Quest of a Nobody
Chapter 10: The Shade Files I
Previous Chapter Next ChapterAs our heroes are having their well deserved rest, there is great commotion in the city of Trottingham. The cause was quite predictable.
-The city of Trottingham-
”Run! The monster will eat us!”, Cried a mare and ran into a house and locked the door.
”Oh, I will if these things won't shut up about it.” Said Shade, in a rather irritated tone, as he let go of the now unconcious town guard. There was a line of thirteen knocked out guards behind him, to those who bothered to count. There was only one more in his way.
Shade just gave the guard a glare, his glowing eyes narrowing. The guard comically fell over, petrified stiff like a statue. Shade just walked over the petrified pony, and continued his way.
”Seriously! You bite one guy and you get branded as a cannibal. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but sheesh!” He yelled, tucking his hands into the pockets of his coat, leaving his thumbs out.
There was something particular Shade was looking for and he wasn't going to let anyone or anything stop him.
”Where the hell do I get booze in here?” He yelled to no one in particular. Naturally, he got no response from the street he was walking, which was pretty empty. Only a few ponies and some diamond dogs and griffins had the guts to stay outdoors. And even them were too scared of the man in the dark coat to even try to get in his way.
”Man, is this place quiet. My room in the loony bin had more noise than this.” He said to himself. ”Let's see.” He looked at his mental checklist
1. Find the most ragged down bar you can find. They have the best stuff. (Working on it)
2. Beat up some lawkeepers for no apparent reason and fuck teh pohlice. (Check)
3. Burn an orphanage.
4. Get a diamond sword. (Pending)
5. ???
6. Profit.
He let out a sigh. Then he looked at his pocketed hands. ”Holy cow, I have pockets!” He said, as if making a great discovery.
”But first of all.” He said and scouted around. He spotted a place that just screamed 'filthy bar, we have poison in our drinks'. ”That place seems so shady it could be the base for criminals. Time to get me some booze!” He literally hopped to the bars direction. On the door he stopped, looked at the small sign that read 'The Poison Apple' and couched. ”Time for a dramatic and subtle entrance.” He then proceeded to kick the door of it's hinges.
The door flew across the room and hit a group of five of diamond dogs who were playing cards in the corner. Two of them were knocked out and the table was shattered. Everyone stared at the scene, slackjawed. Then they turned to the place where the door used to be and saw the dark coated figure step in. Shade took a deep breath. ”Hmmmm. Smells like blood and tears of the oppressed. I like this place already.” He said gleefully and stepped further, not minding the suspicious, wary and hostile looks he got. He sat on a stool in front of the bar. He gave the barkeek a look of utter glee. ”Give me the strongest thing you've got. And no, I don't care if it kills me.”
The barkeep eyed Shade. He was a stallion, whose face was stern and coated in suspicion. ”You are going to pay for that door.”
This got a few gigles from Shade. ”Didn't you hear me the first time? Or are you just senile?”
The barkeep grunted angrily but pulled a bottle from under the table. He threw it to shade who grabbed it and looked at the label. ”The Black Death, eh?”, he mused at the name of the beverage. ”Hehe. This should be good.”
Before he could even take the cork off, the bottle was swatted out of his hands, smashing to pieces and spilling it's contents to the floor. Two big and angry looking diamond dogs sat on either side of him.
”You disturb our game.”, Dog A said angrily.
”We not like that.”, Said Dog B.
”Strike one. Barkeep, another.” Shade said, as if he hadn't heard anything. Another bottle was thrown to him, this ones fate pretty similar to the last.
”Didn't you hear us? We said we not like that.” Dog A said.
”Now apologise and no one get's hurt!” Dog B yelled.
”And strike two. Another.” Shade chimed. As the barkeep gave him another bottle and Shade was about to take a sip..... Well, why don't you just take a quess at what happened. The contents of the bottle were on the floor yet again.
”Don't play games with us!” Dog A shouted next to Shade's ear.
Shade stayed quiet for a few seconds. ”Barkeep.” He said in a tad more serious tone than what he usually did. ”I'm going to apologise in advance.” Before the barkeep could say a thing, Shade had taken a good grip on the back of the dogs heads and he smashed them at the serving desk. The desk broke and so did the floorboards when the heads of the diamond dogs collided with it.
”That was strike three, fuckers! You just can't take a hint and let a guy enjoy his booze, can you?”, He said loudly and kicked their faces a little deeper into the floor.
Everyone in the Poison Apple stared at the scene. Safe to say, many jaws hit the floor simultaniously. The barkeep just stared at Shade angrily. ”You are going to pay for that too.”, He said, sounding very annoyed.
Shade got up from his chair. ”Just give me a goddamn drink.”, He said. Barkeep just rolled his eyes and threw Shade one more bottle, this one labelled 'The Deathly Hallows'. He snickered at the name. ”Oh, Harry Potter. You are amazing.”, He said and took off the cork. Finally he was going to get his long waited drink. As the bottle reached his lips,
*CRASH*
An loud noise accompanied by a tremor shook the whole building and made Shade drop his drink. He watched as it slowly shatter on the ground.
”What the hay was that?”, Barkeep wondered out loud. He looked at Shade, who didn't appear to move at all. ”Hey, kid! You allright in there?” His question was not answered. He soon started to feel a tingle in his spine. He didn't like the feeling.
Shade finally moved, but not towards the door. He walked over to the near wall and stopped. Everyone looked at him, all beginning to feel the tingle in their spines. Then, Shade lifted his fist and punched the wall. Accompanied with an explosion of wooden shrapnel, there was now a gaping hole in the wall. Everyone at the bar just stared, not believing their eyes.
The barkeep looked ready to explode. ”Now listen here-” And that is as far as he got. He felt something that made the words stay in his throat.
There was something around Shade. A wavering visible force. A blood red aura that radiated all over the bar. The manifestation of pure, unrefined rage.
Shade walked out to the street through the hole he had created. There he saw a large creature attacking a group of guard ponies that were trying to get it under control. It had destroyed a large building, which was the source of the tremor.
The creature was quadruped, almost feline like. It's hide was dark purple and black with a few blue lines on it's head and back. There were three magenta tendrills on it's back and on both sides of it's face. It's mouth was jagged and it's eyes yellow. The tip of it's tail was magenta and it had four spike sticking out of it. It's limbs had four purple claws each and on it's forelegs were two shackles with hooks on the other end.
(You know, this thing)
The creature was flailing at the guards, swatting them away as if they were mere flies. It roared at the unicorn guards who were keeping their distance and firing magic at the beast. It merely shooked it off. They were nothing but bugbites to it. It turned and saw the man in the dark coat approach and lunged at him.
As the beast ran towards him, Shade just cast an angry glare at it. The aura intensified, the beast's eyes widening slightly. It froze and tried to turn and run away.
“Stop right there.” Shade said in a cold tone. The beast, to the guards utter amazement froze in place. As Shade walked closer to it, it was petrified by the feeling he was radiating to his surroundings. It felt something completely new. It was afraid.
He stopped in front of the creature and looked at it straight ot the eye. “Do you have any idea what you just did, beastie?” He said, his voice chilling like the coldest night. “I was about to get my first taste of booze in twelve years. You know what happened? You made me spill it.”
The beast was now visibly shivering, even though it was much larger than the coated man, and so were some of the nearby guards. “You know what that means?”, Shade asked the beast. It slowly shook it's head. “Too bad. I quess I'll have to show you.” He said and kicked the beast to the face. Immidietly afterwards, he gabbed one of the tendrills on it's face and used it to smash it's head to the ground. He raised the beasts head from the ground, only to smash it down again.
The beast was audibly wimpering and looked very scared. Shade grabbed the sides of it's head and looked at it with angry eyes. “I'll let you off easy this time. If I ever see you again, destroying or attacking anything, I will kill you. Do I make myself clear?”
The creature nodded vigorously and wimpered. The guards were actually starting to feel bad for the thing. “Good.”, Shade said and let go of the beast's head. “Now get out of here!” The beast, not wishing to see if the black coated man changed his mind, dashed out of the city as fast as it could.
Shade's anger begun to fade away. “Well, now that that's taken care off-”
Shade looked behind himself. There were an small army of non-scared guards, a big pony with golden armor standing in front with the barkeep of the Poison Apple. “That's the one who destroyed my bar!”, The barkeep yelled.
Green Shield looked at Shade with a stern expression. “What do you have to say for yourself, criminal?”, He spat out the words.
Shade raised his finger to answer. “Run!”, He said and, suprise, suprise. Ran away.
“Get him!” Green Shield ordered and all the guards gave chase.
Shade just kept running. All this for one lousy bottle of alcohol. And he didn't even get that! “Why is the rum allways gone!?”, He yelled at the sky as he tried to lose the guards.
Shade is in Trottingham, causing havoc. Only for a single bottle of booze. Which he doesn't get in the end. We also see some of his very, very rare ultimate rage. Oh, and he also made a giant Soul Fragment run away in terror. But next time, we will rejoin our heroes.
So, The Shade Files will tell of the mishaps of Shade on his little adventures. These chapters will be told in third person and usually make little to no sense and are badly executed, so sorry.
