“Why don’t we nix the academic angle entirely and just write a book together!?”

Twilight’s ears perk up. “Write a whole book? I-I’ve never done that...well, ever!” She grins widely. “Ohmygosh, this is going to be so much fun!” She clops her hooves together immediately after speaking, her eyes shut in pure joy.

“With all the research we’ve done, we know everything there is to know about writing love stories. We can start now if you want.”

Twilight gasps. “Yes, please!” She cranes her neck toward the library’s door. “SPIKE! SPIIIIIIKKKEEEEE!”

After the echo of her voice off of the crystal walls of the library fades, only silence remains.

“SPIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII-”

“HORSEFEATHERS!” a faint but enraged call echoes back from somewhere else in the castle. “WHAT IN EQUESTRIA DO YOU WANT, TWILIGHT!?”

“PUT ON A POT OF COFFEE!”

“WHY?”

As Twilight inhales to begin her next salvo of yells, you stop your efforts to politely avoid cringing and instead cover your ears as best as you can.

“BECAUSE IT’S GOING TO BE A LATE NIGHT IN THE LIBRARY!” She looks back at you quickly. “Maybe that’s a good title to use?”

You force yourself to smile and nod ingratiatingly at the excited Princess of Friendship.

She turns her head back to the door. “SO, GET YOUR SCALY LITTLE BUTT DOWN HERE ALREADY!”

“ONE OF THESE DAYS, TWILIGHT, SO HELP ME…”

“WILL YOU TWO BE QUIET!? I’M TRYING TO WAX MY KITES!” a third voice screams from yet another undetermined locale within the castle.

“CAN IT, STARLIGHT!” Spike calls.

“SPIKE, DON’T YOU DARE TALK TO STARLIGHT LIKE THAT! AND STARLIGHT, DO NOT MAKE ME MOVE YOUR COUNSELING OFFICE TO THE BROOM CLOSET!”
