney joked.

“Are you serious?” Neil asked.

Courtney laughed. “I’m kidding.” Neil also laughed. He likes this girl.

“I figured out, you would say that.” Neil said. “I’m glad you could laugh now.” Neil commented as he remembered the scene in the gazebo.

Courtney remained silent. The amusement in her face fades. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to.” Neil apologized.

“It’s okay.” Courtney curved a smile but doesn’t reach her eyes.

Neil pulled off when they arrived at the Borderline. He went out to open up the door for Courtney but Courtney is already out of the car. Maybe she thinks chivalry died.

They went inside the restaurant and Neil help Courtney on her seat.

“What do you want to eat? Tacos are great here.” Neil offered as they looked at the menu.

“Whatever you say.” Courtney smiled.

“Ok, two Tacos, burrito, and two diet coke.” Neil ordered to the waitress who’s flirting with him.

“The girls around here like you.” Courtney said. She sounds cold.

Neil shot her a what-look then Courtney points her head to the giggling girls at the next table.

“Are you jealous?” Courtney did not expect what had just Neil said. She went pink.

“No, I’m just stating the fact.” Courtney defends herself.

Neil just smiled and stared to Courtney’s eyes. “What?” Courtney asked him. She went uneasy when Neil’s looking at him intensely.

Neil stares broke when their order served.

“Thanks!” He mouthed to the waitress who giggles.

Neil looked back to Courtney who rolled her eyeballs. She is jealous when Neil’s flirting with other girls. Neil did not just mind it and dig in, as well as Courtney who’s starving.

Courtney just eats her breakfast. Neil is flirting with girls openly and willingly. Courtney couldn’t blame them. She is having breakfast with the Spencer’s goalie, his tan skin, his smile, his stare, his beautiful face and his athletic build-up would make every girl crazy.

It’s first time in a week she’s not thinking of Simon anymore.

**

Paddy is dancing crazily in their room. She’s now dressed up with above the knee dress and tights. She is waiting for James to pick her up for their second date. Her excitement went even worse when she heard the knock in the door.

“Paddy, relax.” Taylor said glancing to Paddy then back to the book she’s reading.

Paddy ignored her and opened up the door. James greeted Paddy and Taylor then they went out of the door.

“Where are we going?” Paddy asked holding James arm as they went down the dorms.

“Where do you want to go?” James answered Paddy with a question.

“I don’t know, I’m new here, remember?” Paddy answered him. She hit James in the arm.

“Oh, I forgot, It feels like you’ve been here in my arms forever.” James laughed at his own pick-up lines.

Paddy laughed even harder. “You’re funny, James!”

James brought Paddy at the Jo’s arcade. After lunch, he needs to buy a present for her mom’s birthday and he could use Paddy’s help since she is a girl.

“What your mom’s like?” Paddy asked as James told her about his plans. They are eating lunch right now.

“She is the best.” James answered. He showed his mom’s picture from his phone.

“That’s sweet. I’m sure you two are really close.” Paddy said as she saw the picture. “I miss my mom.”

“It’s ok Padd, I’m sure she misses you too.” James smiled. “How’s Courtney doing anyway?” James asked as he remembered Courtney’s sobbing.

“She went out with Neil, you know him, the goalie?” Paddy asked. She continues her story when James nodded. “He hit Courtney hard in the head with the ball then Taylor made Neil to go out with Courtney as a consequence for hitting her.”

“Really? I like Taylor. I remember she made us exchanged numbers as well.” James stated.

“Yeah, you’re right! You like Taylor?” Paddy teased.

“no, um, I mean I like her because if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have the guts to ask you out.” James said. He is so honest about what he feels.

“Oh?” Paddy blushed.

“You know, I really like you blushing.” James grinned. Paddy went even redder.

Paddy laughed. “So, I’ve heard.”

“I think I should get Taylor a present, shouldn’t I?” James asked.

“She really likes to read, I’d suggest you’ll get her a book.” Paddy suggested.

“Ayt!” James agreed.

They went out of the diner and start looking for what’s the best gift for James’ mom.

“My mom really likes to collect soap with personalized designs.” Paddy stated. “You think your mom like that?”

“That’s perfect Paddy, you’re amazing.” James exclaimed. He reached for Paddy’s shoulder and hugged her sideways.

“I know right!” Paddy laughed. She really is a happy person and you won’t try harder just to hear her laughed.

They found the perfect shop and purchased the designed soap. James also escorted Paddy as she goes shopping. Seriously, what could be even worst in shopping? James would rather solved thousands of Calculus problems than spend less than five minutes in a dress shop.

But he’s enjoying every moment with Paddy. He enjoys watching her running fingers on the dress rack and how her eyes lightened when she saw the perfect dress. Priceless moments.

***

Heather did not waste her minutes trying to be look perfect. She tied her hair up messy. She puts her jeans on and a sweatshirt. She lied in her bed so Tyler wouldn’t think she is excited. But the truth is she hadn’t slept better last night.

She heard a knock at her door. She stands up and pretended she just woke up. She opens up the door and rubs her eyes. “Hey Tyler.” She said lazily.

“What do you think you’re doing?” Tyler looks angry. “We have a date, remember?”

Tyler expected that Heather would dress gorgeously more than last night but not like this. She’s wearing sweatshirt and looks like she just woke up but she is still beautiful with her curly blonde hair tied up messily.

“Oh, I think I couldn’t go. I’m not feeling well.” Heather said yawning. Tyler immediately touched her neck to check her temperature.

“You’re a terrible liar, Heath.” Tyler said calmly but he looks mad. “Go get your purse and change your footwear.” Tyler commanded.

Heather looks down at her foot. She’s wearing her bunny slippers. Tyler looks very intimidated. Heather followed what he commanded. She puts her slip on shoes and grabs her bag.

Tyler immediately drag Heather in arm as she was done putting her shoes on. “Wait, I need to lock the door.” She said gasping from Tyler’s grip.

“Tyler, you’re hurting me.” Heather whines. Tyler is still dragging her until they got in the elevator.

Tyler loosens his grip but still holding Heather’s arm. “You think you can ditch me that easily ha? Remember you owe me a date. We had a bet.”

“I don’t want to go on a date with you, don’t you get it?” Heather said glaring. Tyler is still dragging her as they went out of the elevator.

Tyler flinched to Heather’s words. He waits until they got into his car. He gets the bouquet of flowers from the passenger’s seat. “Fine!” He handed the flowers to Heather and walked to the driver’s door.

“Tyler, wait!” Heather called up. Tyler stopped. “I pretended that I just woke up so you would think that I am not excited going out with you but the truth is I haven’t slept last night.” Heather admitted. “Thinking of you..” Heather couldn’t look at Tyler’s face so she just faced down as she said the last words.

Tyler went immediately towards Heather after he heard what she just said. When Heather raised her head, Tyler leaned down to kiss her lips. Tyler stepped back when Heather did not kiss back. Heather looked shocked.

“I’m sorry, um, I shouldn’t do that.” Tyler apologized. Heather looked down and started to walk away but Tyler holds her hand. “Heath, wait, you still owe me right?”

Heather lightly laughed. She faced Tyler and said “You’re impossible. If the world ends today, all you have in mind is still that bet.”

Tyler grinned and walked Heather to his car still hand in hand.

Since Heather isn’t dressed as what Tyler had expected, there would be a change of plan.

“Where are we going?” Heather asked as Tyler made his turn on McDonald’s drive thru.

“Watch and learn.” Tyler winked. Heather did not asked more questions as Tyler ordered McDonald’s goodies.

Tyler drives to the shore. Good thing he has a blanket back in his compartment. “We’re here baby!” Tyler said grinning.

“What? Where?” Heather said confusedly then her eyes lightened up when she saw the shore and the beautiful sunset. “Oh my god” Heather said absentmindedly. She went out of the car and looked back at Tyler. “This is awesome Ty!” She said excitedly and hugs Tyler.

Heather couldn’t believe of what she had just done. She hugged Tyler but released him right away. It was the awkward moment.

Heather ran towards the shore and Tyler followed with the McDonald goodies and the blanket. This is a bad timing for beach because of the mid-October breeze.

This wasn’t a bad idea at all. Tyler thought.

They sat down at the shore and eat while watching the sunset.

“I’m glad you like this.” Tyler said.

“Like Ty? I love it. This is awe-mazing.” Heather exclaimed. “I miss California.”

“I miss you too.” Tyler muttered

“What?” Heather asked.

“Nothing” Tyler said. Then Heather brushed her hand on Tyler’s face. “Why did you do that?”

“Nothing” Heather smirked. Then Tyler started to tickle her. Heather starts screaming and laughing.

Heather ran and Tyler ran after her. They play and play like they are five years old. Heather couldn’t imagine this date with Tyler wasn’t a bad idea after all. She is having a great time as much as she had last night.

Tyler likes this girl. One time he hates her then still found himself coming back to her then now he’s enjoying this moments with her. And he knows Heather felt the same as well. He made Heather’s heat cool down for a moment and he hopes it will last forever.

**

Taylor busied herself reading books while her three best friends’ have their date.  Courtney’s breakfast with Neil seems gone well because Courtney hasn’t back yet. Paddy’s lunch with James obviously went good as well because she’s not here yet and Heather is probably enjoying her date with Tyler right now.

Taylor finished two books already and her eyes are not cooperating so she opens her netbook and surf the internet for a change. As she log on to her facebook, she found that she has a lot of notifications but she just opened her account the other day when she blogged about Kent. When she checks her friend requests, the one that lifts her heart up is that Kent sends her a friend request. Taylor accepted it and started stalking his account.

Kent is not vain at all. Most of his pictures are stolen, so probably he’s not taking pictures of himself like other vain guys do. Taylor also noticed in the pictures that Kent always covers his mouth. What’s wrong? Taylor’s eyes couldn’t believe when Kent Alter’s name pop up in her chat box.

Hey Tay!

Hey Kent! What’s up?

Where you at?

Dorms, you?

At Penguins

Where’s that?

You don’t wanna know. ;)

Taylor doesn’t know what to reply. Kent is making fun of her again. Where the hell is Penguin’s and what is that?

Kent is the middle of his DOTA tournament when he saw Taylor has accepted his friend request. He ‘chat’ her but she went offline after he started teasing her. He took a break to the game and started to stalk Taylor’s account. After he saw random pictures, it came up to his mind, what if Taylor has another account aside from facebook?

He googled Taylor’s name and he found out her blog. Kent being nosy much started to read her latest post.

Spencer’s strangers

My first day at Spencer went just fine. I’m so glad I got the upper locker since I’ve grown this gigantically tall. The most interesting today is this Kent guy, my future husband. Haha just kidding. ……

Kent smiled, Taylor blogged him. He found the other post and continues to read it.

Taylor ‘can’t’, No, it is Taylor Kent

I so love Photography. Fate stepped in and he is my partner with the project coach assigned. He is fun to be with. I spend the whole class punching his arms because he always kept shooting pictures of me. I hate it especially when he borrowed my camera overnight. Good thing I did not use it when I took him a picture during our history class. hush, ok?

Kent grinned. He wasn’t sure what he feels. Was he flattered?

Taylor has a crush on him. Kent just realized that’s why she feels awkward when he’s around. He admits Taylor is beautiful but he was too busy with his addiction with DOTA and did not even notice it. How could he be so insensitive?

He stands up and paid how much he owes the Penguins. He wasn’t sure if where he’s going but he hurried up to his car. He’s going to find Taylor.

**

Taylor went down to get some chips in the cafeteria. She is used to be alone because her parents are always out of town. Her brother is always late going home and she always eats alone. So being alone is just normal in Taylor’s case.

After she bought the chips and water, she saw Kent entering the dorm. Taylor immediately ducks her head down. Oh my god, she’s acting really weird when Kent’s around.

When she looks up, she saw a girl hugs Kent. Kent looks shock but then hug back the girl. Kent puts his hand on the girls shoulder and the made their way to the elevator. Oh no, they’re going to Kent’s room. Taylor concluded.

Taylor went frozen. She wants to cry but for what? She’s not even Kent’s girlfriend and for all things why Taylor hadn’t think about that first, about Kent being in a relationship.

I hate you Kent, I hate your stupid smiles, I hate your flirting and I just hate you. Taylor flinched at the thought.

Now she hates Kent for having a girlfriend. Taylor shrugged and went upstairs back to her room. She started cleaning her room and busied herself arranging her closet. It is Taylor’s attitude when she is depressed or unhappy. She is not the usual girl. While others eat ice cream and chocolates when they are depressed, Taylor cleaned her room.

**

Kent’s sister arrived to surprise him. She is studying in London and barely went home. Kent is supposed to find Taylor but when he entered the dorm to find her, he was surprised to see her older sister. He is really close to his sister and usually people think she is Kent’s girlfriend. His sister looks young despite that she’s two years older than Kent.

“What are you doing here?” Kent asked as he hugs her sister.

“I miss you too brother!” Kat greeted her brother ironically. “Let’s go to your room. I have something for you.”

“Sure, come on!” Kent said.

“So, where’s your girlfriend ha?” Kat teased.

“Actually Kat, I’m looking for her but you came.” Kent explained. He doesn’t have a girlfriend. He’s too in love with computer games.

“Are you serious? Well, in fairness to this girl, she made you take a break in playing DOTA ha?” Kat said.

“Yeah, I’ll introduce you to her soon.” Kent winked.

“So my brother is serious? What’s her name?” Kat asked curiously.

“It starts with letter T.” Kent grinned, opening the door of his room.

“Come on Kent, why so secretive?” Kat glared.

“She’s not my girlfriend yet Kat, but she wants to be.” Kent joked. They continue exchanging stories and talk about Taylor, Kent never topic a girl before to his sister. Taylor seems so special.

***

Among the three, Courtney is the first to arrive. She handed Taylor a takeout salad from Neil then excused herself because she needs to take a shower.

“Neil said thanks.” Courtney said as she handed the salad. Taylor doesn’t have any idea why but accepted the salad anyway.

Taylor did not tell her that she’s depressed. She faked a smile so they won’t see. She ate her dinner at her room because she doesn’t want to go out of her room anymore. Paddy arrived after ten minutes and looks very happy with shopping bags in her bag.

“What’s this?” Taylor asked as Paddy throws the paper bag to her.

“James’ thank you gift.” Paddy shouted while she’s changing clothes the bathroom. “He owes you because you taught him courage to ask me out.”

So that’s it, Neil gave her a salad and James gave her a book for a thank you gift. They think Taylor is their stupid cupid, the reason why they are now dating her friends. Yeah right, but my heart is breaking now.  Taylor thought.

“Oh? Tell him thanks.” Taylor called up. She saw it was a book. “I’m going to sleep early Padd. My eyes suck. I need to rest it, Goodnight! Tell me what happened tomorrow, ok?”

“Ok Tay, sleep well.” Paddy said. She’s now out of the bathroom. “Did you clean Tay? The room looks nice.” Paddy commented but Taylor did not reply.

Taylor is so happy with her best friends. She is sure the three first dates went just fine. She doesn’t want to ruin it because of her heartbreak with the boy who’s not even her boyfriend. She pretended that she’s sleeping but actually she hadn’t slept well that night. Before it was a sweet dream when Kent showed up to her dreams, but now it seems like a horrible nightmare.

Chapter 6: Truth unveiled

Sunday was a great day to have girls’ bonding since their ‘boyfriends’ are obliged to join their parents for some family event because Sunday is supposed to be a family day. Neil told Courtney that he will be joining his parents to attend the mass and Tyler is out of town to attend some family stuffs. James invited Paddy to go to mass with his parents but Paddy refuse since she is not ready to meet James parents yet.

“TAYLOR!” Courtney exclaimed as she and Heather walk in to Taylor and Paddy’s room. Taylor covered her face with pillow because she doesn’t want to deal with her friends yet. She is too sleepy. Always remember, never joked to someone who just woke up. It won’t do any good.

“Come on Tay! You are the only single of the group. Let’s go find Kent so he would finally ask you out!” Courtney said excitedly as she shook Taylor’s body to wake her up.

“Oh yeah Tay!” Paddy said as she sat down in her bed rubbing her eyes while stretching.

“What?” Taylor sounds surprise. She now sat down in her bed. “You and Neil?” She pointed to Courtney.

“You and Tyler?” She looked at Heather. “No way? That was fast.” Taylor shook her head.

“And Kent has a girlfriend. Forget about him.” Taylor walked to the bathroom.

“What?” The three girls said in unison.

“What? No way, I could see he likes you too Tay!” Courtney said.

“I saw him yesterday with his girl while you guys were busy with your boyfriends” Taylor shouted. She’s inside the bathroom.

“Oh? Are you okay Tay?” Courtney called up.

“I’m fine. Don’t worry.” Taylor replied. She is still at the bathroom.

Courtney, Heather, and Paddy stared at each other. They knew Taylor. She would say she’s okay but the truth is it was the opposite. They smiled to each other and they would know how to do. They would find Taylor a boyfriend. The three gave  their high fives as if they already come up to a great plan.

“What?” Taylor asked when her friends looked at her like they were up to something.

“Okay! We’ll go get a shower. You two should be ready and Tay, wear something cute!” Heather instructed.

“What? Where are we going? Are we going to church?” Taylor asked but then Heather and Courtney bolted out of the door and Paddy grabbed her towel to go first to the bathroom.

“What the hell is happening?” Taylor muttered. She went to her closet to find the ‘something cute’ Heather had told her. She settled on a plain white V-neck shirt and pair of jeans. She paired it with her pink and grey stripes cardigan and boots. The usual Taylor outfit.

After an hour, Courtney and Heather walk in the room again. They were dress fashionably as they are, this time, so English because of scarfs around their necks. Paddy is so beautiful with her tights and long sleeve dress.

“Taylor, I think there is lacking.” Heather said. She is critic in terms of fashion as well as Courtney. She went to the drawer and grabs a dangling and gave to Taylor. “Wear this.”

“and this.” Courtney added. She gave Taylor a wristband.

“Why do I get a feeling that you’re up to something?” Taylor is curious. She doesn’t like the attention.

“Now we’re all set. Grab your keys and we’re going to church.” Courtney commanded.

“Let’s go.”  Paddy sang the words.

The four girls exited the room and made their way to parking lot. At first you would think Spencer is an abandon place because of no single person is around except for the four. Even in the parking lot, no one’s car was parked but Taylor’s Ford. Maybe their parents were right, if they want to have their ghost hunting in school, Spencer is the best place especially during Sundays.

**

Heather called Tyler as she waits for Courtney to be done taking a bath. She asked him if he knew Kent Alter and luckily he knew him. He said that he don’t think so if Kent is taken or not. All he knew is that he plays DOTA a lot and you can barely see him with girls.

“Court! Tyler doesn’t think that Kent has a girlfriend and I got his number. Tyler gave it to me.” Heather called up for Courtney who’s in the bathroom.

“Me thinks too. We should call him.” Courtney said as she bolted out of the bathroom.

“You call him. Here is his mobile and I’m gonna get a shower.” Heather instructed.

Courtney dialled the number and then someone answered her on the next line.

Hello?

Hey, this is Courtney. Remember, we attend class 1 together.

Oh, yeah, I know you. What’s up?

Hey, this is rude but I’m gonna ask you anyway. Do you have a girlfriend?

Oh, um, no, I’m single. Why?

Yeah? Okay, look, we’re going to attend the second mass today and Taylor will drive us.

What do you mean?

Um, Taylor is a protestant so she’s not going to join us inside the church instead she’ll go to the Spencer’s Baptist Church, alone.

Yes, so?

Kent! I’m calling because I want you to join her!

Um, okay?

Nice! Thanks Kent. Wait for Taylor in front of the church. She’ll be there at 30. Bye! Courtney hang up on Kent.

“We’re all set Heath, Kent said yes!” Courtney informed Heather.

“That’s great threatening Court, inform Paddy!” Heather commanded. Their plan is falling into place like they wanted to. It’s time to repay Taylor for playing a matchmaker all the time.

**

Kent was at his bedroom when Courtney called. He was a bit whipped for what had just happened. A girl commanded him what to do and all he could say is ‘Okay’. He doesn’t even know how to argue. He is at his parents’ house because they living a Sunday rule. He immediately went to shower and slip his shirt and jeans on. He sprayed a little cologne, grabs his keys, wallet and bolted out of the house before his parents could stop him. He is going to church with Taylor. That’s a good start for the two of them.

**

Taylor pulled off at the front of the cathedral. She feels confident because she did not know she would be expert in the town’s drive for only a week staying at Spencer. She is not much of a catholic mind because she is a Baptist but still she’ll be joining her friends inside the church.

“It’s okay Tay. We’ll be alright. We’ll just take a cab after the mass and you should go to Spencer’s Baptist Church.” Paddy stated. She too knows what Courtney and Heather’s plan.

“Oh, um, are you sure?” Taylor asked looking to Paddy, Heather and Courtney simultaneously.

“We’ll be fine. Go ahead. You’ll be late.” They assured.

“Okay, see you later.” Taylor waved goodbye and starts her way to the Baptist church in town.

The church was a 15 minute drive. She parked her Ford Fiesta and walk in front of the church door when he saw Kent’s waiting outside.

Oh my gosh, what is he doing here? Don’t tell me, I’m going to see him here dating with his girlfriend. Taylor thought. She went uneasy when Kent flashed a smile. Taylor curved a little smile and made her way inside the church and leave Kent behind.

“Hey, I waited for you. You just can’t leave me here.” Kent followed her inside.

“What?” Taylor asked under her breath. She now found a vacant seat. Kent sat beside her. “Why are you waiting for me? Where’s your girlfriend?”

“What girlfriend?” Kent asked. Taylor could feel Kent tries to psycho her. She just rolled her eyeballs to answer him.

“You look annoyed.” Kent said. It is more like a statement than a question.

“I am annoyed.” Taylor answered back. She couldn’t concentrate on what the Pastor’s preaching with Kent beside him. Aside from the fact that Kent is looking handsome with his black shirt and Taylor could smell his masculine cologne.

“Why?” Kent asked. He hasn’t had any idea why Taylor is treating him coldly while she just blog him the other day sweetly.

“You really have no idea?” Taylor sounds pissed. She continued when Kent did not reply. “You are flirting even though you have a girlfriend.”

“What? I don’t have. Why did you say that?” Kent defended under his breath.

“I saw you yesterday. You two look sweet.” Taylor stated.

“What? What time did you see us?” Kent asked.

“What? Around 4 I think.” Taylor answered. It looks like Kent doesn’t have any idea of what she’s talking about.

“Oh!” confusion in Kent’s face shifted to mischievous grin. So you’re stalking me ha? He thought but chooses not to say it loud.

“What?” Taylor sweats in this mid-October weather. Kent is grinning like hell and it distracts her.

Kent ignored Taylor and focused on the worship service. Taylor felt uneasy for the sudden change of Kent’s reaction. They remained silent until the service has ended.

Taylor bolted out of the church and Kent called up for her. “Taylor! She’s my sister.”

Taylor stopped and faced Kent. She doesn’t know what he is talking about. He walks closer to Taylor. “The girl yesterday, she is my sister.”

“Oh?” Taylor was a bit caught off guard. This was the most embarrassing moment ever.

“And I’ve read your blog.” Kent winked. Taylor was surprised and curved her mouth to a big O in shocked. She immediately turned her back and walk straight to her car.

Oh my gosh, oh my gosh Taylor’s heart is beating so fast. She did not even notice Kent was right beside her again.

Taylor covered her face for embarrassment. She is so busted. “Hey, that wasn’t you!” She denied and opens her car but Kent stopped her.

“Liar!” Kent grinned. “Don’t worry, I had fun reading it especially the ‘Taylor’s can’t? or Taylor’s Kent’ I’m not sure.”

“Oh my gosh Kent. Stop it Okay.” Taylor covered her ears. She felt too embarrassed. How on earth did Kent found her blog? Why did I even blog him? What was I thinking?

“Okay2x.” Kent said and throws his hands in the air in defence. “I’ll drop it. But in one condition.”

“You are not going to compensate that I should go out with you, are you?” Taylor guesses what Kent condition like in the movie is or in the books she read.

“No, of course not, that’s so cliché.” Kent disagreed. “Teach me how to dougie.”

“Seriously?” Taylor laughed. It was the first time she felt light when Kent’s around. It feels great. “But I don’t know how to dougie.”

Kent laughed. “If you don’t want to teach me, I leave no choice but to ask you to buy me a pizza because I’m starving.”

“I guess pizza is fine.” Taylor smiled. “Hop in.” Taylor tilted her head to the passenger’s door.

“Oh? Take a ride with me.” Kent offered.

“What? I just can’t leave it here.” Taylor argued.

“Courtney could drive?” Kent asked.

“Yeah, why?” Taylor replied. Courtney could drive but she has no sense of direction. Last time she asked Courtney for a direction, she ended up turning the wrong way.

Kent did not answer her but grab his phone. He pushed some buttons and put the phone back to his pocket. “Just leave the key at guard here and Courtney will take care of your car.”

“What? Why on earth you have Courtney’s number?” Taylor tried to argue but Kent grabs the key in her hand and leaves it to the guard. He instructed Courtney what to do and he asked the guard nicely and luckily he said yes.

“What if..” Taylor muttered but Kent cut her off. “Trust me.”

Kent holds Taylor’s hand and escorted her to his car. “Come on, I’m starving.”

Taylor smiled. Kent is so childish. If the world ends today, all his concern is only to feed his growling tummy.

“So where would I treat you a pizza? Do you guys have Greenwich?” Taylor asked.

“What the hell is Greenwich? Here, we call it Pizza hut.” Kent joked.

Kent drives to the place he calls Pizza hut. No wonder Kent likes it there because you could get your order right away. It is really design for starving people. Taylor likes watching Kent enjoying his mean. She never feels so comfortable with this guy. She was glad the truth unveiled. Kent is single.

**

The mass has ended but still no sign of Neil or James inside the church. As the three girls went out of the church Courtney’s iPhone vibrates. Kent just sent her a message.

Hey, it’s Kent. Favor please? Taylor will take a ride with and please pick up her car here. We left the keys at the guard here. Thanks.

Courtney grinned. “Mission accomplished guys.”

“Yeah right.” Paddy reached Courtney’s hand for a high five.

“Good job angels.” Heather laughed.

“We’ll pick up Tay’s car because she’ll be riding with Kent.” Courtney informed Paddy and Heather.

“That’s great. I always knew the spaces between her fingers are right where Kent’s fit perfectly.” Heather stated.

“What the? Since when you listen to Owl city Heath?” Paddy asked.

“Tyler is a fan of Owl city. He thinks it was embarrassing when I knew but I find it cute.” Heather explained.

Paddy and Courtney just look at each other and laughed. “Come on. Since we have a car, I’ll drive.” Courtney said.

“Hell-yeah, let’s go eat.” Paddy suggested.

They waited for a cab and then made their way to Baptist church where Taylor’s car parked. Courtney took the courage to drive.

“It’s the first time in a row. Taylor never let anyone drive her Herby.” Heather said. Herby is Taylor’s car nickname.

“I think I’m going to like Kent.” Courtney thinks that if it wasn’t for Kent, she would never drive Herby ever.

“You’re not gonna be needing Herby Court, Neil will drive you.” Paddy teased.

The three girls made it to Taylor’s car but there’s no sign of Kent or Taylor. Maybe they were already gone somewhere.

“So where are we going?” Courtney asked. She positioned herself in the driver seat, Heather in the passenger’s seat and Paddy at the back seat.

“Are you sure you know the way Court?” Heather doesn’t really trust Courtney’s sense of direction.

“We’ll alright Heath. Don’t worry.” Courtney assured.

“Right! I’m starving, come on.” Paddy rushed.

Courtney proves to Heather that she knew the direction. After a couple of minutes Courtney pulled off in front of Jo’s arcade where Paddy suggested. She would admit, she went nervous every time she saw intersections. Good thing Paddy have been to Jo’s arcade and did most of the tour guide job. They just couldn’t afford to be lost in the woods or get stranded without Taylor. The adventures wouldn’t just start if only one is missing. TEAM they say.

Chapter 7: Boys Boys Boys

It is Monday morning and Neil was up for an early training. Today is the opening of their school meet where they would compete to different schools in different sports. Since Neil is a member of Spencer’s football team, they should need to train hard because they would have their first game this afternoon against Cormwell Academy. Their goal is to defend their title as a champion last year.

After a 2-hour training, Neil made his way to the dorm, he decided to take shower in his room instead to the football boys locker room. He still looks a mess but he stopped by to Courtney’s room to invite her to watch him later. He’s a wreck but he couldn’t wait to see Courtney.

He made his way to a familiar corridor where he picked up Courtney before on their first date. He knocks twice when someone opened the door. It was her roommate Heather wearing school uniform, it was passed 7 am and probably they will be ready for school any minute now.

“Hey superstar!” Heather greeted him. Neil smiled and Heather call for Courtney before he could speak. “Court, look who’s here.”

“Thanks!” Neil mouthed to Heather who winked and Courtney immediately appeared in front of the door.

“Hey Neil! What’s up?” Courtney greeted. She too wears her uniform but there’s a towel rolled up in her hair. She immediately removed it when she saw Neil is looking at it strangely.

“Hey! I have a game later and I want you to be there.” Neil invited her.

“yeah? What time?” Courtney asked.

“Around 2pm. I want to see you cheering for me.” Neil commanded. He showed his flirty smile.

“Oh, sure no problem! But go take a shower first. You really smell bad.” Courtney teased.

“what? No, this is sexy.” Neil flirted.

“No, seriously.” Courtney tries to hide her laugh.

“Who’s stinking ha? Tell me.” Neil started to snuggle Courtney.

“Stop, go away.” Courtney giggled.

Neil released Courtney and says “Ayt, see you later Court.” He kissed Courtney’s cheek and she went blushed. He waved goodbye and walked away.

“Good luck.” Courtney called up.

Neil turned his head and smiled. He made his way to his room which is in the next floor. He’s not in a mood to go to school. He is confident Spencer won’t kick him out for ditching classes because they owe Neil big time for let winning the school last year. They couldn’t afford to lose the best goalie of all time.

**

Tyler is still lying in his bed. He doesn’t feel to attend classes today. He thinks that no sane teacher would be attending classes today because it is the opening of their school meet. He is quite tired because he slept late last night trying to finish his composition. He is going to join the battle bands this year.

He is too lazy to get up on his bed. His roommate was out for an early training and his room has a strange silence that is a perfect place to sleep whole day. His description of his room ruined when his roommate entered their room and drop his duffel bag on the floor banging and close the door banging as well.

“What the hell man!” Tyler said annoyed. He covered his ears with his pillow.

“You are supposed to be downstairs now, eating breakfast!” Neil said. “Where have you been last night? I did not hear you entered the room,”

“Because, I don’t want to wake you like you are doing to me right now.” Tyler replied. Neil and Tyler were not best friends like other roommates but they get along with each other and could ride in each flow.

“Band?” Neil guessed the answer to his question that Tyler did not answer. Tyler again did not reply.

Neil did not bother him again. He heard Neil went to the bathroom to take shower. After a couple of minutes, Neil went out of the bathroom with only a towel covering his body.

“Ok, you won!” Tyler said as he get up to his bed and go the bathroom. When he passed Neil, Neil hit him a towel in his head. “aw!”

After he went out of the bathroom, Neil is already on his clothes and eyes on his PSP. He is not again going to class because he is not in Spencer’s uniform.

“You’re skipping class again?” Tyler asked as he grabs his guitar and started plucking the chords.

“I am excuse to attend class mate.” Neil replied still not taking his eyes off his little toy in hand.

“Yeah right! Why you seem so weird?” Tyler asked as he noticed Neil is joking around.

“What?” Neil asked this time looking away from his PSP to Tyler.

“You know what I mean mate, is this another random Spencer girls?”

“It’s cool dude, I’m dating Courtney. You know her? from Cali.” Neil said. His eyes back to the toy in his hand. “She has three friends who are really good looking as well; you should date one of them so we could double date sometime.” He joked.

“Shut up? Since when you dated Courtney?” Tyler asked.

“What? You know her? just last Saturday. She’s hot mate” Neil said. “I thought all Americans kissed on a first date but her.”

“I am dating Heather, her blonde friend.” Tyler said, still playing his guitar.

“Yeah? What about her? Did she let you taste her provocative lips?” Neil asked. The topic gets interesting in terms of girls.

“She didn’t on the first but she gave in.” Tyler grinned. “I thought all Americans were easy to get, man, I had a hard time trying to get to this girl.”

“I guess, British guys get wrong…” Neil laughed. “You know Taylor and Paddy? They seem very nice.”

“Yeah, Taylor was like the guy of the group. They went to Inco’s last time and she’s the only one on jeans, I just hope she is totally girl mate.” Tyler quipped.

“No way man? I think she’s totally a chic. Just a conservative little American.” Neil defended Taylor.

“Speaking of little, Paddy is little.” Tyler laughed.

Neil laughed out loud. “Shit man, I thought I’m just tall tall.”

“Never underestimate Paddy; she is the first to date a Spencer boy, James Martin.” Tyler defended Paddy.

“That math geek from 8th grade?” Neil cracked.

“What? Until now mate, and he’s really good at football man. I couldn’t find a reason why he’s not on your team.”

“I don’t know. Anyway, I invited Courtney to watch my game later. Maybe her three friends will be there and your chic.” Neil changed the subject.

Tyler phone rang and his ex-girlfriend, Carmie is calling him. “Shit man, it’s Carmie.”

“Shit, you’re two-timing Heath?” Neil exclaimed. “They are new here mate, be nice.”

Tyler hit Neil a pillow. “No, I don’t know why she’s calling.”

Tyler did not answer the phone call and it went to a voice mail.

Hey Ty, Is it true? You’re dating one of the transfers from California? I heard they’ve been kicked out, that’s why they’re here in Spencer. Call me back if it’s true. Bye Carmie’s voice filled the room.

“Looks like, they’re gonna get in trouble for having a pretty face eh?” Neil stated. “Plus hot bod.”

“What about Courtney? For sure she’ll be the head of the headlines after they knew the Spencer’s Goalie is dating her. And Carmie is a bitch. She just couldn’t move on and couldn’t lick better. I’m done with her.” Tyler said.

He dumped Carmie two weeks before he met Heather. Everyone knows that they were only playing with each other, no serious relationship. It was just getting drunk and getting laid after. Tyler does not take advantage with Carmie. He was just being a nice guy for giving what girls want from him.

“Tell me about it, I used to date her Ty. She got lice that time. It’s gross!” Neil said. “I’ve always wanted to tell you but you’re madly in love with her.” He teased. Tyler ears turned red.

“Shut up!” Tyler ignored Neil and played the song he wrote for Heather. It’s called Ultraviolet. He’s going to play it in front of the crowd on the battle of the bands by the end of the week. He couldn’t wait to let Heather hear his song for her.

**

James class in the morning has ended. Class won’t resume until tomorrow because the school will be hosting the school meet. He snatched his phone from his backpack and dialled Paddy’s number.

“Hey, no class this afternoon. Where you guys heading?” James asked over the phone. He’s heading to his locker.

“Hey James, we’re going to watch football. Neil will be playing.” Paddy answered back.

Is Paddy friends with Neil, Neil Orsino the Goalie? James thought. There’s a little burp in his stomach. He feels uncomfortable.

“Oh, Okay. I did not know you’re a fan of football.” James sounds sarcastic.

“You have no idea. See you at lunch.” Paddy hang up on him.

James first love was football but he did not tried out for the football team because his father won’t allow him. Aside from the fact that he has asthma, his father thinks that there’s no footballer succeed in life but a Lawyer or a Physician.

The reason why he called Paddy to ask her to watch football but looks like Neil Orsino made her watch it. He never felt so jealous before.

The four girls meet him up at the cafeteria at lunch. Paddy greeted him with her toothy smile. He did not think of what he’s doing but the next thing he knew, he kissed Paddy. When he looked at her, Paddy turned very pink and her friends looked at them in horror but then James could see Taylor biting her lips trying to stop her from laughing.

“What was that for?” Paddy asked shyly. James finds himself a seat beside Paddy.

“I miss you.” James flirted and took a big bite of his apple. “How do you know Neil? Is that Neil Orsino that I know?”

“Are you two friends? He’s dating Courtney.” Paddy exclaimed and point to Courtney.

“No, I did not. It was just an apology breakfast.” Courtney denied.

“Shut up. It’s the same.” Paddy laughed.

Good thing about these girls, they threw shits at each other but no one gets offended. James smiled at the thought. Neil is for Courtney and him for Paddy.

“No, not really.” James interrupted. He is not friends with Neil. Neil is just famous in Spencer. James was hoping before that Neil would be his teammates but it never happened.

“Good luck with Neil. If he would search for you in the crowd across the field, you must really be special.” James advised to Courtney.

“Neil appeared in our door this morning, fresh from practice. He stopped by to invite Court.” Heather said. “Does Court should feel special?”

“I said, if he would search for you from across the field. You must be really special.” James repeated his sentence. Everybody laughed.

“How’d you know?” Taylor voice echoed. “Did he ever do that to anyone?”

“I would do the same if I live vicariously through him.” James joked.

“You’re sweet!” Paddy punched his shoulder.

“That’s corny James!” Taylor exclaimed.

“I miss you too Tay.” James said ironically.

After lunch the girls headed to their dorms to change clothes and James excused himself to go to the restroom. He told the girls to meet them up at the grandstand in 30. He went to his dad’s office to take a nap. He’s not planning to change his school uniform since he doesn’t want to go home yet.

As he passed the school corridors he heard Kent Alter voice filled the hallway. Maybe he’s bragging about his expertise in online gaming. He shut up when he saw James coming and made his way towards James.

“James! Where you heading?” Kent greeted James.

“What’s up man?” James patted Kent shoulder for a bromance. They’ve been together since they were a kid because their families are really good friends. Before, they would hang out in their houses but nowadays, small talk is enough since Kent found his group of friends and James is contended of being a loner.

“See you later mates!” Kent said his goodbyes to his friends and turns to James. “so you’re dating the girl from Cali?”

“Could we not tell anyone?” James said seriously.

“Oh! Why? Everyone knows in school man.” Kent said frowning.

“I’m kidding mate. She’s gorgeous, I know.” James said. They’re now heading to his dad’s office. Kent knows about this but did not brag to anyone like James did. “So why are you here?”

“I’m going to see Uncle Jeff.” Kent grinned. Jeff is James dad. As they entered the provost office, Kent threw himself in the sofa. He’s feeling at home.

“What’s up boys?” James dad greeted them.

“Hi dad.”

“Hey Uncle Jeff.” Kent greeted. They were not blood related but Kent feels comfortable calling James dad as Uncle.

“What can I do with you Kent? How are your mom and dad?”

“They’re fine. My sister Kat visited me here last time.” Kent stated. “Anyway, I and James are in love with two best friends, I really need your opinion about double dating or whatever, what do you think Uncle?” Kent is grinning like an idiot.

James who’s eyes on magazine his reading lifted his head and says “What? You’re in love with whom?”

“So who are these girls, boys?” Jeff asked.

“So are we now talking about girls, dad?” James mocked.

“Mine is Taylor Strong.” Kent said.

“What? Since when? Taylor never mentioned that one. I’m like eating lunch with them for two weeks.” James said frowning.

“What? Maybe, she’s not a talker but a writer. She blog about me.” Kent said confidently.

“She what?” James exclaimed.

“I said, she wrote something about me in her blog. She thinks I’m hot.” Kent grinned.

“You’re vain. You like her?” James said calmly.

“From the very first day. All she had to do is to remind me.” Kent sang the words. They completely forgot that James’ dad was there listening.

“Cheesy. She’s now my friend Kent. Don’t play with her.” James sounds protective.

“Woah! I’m afraid.” Kent throws his both arms in air like a criminal surrendering to cops. “Chill man. She’s beautiful. I’m not playing with her.”

“So these girls are from California, right?” Jeff butted in. “I believe I met them a couple of weeks ago. They seem very nice and all good looking.”

“You have great taste, Uncle!” Kent agreed.

James never thought his dad would be this cool. It really pays to be a good boy sometimes. He just curved a smile. “I want to try out for football, dad, to add up for my Oxford application.”

“Yeah, you’re really good James. You could help the team win.” Kent agreed.

His dad hesitates for a moment. James feels light after spilling it out. He never opens up the football thing until he knows Paddy likes football.

“Alright, but see the doc first. If the doc says okay, it’s okay then.” Jeff is talking about James asthma.

“Yeah dad?” James couldn’t hide his excitement. He went to hug his dad. “I love you dad!”

“Alright alright. I know, you try to impress Ms. Mueller yeh? But son, always remember this, no one can resist the Martin’s charm.” Jeff joked.

The boys laughed. “That’s right Uncle! You’re the coolest provost ever.” Kent gets up of the sofa and started dancing. He got the moves like Jagger.

James started to dance as well. He felt victorious.

“Alright alright. That’s enough. If you’ll excuse me, I have something to do.” Jeff said and James went to kiss his dad’s cheek.

“Kent, we’ll watch football. Taylor will be there.” James changed the subject. Kent got easily bored watching football but if he’ll say yes, maybe Taylor seems so special. That’s how he’ll know he’s not playing with Taylor.

Kent hesitates for a moment and says “Not a fan of football but come on.” Kent tilted his head out of the door. “See you later Uncle Jeff.”

“Bye dad!” James exited the door. Before, freedom ain’t nothing but missing him but now he made things happened. If he chose to be a rebel kid before, his dad wouldn’t trust him anymore but today, it really pays to be a good boy. His dad trusts him. He has a nice, pretty, and sweet girlfriend. He has friends and a sister he never had. He feels like a protective brother when Kent started to talk about Taylor and the most awesome is that he’s going to play football. Not today, but sooner.

**

Kent never likes football but he is now sitting in the toon waiting for the game to start. Paddy, Heather and Courtney are already there looking great without their Spencer’s uniform. Taylor’s not there yet and the crowd isn’t that great. They cheering and yelling even though the game hasn’t started yet especially the Cormwell students. Fan girls could be annoying sometimes.

Kent grabbed his PSP from his backpack and started clicking buttons. He’d rather play computer games than watching how the ball being kick from across the field. Before the PSP could snatch his soul inside the little toy, James elbowed him.

“What?” Kent muttered still eyes on screen. James did not answer but still elbowing him. This time he looked up from his PSP and looked to James then turns his head to where James pointing his lips. It was Taylor who’s sipping from her coke and popcorn in her hand. Even the sun is jealous of the way she shines from the crowd.

Kent turned off his PSP and says “Hey!” He did not even notice that his hands are busy keeping his PSP to his bag but still eyes on Taylor.

Taylor passed him and offered her popcorn to her friends then she went back to find her seat beside Kent.

“Hey, what are you doing here?” Taylor asked but her eyes glued to the field. The game had just started. When Kent did not answer because he’s still staring at Taylor’s face, Taylor shifted her head towards him. “What?”

Kent smiled and says “Nothing.”

Taylor brushed her hands through Kent’s face and turned her eyes again to the game.

“What was that for?” Kent pouted like a baby. Taylor did not answer but Kent saw she curved her lips a smile.

Kent would look at Taylor of the way she cursed when the Spencer’s shot block by the Cormwell goalie or the way she’s about to jump when the Spencer’s team scored. He knows that these girls were a football fan. They knew the basic rules, the reason why they enjoyed football unlike Kent who doesn’t even know what the hell is offside or how could you get a throw in.

“You don’t like football, do you?” Taylor asked during half break.

“What? No, not really.” Kent replied. He thought Taylor wouldn’t pay him attention since the game started.

“So, what sport do you like?” Taylor tries to start a good conversation.

“Basketball. The scoring is more exciting than football.” Kent replied. “You? You play any sport back in L.A?”

“I’m not from LA. I’m from Sacramento, the ever boring town in the world.” Taylor rolled her eyeballs. “and we play football.”

“What? You four?” Kent asked surprisingly.

“Except Courtney. But it’s not like a career. We played during times like this. Some school tournament or whatever.” Taylor explained.

“If that’s how you get your hotbod then I won’t contradict. I’ll support you with your football career.” Kent winked.

Before Taylor could say anything, Kent’s mates stop and stare in front of them and started teasing him. “So Kent, is she the one you’re talking about?”

Kent stands up and hit one of his mates hard in the head. “Shut up man. Go away!” He felt embarrassed. Good thing his mates leave them alone and go away without a word. He brags about Taylor this morning to his friends. It’s not that he’s rude but boys really talk about girls. That’s the reality.

Maybe Taylor would think that he’s talking about her behind her back which is true but maybe she could take it a wrong way. “They’re kidding.” Kent explained himself.

“You’re talking about me to your friends?” Taylor asked frowning.

“Go Neil!” James roared that Kent is sure that James did that to divert Taylor’s attention.

“Go Neil!” Courtney, Paddy, Heather echoed.

Kent was saved by the cheers and yells he once gets annoyed at first. He leaned his body closer to Taylor that their shoulders touch each other. Kent let it be since Taylor did not move. The second half had started and then Taylor focused again her attention to the game.

Moment by moment, Kent tried hard to grab Taylor’s attention. He wants to make sure Taylor’s not mad at him. He would get popcorn from her hand or move uneasy to make Taylor looked at him but still Taylor’s not buying it. Then Kent threw popcorn on Taylor’s face. This time it works because Taylor turned to him with a horror on her face and her mouthed curved in a big O.

Kent throws popcorn to Taylor’s face again and laughed but Taylor pulled Kent’s hair.

“AW! Aw!” Kent complained. “Taylor, stop!”

“If you’re not that cute, I’m going to kill you.” Taylor muttered.

“What?” Kent’s not sure of what Taylor had said but pulled her head to his shoulder and started to cuddle her. “You can’t be mad at me, I know.” Taylor pulled away from Kent’s cuddle and slap Kent’s face lightly.

Kent feels better. Now, he knew Taylor’s not mad at him. Football is not that bad at all. Kent enjoyed football for the first time and the Spencer’s team is actually winning. He’s never been proud of his school before but now he’s actually cheering. This fever Taylor and her friends had is contagious.

“Neil looks really pissed on the pitch. Relax Neil!” Kent heard Taylor shouted to her friends.

“Yeah, I like it.” Courtney shouted back.

“The butt, the butt is so hot.” Paddy cheered.

Kent saw Heather pushed Paddy lightly “fan-crapping-tastic.” She yelled.

Any moment now and the referee would finally blow his final whistle. It’s very intense game, 5-3 in favour of Spencer school. Neil is probably disappointed with himself for the 3 balls he let in. But who cares, they won.

Kent saw Neil clapping his hands after the final whistle has blown. He immediately search for the crowd and made his way towards their spot. He’s not quite sure why Neil is coming to the sea of people instead of going to their locker rooms.

Kent could see that many girls’ eyes lighted as Neil passed through them but his arms settled on Courtney’s. He just hugs Courtney after winning a match in the middle of the crowd. Courtney must be really special.

“Oh, Congratulations Neil.” Kent heard Courtney said after Neil released her from a tight hug.

“You’re really good Neil, you’re awesome out there.” Taylor said.

“Thanks.” Neil mouthed to Taylor and mess her hair.

“Congrats mate!” Kent sends his congratulations to Neil. “James would like to try out for your team.” Kent informed him.

“Yeah? That’s awesome mate!” Neil turned to James. “I am inviting you guys to our after game party later. See you later.” He planted a kiss on Courtney’s cheek that turned pink.

They went out of the grandstand and Kent and James walk the girls to their dorms. James went home to change for the after party as well as Kent who is still in his uniform. This is going to be great.

**

Tyler and his band are opening at Inco’s tonight. He is excited to play in front of the crowd. The battle of the bands is not on until Friday but the Inco’s invited them to play. Before he leaves for Inco’s, he stopped by to Heather’s room and when she opens the door, she’s dress like she’s going out or something.

“Hey! You’re going somewhere?” Tyler asked. He’s holding a guitar in his left hand.

“Yeah, to Inco’s maybe.” Heather replied. “Neil Orsino invited us for their after game party. They won anyway.”

“That’s great, we’ll be playing there. I wrote ‘something something’ for you. You want a little sneak preview?” Tyler grinned.

“For me?” Heather ran out of words.

“Oh yeah!” Tyler holds his breathe and started to sing.

Heather is beautiful. It’s true. ‘Cause she got the eyes of blue. One day I tried to kiss you and you said oh n-n-no.

“You’re an idiot.”

“You love me.” Tyler flirted. “See you later. Me, you, that dress.”

Tyler waved goodbye and went to the bar. When he arrived there, there’s already a band playing. Most of the Spencer’s students were already there. Inco’s is the best hang out place of the Spencer fellas and it is a greater % that the after game party will be there.

He went to the backstage and meets his band mate there. Then he saw the football team entered the bar. He dialled Neil’s number.

“Hey man. Congrats on the result. And thanks for inviting Heather here. I’ll be playing tonight.” Tyler said over the phone and waves his hand to Neil who’s searching for him. He hang up and Neil nod his head.

After the band finished one song, Tyler saw Heather and the gang entered Inco’s. Paddy with James and Courtney who ran to meet Neil, and the one that surprises Tyler is that Kent is with Taylor. Kent never hangs out here but looks like his going to hear Tyler singing.

“Where’s your guy? Who’s your singer?” the coordinator asked him.

“He’s right behind you.” Tyler told him.

“You’re on.” The coordinator said on cue.

“You guys good?” He asked his band mates as they nodded.

Tyler step out of the stage and saw Heather clapping her hands for him.

“So, my name is Tyler Williams.” Tyler introduced. “I hope this doesn’t make anyone too uncomfortable… but I’m completely naked under these clothes.”

The crowd clap their hands. He saw Heather giggles.

“This song called Ultraviolet. This for someone I cared about.”

“Ready?” He mouthed to his band mates and he started to strum his guitar and the rock ’n rolling sound filled the room. The crowd went to the dance floor to dance but Heather remained focused.

She’s a wave and she is breaking, she’s a problem to solve and in that circle she’s making I will always revolve… and on her sight these eyes depend invisible and indivisible… That fire you ignited good, bad and undecided burns when I stand beside it your light is ultraviolet visions so insane travel unravelling through my brain cold when I am denied it your light is ultraviolet, Ultraviolet…

Now is a phase and it’s changing, It’s rotating us all… thought we’re safe but we’re dangling and it’s too far to survive the fall and this I know it will not bend…Invisible and indivisible

That fire you ignited

Good, Bad and undecided

Burns when I stand beside it

Your light is ultraviolet

Visions so insane

Travel unraveling through my brain

Cold when I am denied it

Your light is ultraviolet, Ultraviolet!

The song has ended and Tyler went down to see Heather. “Hey!”

“You’re really good.” Heather complimented.

“Thanks, and you’re really pretty.” Tyler winked and grabbed a drink. Neil and Courtney gathered to their table. James and Paddy are playing foosball and Kent is teaching Taylor how to play pool.

“Hey rockstar!” Neil greeted Tyler. He leaves Courtney to the table and joined Tyler to get drinks.

“Congratulations Goalie.” Tyler congratulates his roommate. Kent and James joined them at stool bar. The four girls left by their respective boyfriends at the table.

“We have curfews so let’s party while we’re here!” Neil yelled. “There so many reason why to party, first we won of course, second, Tyler the rock star rocked the house, plus we have a gorgeous girlfriends, Kent welcome to Inco’s cuz I know you never been here, and James finally will join the football team. Report to training tomorrow, let’s see what you’ve got.”

“Shit? What?” James exclaimed.

“You heard me; don’t make me say it again.” Neil grinned. He’s the team captain and he knows James got the moves; all he has to do is to agree he’s joining the team.

“Never thought, it would be nice here.” Kent butted in.

Tyler gave them each a bottle of drinks. “Cheers man!”

The four boys tossed for the victory they feel and the new friendship that formed. “Cheers!” Their voice echoed and laughter’s filled the room.

Boys, boys, boys.. always be boys. They smoke and fly, drink and drive, have fun not only on a Saturday night but also to Monday night with their pretty girlfriends aside and when the girlfriends are not around ‘it’s all about the bromance, not the romance.’

Chapter 8: Damsel's in distressess

Another week had passed. Taylor, Courtney, Heather, and Paddy were drowned with school works since the term exams are fast approaching before Christmas vacation. Their last hang out was the after game party at Inco’s. They had so much fun. James drove Paddy back to the dorm, just right on time before their curfew. Courtney drove Neil’s rover since Neil was a little drunk. Tyler drove Heather as well and Kent walked Taylor to her car. It was the night to remember since it was the first time that the girls were hanging out with their boyfriends.

It is Saturday morning, Heather and Courtney received an invitation to a beach party from Carmie during breakfast. It’s strange that after the party at Inco’s, they are trending in Spencer’s gossips and many girls want to be friends with them. Bitches

“This is the annual beach party for Spencer girls at the shore before the snow starts to drop.” Carmie explained. “And boys are not allowed” she winked.

“We will tell Paddy and Taylor and then we’ll decide if we’ll go since we’re not familiar to the place.” Heather answered politely. Taylor and Paddy are sleeping still in their bedroom since they were out last night for calculus. Yes, on a Friday night. Weird

“Oh I forgot, I tell you the way down to the beach.” Carmie instructed. “and here’s my number, call me if you’re having trouble. See you there!”

“Ayt!” Courtney smiled.

When Carmie is out of sight Heather turned to Courtney. “We should go or not?”

“I don’t know, Taylor will drive anyway and I think it’s time to loosen up. You know, we haven’t gone out like really out just us four alone.” Courtney said. “And I miss the shore.”

Back in California, they go to beach in a while to watch hot surfers or to ‘bay watch’ as Paddy and Taylor call it. Going to beach right now is like going home. They miss home.

“I have a bad feeling to this Carmie girl.” Heather spitted out. It’s weird that Carmie is talking to them and it creeps her out.

“Why?” Courtney asked. “She seems nice to invite us.”

Taylor and Paddy came to sight. Again, they’re always late for breakfast. Neil, Tyler, and Kent were out of the dorm first hour in the morning. They said they’ll be going home.

“What’s up?” Taylor greeted. She seated beside Heath with her tray of food.

“Are you ready for a beach party?” Courtney asked. “Carmie invited us.”

“Yeah? I mean why?” Taylor asked raising her eyebrows. She too doesn’t trust Carmie.

“She has bangs, dude. I have a bad feeling to those who are wearing bangs.” Taylor added as she tossed bread to her mouth.

“Shut up, Taylor! You have bangs!” Paddy barked.

“I don’t have! And she has a Jesse J bangs. I don’t like it!” Taylor justified and gave a small laugh.

“I think I’m on. We’re on our third week here but we haven’t gone to explore this town.” Paddy said ignoring Taylor’s bad impression to Carmie’s bangs.

“Yeah Tay! I’ll bring my camera to create memories.” Courtney agreed. “How about you Heath?” She turned to Heather.

“I don’t know. Taylor will drive anyway.” Heather replied. “and I’m not in the mood to study either.”

“You know the way?” Taylor asked. Even she doesn’t want to go, as she has a choice. She doesn’t trust Courtney’s sense of direction. “I can smell adventure.” They looked each other and laughed.

“Right! It’s on south west part, Brighton, an hour drive and bring food, Carmie said.” Courtney informed.

“Are you sure?” Paddy and Taylor asked in unison then they laughed knowing they’re thinking the same thing. Courtney’s sense of direction sucks.

After the girls were dressed right for a beach party, in Cali they would wear bikini but in England they are on sweaters and jeans for November-weather. They are now settled on Taylor’s Ford Fiesta.

Taylor stops at the nearest gas station and the three girls grab some chips and drinks at the shop. Taylor pays for the full tank since it is a long drive.

“Buckle up!” Taylor commanded as she pulled out of the gas station’s drive. She puts the stereo on and they all sing and dance on the beats. Courtney’s busy capturing memories. Taylor is pretty sure it’ll be uploaded first thing tomorrow in her facebook. Their first road trip in England.

As Taylor drives, she noticed how Paddy’s eyes glow every time she saw how beautiful the colour of the trees is. It is almost winter but the grasses on the fields are bright green. Among the girls, Paddy is the most environmental friendly and she appreciates every creature in the earth. Among us, maybe she’s the most grateful why our parents send them to this town and not to the city.

Heather is visible in Taylor’s rear view mirror. She is eating chips and deep in her thoughts. She can be a bit moody sometimes. Her lips pouted and if Tyler was there, he is probably seduced by Heather’s little mole right in her lips.

Taylor’s eyes on the road and as she passed the long bridge, she can sense that they are almost near. “I think we’re near. Call Carmie.”

Heather checks her phone and says “There’s no signal.”

“Mine either.” Courtney said. She set aside first her camera and checks her phone.

“Ops! I think we’re here! I can see the beach!” Paddy said excitedly.

“Are you sure it’s the south west?” Taylor asked when they finally reach the shore but no sign of any Spencer girls.

They try to call Carmie but no one of them got a signal. They looked around and no house or cottages near the shore. They want to ask for help but not a single citizen is passing.

“I think we’re a little early.” Paddy said trying to be optimist. “Come let’s enjoy the beach for a moment. Come on. Isn’t this place awesome?”

Courtney followed her and took some pictures. Taylor and Heather joined them and enjoy the scene for a while but when minutes had passed and still no sign of any Spencer girls, Taylor got the feeling they’ve been punk’d like in TV show Ashton Kutcher’s hosting.

The place is so quiet. The only sound you’ll hear is the ocean sound and wiizzling of the wind. The sun is out and sky is blue. You can see birds flying freely across the ocean and mountains. It is a picture perfect scene for the four girls who wanted nothing but adventures.

“Remember the place where one direction shoots their ‘what makes you beautiful’ music video?” Courtney said. She is a fan for sure. She knows every detail of the boy band.

“Yeah, Court! But that one was near at the coastal road. This place got trees, yeh knerr.” Paddy objected trying to mimic British accent.

“Shut the fuck up.” Courtney too mimics British accent.

“I think they’re ditching us.” Taylor said after they got tired running the shore and danced under the sun like in some kind of feminine wash commercial.

She started walking back to her car. She checks her watch and it’s past twelve. “I’m going to grab some food.”

The three girls followed. As they walk to the car, they noticed they were gone for a long walk. Courtney is still enjoying snapping photos. Paddy and Heather enjoyed being her model like they’re on a photo shoot or something.

Taylor eyes dilated to see the Ford Fiesta’s tire.

“Is that tire supposed to look like that?” She said to grab her three friends’ attention.

“Oh my god, it’s a flat tire.” Heather exclaimed.

“Shit!” Taylor cursed and ran towards the tire to examine it. “Shit. This isn’t flat when I parked it here.”

Taylor looked at her friends whose eyes are in horror like her. “I knew it, this is a trapped. Carmie wants us stranded!”

“Shit! I should’ve known!” Heather exclaimed. “Tyler brought me to shore on our first date. That wasn’t a long drive. I didn’t remember the direction since it was dark when we drove to the shore.”

“What?!” Paddy, Courtney and Taylor shouted in unison.

“Now we’re stuck!” Taylor shouted. She’s mad. She tried to figure out how to fix the tire. “I think someone was here to hole my tire. It’s not flat when I leave it here. I’m gonna kill that bitch. What is her problem?”

“I’m sorry.” Heather apologized. “It’s my fault. I should’ve known she gave us a wrong direction.”

Paddy walked towards Heather to comfort her. “It’s not your fault. It was dark and I was the one who agrees to join that bitch beach party. She’ll pay what she had done. And why she wants us to be stranded here? We haven’t done something wrong to her. We’re not even talking to her.”

“That bitch. I think she’s jealous.” Courtney said. “Tay, you have fixing tools or extra tire?”

“Yes I have but I don’t know how to fix this.” Taylor said. There’s a worry in her voice.

“Ok. We’ll figure that out. Let’s eat first. I’m starving.” Courtney said coolly. She opens the door and grabs some food. “Good thing I bought bread and cookies instead of chips.”

Paddy and Heather joined Courtney at the car and grab something to eat.

“Next time, we should trust Taylor’s instinct about bangs.” Paddy joked. They giggled but this is seriously a trouble. They got flat tire, it’s a long drive, and they don’t get a signal.

Taylor is still uneasy and snatches her phone from her pocket from time to time. She still couldn’t get a signal. She is worried if they’ll be stuck here after dark. It’s cold and they haven’t brought a lighter to start a fire. Nobody among the girls is a girl scout before.

“Who among you told the guys we’re out for a beach party?” Taylor finally asked.

“I leave James a message we’ve gone to the beach but I haven’t told him what beach.” Paddy said. “Chill, Tay. Eat something.”

“Yeah ,Tay. Eat.” Courtney offered. “I texted Neil we’re out for a beach party but I also haven’t told him where.”

“I told Tyler, Carmie invited us to a party and we’re heading out to the shore.” Heather said. Her voice is a bit shaky like she’s about to cry.

Taylor grabbed some bread and tossed it to her mouth. “Seriously, I’m gonna kill that Carmie.”

“We’ll help you Tay!” Paddy offered. “Her ugly face will pay!”

They let their self out for a small laugh. They were stranded but the important thing, they all in this together. Friends stand up for each other. What more if they are BEST FRIENDS.

“Though your ‘reporting’ about stuffs you’re going to do this day to your boyfriends is making me sick, it is still a great thing. I’m sure if they couldn’t contact us for the next hours, they’ll be out looking for us. Hopefully.” Taylor rolled her eyeballs.

“You haven’t told Kent?” Courtney asked in surprise. They’re pretty sure their friend Taylor is dating Kent. Why they don’t have some cheesy text moments?

Taylor flashed a ‘what’ look and answered “No. but now I regret I haven’t.”

Since all of them don’t know how to fix a flat tire or even change the tire, they are hopeless. The only hope they holding is that the guys are now looking for them and find where they are before dark.

“Let’s go outside to get some help. Maybe there’s a car would pass or a nearby house.” Paddy suggested.

“Ok, I’ll go with you.” Taylor said.

“We’ll collect woods to heat us up after dark. It’s getting cold.” Courtney said.

“Alright. I’ll lock the car. Maybe Carmie’s mole was just around and will steal our food when we’re out. It’s the only thing we’ve got to survive the night.” Taylor said. Though she doesn’t want to think they’ll be stuck here the whole night, they have to be ready.

“Don’t trust strangers. They might take advantage. See you in an hour alright? Be safe.” Heather warned.

If this was a movie, it’s pretty exciting. But this is real. They should be careful since the four of them are girls and only Paddy knows how to Taekwondo. This is a foreign country and 911 don’t exist. They don’t have signals and the car is full tank but flat tire. Carmie did a great job making them stranded and helpless.

**

Tyler hit the gym before he decided to go home. He already told Heather last night. It’s not that he wants to report all these things to his girlfriend but he wants to let her know. He wants her to trust him to avoid fights and less making up.

After an hour lifting weights, he finally hit the shower and ready to meet his parents. He is only child and for sure his parents are excited to see him. He went home just like every weekend and to think that his house were just miles away from his school, his parents think he’ll do better in boarding school to avoid teenage boy drama.

When he checks his phone, he got three messages. One from his mom, she said that she’ll cook his favourite food for lunch so he should be home early. One is a group message from Carmie, he hadn’t finished reading it but press the delete button. Then one from Heather, she said Carmie invited her to a party, they’re heading out to the shore.

Why the hell Carmie is inviting Heather to a party? Tyler thought. He thinks this is trouble. Why would his ex-girlfriend invite his girlfriend to a party?

Tyler immediately dialled Heather’s number and it went to a voice mail. Hey, what shore? Call me back ayt? Tyler leaves the message.

He called Taylor but he couldn’t reach her as well as Paddy and Courtney. He called next is Neil.

Hey man, where are you? Tyler asked as Neil picks up his phone.

Heading to farmhouse. Why? You sound urgent. Neil answered back.

Carmie invited Heather to a party. She said they’re heading to the shore.

What? Court told me but I did not know Carmie invited her.

It’s trouble, man. I can sense it.

When the man is jealous, it’s kinda sweet but if a girl? It’s a world war 3, man. I’ll check the shore. I’ll call you back.

Neil hang up.

Tyler dialled Carmie’s number and it went to a voice mail. Damn! Tyler cursed.

He drives straight home because his mom is waiting for him. If Neil will call and the girls weren’t at the shore, he’ll go search for them. Carmie is a bitch. She can do whatever she wants. Since the girls we’re not familiar to the place maybe she planned to lose them in the woods.

After lunch that his mom prepared, Tyler went upstairs to his bedroom and checks his phone. He got a message form Neil.

They’re not here. What shore? Courtney hadn’t mention. She’s not answering my calls either.

Tyler dialled Kent’s number. Maybe Taylor told him. He answered on the third ring.

Hey! Did Taylor told you where they’re going today? Tyler asked right away.

No man, why? Kent asked.

Heath told me Carmie invited them to a party. I got a feeling they’re in trouble. I called them but they’re not answering my calls. Where you at? Tyler called.

Isn’t she your ex? I’m at Penguins. Alright, I’ll help you find them.

Ok, I’ll see you there in 20. Tyler hang up.

Tyler replied to Neil’s text. Call James, maybe Paddy told him where they’re heading. Kent said Taylor hadn’t mention to him which shore. I’ll pick Kent up at Penguins. Go pick up James. We need to find them before dark or they’ll freeze to death.

Tyler went downstairs and grabs his car key.

“Where do you think you’re going young man?” Tyler heard his mom called for him.

“Mom, my girlfriend is in danger.” Tyler said as he reached to kiss his mom goodbye. “I’ll see you later, love you!”

“Wait, what? Should I call the cops?” Tyler heard his mom but didn’t bother to answer her. He immediately headed to pick up Kent.

**

Neil was almost near at the farmhouse. It’s been two weeks since he hadn’t come home. But when he received Tyler message to go pick up James, he pulled to a U-turn. He’ll make it up to his parents later.

Carmie is also his ex-girlfriend and no doubt she could do foul things to the transfers. His concern is that the four girls were new here and there are possibilities they’ll be lose in the woods and it’s freaking cold. Probably, they’re not use to cold since they’re from California. He doesn’t want something bad happen to Courtney. He started to care for her. He first saw her cried; he doesn’t want to see Courtney hurt again.

He reached for his blackberry and dialled James number. He is speeding and he doesn’t care. They need to hurry.

Neil, what’s up? James answered.

Hey! I’m picking you up. Where you at? Neil asked over the phone.

What? Why? I’m at my place. James replied. Neil could hear the TV is on in background.

I’ll explain later. See at 20.Text me your address. Neil hang up.

After James texted his address, Neil immediately headed to his place. Tyler and Kent were probably waiting at Penguins. This day is going to be exciting.

**

It’s been an hour and there is still no car passing the road. Paddy and Taylor are busy searching for the place to have signal. Even they are stranded; Taylor can’t help to notice how beautiful the place is. Paddy on the other hand feels the same way. She kept flashing her camera.

“The first adventure in UK!” Paddy answered when she saw Taylor is giving her a what-the-hell-Padd look. “Tay! Why do you think Carmie would do this to us?” Paddy asked. “You’re the one who’s good at breaking codes.”

“I was thinking she is in love with either Neil or Tyler.” Taylor started. “After Neil went to hug Courtney after the game and Tyler sang a song for Heather, this Carmie girl is been nice to them. And she only invited Heath and Court, right?”

“Yeah, I noticed that too. Carmie is so nice to Heath and Court.” Paddy agreed. “I thought, it’s because they do home economics together.”

“I don’t know. We’re not rooming with them so maybe there are things happened that they forgot to let us know.” Taylor said. Her eyes are still on her phone. She’s hoping she’ll get a signal.

“It’s not their fault anyway. I’m not going to forgive that bitch. I’m going to thank her for letting us discover this kind of place but I’m gonna kill her for sabotage your tire!” Paddy exclaimed.

“Tell me about it Padd!” Taylor agreed rolling her eyeballs. “Let’s get back. We need to figure out how to change the tire.”

“Alright!” Paddy muttered. It’s disappointing they haven’t got any help. They walked back to the car when Taylor screamed at the top of her lungs. Because Paddy shouted as well when she saw there’s a snake fell at Taylor’s shoulder. Taylor turned hysterical to get rid of snake. Good thing the snake crawled away and hasn’t beaten Taylor.

Paddy saw Taylor sobbing and a bit shaky. She knows Taylor has fears for worms. But snakes? It even scares her to death. Paddy walked towards Taylor to hug her. She is stiff and it worries Paddy.

“Tay! Are you okay?” Paddy comforted Taylor. “Let’s go get you water. Gosh Taylor! You look horrible.”

Taylor is pale like paper. Paddy assisted her inside the car as soon as they reached the car. From moment to moment she’ll stop crying then she’ll cry again. She is still in shock.

**

Heather and Courtney were out in the woods to get some woods. They still couldn’t get a signal out here and it frustrates them. Courtney’s playing cool and taking pictures as if they’re on vacation pisses Heath off. She is worried like hell and Courtney still thinking she could be a professional wild life photographer someday.

“I think we have enough.” Courtney said holding a handful woods. For the first time, she sets aside her camera.

“You have a lighter or a match? How could we light this up?” Heather asked sounds pissed. It’s getting dark and they need to get back.

“Oh shit. You’re right! Why we don’t smoke? We badly need lighters now.” Courtney cursed. “You should’ve mentioned it a bit soonerr!”

“You should’ve mentioned it a bit sonnerr!” Heather mocked Courtney’s British accent. “Let’s get back. Maybe Taylor got lighters in her car.” Heather suggested.

They decided to go back when Heather’s phone rang. Finally they got signal. It was Kent who’s calling.

Kent! Help! We’re stranded. We’re at south west Brighton. Heather said urgently. She just hopes she’s not choppy and Kent could clearly understand her.

Kent! hello? Heather said over the phone when Kent did not answer back. They lost signal again.

“Oh my god Heath! I hope he gets the message.” Courtney said almost shouting. They ran to meet Taylor and Paddy at the car.

“What happened?” Courtney asked to Paddy. She did not wait for Paddy to answer and says “Heather got a signal and she told Kent where we at. I’m sure they’re coming.”

“What? That’s good news.” Paddy said excitedly and hugged Courtney.

“What happened to Taylor?” Heather drops the woods in her hand and went to check Taylor who’s still a bit shaky. Her eyes are red from crying.

Paddy drags Heather and Courtney away from Taylor. She’s afraid if she mention snake again, Taylor would cry again.

“There’s a snake fell at her shoulder. Good thing it didn’t bite her.” Paddy explained.

“She’s in trauma, oh my god!” Courtney said in shock. She went to comfort Taylor inside the car. “Oh my god, Taylor has a fever!”

“What?!” Heather and Paddy ran towards the car. Taylor is curled up in the car and when they feel Taylor’s forehead, she’s freaking hot.

Courtney wet her hanky and places it to Taylor’s forehead to at least ease Taylor’s fever.

The sun is setting but still there’s no sign of Kent. They should probably here soon since Heather received the call an hour ago. What if Kent didn’t get the message?

Taylor looks a little better but its freezing cold. They stuck inside the car and they turned on the heater to keep them warm. The woods are useless since they don’t have any match or lighter. Another hour in the shore would freeze them to death.

**

The four boys met at Penguins to start searching for their girlfriends. James took the ride with Neil and Kent hopped in to Tyler’s car. The first place they check was at Spencer’s. They look for Carmie but she’s not in there. She’s the only one who knows where the girls were heading since it is all her plans.

They check the nearest shore and ask the people at the surrounding if they saw the four girls but they haven’t got any information. They decided to split up to speed their searching.

“Taylor got the Ford so probably they went to a gas station.” Kent said.

“Why I haven’t thought about that? Let’s check on the nearest gas station at Spencer.” Tyler went to a U-turn.

Kent called James to check on the gas stations. Hopefully the girls had a small talk about the cashier or whatever and told them where they’re heading. It’s the only thing they’re holding to.

When Tyler pulled off at the gas station near the school, they said there’s a Ford Fiesta dropped by around 9 am with four girls, two blondes and two brunettes. They’re heading south. Tyler immediately headed south. Kent informed James and Neil.

It’s already 4pm when they got the information. Fat chance but they have to take a risk. They’re going south.

“From time to time please try to reach on either of the girls. I think they don’t get signals.” Tyler commanded.

Of all the four boys, Tyler is the most worried. Maybe he knows he’s the reason why the four girls are missing. He dumped Carmie two weeks before he started dating Heather. It’s her sweetest revenge.

Kent finally reached Heather’s phone. Her voice is in panic. It was quick, he lost contact on Heather.

“She said they’re at south west Brighton.” Kent immediately informed Tyler. Tyler speeds up since they’re on the right way.

“Faster, man. I have a bad feeling Taylor is in trouble…” Kent said.

**

After an hour, finally they boys found Taylor’s car. It is almost dark and the sun is setting. Neil and James arrived first and immediately went out of the car to find Paddy and Courtney running towards them.

Paddy went to hug James tightly. “Thank god, you’re here.”

Courtney clung to Neil and drawled “Taylor..”

As Neil looked into her eyes, he could sense Taylor is in trouble. He ran towards the car to check on Taylor but Kent is faster. Tyler followed to hug Heather.

“Thank god, you found us..” Heather said to Kent but he push pass through her and walk off to Taylor.

Kent felt his adrenaline when he saw Taylor crawled up in the car. She looks pale and she is freaking hot. She got a fever.

Kent reached to carry Taylor, bridal style. “Hurry up, man. She got a fever.” He shouted to Tyler. He joined Taylor at the back seat of the car and cuddles her tightly.

Tyler and Heather followed hand in hand to the car. He opened the door for Heather then ran towards the driver’s door and started the car. They have to bring Taylor to the nearest hospital.

“What happened?” Tyler asked when they are driving now on the road.

“Taylor has fears for reptiles. A snake fell at her shoulder while they’re looking for help..” Heather said slowly. “I think she’s in trauma.”

“If something happens to Taylor, I’m gonna kill your psycho ex, dude!” Kent warned.

“What? Is Carmie your ex?” Heather piped in. She turned to Tyler.

Tyler looks at her then back to the road. He is speeding again. If there were cops here, he’ll be dead. “Yeah, when I received your message about Carmie invited you to the party; I started to search for you.”

“Ty! You settle this on her! Taylor could be killed if you haven’t found us..” Heather said in contempt.

“I’m sorry.” Tyler apologized. He knows it was his fault.

**

Taylor was admitted to the hospital. She is recovering from the antipyretic; the nurse has given to her. She’ll be out of the hospital first thing tomorrow as the doc promise. Her parents called and if you think her mom would be on her, well, she’s being scold for partying around instead of studying. Her car is supposedly be confiscated again but her mom didn’t after Taylor cried over the phone.

Kent is worried like hell when he saw how horrible Taylor looks back in the car. He insisted to stay at the hospital to babysit Taylor. He never thought he’ll be a knight in shining armour and Taylor will be his damsel in distress. Taylor Strong is ‘strong’ but Kent Alter could ‘alter’ it sometimes to her weaker side. In that case, Taylor needed Kent, her hero.

Tyler drove Heather back to her dorm. He told her Carmie is his past and she is now his present. Heather understands it’s not his fault but Carmie’s. Tyler is worried about the cat fight that will happen if he won’t deal with Carmie sooner. He felt sorry for Taylor. She’s not supposed to be involved in this Tyler-Heather-Carmie situation but she was the one who suffered. Hope she’ll be fine.

Tyler kissed Heather goodbye and Heather kissed him back intensely, possessively. All he could say is ‘she’s hotter than Carmie.’

Neil drove Courtney back to the dorm as well. After a long day, glad they found them before it’s too late for Taylor. Courtney deserved to rest since Kent insisted to watch Taylor at the hospital. He’ll thank Carmie anyway. Courtney let him kiss her. He loves how he caressed Courtney’s back while she ran her hands through his hair back to his neck.

James gets his hands dirty for fixing Taylor’s car. He doesn’t mind anyway for Paddy stayed with him. He also joined Paddy at the hospital since she’s afraid to be alone in the dorm. Paddy fell asleep to James shoulder and it was just a picture perfect moment for James. If he would own a scoreboard, he would rate this moment as perfect ten.

**

What will I do so you could be out of my life, Carmie? Look! I NEVER LIKED YOU! Tyler leaves a message to Carmie since she’s not answering his phone calls.

Leave my girlfriend alone or I’ll tell the world how disgusting to see you sleeping open mouth with saliva flowing.. and oh Neil just told me, you got lies on 8th grade! Yes! We’re talking about you. We were talking how awful and tragic to be your boyfriend for a moment. This is goodbye Carmie! He ended the message.

Tyler made the phone call after he drops Heather to the dorm. He never felt better after he made the phone call. Carmie deserves to be treated like shit. It’s time to learn her lesson. He disdains her. Not all she wants is what she gets.

He made his way to his home and for sure his mom would be interest to know who this girl he’s trying to save.

Well, mom, she’s beautiful. Tyler smiled at the thought.
