Chapter 17

Previous Chapter Next Chapter

A few days after Stargazer's execution, Twilight and the other bearers of the elements were attending the stallion's funeral. It was only the six bearers, Big Mac, Cadence, Starlight, Dizzy, Pearl, Granny Smith, and Blueblood. Celestia and Luna were at the hospital checking in on Spike while Sunburst was seeing to the rebuilding of Ponyville. Four guards carrying Stargazer's casket set it down on the small platform right next to the grave before leaving. "Does any pony want to say a few words?" Blueblood asked. Everypony was silent; especially Twilight. She had no idea why she even bothered showing up after what what he did tried to do to her and Spike.

"Ah got somethin' ta say!" said Granny as she approached the casket. "AHEM! Ashes ta ashes....dust ta dust....we bury this fucker....in the earth's crust."

*BAM*

In a single move that shocked everypony, Granny kicked the casket over into the hole; Stargazer's charred body falling out of it before the whole thing fell in. With a satisfied smile, Granny lit up a cigarette. "Now that that's done, ah'ma head home. Ah'm missin' mah stories."

"MA!" yelled Bright Mac.

"Welp, since he's in the ground already, pour the dirt on him so we can go home." said Blueblood.

"Your majesty, please, have some respect for the dead!" pleaded Pear Butter.

"He's dead, what's he gonna do?" Blueblood responded.

"YOUR MAJESTY!" Pear shouted in shock; causing Blueblood to groan.

"Find, i'll fix it." he grumbled. "Damn mare with her damn morals." Raising his hand, Blueblood levitated the casket out of the hole along with the charred body. It was the first time Twilight and the others got a real good look at it. Fluttershy buried her face in Big Mac's chest, while Applejack and Rainbow Dash cover their eyes. Pinkie and Rarity were so disgusted by the sight that the two of them threw up on their coltfriends while there was a loud gasp from all their mothers. Twilight didn't even bother looking as she believed whatever it was that happened to his body was too good for him. The alicorn simply stood up and walked away; not even bothering anymore. Blueblood placed the body in the casket, then set it back into the hole. "Now can somepony please pour some dirt over this asshole so we can be done with this storyline already!" the prince said. "We've got at least three more installments, one of which might retcon something that's already been established, a spin off featuring the CMC for some reason, and possibly a prequel before the writer ends this series that i'm not even sure HE knows what direction he's taking in!"

"YOU SON OF A BITCH!" Pinkie scream before launching herself at the prince; tackling him to the ground. Punches, kicks, and body slams from both of them ensued. After a few minutes, the two of them were separated with bruises all over their bodies. Rarity conjured up a shirt and used it to cover up Pinkie's exposed breasts since her shirt was ripped in the fight as both her and Blueblood yelled at each other while they tried to get free to fight again. It took the strength of nearly everypony around to keep them separated. While this was going on, Starlight went after Twilight and found her at the entrance of the cemetery.

"Twilight?" she said.

"Why did he do this?" she asked. "Why did he do ANY of this?"

"Jealousy can make a pony do dark things, Twilight." Starlight said; giving Twilight some space.

"He had nothing to be jealous over!" Twilight raised her voice. "Spike never got in the way of the two of us. He's always gone out of his way to leave us alone whenever possible. Even.....even after his attack, when the two of us left the party Pinkie threw from him, Spike did nothing to get in the way of that."

"Then there's only one explanation, Twilight, I don't believe he ever truly loved you." came Cadence's voice as she gently landed next to them. "I've seen his type before; the type that would do anything in order to keep you all to himself. It's clear that he never saw you as a mare, but as his own personal property. Maybe he did love you in the beginning, but it's clear that over time, he's love turned into obsession; wouldn't surprise me if he was planning to isolate you from everypony little by little." Twilight hugged herself and lowered her head; still in disbelief that this was actually happening. Stargazer was dead due to his actions against the royal family, and even tried to kill her along with himself in order to make sure that nopony else has her. The more Twilight thought about it, the more she came to realize that the signs were there all along. The subtle way he'd look at Spike and other stallions, his body language, and even his actions showed that he never liked anypony being anyway near her. Even going back to the party after Spike's attack when the two of them went upstairs for sex, did he lure her there just to show rub it in Spike's face? Or what about the night of the meteor shower where he tried to get her in the mood and she stopped it. He knew Spike was with them, so was trying to sleep with her in front of him? He was, wasn't he? As the seconds went by, Twilight started to feel guilty for everything that's happened; for not seeing the signs. If only she'd seen the signs of Stargazer's jealousy earlier, then maybe she could've prevented all of this from happening.

"No, Twilight, don't even think it." Cadence said sternly. "I've seen that face before, and you're blaming yourself."

"But it is my fault." she argued. "If I had just....."

"It wouldn't change the fact that Stargazer still betrayed you." Cadence cut her off. "If you've learn of his plot earlier, Spike wouldn't have been attacked that night by Goliath and his goons, but his heart still would've been broken."

"Cadence is right." Starlight chimed in. "That bitch still would've gone back to her mate, and left him alone. And Even if you broke up with him earlier than you did, he still would've made an attempt on Spike's life. There's no way around it." Twilight said nothing; opting to play every single scenario in her head where she caught on to Stargazer's plot. Each one she ran resulted the same way, Spike would still have been hurt in one way or another. His fate was sealed the second she allowed Stargazer into her life, but then again, even if she hadn't gotten with Stargazer, Spike still would've found his way to "she who shall not be named", only to be heartbroken later on without Stargazer's interference. He just sped up the process.

"Spike." she whispered as she realized Spike was gonna be hurt no matter what.

Celestia laid in the hospital with Spike in her arms as Luna may yet another attempt to enter his dream, but was denied access. "It's no use." she said. "No matter how hard I try, I can't get in." Celestia responded by holding Spike tighter while attempting to hold back her tears.

"Spike." she whispered. "Please open your eyes. Come back to me." Resting her head on top of his, the princess quietly sobbed. Luna, taking a seat next to the bed, grabs Spike's hand and brings it to her cheek. As Spike laid there unresponsive, the words of Stargazer and Dragon Lord Atomsk played in her mind. One telling her that she failed raising him as a proper dragon while the other told her that she should've left him to die on a rock. Dragon's scales are supposed to be extremely tough, and yet, Stargazer was able to stab him multiple times. Dragon's are suppose to have factors that causes them to heal almost instantly, and yet, Spike's factor take longer to activate. Celestia believed that because she didn't know much about dragon's, she and the others put Spike's life at risk many times. She did her very best to raise and care for him, and this is her reward for doing so? It wasn't fair. Spike didn't deserve this. He didn't deserve to have his heart broken, his life threaten, and once again put in the hospital. He deserves to be happy just everypony else. Does the universe hate him that much just for being born? The more Celestia thought about it, the more her heart broke. She swore that if Spike were to wake up, she'll do whatever it takes to keep him safe and make him happy.

A few minutes had passed before the doctor walked in. He was about to say something, but froze in complete fear when Celestia shot him a death glare. She knew that he was going to tell her and Luna that it was time to leave, and there was no way that was gonna happen. The doctor had no choice but to slowly back away; else he'd face the wrath of an emotional princess. "I don't get paid enough for this." he groaned as he walked down the hallway.

That night, Spike's room was filled with all his friends fast asleep. Each one dreaming about what was gonna happen once he wakes. Pinkie dreaming about throwing a recovery party form him while serving him a giant plate of Mr. Cake’s cheese stuffed pretzels, Fluttershy dreaming about him and her animal friends playing, Rarity dreaming about gem hunting with him like they've done before, only this time, the gems would be for him, Applejack dreaming about giving Spike a large barrel of of her family's apple cider and watching him drink the entire thing, Twilight dreaming about cuddling and kissing him on the cheek multiple times as shooting stars fly across the sky, Starlight dreaming about taking Spike to her hometown and introducing him to her family, and finally Rainbow Dash dreaming about.......getting back at Spike for making her submit to him during the mating process. It was something that was still on her mind, and once Spike recovers, she'll make him pay. While everypony slept, Luna continued to make an attempt to enter Spike's dream, but was still unable to do so. After multiple attempts, she decided to stop; mostly because of multiple ponies who need her help in their dreams.

In the bed, Spike laid in between Twilight and Celestia as the two alicorns cuddled against him. Twilight was the first to wake up and notice no change in Spike's condition. Tears started to form in her eyes as she watched him. "Spike." she whispered as she clung to him. "Please wake up." Burying her face in his neck, she quietly sobbed; begging for him to open up his eyes. Her sobbing fell on deaf ears as Spike continued to remain unresponsive.

In Baltimare, Sentinel stood on a balcony of his hotel room staring out into the night sky. "I lost to him again." he thought. "That damn lizard beat me again. I bet he's banging MY Twilight right this second just to rub it in my face." Sentinel's anger started to grow the more he thought about it. The mere thought of Spike's body rubbing against Twilight's was enough to make his blood boil. He didn't care about the five naked mares inside calling to him as the rubbed themselves with lotion which is extremely rare. Sentinel began plotting another revenge scheme against Spike; believing that he was gonna rise victorious this time. He spent minutes standing outside thinking about what he can do to humiliate Spike and take back what's rightfully his, and then, it came to him.

"That's it." he said. "That's how i'll do it." Reaching inside his pocket, he pulled out his cell phone and dialed a number. It rung three time before somepony answered it. "It's me. I know how we can get back at that lizard. The you-know-what is coming up, we can do it there. I'll meet up with you tomorrow and we can sort out the details." After hanging up, Sentinel turned his attention towards his mares and made his way inside to join them.

"All that's left to do now is play the waiting game." he thought.
