The words we never said.

Prompt: The words we never said.

Pinkie Pie snorted, her mane and tail were covered in various baked goods and the kitchen itself was a gigantic mess aswell, batter dripping down the walls frosting stuck on the oven, and the remains of what should have been a cookbook lying on the floor.

"Wow Pinkie, that was awesome... crazy.... but awesome!" Rainbow Dash fluttered near the ceiling, staying far away from the cupcakes that had just obliterated most of the clean kitchen just moments prior, shuddering at the implications of a spoon which was stuck in a wall.

"That was great Dashie! We should make those more often!" Pinkie righted herself and immediately set to work cleaning up the mess they'd made.

After making sure that it was safe Rainbow Dash joined her pink friend with a bucket and a couple of washcloths and they cleaned the kitchen in silence.

Well, as silent as pinkie could be, she was still snorting and giggling about her latest invention, the exploding cupcakes would be a blast -literally- at her next couple of parties, aswell as a great way to prank a couple of ponies...

So with a wide smile she vowed to sell a batch of them to the first pony that came in asking for cupcakes.

--

The alabaster unicorn hummed softly while she levitated numerous objects with her magic, a stitch here, some sewing there and after just a few moments she had finished the latest of her designs.

Setting down the tools of her trade she smiled to herself. Today has been simply wonderful! Only one in the afternoon and I'm already nearly done!

She picked up her saddlebags, draping them over her withers and trotted out the back-door of her boutique. Time for some refreshments! I wonder if Sweetie Belle would like a cupcake?

Her journey to Sugarcube Corner was quick and uneventful, though the last part almost always changed as soon as she entered the bakery...

--

"HI RARITY!" she winced and put a hoof to her head, Pinkie Pie was a dear friend, but the volume the pink party pony could produce was giving her migraines.

"Good day Pinkie." she casually trotted up to the display counter, letting her eyes roam over the delectable treats. Some strawberry cupcakes today I think, and maybe a blueberry muffin for Ditzy.

After relaying her order to her friend, receiving said order and leaving the necessary bits on the counter she bade Pinkie farewell and started her journey home. I wonder what she's up to, she was giggling even more than usual...

--

"HI SIS!" she winced again, briefly wondering if her little sister was taking lessons from her friend.

"Hello Sweetie Belle." she said, making her way to her chaise lounge and resting her head on a pillow.

"Weren't you supposed to be out with the other crusaders today?"

"Well, Applebloom's got the sniffles, and scoots is getting flying lessons from miss Doo, so it's just me." Rarity looked at her little sister and found -to her horror- that the filly was still smiling.

"Sweetie Belle, what did you do?" she asked with a growing sense of dread.

"Well, I thought that since I was going to be home for a while, I might aswell make myself useful while trying to get my cutie mark." the filly was beaming at this point. "So I organized everything in your design room by color, and I was just about to cook us a meal."

Rarity sighed in relief, she actually kind of appreciated her little sister's help when it came to organizing, her own inclinations trended more towards 'organized chaos'.

What was more, she had actually managed to get home before Sweetie Belle set the kitchen on fire... again.

"There's no need for that Sweetie." she said in a carefully measured tone, the last thing she wanted to do was upset her little sister again.

"I've actually just returned from Sugarcube Corner, I thought you might like a treat after your hard work organizing everything."

"YAY!" this time Rarity had had the foresight to bury her head beneath a pillow and was thus spared from the latest vocal onslaught.

Sweetie Belle had already made her way to Rarity's saddlebags and extracted a cupcake from them.

"Thank you sis!" she said and opened her mouth to take a bite.

--

The explosion could be seen throughout all of Ponyville, but the only ones with any inclination as to what had happened to the dress maker's shop giggled like mad, and hid in a cloud respectively.

"I told you it was going to be great!"

"Ehh yea, it's very nice Pinks.... But what do you think Rarity will do if she finds us?"

The pink mare stopped laughing and gulped.

"It's probably best if we stay away from her for a little while isn't it?"

Rainbow dash just rolled her eyes. "Yea, I'd say that's probably a good idea, we can apologize later once she's cooled down."

She sat back on her cloud and thought about her designer friend, before she noticed Pinkie giving her a confused look.

She sighed before asking the question she asked her friend at least five times a day. "What is it now Pinkie?"

"Why should we apologize? That was a great prank!"

The cyan Pegasus started at her pink companion in disbelief. "Are you seriously telling me that you have -never- apologized to anypony before?"

"Nope!" Pinkie replied with her trademark smile, "Ponies can never be angry with me for long!"

Dash laughed out loud. "Pinkie Pie, you are so...-random-"

Blue.

Prompt: Blue

Blue...blue is my favorite color of the spectrum

My favorite place to be? In the wide blue open sky, flying with style and bucking clouds.

My lifelong dream? To be a Wonderbolt ofcourse, those 'majestic', ugh that's such an egghead word fliers that combined almost everything I love.

From stunt flying in front of a crowd, down to their getup: Dark blue flight suits that make everything they did at least twenty percent cooler.

But none of those things -awesome as they are- are the reason blue is my favorite color...

Never thought I would think this but that reason comes with a whole lot of pink.

--

The cyan blue Pegasus sighed and rolled over on the cloud she was resting on looking at the clouds, even though it was her scheduled nap time she couldn't get comfortable.

Images of those light-blue pools filled wonder kept flashing through her mind.

Which led to -as it always did- her thinking about the pony that belonged with those pools.

Ponyville's premier party pony Pinkie Pie.

She sighed again, hanging out with Pinkie was great fun, they could laugh together, go pranking together and even just go for a walk or a run or on occasion flying... and Pinkie never seemed to slow down, no matter what she was doing.

She sometimes wondered where the pink mare got all her energy from, and that in turn led her to think about the other things pinkie could do:

Hiding in flower pots and sponge holders.

Predict the falling of objects, and ponies.

And she's even faster than I am!

That was always at the heart of it, though Dash respected... admired... loved Pinkie, it irked her that her marefriend was faster than she was.

She was supposed to be the fastest, she had always been the fastest, even back in flight school she was faster than any other pony.

Yet whenever she tried to outrun her marefriend, she got caught.

"There you are Dashie!" her view of the blue sky obscured by a pink face with blue eyes.

"Come on!" Pinkie kissed her on the top of her nose and dragged her off the cloud.

Dash didn't even stop to question how Pinkie had manged to get up to her resting cloud -it being at least three stories high- and simply followed her marefriend, lazily flapping her wings as pinkie bounced up and down.

"What is going on Pinks?" she asked, not really expecting an answer. "You know it's my nap time."

"Uh huh. But I was looking, and I saw that you couldn't sleep!" The pink mare said as if it was obvious to anypony.

"So I thought to myself: Pinkie, Dashie can't sleep, what can I do to help her with that?"

The pink mare had stopped bouncing and was removing the springs from under her hooves. "And myself replied!"

"Myself said that I should totally make you take me flying!"

Dash took a moment to scratch her head before admitting defeat in the face of Pinkie logic, greater forces than her had tried and failed after all.

Gravity was currently losing the battle with her marefriend as Pinkie bounced up and hung suspended in the air for a few seconds before shooting forward and landing on Dash' back.

"Ow! Hey, watch the wings." The Pegasus said, before flapping her wings a little more strongly to send them upwards.

"Sorry Dashie." Pinkie giggled, "I just wanted to make it so that you wouldn't have to land, I know how much you love flying."

Dash merely rolled her eyes at this latest example of the strange ways her friend's mind worked.

"So where are we going? She asked.

"We... are going..... to CLOUDSDALE!" Pinkie cheered. "I managed to get my hooves on tickets for the new tryouts for the Wonderbolts, and I thought you'd might like to join!"

Dash' eyes went wide and she craned her neck to look at her marefriend. "Wha- how? When?"

she forgot to flap her wings for a moment, but it came back to her after a few seconds of free fall.

"Wheeeee!" Pinkie was obviously having fun. "I got them last week, and then I thought to myself: Pinkie I'm sure that Dashie will love these! And myself agreed with me."

Her face falls slightly, "I didn't want to make you take me all the way there, because then you'd be too tired to fly properly, but apparently since I won them I have to be there to redeem them."

She nestled her head in Dash's mane. "And since my flying contraption broke down two days ago I couldn't just fly next to you, I'm sorry Dashie."

"Hey!" Dash lurched and startled her rider. "You have nothing to be sorry for! You went and got tickets just so I could compete, and you did everything you could to make sure I could go. You are totally awesome."

Dash sometimes forgot that when she cheered up Pinkie, she would be hugged fiercely... She got a reminder only a few seconds after she'd said her piece.

After another free fall and another squeal from Pinkie they were well on their way to Cloudsdale.

--

"You're up next!" a stallion told her, "Get out there and show us what you've got!"

Dash flexed her wings and was off like a bullet, Twisting one way, dodging a cloud, turning that way and flying upside down for a while, Twirling around the next obstacle in her way with a grace only years of flying experience could bring.

She was in her element and she felt great, on top of the world! But then she looked down, and spotted pink, staring up at her with that impossibly wide smile and those blue eyes in which she could drown, and she lost her focus.

An hour or two and a visit to the infirmary later they were outside the arena again and Dash was leaning on Pinkie, having twisted an ankle on a cloudcrete support beam on her last trick.

"I'm sorry you didn't win Dashie, but I'm sure you'll get it next time!" Pinkie chirped and kissed her deeply, Dash just looked at the mare -her mare- she looked at her poofy hair, her pinker than pink coat and most of all her wide blue smiling eyes.

She smiled into the kiss.

Yeah, Blue is definitely my favorite color.

Silence.

Prompt: Silence

She cantered through the dark abandoned streets of Canterlot, the only audible sound coming from her hooves on the street's stones.

Her head was raised skywards looking at the bright stars and enjoying the view as the moon was still new, when she suddenly had a crazy idea.

The party -unexpectedly- had been a blast, she had been asked to provide the music, at first she had refused stating that her music wasn't appreciated by the highbrow elite, but when she was told exactly which ponies would attending she had changed her stance and happily obliged.

She had started out slow deliberately, ponies still trickling in while she set up the last of her equipment, helping themselves to drinks and generally creating a soft buzz with all the idle chatter.

Until she put an end to it by putting her hooves to the disks, she wasn't the best DJ in Equestria for nothing.

Starting with a slow and steady beat as to not scare off all the ponies unfamiliar with her music she built expectation, several of the ponies swaying slightly, not entirely sure why they were doing so.

Then she dropped the bass and started with her one of her most upbeat songs.

The guests had been stunned, then they had tried to vocalize their displeasure over the sound of her music, but at the end they had all danced like their lives depended on it, and it filled her with a sense of satisfaction that she could even get the prim and proper stick-up-their-backside ponies to enjoy her creations.

The other thing that filled her with a sense of satisfaction was the face her raven-haired friend had made when some high class fancy pony declared her music 'the best he'd ever heard'

She decided that she would do anything she could to see her make that face again, even if she'd have to sit through a dozen concerto's as punishment- it would be worth it.

The party had ended early, the ponies attending having other 'engagements' as they called them.

Which meant that she had more time to herself than she knew what to do with.

So she did something she had never done before: She cantered out of the city and into the surrounding mountains.

From the moment she had found her cutie mark her life had been filled with three things:

Parties, which she usually provided the music for, a steady beat and sub-woofers being the mainstay of her particular brand.

Though not the most popular brand of music just yet, it was getting close and she was practically the brand name.

Drinking, which she often did with her best and only friend, she herself preferred a good beer but her friend had a weakness for the stronger brands of liquor.

Which meant that, while she could consume roughly her weight in drinks, her friend couldn't handle more than a few rounds,

This, combined with the earthpony's low tolerance for alcohol had lead to more than one occasion of them stumbling home drunk and falling asleep wherever they collapsed.

And Classical music...

Despite what the tabloids said she was actually quite fond of the music, and as such her friends 'punishments' of dragging her to every concert in which she was performing wasn't as daunting as her friend thought it was.

All in all this meant that her life was never boring, never without excitement, and never silent.

Which made her current wanderings all the more jarring, especially to herself.

She finally crested a hill which allowed for a panoramic view of most of Equestria.

Her friend had told her about this hill many times before, about the beauty of the lakes and the fields as the sun set and twilight settled over the land.

And about the forests that seemed so mysterious when night came.

She folded her fore-legs and rested her head upon them, content to simply take in the vastness of the land.

“I never thought I would find you here.”

She startled to her hooves and almost planted her face in the dirt, managing to recover just in time to see her friend standing behind her.

The grey earth pony laughed. “Don't worry, I won't tell anypony.”

The DJ took a couple of breaths and dedicated a moment to regaining her composure before chuckling herself.

“You shouldn't sneak up on ponies like that 'Tavi.”

Octavia simply smiled. “Finally had enough of the constant partying?“

The white unicorn snorted “Not likely.” she settled down next to her friend who had stolen her previous spot on the ground. “I just wondered what it was like.” she said looking at her Grey friend sideways. “You keep going on and on about this place.”

“If I do, it's only because I get most of my inspiration from here.” Octavia sighed contently and closed her eyes.

Normally she would have made a joke about classical music and boring places, but she didn't.

She felt oddly serene, a sensation she didn't often get from her 'job'.

So she remained quiet and looked at the night's sky together with her best friend, away from the busy Canterlot nightlife, away from all the parties in which hundreds of ponies danced and jumped around,

away from bars in which drunken and sober ponies alike laughed and sometimes sang out of tune,

away from the music that was both passion and job for the both of them and noise they surrounded themselves with every day.

And simply enjoyed the silence.

Spread em.

Prompt: Spread 'em

"I'm gonna do it this time!" The orange filly fastened her purple helmet and set off, her wings flapping rapidly creating a low buzzing sound as they propelled her across the road and towards the ramp the other crusaders had helped her build.

She could feel the wind in her face and had to squint her eyes to be able to see -and avoid- obstacles like pebbles and pits in the road, something she did with ease.

"Yay Scootaloo!"

"Go Scoots! Ya can do it!"

Sweetie Belle and Applebloom were sitting close to the ramp they had helped build, Scootaloo had been asking them to help with it's construction for months saying that it would help her practice her newest tricks.

It had taken a lot of time to get all the materials together, but once that was done they had put the ramp together in a day, after which they had to rebuild it because it came out looking like a chest, they still had no idea how that had happened.

Both fillies cheered as they watched their Pegasus friend pick up speed and dash towards the ramp at a breakneck pace once more.

Scootaloo had been practicing this trick ever since the ramp had been finished, she had come up with the idea after analyzing her idol -Rainbow Dash-'s super speed strut.

She figured that if she could get enough momentum to hover for a few seconds she could preform a similar trotting motion in the air.

And with that in mind she was once again barreling towards the ramp, previous attempts hadn't gone well, she was covered in more scrapes, cuts and bruises in one day than she normally got in weeks.

This time, no errant pebble stood in the path between her and glory and with an elated cry she zoomed over the edge of the ramp and hit her air time.

Her cry of elation soon turned into a cry for help, she had gone higher than she had expected and they had not prepared a safe landing zone for her.

Oh crap! This is going to hurt. She was grateful for her helm at least, letting go of her scooter and closing her eyes she curled up into a ball as best she could and waited for the inevitable impact with the ground, which was sure to result in a broken bone or two from this height.

Instead she suddenly felt two hooves wrap around her midsection and stop her disastrous fall to the ground.

Unsure as to what had happened she curiously opened one eye, and then the other, looking at Sweetie and Applebloom waiting for her on the ground as she was being lowered onto slowly.

"Are ya alright Scoots?"

"You didn't tell us it was that dangerous Scootaloo..."

The orange filly merely blinked a couple of times, still trying to figure out what had happened, and then she glanced up towards her Saviour.

Silhouetted by the sun stood her inspiration and idol:  Rainbow Dash

"I uh.." she stuttered "Thanks for saving me Rainbow Dash." she lowered her head and allowed herself to be embraced by her friends.

"Scoots, that was dangerous! Why'd you do something like that?" The cerulean mare asked with no small amount of agitation in her voice.

The yellow earthpony and white unicorn both yelped as Scootaloo pushed them away and raced off, sobbing trailing behind her.

But no matter how fast she ran, she knew she couldn't outrun her idol, the fastest flier in Equestria and the only pony ever to break the spectrum barrier to create a Sonic Rainboom.

"Scoots, slow down!" she looked to her side and saw Dash keeping pace with her almost lazily, only occasionally flapping her wings to keep up her speed.

Grudgingly she slowed down and eventually stopped moving, sitting down on her haunches and lamenting her failure.

Dash furled up her wings and with a light hooffall landed next to the crying filly.

"Okay Scoots." she sighed "What's going on?

"I-I'm ss.. sho....sorry" her fan sniffed, "I only wanted to impress you."

She sighed again, it was always the same thing, Scootaloo looked up to her so the filly would do the craziest things imaginable to get in her good graces, such as driving her scooter of an eight foot ramp which had entirely the wrong inclination.

"Scoots, stop crying." The filly sniffed a few more times and used her hoof to wipe away the tears that were still rolling down her face before she started inspecting the dirt closely.

"Look at me." Scootaloo looked up hesitantly to see Dash's smiling face.

"I'm not mad." the weather pony wrapped a wing around the filly that reminded her so much of herself at that same age, "Nor am I disappointed or sad or any of those sappy things."

"Yo-you're not?" The older pony gently nuzzled her. "No I'm not, you want to be as awesome as I am, and to be awesome you sometimes have to try stupid things!"

Dash laughed and shifted a little, "You can't imagine how many times I've done something stupid."

She quickly sobered up.. "But that doesn't mean that I'm not concerned about you."

Scootaloo just nodded, "So you want me to stop using my scooter." she intoned, lowering her head and spilling more tears silently.

She looked up when Dash nudged her. And once again she found the smiling face of her idol. "No Scoots, I want you to learn how to fly. So I'm going to teach you."

It took her a few seconds to process those words Rainbow Dash wants to teach -me- how to fly?

She surprised the older Pegasus with a bone crushing hug smiling from ear to ear.

"Will you really teach me?" she asked, tears still in her eyes, but the biggest smile she'd ever had plastered on her face.

"Oh yeah scoots." Dash replied returning the hug as best she could from the awkward position. "Count on it."

They walked back to the ramp where Sweetie and Applebloom had retrieved her scooter and were trying to figure out what had gone wrong.

They had also managed to become covered in tree sap for some reason.

"Guys! Dash is going to teach me how to fly!" Scootaloo bounded towards her friends and hugged them tightly.

"Really?"

"Good on ya Scoots! When are y'all gonna start?"

Scootaloo looked at her new teacher in question.

"Right now Squirt! Spread 'em! And show me what you can do!"

And they came back with a vengeance.

Prompt: They came back with a vengeance.

"This oughta show 'em." With a grunt the farmer hefted the last of the ingredients into the machine which turned them into a fine paste with a loud crunch.

Applejack took off her trademark stetson hat and wiped the sweat off of her brow before turning to her companions. "How's things going ya'll?"

"Everything is on schedule Applejack!” Came the reply from her purple friend, who was levitating five barrels filled with the paste at the same time with relative ease. Distributing it evenly between smaller balloons “They won't know what hit them.”

“Should we really be doing this?” came the meek question from Fluttershy “I'm sure they didn't mean to cause such problems.” she warily eyed one of the balloons with the sticky substance before deftly tying it closed.

“I should say so dear.” Rarity said rearranging her mane “Whether or not they meant to is irrelevant  It has caused trouble for everypony in ponyville after all.” she levitated the small balloons into a cart and made sure they were secured tightly.

“Ah'll say, Ah can't believe the nerve of those two/” Applejack snorted “Ah still feel greasy, we all done?”

“Almost, just make sure you don't get any of that paste on you, I've improved the formula and this new version has more colors and won't wash out for weeks...”

The trouble had started with an idea had by ponyville's premier pink party pony: Pinkie Pie: exploding cupcakes... of which Rarity and her little sister had been the first victims.

It had then escalated when Equestria's fastest flier had become involved, Rainbow Dash had manged to convince Pinkie that it would be a good idea to use a similar formula to put into water balloons with which she could then bombard ponyville for laughs.

But this time they'd gone too far.

While the intention had been harmless enough the eggs were a tad more powerful than the cupcakes had been... what was worse, was that the grease Pinkie had used in her latest creations was natural pigment and what was supposed to be a short lived prank turned into a gigantic disaster with a lot of ponies being convinced they were going to die when the bright pink spots manifested themselves on their coats.

Things had settled down after a while ofcourse, as nopony actually died and it was observed that the pink could be washed out.. but finding the reason behind the spots had taken a long time.

Especially since the two perpetrators that had known about it had apparently disappeared from the face of Equestria.

Unfortunately for the duo, being best friends with the personal protege of the princess had allowed Twilight to craft a detailed location spell....

“Are you sure they're in there darling? It looks dreadful.” The white unicorn huffed, brushing aside a couple of low hanging branches as they made their way to a hut deep within froggy bottom bog that had started sinking into the muck.

“Yes Rarity, if my spell is correct, and I have no reason to doubt it, they''ll be hiding out in there.” Twilight levitated a whole slew of the balloon in her magic, and with her determined expression one might be forgiven for thinking she was about to go off to battle.

“Ah can't wait ta see them deal with the fallout of their prank.” Applejack had balloons which were a bit sturdier making it easy for her to buck them towards her targets with deadly accuracy.

“Let's make them pay for ruining our perfectly delightful spa treatment Fluttershy!” Rarity's expression was possibly even scarier than those of the other two ponies, almost openly scowling on the one hoof and grinning at the thought of sweet vengeance.

“Uhm... okay...” Fluttershy was the only one that had no balloons, simply standing on the side, waiting to see what her friends had in store for to the two pranksters.

“Geez pinks... how long are we supposed to hide out here?” Rainbow dash was flitting about the inside of small hut, she was getting antsy, she needed to fly!

“Just a little longer Dashie, Ponies can't stay mad for long!” Pinkie beamed before her ear flicked and she suddenly went uncharacteristicly quiet.

Dash who was watching her pink companion with interest noticed her change in demeanor immediately. “Uh oh, What's gonna happen Pinkie?”

“They've come for us with a vengeance...” the pink mare whispered, eyes wide as saucers.

“They what?!” Dash's eye went wide and in honor of her name she dashed to the door, ignoring Pinkie's cries of warning.

“Dashie wait!” Dash opened the door and found her other four best friends on the other side, holding and levitating what looked to be balloons, very familiar balloons...

“Mercy!”...... her plea went ignored.

Pancakes

Prompt: Pancakes

"Just take a cupa flour, add it to the mix." The mare hummed the tune as the words ran through her head until she realized she was humming and stopped to shake her head, every time she tried to bake something the song would get stuck in her head and refuse to let go, ruining her concentration and by proxy anything she was working on.

No, This time I'm going to do it! She levitated an egg and used her magic to neatly bisect it, dumping it's contents in the bowl with the butter and sugar; the batter was coming along nicely.

She stirred the batter-to-be until it was just the right density before slowly tilting the bowl and pouring it into a frying pan.

The dish she was trying to make would take a specific amount after all, too much and it wouldn't be edible, too little and the treat would fall apart before anypony could take a bite.

"Twilight!" The yell from the main room of her tree house startled her and made her spill nearly all the batter into the frying pan, completely ruining her first attempt.

"URGH!" Twilight Sparkle, apprentice to Princess Celestia, bearer of the element of magic, and town proclaimed culinary disaster banged her head against the kitchen counter, dispersing heaps of flour into little clouds of white, powdery dust.

Coughing she made her way to the door that separated the kitchen from the lobby, nearly stumbling over her purple assistant as he raced in the other direction.

"What do you want Spike?" She was in a foul mood, the treats were to be her gift for Pinkie's upcoming birthday party, but at the rate it was going she would never get six of them done in time.

Spike's nervous feet shuffling and his sheepish expression combined did little to improve it.

“I was wondering... would you mind if I went to visit Rarity? The library is clean-....-ish and I can do all the other chores tomorrow.” he said, looking at her with a hopeful smile.

Normally she would have berated him for his sloppy work ethic, it was imperative that the library be in good shape in case somepony decided to borrow a book after all.

But the fact that hardly anypony ever came in to borrow a book, combined with the fact that her assistant/little brother was more of a nuisance than a help today make her decide that giving him a day off wouldn't be such a bad idea.

She could always make him do double chores tomorrow.

She let out a well practiced sigh. “Alright Spike, you can take the day off to visit Rarity.”

“But!” she gave him a stern look “I expect you to work twice as hard tomorrow.”

As with anything Rarity related, the young dragon cheered and jumped three times his actual body size, which made her absentmindedly wonder if he had been taking lessons from Pinkie.

Spike hugged her leg and raced out the front door of the library, slamming the door so hard  the whole tree rattled and he nearly undid all the hard work he'd done that day.

Shaking her head Twilight returned to the kitchen and resumed her battle with the would be presents.

Remaking the batter from scratch was no longer a problem, she had done it so many times over the last couple of days that she could dream the whole procedure the only remaining and arguably the  biggest problem was in the pouring; she had several dozens of specimen to do research on waiting for her in the basement of the tree, but so-far she hadn't gotten it right once.

She once again carefully lifted the bowl containing the batter and started pouring it into the frying pan, tilting it back when the batter had formed a puddle in the frying pan.

After a little hustle and bustle and the puddle had become a nice round circle and she could try getting it right again.

Putting the pan on the preheated stove was something she had done with great reluctance after her attempts to heat the sweet treats with her magic had resulted in a singed mane, several burned specimen, and one case of kitchen fire.

Carefully inspecting the surface, and waiting for the right moment to flip the pan she glanced at the clock.

That should be long enough. She flipped the pan up, and groaned when the pancake stuck to the ceiling.

Her next attempt was slightly better, with only half of the disk missing the frying pan and landing on the floor.

By the time Spike came back from Rarity, Twilight had finally managed to bake pancakes, and it showed: Row upon row upon row of pancakes were stacked in the lobby of the library, some reaching all the way to the ceiling.

“Wow, Looks like Twilight finally got the hang of cooking.” he muttered to himself as he walked in between the rows of pancakes, making his way towards the kitchen to congratulate his boss/big sister.

In the kitchen he found the purple unicorn slumped over the kitchen table, groaning out loud and muttering curse words he hadn't known existed before now; and A bouncing pink earth pony that was juggling three frying pans filled with pancakes.

He decided to greet the unicorn first “Hey Twilight, I'm back.”

Twilight simply groaned in response and covered her head with her hooves.

“Hia Spike!” Pinkie chirped bouncing up to him while balancing a frying pan on her nose.

“Hey Pinkie, what's up with Twilight?” he walked over to the dining table and pulled out a chair for himself.

“She's just being a grumpy pants because she's no good at baking.” Pinkie flipped two of the pancakes simultaneously and caught both of them with the latest plate that would hold them.

“I made six of them!” Twilight shouted suddenly, “They were for your birthday!”

Pinkie Twisted her face around in a full circle, “Oh silly, I told you a few pancakes wasn't going to be enough for -my- birthday!”

Spike laughed out loud and Twilight sighed and slumped down again.

She was never making pancakes for Pinkie Pie again.

Bouncing is fun

Prompt: Bouncing is fun.

In the small town of Ponyville it wasn’t unusual to see a pink blur race/bounce/fly through the streets every day and most residents had gotten used to it.

What they hadn’t counted on was the second blur, crashing into things regularly and scaring most unsuspecting ponies with her flailing legs every time she was in the air.

“Wheeeee!”

The pink blur bounced through the town at what most ponies thought were impossible speeds. She ignored a few laws of physics, greeted everypony she knew, brought smiles to her friends and ultimately: she had fun.

And today she had finally found somepony with which she could share her joyful way of getting around. She twisted her neck a full one hundred and eighty degrees to look at the purple blur following her.

It was mimicking her bouncing motions but rather than providing the forwards motion she used it for, it ended up in a tree.

She bounced back to her student-for-a-day with a mere three jumps and craned her neck to look up at her bestest friend Twilight Sparkle.

“That’s not how you do it silly! you’re supposed to avoid obsta- obstu- things!”

She knew that if anything could get under the purple unicorn’s skin it was improper usage of language, and just as predicted Twilight’s groaning stopped and she shot Pinkie a glare that made even the normally cheerful mare cringe.

“I know!” Twilight jumped out of the tree and landed on four shaky hooves, “I just can’t figure out how you do it, it shouldn’t be possible.”

“That’s easy!” She replied “I just do this,” she reached into a hollow opening of the tree and pulled out a cupcake, “and then this,” she made the cupcake disappear into what their circle of friends had dubbed ‘the void’ and smiled at Twilight, “And then I coil my legs like this,” she lowered herself to the ground in preparation for a starter jump and held it “And after that it’s easy!”

Twilight’s heavy sigh and arched eyebrow weren’t replaced by a look of supposed understanding this time.

“Easy for you at least...” Twilight murmured.

Pinkie was just about to ask her what she was mumbling about when Twilight walked up next to her and assumed the same position again.

“Ready?” She waited for the horn to move down and up again before uncoiling her legs and bouncing off again.

They had been at it since Twilight expressed her desire to learn more about her pink friend.

And although Pinkie had been inept teacher, she had made up for it with eagerness never sighing in disappointment at Twilight’s failures and always supportive whenever she had nursed her bruises and felt ready to try again.

She didn’t feel at all confident that after today she’d be able to bounce as well as any of the more outgoing foals in magical kindergarten, let alone Pinkie herself.

Face it, that’ll never happen.

She spat out some leaves and rolled her shoulders sticking her head out of the brush to see her friend beaming at her.

“That was great Twilight!  You almost got it right that time.”  Pinkie was still doing her impression of a slow motion jackhammer while looking at Twilight.

Twilight sighed “You know I didn’t.... there’s no need to cheer me up Pinkie.”

“Twilight Sparkle!” Pinkie put on her best frowning teacher face, the effect somewhat ruined by a comically oversized pair of glasses he had pulled out of her mane.

“Bouncing is fun, and you’re getting better at it!”

Twilight sighed again and nodded “Alright then Pinkie, let’s try this again.”

--

The sun set over Ponyville and almost every pony rounded up their business, taking stock of the days activities and winding down in the comfort of their homes.

And then there were the two blurs which were bouncing through the town at breakneck speeds, trailing laughter and weird springy noises.

When they finally arrived at the tree which also served as Twilight’s library house they settled down.

“See? I told you bouncing is fun!” Pinkie’s hair hung limp with all the sweat a full day of bouncing brought with it but she was smiling widely at her partner in bouncing.

Twilight used her magic to take off the springs Pinkie had bound around her legs after the twentieth or was it sixtieth  failed attempt and levitated them inside the library while she herself turned to her friend and smiled.

“You were right Pinkie, Bouncing IS fun!”

She had expected Pinkie to smile and bid her goodnight but instead her pink friend nodded frantically before leaning over conspiratorially “Tomorrow I’ll need your help convincing Rarity.”

With that she bounced off leaving a groaning unicorn to stumble into the library to ask her small scaly assistant for a massage.

Bouncing IS fun... but Pinkie is exhausting...
