In depths of the Everfree Forest Fluttershy was mediating in front of the Tree of Harmony. She had left her cottage for days at a time to be truly one with the forest, Big Mac often took care of her cottage while she was away, a voice spoke to her (Open you eyes, you must open your eyes.)

Fluttershy opened her eyes which were glowing green with wild magic (Who’s speaking to me?)

The voice spoke it’s again it’s tone less urgent, it was soothing almost like a mother speaking to it’s child (Turn around, I am speaking to you.)

Fluttershy turned around to see Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Pinkie Pie were floating around the tree, it sighed (I managed to save your friends from the dissapearance but Equestria is gone, I have no idea of why but it has.)

Fluttershy frowned (What will you have me do.)

The Tree of Harmony frowned (Head to this town, you will meet a friend and a potential friend in need of help.) Fluttershy frowned as she saw the town amidst the empty dusty plains in the middle of nowhere, Fluttershy nodded (Very well.) She burst into the air far above forest and began flying to the isolated town.

Meanwhile Twilight was sitting in the council room “Tirek do you have anything to add?”

Tirek frowned “I did find a village with a powerful unicorn in it, she has devoted her life to removing Cutie Marks of any pony she meets.”

Discord growled “How dare she, I grant Ponies a gift and this one seeks to destroy the gift I gave them.”

Twilight frowned “What do you mean gift you gave us, explain?”

Discords frowned “Well it was like this…”

Discord and Mystica bowed before a giant yellow glowing dragon like serpent “King Storm Shadow what is your wish?”

Storm laughed “Relax, I want you to watch over this world.” He showed the a flaming ball of rock “It possesses a unique core made of pure mana, it has locked it’s star and moon in place because of it.”

Discord nodded “We will not disappoint you?”

Storm smiled “I know you won’t.”

Discord and Mystica flew away from him, Mystica grimaced “I don’t think this is such a good idea, it is a lot of responsibility.”

Discord nodded “Yes but someone needs to do it, you and I are the only ones available for the next million years.”

Mystica sighed “You’re right, fine let’s begin.”

Discord nodded, the two flew to the planet. Mystica frowned “It is the only planet here and it has an average yellow dwarf star, hmm.”

Discord frowned “Well to start let’s cool off the surface so we can then plan things out.” He conjured an enormous ocean of water dropping onto the planet, both cooling it and covering seventy percent of it in water.

Mystica growled “What the fuck, that is way too much water for a planet of this size?”

Discord facepalmed “Do you not know how much water it takes to create life, a whole bunch?”

Mystica frowned “Why do we have to create life, it a chaotic mess that cause incredibly damage to our pure perfect planets.”

Discord grimaced “We exist to bring life to worlds. it’s our function in the universe what is the point of all the perfect orbs sitting around doing nothing until they are destroyed by their suns. No they are here to fuel life so that one day that life may outlast them.”

Mystica frowned “Fine then let’s begin making life.” They created themselves a floating castle at which they could watch the world, Mystica spent billions of years trying to create the perfect harmonic organism while Discord began creating creatures willy nilly leaving the world covered in hordes of strange creatures. Dragons, Griffons, Minotaurs and Zebra just to name a few species that rose to prominence out of the chaotic mess Discord created.

Meanwhile Mystica had just created her perfect species, an incredibly intelligent Equine species and in complete harmony with themselves. She ran over to Discord “I did it, I created my perfect species the ponies they are in complete Harmony look.”

Discord grimaced “They also weak and incapable of protecting themselves, look.”

Harmony watched in horror as her little ponies were hunted by the predators of the world being slaughtered in the thousands, she scowled “Your chaotic creatures are destroying my creations.”

Discord growled “I didn’t make them that way, they earned their right through centuries of change. I simply planted the base of life and let them slowly grow and change to suit the world as it changed and grew as well, you created something that can’t adapt and now it is dying because of it, that is your fault so fix it!”

Mystica spent years watching as her ponies huddled in caves barely surviving, she came up with a solution as she blessed them with magic but she failed to account for the fact they had no outlet of such power and some even exploded from magic build up. Mystica watched as centuries past her ponies dwindling in numbers as she created more and more to try to make up for the losses, she looked at Discord “How do fix this, how do I save them.”

Discord shook his head “You refuse to change them, to modify them yet they are dying.”

Mystica shouted “They are perfect, this shouldn’t be happening.”

Discord shook his head “They are perfectly harmonic and that is exactly the problem life is a naturally chaotic thing, I’m going to save them and change them because you aren’t willing to.”

Discord’s voice boomed across the world, everything stopped “Ponies, I grant you two gifts, first that of variance” he sent out three glowing orbs full of magic, one headed to the ponies of the fields that gave them the power of the earth, it granted them superior strength and stamina as well as a natural connection to the land, to the warrior mountain ponies who tried to fight against their fate he gave the power of the skies which granted them the ability fly as they grew wings as well as the ability to command the weather and finally to those who sought knowledge he gave them the power of fire, that allowed stem to harness magic to create powerful spells.

He took a deep breath before smiling “Second, that of purpose.” On every adult pony a different mark appeared on their flank which would strengthen certain aspects of themselves.”

Discord smiled “So that’s the story.”

Tirek frowned “So you are the one who made ponies the way they are, that changes a lot of what I thought.”

Twilight frowned “As interesting as that is I believe we should find this village, if this unicorn can remove Cutie Marks maybe she can use time magic as well.”

Discord nodded “Well let’s go, I believe Tirek can get us all there within the day.”

Sunset frowned “Right well let’s go I’d rather not take too long to get there.”

Luna turned around “Well then we better get ready and then go to this village.” The group began preparing not knowing what they would find in the village.
