Chapter One: From the Beginning
Twilight Sparkle was born in Canterlot, Equestria. Her parents were very poor, and couldn't afford a cottage of their own, so a close family friend loaned them the house. The family was shattered after he died.. That night Twilight's parent's went out and didn't come back until after two 'o clock in the morning, like most nights.
Five year old Twilight woke, startled by the slam of the front door and the stomping of hooves. Her parents usually didn't come home so loud. She heard her mother shouting something at her father, and then the sounds of pots and pans being thrown, and hitting the walls. Young Twilight hid under her covers as she heard her mother's stern shouts turn into painful cries of help. One last 'thump' of a thrown pan rang around the walls before the house went completely silent...
Twilight held her breath as she heard loud hoovesteps coming towards her room. Her father stormed in with his eyes wild. His mane matted, and teeth clenched, he threw Twilight across the room with his horn in all his rage. She thumped against the wall, and a squeak of surprise and pain came out of her mouth. She wimpered as her father trotted up to her and yelled, yelled about how it was all Twilight's fault...All Twilight's fault..
But she didn't understand.
Twilight stood up with all her strength and galloped out of her bedroom doo before her father could throw her again... She only glanced at her Mother's lifeless body on the kitchen floor as she ran out the front door into the city of Canterlot.
Twilight didn't stop galloping, not even the pain coarsing through her body could stop this little filly. She only stopped when she came upon the gates of a big white castle. She didn't take time to investigate.. She just layed her cold, and cut up body on the ground and cried herself to sleep, hoping her father wouldn't find her this time.
Chapter Two: Celestia's Finding
Princess Celestia and Nightmare Moon have been battling for power over ponykind for over hundreds of years now... Celestia has only been able to temporarily solve the problem, but she knew she could not trap her sister forever. Ever since she had broken her friendship between her and Luna, she had been very lonely.
Celestia watched wistfully out over Canterlot, at all of the busy ponies trotting from place to place. Celestia longed for company; other than her most loyal knight, Shining Armor. Of course she was good friends with the respectable stallion, but she needed to meet somepony else... Somepony who would respect her for who she was, not because she is a princess.
Something caught Celestia's attention in the corner of her eye. She looked and found a small, rugged looking, purple object. Whatever it was it looked to be covered in blood, and dirt. She frowned disapprovingly at the sight. Who would leave such a thing outside of the castle gates?
Celestia trotted down through the hall and down the stairs to investigate the object. She met Shining Armor and the other guards outside the door, Shining Srmor caught up to her while she as walking. "Princess, where are you going? You do not have any scheduled visits for today."
"Don't worry, I am just going outside of the gates to see what somepony left by the street." Celestia stated reasurringly.
"Allow me to go with you your highness; it might be dangerous." Shining Armor said with a hint of worry in his voice.
"Don't be silly, Shining Armor, I'll be fine." Celestia said, rolling her eyes. She started towards the object with Shining Armor following behind her.
Once they got to the edge of the castlegrounds, they peered at the object. Celestia was shocked to find out that this was not a something.. it was a somepony! She could see cuts and bruises on the little pony's body.. It was only a foal. And judging by the jaw and head shape, the little foal was indeed a filly. Her breathing was heavy, and her leg appeared to be broken.
Celestia peered at Shining Armor, judging by the shocked look on his face, he figured out that this was a filly also. She ordered him to bring her into the castle, Shining Armor didn't refuse. He gently lifted the damaged foal up and layed her across his back so they could make their way to the hospital wing of the castle.
Once the little filly was in the infirmary, Shining Armor and Celestia sat in the waiting room. What could've caused this young pony be so hurt? And why would she be outside of the castle? Doesn't she have a mother or father? Celestia had so many questions going through her head. And she had alot of questions to ask the filly, if the young mare was even alive anymore....
Chapter Three: The Truth Comes Out
When Twilight woke up, she found herself in a big, white bed in giant room. She didn't know how she got there, but the bed was more comfortable than the cold ground outside.
Curious to know where she was, Twilight tried to sit up, only to feel a sharp pain in her side. She looked and saw stitches up her flank, from where she was thrown against the wall. She winced, and then noticed her leg was in a cast. Twilight was scared, she didn't know what was going on. She looked for the nearest way out, only to see a tall, milky-white mare staring at her from the door across the room.
Twilight froze, staring back at her. She had a long flowing mane and tail with magnificent hues of blue, green, and pink. Her giant, feathery wings were raised in curiosity, and there was a long horn on her head. The mare also bid a shiny crown and necklace. She emerged from behind the curtain, and Twilight also noticed she had a giant sun on her flank. The tall mare walked with grace towards Twilight's bed. The filly's pupils shrunk with alarm, she wanted to jump up and run again, but she was stuck in her bed. "Hello," The mare said, softly. "I am Princess Celestia. What is your name?"
"T-Tw-Twilight Sp-Sparkle" Twilight stuttered, she was still shaking from the night before.
"Hello, Twilight." The Princess said softly, "Can you tell me who did this to you?"
Twilight hesitated; she thought back to the awful night before, when she ran away one last time.. "I can only help you if you tell me, who did this to you." The Princess had an encouraging look in her eye as she said this.
"My-my father," Twilight whispered shakily, looking around to see if he was near to punish her for saying his name.
"What?" Princess Celestia looked confused. Twilight told her about the night before; how she had been thrown against the wall and saw her Mother laying on the kitchen floor, not moving at all. She also told the Princess about all other nights, how her whole life was constant beatings from her father, and being yelled at for no apparent reason.. How it was all of Twilight's fault.. All Twilight's fault.. The Princess listened, as though she could not believe her ears.. Imagining all the pain and hurt going on in little four year old Twilight's young life.
"Is my Mommy going to be okay?" Twilight looked up at Princess Celestia, and she snapped back to attention. The Princess looked down into those wide, purple-rimmed eyes. Trying to hold back tears, she said,
"I- I don't, think so, Twilight," and the little filly looked down at her bed, and started weeping . Princess Celestia lookd out the window and repeated, "I don't think so..."
