Chapter 1: Goodbye Canterlot, Hello Ponyville!

Chapter 1: Goodbye Canterlot, Hello Ponyville!

It was late at night when the Wonderbolt show had finally ended. Being the last show of the season meant that everypony on the team had to perform at 110%, or they might not come back when the next season started, although it was rare that a Wonderbolt was ever fired during the off season, probably because they were, for the most part, irreplaceable. Well, all of them except you.

You had joined the team around three months ago, but hadn't preformed until tonight, making it more stressful than it already was for you. It was the last show of the season, but also your first, which meant that if you mysteriously left the Wonderbolts, nopony would care.

"Nice show out there kid" Soarin said as he made his way into the locker room, a bit of what looks like pie hanging from his mouth. You continued to sit there in thought until Soarin had managed to take his suit off. His locker was right next to yours, and you still found it hard to talk when at any moment you could accidentally see Soarin Jr, mainly because of the way ponies had to get out of the suit. It was like sliding through a tube that was too small for you, and due to the wings, most Wonderbolts had to lean extremely far back to take of their suits, Soarin being one of them.

"Hey Soarin" you said quietly, quickly checking to make sure he was out of his suit, which he thankfully was.

"Yeah?" he replied, taking a bag of bits out of the locker along with his keys.

"Am I coming back next season?" you asked, turning to face him, causing him to stop dead in his tracks. His reaction caused you to worry, but he quickly broke out in laughter. It took him a few minutes to calm down after that, but when he did he sat next to you.

"Don't worry about it Hotty, you did well, I'm sure Spitfire will keep you on the team" Soarin said while putting a foreleg around your neck, "Now come on, it's time to meet your fans"

"My fans?" you asked as Soarin pulled you towards the door. He didn't answer, but he didn't have to, because as he opened the door you saw a line of young colts and fillies, many accompanied by their parents, and a few single mares. As you scanned the crowd Soarin walked off, and much to your surprise nopony followed him, which meant only one thing. They were here for you.

"Hey Hot Shot! Hot Shot!" a young colt shouted from beside his mother, who looked extremely annoyed. You walked over to him first, simply because he seemed to be the most excited out of the crows, seeing as he did shout your name a few times until you looked at him.

"Hey kid" you said, extending a hoof out to him, which he took excitedly, nearly shaking you off the ground.

"That was amazing, can I have your autograph?!" he asked, nearly bouncing around from his excitement.

"Sure kid" you said happily as he handed you a picture. It was you in your Wonderbolt uniform, your orange mane flowing in the wind.

"So who do I make this out to?" you asked, picking up his pen with your mouth.

"Silver Bullet!" he shouted as he actually started to bounce. You quickly scribbled your autograph down, giving him a small hug, before turning around. Now everypony had their pictures out, and after a quick break you autographed them all, getting a few numbers from the mares that were waiting for you. After everypony had left you sat on the floor, tired from standing for what seemed like hours.

"Nice job kid" Spitfire said, walking towards you from the entrance of the arena. You lazily looked up, barely able to move.

"Thanks, I guess..." you said before falling over, your hind legs finally giving out, which elicited a laugh from Spitfire.

"Since it seems you can't move, I guess I'll just have to take you home" Spitfire said sarcastically. You knew she had a small thing for you, and even though she was a few years older than you, you did have a small thing for her too. After she pulled you onto her back she walked out of the Canterlot Arena, and took to the air, heading in the general direction of your house.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning you woke up with pain in every muscle in your body. Oddly enough your groin hurt a bit more than the rest, and after looking around you found out why. Spitfire was laying in your bed, sleeping peacefully, hugging one of your forelegs very tight. Oh god, what did I do..., you thought to yourself as she opened her eyes, waking up because of your movement.

"Morning~" she hummed happily, giving you a small kiss.

"What happened last night?" you asked, afraid to hear her answer.

"Well, I took you home, you were acting kinda funny, then one thing led to another and here we are" she said, still smiling. Her smile quickly faded when she noticed your worried look. You had slept with not only your coworker, but also the Captain of the Wonderbolts, if anypony found out about it your life was ruined!

"Don't worry, you didn't finish inside" Spitfire said, hugging your chest lightly.

"So we did...?" you asked slowly, hoping she would get what you were asking.

"Yup, and it was oh so good" she said with a sly grin, hoping out of your bed and making her way towards your bathroom. You on the other hoof were terrified. What if somepony found out? What if Soarin found out?! You knew he had a thing for Spitfire, he would probably kill you if he found out you slept with her! As you continued to have a mental breakdown you heard your shower turn on, and around ten minutes later turn off again. Spitfire came out of your bathroom with her mane still wet, sticking to her body in a very seductive way.

"What's wrong Hotty?" she asked, again seeing your worried look.

"What if somepony finds out that we slept together?!" you nearly shouted, still in the process of a mental breakdown.

"Don't worry, it was nothing special, just a quickie" Spitfire said reassuringly, "and I really do mean just a quickie"

"What?" you asked, calming down slightly as you tried to figure out what she meant. When you didn't say anything else she spoke up.

"It lasted around five minutes, and you passed out right afterwards, nothing special" she said with a hoof on your shoulder, "I bet that was faster than the fastest mare in all of Equestria"

"You mean Rainbow Dash?" you asked, your mental breakdown now over.

"Yeah, she claims to be the fastest flyer, but I've seen faster, so she must be faster in another way, right?" Spitfire said jokingly, turning around to make her way towards the door, "I'm going to get breakfast, care to join me?"

"I'll be down in a minute" you said as she walked out the door. The mention of Rainbow Dash made you think about your feelings for her. You were there when she performed her first Sonic Rainboom, but you hadn't talked to her since you left Cloudsdale flight school. Back then you and her were good friends, and would fly around all the time together, talking about how you both wanted to join the Wonderbolts one day, but it was only for a short amount of time, maybe a month at best before you had to leave.

After you managed to beat a student from Canterlot flight school in a tournament you were transferred over, never seeing Rainbow Dash again. At the time you were extremely depressed, but you didn't know why. It took you a few years before you realized you had a crush on Rainbow Dash, and from then on you had always wanted to meet her again. Your dream of joining the Wonderbolts became a stepping stone to your dream of dating Rainbow, hoping that you being a Wonderbolt would impress her enough for her to date you.

"Are you coming down or what?!" Spitfire yelled from downstairs, obviously annoyed that you were still laying in bed. You quickly got up and made your way downstairs, finding Spitfire cooking eggs and hay bacon in your kitchen. As you sat down at your table she turned around, giving you a cute smile, before going back to cooking. If it wasn't for Rainbow Dash you would be loving every minute you were spending with Spitfire that morning, but you couldn't. Your little schoolyard crush was the love of your life, and she was the only mare in the entire world that would make you happy.

"What's up?" Spitfire asked as she placed a plate in front of you, taking a seat across from you.

"Just thinking about what to do this off season" you said truthfully, eating a strip of hay bacon happily, almost like a dog when it is given a treat.

"You could travel, a lot of us do that" Spitfire said after swallowing a mouthful of eggs, "Soarin invited me to a place up north this time, but I don't think I'll go"

"You should go, it might be really fun" you said, trying to help Soarin get with Spitfire so she would leave you alone.

"I don't know, maybe..." Spitfire said, poking at the other egg on her plate, "Got any idea where you would go?"

"Where did you say Rainbow Dash lived again?" you asked, catching her off guard.

"Why would you...?" she mumbled before remembering the times you had spent with her in flight school, "You still love her?"

"Yeah..." you said almost in a whisper, your face turning a darker shade of red than it already was.

"I remember your friends always made fun of you for that..." Spitfire said, thinking back, "Good thing I was your teacher or they might have gotten away with it". As odd as it sounds, she was probably right, but even back then you had a feeling she liked you more than just another Wonderbolts prospect. At the time it would have been weird for her to say something because she was your teacher, even if she was only a few years older than you.

"Well, if you really want to know, she lives in Ponyville" Spitfire said, getting out of her chair and taking the plates to the sink.

"Thanks Spitfire" you said quietly, knowing that she was probably depressed that even after last night you still wanted Rainbow Dash. She didn't say anything in response as you walked past her as you made your way to your room. You were going to go pack the things you needed, and then, as soon as Spitfire was gone, you were headed for Ponyville. Hopefully there'll be somewhere I can stay until I get my own place... you thought as you pulled your suitcase out of your closet.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"You're letting me stay here?!" you shouted, a slight echo following your outburst as you looked around the gigantic room.

"I don't use it so you might as well" the Unicorn next to you said, turning to make his way towards the stairs.

"Thank you so much Med!" you shouted, giving the pale white Unicorn a hug before you started unpacking. It was as if luck was on your side. You made your way into town, and after you left Ponyville's hotel you ran into Medical Mystery, Med for short. Apparently he was heading there to put up a for rent sign about his basement, seeing as he had no use for it. You were paying around five hundred bits a month to stay here, but with your paycheck from the Wonderbolts show you didn't care, five hundred bits was nothing to you now.

After you unpacked you made your way into town, looking for a nice place to get some food, when you noticed a multicoloured blur shoot across the sky. Knowing that there was only one Pegasus that could leave a trail like that you quickly shot after it, hoping to catch up. Thankfully the blur started to get closer as it neared a rather large cloud house that was floating on the outskirts of Ponyville. You quickly landed on the front steps, and were about to knock when the door opened.

"Can I help you?" the on the other side asked, her rainbow mane giving away her identity.

"Hi Rainbow" you said sheepishly, hoping she would remember you. She quickly looked you over, and as she reached your cutie mark she started to remember you.

"It's Hot Shot right?" she asked, giving you a somewhat worried look.

"Yup" you said with a grin, "Long time no see"

"Yeah, you got that right, come on in" she said as she moved out of the doorway, allowing you to enter, "What're you doing here, didn't you just become a Wonderbolt?"

"Yes, but I thought I would pay you a visit, and maybe ask you a question" you said as you sat down on her couch, which like the rest of her house was made out of clouds.

"If you're asking me to be a Wonderbolt, then it's a yes" she said as she sat next to you.

"Sadly that's not it" you said turning to face her, "I was wondering if maybe we could, uh...". CRAP! you shouted in your head, What do I say?!.

"Maybe we could what?" Rainbow asked, tilting her head slightly.

"Go on a date sometime?" you asked quietly, barely audible.

"What was that?" Rainbow asked, tilting her head even more as she couldn't hear you.

"I was wondering if we could go on a date sometime, you know, as stallion and mare" you said, just loud enough for her to hear it.

"No"
