Chapter 1: Prologue

Prologue

The roars of fire, pain, and the universe filled my ears as I run side by side with my parents as we enter the Forbidden Forest. In a desperate act, my parents and I ran into this forest in hope that Dictator Manemare hasn't launched his space pod yet. I was tired, but my hooves kept galloping along with my parents. They ushered me to keep going, because we would reach safety from the universe's dying breath. As much as I hated it here in Nivaeh, it is my home, and I feel heartstrings ripping apart as many other ponies are fighting for the useless safety of homes, underground rooms, etc.

"Aww mother of!...Okay which was was it again?!" Radiant Stars, my father, asked his wife. I looked down the two pathways to see if the bright shine of the space pod's reflective metal would appear.

"It's to the right. Don't worry, Radiant Tear. Come..." Lunar Tears, my mother, reassured me as we galloped to the right of the split pathway. I ran and ran, hearing more screams of agony as we followed this path of small hope. After several minutes later, I couldn't take it. Fatigue has a small hold of me and I slow down. My father noticed and stopped in front of my path, kneeling down.

"Climb on my back son! We are almost there and cannot waste anymore time!" Radiant Stars commanded me. I climbed on and held on as my parents galloped faster toward the Dictator's own Space Pod. It was built by our family, and would hold all the Radiant and Lunar family. But Dictator Manemare decided to confiscate it and use it for her and the whole staff of the House of Leadership, where the previous leader, Alicorn King Dread-Light, ruled with an iron hoof. Soon, we arrived at the launch center for our space pod. It seems that it isn't even guarded.

"Huh...Manemare is getting a bit sloppy. No guards at all..." Lunar Tears gazed around the place. No one was here.

"This is suspicious. She might have known we were coming. But let's go anyway, we'll lock the doors once we're in. Radiant Tear, if nothing goes according to plan, just hide in your own cryopod. Do you remember where it is?" My father asked me.

"It's Cryopod 3, up against the central pillar of the pod." I nodded and answered. He smiled and we walked up the stairs. We walked up to the door and he typed in the code.

"T-W-I-L-I-G-H-T...PASSWORD CONFIRMED...DOOR OPENING......." this was shown on the computer screen. My mother's eyes swelled with tears and smiled as the doors opened.

"We'll be able to leave this godforsaken planet now! Go in Radiant Tear, in your cryopod and we'll initiate the launch sequence!" my mother pushed me in the space pod. They both took off their necklaces, which were the keys to start the launch cycle. As they inserted the keys in the console and turned it to the direction of the door, they were both shocked by a stun rod, held by Manemare herself. I turned toward the door and saw her. Her appearance couldn't have been more dreary, for she was cut, bruised, and had most of her clothes torn off. Her hair was down and across her face, having the looks of a serial killer. I ran toward the doorway and pressed the red button that locked this pod from Manemare.

"What the?!" Manemare ran towards the door and banged against the door. "Open this up! I am the dictator of Nivaeh! I will give the execution order for you!" She yelled in anger. I walked in front of the pod window so that she sees who I was. She was more angry than before and tried bashing the window open, but it proved worthless. The only thing the stun rod did was create a small spark on the door and slip out of her grasp, landing onto the grass below the platform.

"LAUNCH SEQUENCE WILL BEGIN IN T-MINUS 1 MINUTE." A voice came out of the console loud enough to be heard in a 5 mile radius. Manemare growled and kicked my parents up.

"If I go down, I'm taking your parents with me! Say your goodbyes to your parents kid..." Manemare said as my parents got up. Radiant Stars got up and hoof-kicked Manemare off the platform. She landed on her own stun rod and was shocked to death. Lunar Tears typed the code for the door to open, but it wasn't opening.

"Son, open up the door from the inside...unlock it!" my father asked, banging on the door. I pressed the button again, but I was shocked by it's touch. I pressed again, but nothing worked except for a spark on the button.

"No...no no! NO! Her stun rod short-circuited the door and it won't open!" I bashed on the door. My eyes materialized tears. I was going to lose my parents. They were the only thing that motivated me to keep going, despite all the things that happened to me. "We have to keep finding a way!" I placed my front hooves on the glass window, staring at my parents face-to-face. "I don't want you to die!"

"Son, you were the one that made a big difference in everyone's lives. Whether you knew it or not. You proved that not all alicorns are as bad as everyone thought. Despite everyone's criticism towards us, you always showed kindness towards all of them. We love you." my mother spoke in her most sincerest voice ever. I looked down, hiding the tears that were dripping off my face. They placed one hoof on the windows, matching it to mine.

"Radiant Tear...within the central pillar is a supercomputer mainframe that holds everything known to us. A wire will connect into your neurological systems and you will meet an A.I. She will teach you all you need to know...good luck son. We'll be in your heart." my father said as his eyes flooded with tears. I walked towards Cryopod 3 and waved goodbye to them.

"I love you...I won't ever forget you." I said to them as I laid down inside the cryopod. They walked away from sight and I saw the devastation on the city outside the forest. The countdown started.

"I will treasure your promise mother and father. I won't change and I will give our knowledge to the intelligent lifeforms out there." I thought.
