A complete rework of Fall of Eqeustria: Liberators, this will have a slightly darker tone than the original, with less sci-fi presence and more realistic warfare in WWII terms. It will feature gore, swearing, and what you'd expect in a Fall of Equestria story.
Prologue-France, 1944
"Run, Sweetie Belle!"
"I am running!"
"There's no time for talk! Just keep moving!"
Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo nodded to each other and continued to run as fast as their hooves and wings could carry them. The Everfree was not the place for fillies their age to be, but this time was an exception.
Going into the Everfree meant survival. Three months ago, the Caribou Stonehooves, under Dainn, had invaded Equestria in a savage, brutal attack. Everywhere the Caribou went, slavery and depravity followed. Manehattan, Las Pegasus, even Canterlot had crumbled under the Caribou onslaught. The Royal Sisters had been subjugated into Dainn's concubines, and Cadance and Shining Armor were brainwashed by the reshaped Crystal Heart.
Until a week ago, the only safe haven was Ponyville, and Twilight Sparkle. Until the Caribou launched a secret attack that had overwhelmed Ponyville's defenses. Twilight had realized her time had come, so she have given the three fillies an important mission.
Take the Element of Magic and head to the Castle of the Royal Sisters.
Twilight had moved the Mirror Portal there, knowing how the Stonehooves would use such an artifact. She had enchanted it to send the three of them to another world, far from Equestria. Once it was done, it would destroy itself to prevent the Caribou from using it.
The plan was sound, however getting there was the problem. The fillies knew they had no time whatsoever to waste, and every moment brought them closer to the Caribou's iron grasp.
"There's the portal!" Applebloom cried. "C'mon!"
As the three fillies entered and crossed the rope bridge, Applebloom hastily bucked the supports. As the bridge collapsed, they ran into the castle itself and closed the ancient gates.
====
"Okay, take a breather." Scootaloo said. "The Caribou can't be far behind."
"They're onto us, that's for sure." Sweetie Belle replied. "Where's the portal?"
"Twilight said it was in the library." Applebloom said. "Remember, we only get one shot at this."
The three of them nodded and sprinted to the library, and there sat the mirror portal. As Sweetie powered it up, Applebloom sent up a silent prayer to whatever god was listening.
"Let's go!" Sweetie said. As the three of them reluctantly jumped into the swirling vortex, it closed behind them. The mirror then cracked and shattered into a million pieces, closing it forever.
====
As Twilight Sparkle was forced to the ground by Caribou warriors, she didn't put up much resistance as they bound her tightly. She smiled inwardly, knowing that the Cutie Mark Crusaders had succeeded.
She just knew it. As she was dragged away and chained to her bed, King Dainn himself surveyed the captured town.
"My King." a warrior said. "We have captured the town and are subjugating the females as we speak."
"Good." the King replied.
"There is one small complication."
"What?" Dainn asked, curious.
"During the attack, we believe three young females escaped into the forest. Shall we go after them?"
"No." Dainn said. "They will starve soon enough. Where is Twilight Sparkle?"
"On her bed, sire." the warrior said. "She is ready for your gift."
"Good." Dainn said, licking his lips in anticipation. "I will enjoy this thoroughly. I am not to be disturbed."
As Dainn entered Twilight's Castle, the captured citizens could only cry and lay in anguish at the ensuing screams.

Northern France, Europe
July, 1944
Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo rolled to a stop and looked around apprehensively. They were in a boreal forest, and from what they could tell, they were safe.
"Where are we?" Sweetie Belle asked, clutching the Element of Magic.
"I don't know." Scootaloo replied. "But we should get moving, and find out who lives here."
As the three fillies set out, Sweetie Belle seared a small line in an old tree to mark their location.
===
The three fillies found themselves to be lost within an hour's time. Sweetie's magic reserve had run out about ten minutes ago, and if the thunder in the distance was any indication, they would need to find shelter soon.
"I'm scared." Scootaloo said. "And hungry."
"Don't forget tired." Sweetie Belle added. "I'm exhausted from all that walking."
"Wait, what's that up ahead?" Applebloom pointed. In a clearing up ahead lay some kind of factory or large house.
"You sure?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Beats this." Apple Bloom replied. "Let's go and see who lives there."
As the three fillies approached, they saw a door marked with a strange language, and a four-pointed, bent cross. As they knocked, they heard an old voice inside speak.
"Scheiss! Damn Nazis...I told them already I am working as fast as I can…"
As the door opened, the fillies saw a bipedal being wearing a lab coat look around. He seemed old, with glasses and graying hair. As he looked down at the three of them, he gasped.
"My god…" he gasped. "What am I seeing? Come inside, now!"
Before the three could protest or even ask a single question, they had been pulled inside by the being and sat down on a large, tan couch. The being sat down on an old armchair, and sighed.
"My apologies for my sudden action." he asked. "Can you three understand me?"
First he spoke in a strange language, then he spoke in Equish. At that, the fillies nodded.
"Yes, we can." Sweetie Belle said. "I'm Sweetie Belle. That's Applebloom and Scootaloo. What's your name?"
"Dr. Erik Breighner." the being replied. "I can see that you speak English. Where are you three all from? And what are you doing here on Earth?"
The fillies sighed, and told him of Equestria, and how the Caribou had come and destroyed everything they loved.
Their homes burned, their loved ones captured, their rulers enslaved. Through it all, Erik listened intently.
"I see." he said. "That is quite the story."
"Don't you believe us?" Sweetie asked, in shock.
"Oh, I do." Erik replied. "Are you hungry? Thirsty?"
"Yes, very." Scootaloo said. The man left, and brought back a variety of simple foods, from bread to fruits and vegetables. The three fillies ate their fill, and smiled.
"Thanks, Mr. Erik." Scootaloo said. "Is this your home?"
"Heavens, no." Erik laughed. "This is my office. At least, my office according to the Nazi dogs."
"Nazees? Who are they?" Sweetie asked, pronouncing the German with difficulty.
"The Nazis are some of the most despicable, pitiful excuses for humans we have ever seen." Erik said. He then told them of the world they were now in, known as Earth.
He told them of the First World War, and how the Great Depression ruined the economy of Germany. They sought a solution, a leader that would solve their problems.
He told them of Adolf Hitler, who brought about the Second World War in his madness. He told them of the horrible crimes Hitler committed against his own people.
He told them of the Allies, the nations of the West that were coming to free them. From the war-weary British to the heroic Americans.
Finally, he told them of who he was. Once a professor of theoretical Physics at a University in the Rhine, he had been kidnapped by the SS and Gestapo to serve on a top-secret project created by Hitler himself.
Unendlich. A program to create the world and technology of tomorrow. Over the course of the war, the Unendlich sites were destroyed for fear of them being discovered. The scientists and engineers who worked on them project all executed one by one, to prevent capture by the Allies or the Russians.
Now, Dr. Breighner was the only one left.
"Now, the program here is all I have left." Erik said. "An experimental Warp Nexus, designed to move troops and equipment across the continent with ease."
"Like teleporting." Sweetie said. "Moving from point A to B in a second, right?"
"Yes." Erik said. "Something like that. It is currently below us, in an underground cavern. However, I have work to do. I must signal the Americans of our presence here. They will want to speak with you."
"Why?" Applebloom asked.
"If there's one thing the Americans like, it's fighting for a just cause." Erik said. "I have a radio with me, one I can use to contact them. Come, we don't have much time."
As the three fillies hopped down from the couch, Erik brought them over to a large black box with plenty of dials and switches. Erik flipped a switch, and a light glowed red. As he fiddled with the dials, he smiled once the signal went through.
"To all American forces in the area...my name is Dr. Erik Breighner. I am a Theoretical Physicist in employ of the German government. I have critical information in my possession that will aid in ending the war. I and three special individuals are at these coordinates."
Erik listed a string of letters and numbers, and continued.
"These individuals are of highest value, and I beg you to come quickly. I do not know if the Nazis are listening. Please, come soon."
As Erik sat back, the fillies came a little closer.
"Mr. Erik?" Sweetie Belle asked. "What'll happen when the Americans come here?"
"I do not know." Erik replied. "I ask that you let me do the talking. They're much more likely to listen to a human rather than a pony that resembles something from a children's story."
The three fillies nodded.
"You should rest." Erik said. "I'll keep watch for the Americans."
As the three of them settled back on the couch, Erik draped a thin blanket over them. Soon, all three of them were asleep from exhaustion.

US Army Headquarters
Northern France
Sergeant James Redford, Badger Company, 1st Army.
"Sergeant, you got a minute?"
Sergeant james Redford turned away from cleaning his M1 Garand, to see another American Soldier run up, out of breath.
"You're needed in the radio tent."
"Thanks." James replied, slinging his rifle over his shoulder. As he walked through the base, he wondered what sort of job needed done in the radio tent. As he approached, he could hear voices.
"...When did this come in?"
"Just now, sir. I've got coordinates, too."
As James entered, he froze. Generals Patton, Bradley, and Eisenhower were standing near the radio, looking over a transcript.
"Sergeant!" General Patton boomed as he saluted. "Take a look at this."
James was handed a clipboard with a paragraph of written lines. As he looked over it with shaking hands, he looked at the Generals.
"What do you think of it, son?" General Eisenhower asked the soldier, who sighed.
"I ask permission to speak freely." James asked.
"Permission granted." Eisenhower said.
"I'm honestly not sure what to make of this." James said. "The Germans have developed a lot of strange weapons. If we could get our hands on some of them, it would help. On the other hand, this could be a trap."
"I see." General Bradley said. "Sergeant, how many men do you have?"
"Six others in my team, sir." James replied. "We're ready to go if needed."
"Then get moving." Patton said. "Find out what's at these coordinates and recover what you can. I have a good feeling about this."
"Yes, sir!" James replied. "I'll report back when we've reached the target."
"Good man." Eisenhower said. "I suggest you head on out."
James saluted, and headed out towards the mess tent. As he entered, he called out.
'"Badger Squad, rally up! The Generals gave us a mission!"
"Yes, sir!" came the six replies. James counted off as the seven men headed out.
Corporals John Keller, Ty Wilson, and Bryan Cox, along with Privates Thom Jackson, Tim Drake, and George Nash. As they assembled their gear and weapons, Nash asked what the mission was.
"We've gotten a radio signal from a German scientist." James said as the soldiers readied up. "He wants picked up, along with three others. Apparently he's got critical information regarding the Nazi's weapons program."
"Neat." Drake said. "Sounds like some kind of top-secret thing to me."
"Says you." Keller replied. "Alright, we're set!"
As the seven men headed out towards the marked coordinates in a pair of Jeeps, Sergeant Redford focused his eyes on the road ahead.

Chapter 1-First Contact
As the two Jeeps hummed through the forest, Sergeant Redford looked around at the foliage, eyeing every shadow in case of an ambush.
"So, Sergeant?" Drake asked. "Who gave us this mission?"
"Generals Eisenhower, Patton, and Bradley." Redford replied. "I'm not sure what to expect here, gentlemen. Keep your weapons ready."
"Yes, sir!" the soldiers replied. The Jeeps hummed along for a while, until Redford held up his hand. The cars slowed to a stop, and the troops disembarked.
"This it?" Wilson asked.
"Yep, checks out." Nash replied, referencing his map. The soldiers had arrived at a large factory, with a small house built into the front. As they approached, the door opened and revealed Dr. Breighner.
"Ah, the Americans." he spoke in accented english. "I am Dr. Erik Breighner. Come in, but be quiet. You'll wake my guests."
The Americans glanced at each other, then they nodded. As they stepped inside, they froze in their tracks.
Sleeping on a couch were three small equine beings. One was white with a horn. Another was pale yellow with no discernable features. The last was orange with wings. They were currently sleeping underneath a blanket.
"What the hell is that? What are they?" Cox asked.
"The first alien visitors to Earth." Erik repled. "Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo. You'll be surprised to hear that they speak English."
"Jesus Christ." Jackson cursed. "How'd they get here?"
"A portal of some kind from their homeworld." Erik said. "They fled from a race very similar to the Nazis that were taking over their lands. Apparently the leader of that race had very...passionate ideas about gender superiority, if you get my meaning."
"I see." Redford replied. "How long have they been here?"
"A day, at most." Erik replied. "I fed and lodged them here."
"That's enough about the aliens." Redford asked. "What about the intelligence you said that you have?"
"Right here." Erik said, handing the Sergeant a briefcase marked with the Nazi flag. "I will also show you the project I have been working on."
Erik moved a bookcase aside, revealing a stairwell.
"Private Nash, stay up here." Sergeant Redford ordered. "If those beings wake up, you come get us, alright?"
"Yes, sir." the soldier replied. The other six followed the doctor to an underground bunker, full of scientific equipment.
===
"What is this place?" Jackson asked.
"The final lab of the Unendlich Project." Erik replied. "The Nazis were attempting to build the technology of the future in the present. Most often, we failed. The only successful device was the Rift Nexus."
"What's that?" Wilson asked.
"A machine capable of moving nearly anything from a human to a tank from Point A to Point B in an instant." Erik replied, showing them the massive, ring-shaped device. "However, it was deemed too unwieldy, and left here to rot."
"We could use something like that." Keller shrugged.
"You could." Erik said. "However, it requires a power source I do not currently have."
"Do the Nazis know about it?" Redford asked.
"Partially." Erik shrugged. "I am the last of the Unendlich program. The others were shot when their projects failed."
"Brilliant." Redford sighed. "You can explain further to General Eisenhower. What about the three aliens?"
"They'll be coming with me." Erik said. "You, and most likely your Generals, will want to hear their story."
"I agree." Redford sighed. "I think it should be in person, though."
"Oh, certainly." Erik said. "We should go."
"Right." Redford said. "It'll be a tight squeeze, but we should have room in the jeeps. Alright, let's go!"
"What about that thing?" Jackson said, referring to the Nexus.
"I've already gutted it to the point where it cannot work." Erik said. "Have your planes level this place."
"Fine." Redford said. "Let's go!"
As the soldiers headed back upstairs, they saw something surprising. The three beings were awake, and were currently listening to Nash telling them war stories.
"So, our Tanks literally rolled over the Germans." Nash said. "It may not have been pretty to see, but it was funny as hell."
As the three fillies laughed, Nash saluted.
"What the hell are you doing, Private?" Redford asked.
"Keeping them occupied, sir." Nash replied. "So, this is my commanding officer, Sergeant Redford."
The three fillies waved.
"Alright, we need to get moving." Redford said. "Nash, seeing as you're the most comfortable around them, you get to explain all this to General Eisenhower."
"Shit. You serious?" Nash replied.
"Partially." Redford smiled. "Alright, let's go men!"
As Nash picked the three fillies up, the soldiers brought Erik to the Jeeps. Placing the fillies down in the back, Redford took the wheel.
"Alright, let's get a move on!" he said. As the two Jeeps hummed ot life and ran off, Erik turned to the three fillies.
"Is this thing safe?" Applebloom asked.
"Yes, it is." Erik said. "Though I have never been in one of these "Jeeps", I am enjoying myself immensely!"
"I'll take your word for it." Scootaloo said. "I still prefer my scooter."
====
As the two Jeeps reentered the base, Erik and Nash helped the fillies to the ground, in full view of every American soldier in the area. While they walked to the command tent, the three fillies could hear the whispers.
"What are those things?"
"Hell if I know, man. You think they're friendly?"
"I dunno, but they look cute."
"Alright, that's enough!" Redford yelled. "Button it up soldiers and leave them alone. They've had a rough night."
The Soldiers nodded and reluctantly returned to their business. The ten of them reached the command tent, and Redford lifted the tent flap.
Inside were three men wearing jackets. One had a stern and no-nonsense face. Another was a bit older, but seemingly kinder. The last had his arms crossed with a smile.
"Sergeant Redford reporting, General." Redford said. "This is Dr. Erik Breighner, and the intelligence."
As Drake handed Patton the suitcase, Eisenhower raised his eyebrows.
"Who are they?" he asked the Sergeant.
"I can explain." Erik said. "They are the first aliens to visit Earth. And they have a story you'll want to hear."
"Well, let's hear it." Patton boomed. "I'm George S. Patton, Jr."
"Omar Bradley."
"Dwight Eisenhower." Ike said. "So, what can you tell us?"
The three fillies gave them their names, and told them of the Caribou conquest of Equestria. At the end, Patton's face was searing red.
"Those bastards!" he boomed. "Despicable sons of bitches!"
"That's enough, George." Eisenhower said. "I'm sorry you had to experience that. Where's this portal now?"
"It closed behind us." Sweetie Belle said. "I'm not sure we can go back to Equestria."
"That's incorrect." Erik said. "The Rift Nexus can take us there. I'll need time and resources to rebuild it, however."
"We'll deal with that later." Eisenhower said. "Well, I think it's safe to say that the President's going to be very interested in this."
"You sure?" Bradley asked.
"Mr. Roosevelt's a good man, and he'll know what to do." Eisenhower replied. "Until then, you three will remain in our custody."
"Okay." the three fillies said.
"And as for you, Sergeant...you and your men will be escorting them to Washington when the time comes." Eisenhower said. "I want this done diplomatically."
"Yes, sir." Redford replied.
"Alright, Sergeant, you and your men are dismissed." Eisenhower said. "Applebloom, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, I have a few more questions if you're up to answering, along with Dr. Breighner.."
As the men left the tent, they noticed several soldiers were standing nearby, eavesdropping.
"Get back to work!" Redford boomed. The soldiers scattered, and Redford rolled his eyes.
"So, secret's out?" Jackson asked.
"Most likely." Redford groaned. "Let's leave that to the Generals. For now, let's get something to eat."

Chapter 2-Appearances
"Is that everything?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Yes, I believe so." Eisenhower replied. "Are you hungry, thirsty?"
"A little." they said. "But we don't eat meat."
"I figured." Eisenhower said. "Come on, you three. Let's see what we can find."
As they all exited and headed for the mess, soldiers all around them stopped and stared, until glares from Patton made then resume their work.
"General?"
They turned to see Sergeant Redford approach.
"We've got a group of war correspondents at the mess hall. Some bastard spilled the beans about those three being here."
"Damn." Patton cursed. "I'll deal with it."
As the eight of them entered the mess, several men were speaking with the troops, all wearing a jacket marked with "PRESS", and bearing cameras.
"All of you!" Patton boomed, making everyone jump. "Outside, now!"
As the soldiers made a hasty exit, the press noticed the three fillies sheltering behind Sergeant Redford and General Eisenhower. They approached warily, not sure if they were hallucinating.
"Alright, take a seat." Eisenhower said. "I can explain."
"We can explain." Scootaloo said, drawing the reporters' attention.
"Scoots…" Applebloom said.
"I'll be fine." Scootaloo said. "The Caribou can't get to us here. I'm not scared of telling about what happened to Equestria."
As the reporters murmured in shock and disbelief, Scootaloo eyed the cameras.
"Are you taking notes?" she asked.
"Yes…" one man said.
"Good." Scootaloo replied. "You'd better."
She and the others, for the third time, told the reporters about Equestria and the Caribou conquest, and ending with a solemn plea for help. As Scootaloo sighed when she finished speaking, General Eisenhower came up.
"Rest assured, these three are in the protective custody of the US Army, and will remain so until they reach Washington and speak with President Roosevelt. I also ask you not to release this information until they are out of the combat area, and out of harm's way. Am I clear?"
There were nods and voices of affirmation.
"Good." Eisenhower said. "Now, I bet Sweetie Belle and her companions are hungry, thirsty, and tired, so let's give them some privacy, shall we?"
As the reporters exited the tent, the fillies sat down and sighed as one.
"What's wrong?" Sergeant Redford asked.
"It still seems like yesterday that we were just school-age foals." Sweetie Belle said.
"Now, we're stuck in another world, without a friend to be seen."
"Not true." Redford said. "I think you're a friend."
The three fillies flinched.
"As much as I've seen, you three could really use a welcoming hand, and I'll make sure you get one." Redford continued. "Besides, if you're worried about meeting the President, don't be. He's a great example of mankind's best qualities."
"Why's that?" Applebloom asked.
"Well, back in the 30's, the US and the world with it was stuck in a really bad economic depression." Redford said. "Really tough times for everyone. A lot of people credit President Roosevelt with helping to end it. If anyone will know how to work this whole thing out, he will."
"Thanks." Scootaloo said. "I didn't get your name."
"Redford." he replied. "Sergeant James Redford, US Army. Now, I've got some rations with me, so eat up."
As he produced several boxes and various canned foods, the three fillies smiled.
====
"How are we going to handle this?" Bradley asked once the Generals were back in the command tent.
"I'll handle telling the President." Eisenhower replied. "We'll need proof, but a series of good photos should solve that problem. But the people back in the US? That's the real kicker."
"I agree." Patton said. "We can say all we want, but there are going to be people out there who are going to think we're insane, or worse."
"True." Eisenhower said. "We'll leave that to President Roosevelt. Now, I've got a letter to write, and ask one of those reporters if they can take a photo."
"Right." Patton said as he and Bradley headed to the mess.
====
To the amusement of both Generals, the three fillies were having a good time listening to some of Sergeant Redford's stories about the mena in his team.
"So, Nash walks right into that hedgerow, all gung-ho and shit…" Redford said. "He's expecting a German MG nest, but guess what's actually there."
"What?" the fillies asked, holding their breath.
"A snake." Redford laughed. "A really big, motherfucking snake, and Nash just yelps, swears at the top of his lungs, and he fell right on his ass trying to get away from it. The rest of us just start laughing our asses off, and he's silent the rest of the patrol. The snake just moved away like it didn't have a shit to care about."
The fillies laughed, and Scootaloo sighed in amusement.
"Is Nash okay?" she asked.
"Yeah, he is." Redford said. "Guy hates snakes more than anything. Says one could bite clean through his thumb if they wanted. Personally, I'd rather not find out."
As the two Generals came over and sat down, Patton chuckled.
"That's quite a story, Sergeant." he said. "You three okay now?"
"Yep." Applebloom said. "What now, Mr. Patton?"
"We'll be taking a photo to send to the President." Patton replied. "And then you and your team, Sergeant, will be taking them to Washington when the President is ready to receive them."
"Yes, sir." Redford replied. "Anything else?"
"Not that I know of, soldier." Bradley said. "Let's get that photo taken, shall we?"
====
After the photos were taken, the fillies were ready for bed. Lo and behold, the only available room was in Sergeant Redford's tent. After finding some blankets and setting up a makeshift pillow, the three of them slid under the covers.
"Thanks, Sergeant." Scootaloo said.
"No problem." Redford replied. "I'll wake you in the morning for breakfast at 0700 hours. That's 7 AM. You fine with that?"
"Yep. Goodnight." Applebloom said.
"'Night."
Soon, all of them were asleep, and as Eisenhower put the finishing touches on his letter to the President, he sighed, knowing that the results of this were completely unpredictable.
"Here goes nothing, or everything." he said as he gave it to the soldier in charge of the mail. "Make sure this is on the first ship back to the US. Am I clear?"
"Yes, sir." the soldier replied. As Eisenhower headed to bed himself, he looked up at the stars with a wistful sigh.

Chapter 3-The Speech Heard 'round the World
As the birds began to sing with the dawn, the CMC blinked their eyes open and looked at Sergeant Redford, who was also rousing himself.
"Morning." he said.
"Morning." the three fillies replied. "How'd you sleep?"
"Fine, I suppose." Redford said, slinging his rifle over his shoulder. "Let's go get some grub."
As the four of them exited the tent and headed for the mess, Redford managed to scrounge up some food for the three of them.
"Eat up." Redford said. "It's probably the best you'll get for a while."
The three fillies nodded, and as they ate, Sweetie Belle gave a sigh.
"What's wrong?" Redford asked.
"I'm worried about my sister back home…" she said. "I don't even want to know what the Caribou are doing to her…"
"Hey, it'll be fine." Redford said, reassuring her. "I'm worried, too. I'm worried I might not make it home to see my girl. I'm worried I'll make a bad call and lose good men."
"Then how do you deal with it?" Sweetie Belle replied.
"I deal with it one day at a time." Redford smiled. "You know, when I enlisted in 1941, a lot of people thought I was insane. Two weeks later, we get attacked by the Japanese at Pearl Harbor. I knew war was coming, I just didn't know it'd be like this."
"Wow." Scootaloo said. "By the way, you got any more funny stories?"
"Oh, plenty." Redford smiled. "Let me tell you about the time Drake got on the wrong side of some motor oil and a tank engine…"

The White House
War Correspondence Office
The secretary took one look at the telegram from General Eisenhower and immediately dashed for the Oval Office at breakneck speed. As he dashed past the Secret Service, he stopped breathless at the desk of Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
"What is it?" he asked.
"General Eisenhower just sent a telegram." the secretary replied. "Says it's for your eyes only, and it's something big. It took three sheets of paper to get all of it."
Roosevelt raised his eyebrows. General Eisenhower was rather short and pointed with telegrams in most cases. As he read through the three pages, his eyes widened with each sentence.
"Is this real?" he murmured. "Goddamnit, Get my Cabinet in here as soon as possible!"
====
"Mr. President, are you sure that it's real?"
"I am sure." Roosevelt replied to Secretary of War Henry Stinson. "Have you read it yourself, Mr. Stinson?"
"If it is real, this is probably history in the making." Vice President Truman said. "The Brits and the Russians, Hell, everyone would freak out knowing there are aliens in France under US Army custody."
"General Eisenhower has photos incoming from France." Roosevelt continued. "And though I agree this will open a large can of worms that will most likely be very messy, we need to deal with this diplomatically."
"How?" a General said. "You've told us that they're just children! How are they going to react…"
"They'll deal with it when the time comes." Roosevelt said. "This is the first time in human history we've had...visitors, and I do NOT want this situation going south because we were paranoid! Am I clear?"
There were nods of assent.
"Now, Eisenhower says that he'll bring them here in two to three weeks." Roosevelt said. "I want the National Guard on standby in case of trouble. Alert the radio and newspapers that I'll be giving an address at that time, along with these beings. Furthermore, I want that photo in my desk and only in my desk when it arrives. Am I clear?"
"Yes, Mr. President." the Generals and Cabinet replied.
"Good." Roosevelt said. "Make arrangements for lodging. I'll deal with whatever skewed words come my way regarding this. Especially from Congress."
====
Two Weeks Later, near Washington DC.
===
"There it is." Sergeant Redford said as the fillies peaked over the railing of the ship. "The United States of America."
It had been quite a time for the three fillies. Once General Eisenhower received word that the President had received his telegram, he had made arrangements for a passage to DC, under heavy escort. Before that, the fillies had secretly been moved into London and onto a battleship under the cover of darkness. Though the Fillies had expressed they wanted to see the city, they had been told there'd be another time.
Now, Badger Team and Sergeant Redford were their escorts to America, and their journey was almost over.
"So, what can we expect when we arrive?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"The President, First Lady, and Vice President should be waiting for us." Eisenhower said, as Redford saluted. "Then, it's off to the White House to prepare for the public reveal."
"We will have to speak?" Sweetie Belle asked.
"Possibly." Eisenhower replied. "It's not ruled out, but it might help your cause."
The three of them nodded as the ship came to a stop. As they disembarked, two men and a woman were waiting for them. One of them men was waiting in a wheelchair.
"So you're the three visitors I've heard so much about." the man in the wheelchair said, smiling. "I'm Franklin Delano Roosevelt, President of the United States. My wife Eleanor, and Vice President Harry Truman."
As greetings went around, three black cars approached, marked with the Presidential Seal. As they were ushered inside, Sergeant Redford sat with the Fillies, while his men took a pair of Jeeps.
"So, Sergeant Redford…" Roosevelt said. "I am pleased to report that Dr. Breighner has nearly finished plans for the Rift Gate project. I've also contacted several experts to assist him."
"I'm happy to hear it." Sergeant Redford said. "They going to spill the beans?"
"Considering that I made it clear, face to face, that it was top-secret, no." Roosevelt smiled.
"That's a relief, sir." Redford said. "May I ask a question?"
"Shoot."
"How are we going to...you know, introduce them?" Redford asked. "It's not like we can just have another Fireside Chat with them."
"Why not, Sergeant?" Roosevelt replied. "The people of the US trust my voice, and I'm sure they'll trust them."
"If you say so." Redford said as they approached the White House. As they entered, a small dog came up to the three fillies and began to wag its tail.
"Hello, Fala." Roosevelt said. "How'd you sleep?"
Fala barked in response.
"I take it that's an affirmative." Truman said. "Let's go over to Capitol Hill."
====
That Night
6:00 PM, Joint Emergency Session of Congress
====
"We all set?" Roosevelt asked Truman, who nodded.
"National Guard is out on the streets, and we've got all major broadcasters here." Truman said. "We're waiting on you."
"Let's not keep them waiting any longer, then."
As Roosevelt entered the chamber, the three fillies secured behind him, Congress rose to applause.
"I thank you, gentlemen and women of this Congress for meeting on such short notice." Roosevelt said. "I'm sure many of you are concerned about the war in Europe. However, there is a new concern that emcompasses humanity itself, one that has come to our world in their desperate hour."
As the three fillies came into full view, the entire Congress gasped as one.
"As you can see, everyone, we are no longer alone." Roosevelt said. "I'll let them introduce themselves, and state their cause now."
As the fillies spoke their names, the tension across the nation tightened like a drawn bowstring.
"We came here because we need your help." Sweetie Belle said. "Equestria was once peaceful, until the Caribou came."
"They destroyed our cities, burned our homes, and sold every female into slavery." Applebloom said. "We had to listen to one of our Princesses being raped as we ran away."
"We ended up in France, and we met the US Army when they came to pick us up." Scootaloo said. "They've taken good care of us, but our home is still in danger."
"We couldn't fight the Caribou." Sweetie Belle said. "We couldn't do anything as we were forced into slavery. But you...you can."
"We're not diplomats, nor generals, or great statesmen." Apple Bloom said. "But you are."
"We're begging you, save Equestria, save our home." Scootaloo finished. "Thank you."
As they departed, Roosevelt spoke once more.
"We have already begun developing a device to transport armed forces to their world, thanks to blueprints captured from the Germans. And once this device is rendered operational, we will go to Equestria and show these Caribou our strength, our power."
"However, now is not the time. Our own conflicts continue to divide us. Until the tyranny of the Nazis and Imperial Japan are toppled, we cannot fight this war. But it will be fought, in time."
As Roosevelt continued to speak, the fillies headed over to Sergeant Redford.
"So, you're not leaving immediately?" Apple Bloom asked.
"Yeah, we'll leave for Equestria as soon as the Nazis and the Japanese are defeated." Redford said. "Rest assured, though. We'll be going over as soon as it's done."
As the fillies watched Roosevelt conclude his speech, there was silence.
Then, the loudest roar of applause anyone had ever heard. As cheers and whoops of readiness echoed around them, Redford smiled.
"Seems we're right behind you." he said. "As it should be."
Soon, the fillies had countless interviews, countless photographs, and countless small speeches. They knew that Equestria would be freed…
If only they could endure the wait.

Next time-Two Years pass, and under President Truman, the US Military ships out from Colorado, through the Rift Gate to Equestria.
And their first target? Ponyville.
Chapter 4-Two years, Seven Months, Six days
Two Years, Seven Months, and Six days Later…
Colorado, Rift Gate Headquarters
====
"Sweetie Belle, it's time to get up." said a familiar voice. "Today's the day."
Sweetie Belle, now a solid twelve years old, looked at Scootaloo, who was buzzing with excitement.
"It is." Sweetie Belle said, looking at two wall calendars, posted above her bunk. "Where's Apple Bloom?"
"Waiting on you two." she said, coming in. "Sergeant Redford's waiting for us in the mess hall."
As the three young mares headed out, they smiled at the mass of troops, tanks, and airplanes currently mustering beneath them. This was the beginnings of Operation: A LIGHT IN THE BLACK, the Allied invasion of Equestria.
So much had passed in the time since the three of them had come to Earth. After a speaking tour across the United States, they had returned to London and met with the English Crown, and finally visited London Soon after, the end of the Second World War sent them down Broadway with confetti flying everywhere. So much had happened, but not all of it was good.
President Roosevelt passing away, Harry Truman taking the oath of office...it was so surreal. Scootaloo still remembered the man like he was still alive and with them.
And today, they were heading home.
"Hey, you three!"
They turned and smiled at former Sergeant, now First Lieutenant Redford and Badger Team, who approached with smiles.
"Today's the day." Redford said. "I'm leading the first few squads once we hit the ground."
"That's right, Lieutenant Redford." Scootaloo said. "Is everything set?"
"The Rift is primed and ready." Redford said. "We're waiting on President Truman to send us off. Speaking of, once we've cleared the area, we'll be heading towards this Ponyville town that you told us about."
"Sounds good." Sweetie Belle said. "Lead the way."
As the three of them followed Sergeant Redford to the massive staging area, Dr. Breighner and President Truman stood near the main switch.
"All functions are stable." Erik said. "We're waiting on your word. If my calculations are correct, and with luck, we'll end up near Ponyville."
"Good." Truman said. "We all set?"
"Yes, sir." Eisenhower said. "All troops are green, and follow-up units are en route."
"Then let's get a move on."
As Truman threw the switch, the massive ring-shaped gate filled with white energy, then it took the form of a small, woodland clearing.
"Word is given." Truman said.
"All units, this is General Eisenhower." the veteran leader said. "Introduce yourselves to the Caribou bastards."
"ROLL 'EM OUT!" Redford yelled as the entire mass of forces lurched as one. As the three mares held on tightly, they entered the vortex and all went white.

Canterlot Dungeons
====
Twilight Sparkle gasped for breath as she lay in her cell, bound tighter than ever. Her horn, while not removed, was covered in a substance that prohibited magical buildup. Ever since the Caribou invasion barely a year ago, lots had changed.
Her friends were scattered to the winds, and the males had taken hold of their new positions of power. Mares were advertised on the streets of cities, and Twilight herself had been publicly raped by Dainn on the anniversary of the invasion. The Caribou were growing fat on the plunder of Equestria, and they were certainly enjoying it.
Every night, Twilight prayed to whatever deity was listening for help, for freedom.
Little did she know, that freedom was coming very soon...and with a righteous vengeance.
====
As the bulk of Operation: White Herald's forces arrived on the plain opposite Whitetail Mountain, the engineers immediately set to work building a base and beginning work on an airstrip.
"Lieutenant Redford." Eisenhower said to the veteran soldier. "I have your first mission."
"What is it, sir?" Redford said.
"You'll be taking Ponyville in three hours, under Operation Overlord ll." Eisenhower said. "I've rallied a few tanks to support you. From what our scouts can tell, they've barricaded the town with a single gate."
"You want us to kick it down?" Redford asked.
"Kick it down and kill any Caribou that crosses your path." Eisenhower replied. "Once we're clear, rally up and prepare for a counterattack. We'll have air support ready as soon as the runway's finished."
"Roger that."
Redford and his team mounted up on a trio of Jeeps mounted with machine guns, bordering three Sherman tanks, titled "Curb-Stomper", "Wicked Witch", and "Road-Hog."
"Where's Scootaloo and the others?" Drake asked.
"They'll arrive once we've secured the town." Redford replied. "Let's go, we don't have time to waste!"
As the six vehicles rolled out, the three mares headed to the command tent to speak with Eisenhower.
====
As the US forces reached the outskirts of Ponyville, a crowd of Caribou guarded the gate.
"Want us to ram it down?" the driver of Wicked Witch asked.
"I've got a better idea." Redford replied. "Kill the guards, make as much noise as possible."
"...Oh, I get it. You're on." the driver of Road-Hog replied. As they moved into position, Keller picked up a rock and hurled it at one of the Caribou.
"OW!" the warrior replied, grabbing his spear. "Who goes there?"
As the US Army emerged and Redford hefted up his rifle, the Caribou blanched as one.
"Your worst nightmare, motherfuckers." Redford yelled. "OPEN FIRE!"
====
The occupying Caribou of Ponyville woke up to loud blasts of thunder and cracks of sound, shattering the relative quiet of the town. As the Caribou rushed towards the gate, the General in charge, Ralko, roared as the gate opened.
"Who dares attack us!?" he roared. "Show yourselves!"
As the gate ascended and revealed the US Army, Redford smiled again.
"If you insist." he smiled before opening fire with his M1 Garand. As the Caribou scrambled back, the tanks rolled into the field, each priming a very large and highly-explosive invitation to hell for whoever was on the other side.
"FIRE!" Redford yelled as his soldiers opened up, cutting down the Caribou. "Take them out!"
As the Caribou screamed and ran, the remaining Caribou soldiers approached…
...and several puddles of yellow liquid appeared below their legs, once they saw their attackers. As they were shot to pieces, Redford grabbed one of the survivors by the hoof and forced him to the ground.
"Where are the ponies at?" he barked.
"In the slave pens!" the Caribou replied. "Don't kill me!"
"Didn't say please." Redford said, shooting the Caribou in the head. "Move up!"
As the Tanks rolled into the plaza, blowing apart scores of Caribou, Redford growled at the sight of stocks and other cruel instruments strewn about.
"Tear this bullshit apart!" he yelled. "Burn it down!"
"Yes, sir!" Wilson said as he toppled over a set of gibbets before igniting the wood. As the soldiers advanced, more and more Caribou came to the slaughter.
====
As the chained slaves of Ponyville awoke due to the cacophony outside, Applejack groaned.
"Damn, what's going on?" she moaned.
"I don't know." Rarity weeped. "Oh, Celestia, have mercy."
As the noise slowly ceased, the door opened to their pen, and everypony there gasped as one. Redford and Badger Team entered, heads held up high.
"Who are you?" Cheerilee asked in fear.
Redford smiled at her.
"We...are freedom." he replied, uprooting the peg that kept their chains locked in place. "We are the United States Army, we came to help."
As the mares looked on in shock, the rest of Badger Team began unlocking their chains, untying restraints, and removing collars. Redford sheltered them outside, where the surviving Caribou were held at gunpoint.
"Any of them move, shoot 'em." Redford ordered. "Eisenhower, this is Badger."
"We read you." Eisenhower said over the radio.
"Town is secure." Redford smiled. "Send the calvary."
"Incoming."
As the former slaves watched in awe, the full might of Operation: White Herald entered Ponyville. Tanks, soldiers,and jeeps soon occupied the full of the town, and US Army medics were treating the wounded. As Rarity and Applejack watched, three familiar faces ran straight for them.
"RARITY!" Sweetie Belle cried, lunging for her sister and embracing her. Rarity's eyes filled with tears as she returned the hug, sobbing.
"Sweetie Belle, you've grown so much." Rarity sobbed. As Applebloom and Applejack broke apart, Apple Bloom smiled.
"You've changed a lot." Applejack said. "You don't even look like my little sis anymore."
"A lot has happened." Applebloom said as they watched the soldiers escort the Caribou to a holding area. "And we brought help."
"We brought more than help."
The citizens turned to Eisenhower, who spoke loud enough that their souls were lifted.
"We bring liberation for all Equestria."

Chapter 5 - The Hawkeyes
It didn't take long for news of the human arrival to reach Canterlot. As soon as the information reached King Dainn, he ordered a detachment of reinforcements to Ponyville, via a modified train. The Might of Dainn, as it was called, resembled a spiked behemoth of a war train. Heavily armed and armored, it was said nothing in Equestria could stop it.
Nothing in Equestria being the key word. However, as the train departed, they didn't notice an Army Piper Cub flying recon overhead...
===
"It seems we have more visitors." General Eisenhower told Twilight as they surveyed the captured and dead Caribou. "One of our spotter planes saw a massive train heading towards us."
"The Might of Dainn." Twilight replied. "I've heard rumors, seems they were true. It's apparently impervious against ground attack."
What about an aerial attack?" Eisenhower asked.
"Maybe. The Caribou have always relied on captured technology over their own. They never developed airships like we did." Twilight replied. "What's your plan?"
"Well, I'll show you." Eisenhower said. "Private!"
A nearby soldier stopped at attention.
"Radio Gateway Field." Eisenhower said. "Tell our P-47 pilots there's an awfully big target coming straight our way along the railroad. Hit it hard and fast."
"Yes, sir!"
As the private scampered to a radio, Twilight perked an eyebrow.
"What's a P-47?" She asked.
"I'm glad you asked." Eisenhower replied. "The P-47 Thunderbolt is our premier ground attack aircraft. During the Second World War, the Germans would surrender at the sight of them. Considering a team of them carry enough explosives to level a city block or two, I'm still inclined to believe it."
As Twilight raised her eyebrows at the sound of roaring engines, a team of seven P-47s flew overhead towards the railway.
====
Lead Pilot James Clark, 5th Air Wing, USAAF
Fighter Squadron 7, callsign "The Hawkeyes"
====
As the P-47s streaked towards the incoming train, James motioned for his fellow Pilots to take a ground assault formation. Two of the P-47s broke off in order to patrol for enemy air units, while the other planes lined up with guns loaded.
"There's the target!" called one of the pilots as the Might of Dainn came into view, belching black smoke. "Look at the size of that thing!"
"No shit!" another added. "I can't wait to blow it sky high!"
"I bet they'll see it in Ponyville!" continued a third.
"Cut the chatter!" Clark ordered, nosing down slightly. "Begin your setup!"
As Clark's P-47 lined up with the approaching train. Clark hit the release for his payload of bombs as the train entered his sights.
===
One moment, the Caribou aboard the train were sitting quietly. The next, they were flying about and screaming as the Train took a bomb directly to the engine. The train began to somersault like a gymnast as more and more bombs hit their marks at or around it.
Then came the sudden, sickening crash that followed. As the Might of Dainn came to a careening halt, the remaining survivors filed out with their wounded.
As the Caribou took up defensive positions, Clark's P-47 turned around for another pass.
"Eden Field, this is Clark." he radioed. "The target has been stopped, the Caribou have wounded on the ground. What's our plan?"
"Clark, this is Eisenhower." came the reply. "Hit them with everything you have. Do you have any bombs left?"
"No bombs left, sir." Clark replied as he aimed his plane down. "But I've got bullets, and my guns are hot and ready."
"Good plan." Eisenhower said. "Once you've made two passes, head back to Eden to refuel. Friendly ground forces will secure the sight. Remember, two passes at most. That's an order."
"Understood, sir. Two passes." Clark said. "Heading in now."
As Clark's gunsights lined up, he pulled the trigger...and forever made the Caribou fear the skies.
====
"WATCH OUT!" a Caribou warrior screamed as the P-47 piloted by Clark cut down multiple Caribou like wheat in a field. As the plane flew off for his second pass, several Caribou fired arrows at the incoming Thunderbolt...and they missed.
As the Thunderbolt emptied his ammunition and flew back towards Eden Field, the Caribou took several deep breaths and looked to the skies in fear.
"What were those flying...demons?" one asked, shaking with nerves.
"I don't know...I don't think even King Dainn knows…" another said.
The Caribou were so paralyzed with fear, that the US Army troops that soon arrived to capture them found no resistance.
Whether it was due to the element of surprise or the P-47s, nobody could tell for sure.
====
As the survivors of the train attack were escorted to a rudimentary prison camp, Eisenhower took a jeep to Eden Field. After a drive that lasted a couple of minutes, he disembarked to see the dispatched P47s land on the runway.
"General!" Clark said, approaching to salute. "Target destroyed."
"Good work. Just so you know, we could see the explosion from here." Eisenhower smiled. "You've earned some rest, gentlemen. Keep it up."
As the Hawkeyes left for the barracks, smiling all the way, Twilight approached him and smiled.
"It seems the Caribou are telling the other prisoners of your "flying demons"." she said. "Should we stop them?"
"I don't think that's necessary." Eisenhower replied. "They can talk about it all they want. The Germans did back in the War, and they still ended up losing."
"I see." Twilight replied as they began the drive back to Ponyville. "What's next on the agenda?"
"I was going to ask that myself." Eisenhower smiled. "Driver, to the command center!"
====
Occupied Canterlot, Throne room
====
As Dainn sat on his throne, with Celestia and Luna kneeling before him, a messenger appeared, trembling.
"What is it?" he asked.
"The forces we sent to Ponyville have been...defeated." the messenger said. "The train was attacked from the skies."
"Oh?" Dainn asked, his anger momentarily sated. "Tell me what you know."
"Those who escaped told us flying demons came from the skies, and cut our forces down. They moved and killed so fast, the survivors gave no resistance."
"I see." Dainn replied. "Bring my generals here. I have need of their advice."
As the messenger bowed and left, Dainn smiled as he turned to the window, standing up from his throne. As he leaned on the windowsill, he eyed the setting sun in the distance.
"This war has only just begun, humans." he growled in quiet fury. "Soon, you will know my wrath."
As he swept his cape aside and exited the throne room, Celestia and Luna made sure he was out of earshot before speaking.
"I hope these humans will come soon." Luna gasped. "I cannot stand much more of this torture."
"Stay strong, sister." Celestia replied. "We will be free one day and Dainn will be crushed. We must hold out until that day comes."

Chapter 6 - Spies and Subterfuge
As the soldiers of Badger Squad sat in their barracks tent outside Ponyville, cleaning and maintaining their weapons, Twilight Sparkle poked her head in through the flaps.
"Hey, Lt. Redford?" she asked. "General Eisenhower needs you, right now."
"Rog'." Redford replied, shouldering his M1 Garand and heading outside towards the command tent. As he walked through the streets of Ponyville, he could see signs of progress everywhere. Shops and homes wrecked or looted by the Caribou were being rebuilt or renovated with the help of US Army engineers, and a stockpile of nefarious instruments was being catalogued and then disposed of in the fields. Several other soldiers headed out to drill new recruits, and the sight made Redford smile.
As he entered the command tent, Eisenhower beckoned him in and the two of them sat down.
"What's the problem, sir?" Redford asked.
"At 0600 hours this morning, three Caribou managed to escape the stockade and vanish towards the mountain rage to our northwest." Eisenhower said. "In our investigation, we found notes leading us to believe somepony here in town is spying on us and allowed the Caribou to escape custody. Find the prisoners, then find the spy. You may proceed when ready."
Redford nodded and departed, making a quick stop at the Requisitions Area to pick up flashlights and extra ammunition.
====
"A spy?" George Nash asked as he readied his BAR. "Who'd want to sell us out to the Caribou? Doesn't make sense."
"Well, there's always going to be someone or somepony like that." Drake replied. "What's our heading, boss?"
"Whitetail woods." Redford said. "One of our Piper Cups noticed a Caribou ore mine or outpost in the area. We'll start there. Keep your eyes open for the escaped prisoners."
As the soldiers entered the woods, Redford huffed quietly. His rifle twitched ever so slightly as his nerves began to settle. Then, he held up his hand and motioned for the men to go prone and quiet.
The men looked at each other in surprise, but they could hear faint voices coming from ahead of them.
"...Are you sure they're not pursuing us?"
"I've been looking over our shoulder this whole time, Osif. We'll make it to the raid camp, and then we'll get our revenge on those filthy humans who dared to take us prisoner."
"What about our friend in Ponyville? Will she know what to do when we attack?"
"Yes, I made sure of it. Do you remember the pass phrase she'll say at the gate?"
"Of course! It's "the Flowers in the Basket". Let's go before someone finds us!"
As the sounds of hoofsteps faded to the east, Redford motioned everyone to follow him.
"What's the plan, sir?" Wilson asked.
"Keller, take Wilson and Drake, head back to Ponyville. Find that spy. We know how she's going to communicate, which gives us the advantage. Keep an eye on the gate. We'll find the prisoners."
"Then what?" Jackson asked.
"We find this raid camp they're talking about and take it out of the picture." Redford said. "Move!"
As the three soldiers headed back, Redford led the others after the prisoners.
===
"So, where do we start?" Drake asked when they returned to Ponyville. "If you were a Caribou Spy, how'd you do the job and get away clean?"
"I'd find a place to hide near the objective and keep myself inconspicuous." Wilson said. "I have an idea. The main reason spies get caught is because they get overconfident and make a mistake. We need to flush her out. And I know how to do just that."
"What do we do?" Keller asked.
"Keller, you watch the gate for any pony that comes near it. Drake, start spreading the word among the Caribou and the Ponies around town that the three prisoners successfully lost us and we're moving up the schedule on patrols. I'll make sure that when the Caribou attack comes, we'll be ready."
As the soldiers nodded and broke off, Darke headed to the Stockade and towards a group of Caribou prisoners eating their rationed meals.
"What do you want?" their leader asked.
"I just wanted to let you all know that your three buddies who made it out escaped." Drake smiled. "Security's going to be tighter around here because of it. And we've already found out how they escaped, so don't try to copy their little fluke. Thought you should know."
As the Caribou raised their eyebrows in surprise, Drake moved around the corner to eavesdrop.
"They found the tunnel? I thought we disguised it!"
"No matter. We've got to tell our mutual friend that the raid can move in sooner than expected."
As Drake headed off, a yellow-colored earth pony mare with a pale pink mane approached the fence to the stockade, where a Caribou prisoner approached.
"Are we still moving ahead?" she asked.
"Yes, we can move ahead sooner than anticipated. Go unlock the gate and tell our warriors at the camp to attack." the Caribou whispered.
The pony nodded and departed, unaware they had been spotted by the sharp-eyed Wilson. As he followed the pony, Drake and Keller headed to the radio room.
"Redford, you copy?" Drake spoke into the microphone.
"Loud and clear." Redford replied.
"We've got the spy. She's planning to incite an attack on Ponyville. She's heading your way now. We'll bring her in."
"Good, and alert the Generals about what's going on." Redford replied. "Get moving!"
As Keller sprinted for the command tent, Drake and Wilson reached the gate, where the spy was fiddling with the switches. Drake placed his M1 Carbine to the back of her head and spole.
"You wanna know something funny, spy?" he asked.
"Try me." the mare replied.
"Every good spy never gets ahead of themself. We played you like a violin. Hooves up and come with us or we will use force."
The mare snorted and did so, Keller restraining her. As she was dragged to the command tent, they were surprised to see the three escapees being grappled back into the stockade by Redford and his remaining men, to the shock of the other Caribou.
"Did you find the spy?" Redford asked.
"Right here." Keller said, bringing the mare forward. "What should we do with her?"
"I'll handle her." Twilight Sparkle said, approaching the mare, who spat at the Princess's hooves.
"Why'd you do this?" she asked.
"Because King Dainn ordered me too." the spy replied. "His gloriousness will soon surpass all of you monsters, and he will rule Equestria forever! He will crush all of you miserable humans like an ant beneath a stone!"
"Can I shoot her, for god's sakes?" Drake groaned as the mare began to laugh evilly. Redford smacked her with his rifle butt, and she fell to the ground.
"She's not worth a bullet." Redford said. "We'll let the Generals take it from here."
"What about that raid camp we heard about?" Nash asked.
As if to answer his question, there was the sound of several bomb impacts and gunfire in the distance as a few A26 Invaders flew overhead.
"Well, that solves that problem." Wilson laughed as the soldiers hauled the spy away. Twilight saw General Eisenhower approach and nod with approval.
"I knew they could do it." he smiled. "There's bound to be more of them, though."
"Certainly." Twilight said. "By the way, I have an idea for our next target."
"What might that be?"
Twilight smiled and looked to the sky.
"We're going to Cloudsdale."

Chapter 7 - Imminent Preparations
That Night, around 2000 Hours
Ponyville Plaza
====
As night settled down over Equestria, the town of Ponyville was brightly lit, a celebration in full swing. Pinkie Pie, who had been rescued from a slave convoy near Cloudsdale earlier in the day, had thrown a particularly big party for everyone in town, humans included as the guests of honor.
While a large group of soldiers still remained on guard to defend against any attacks that should come, and a few P47s and P51Ds flew overhead to watch against hostile airships, many of the troops were dining, drinking a rationed amount of Apple Family cider, and having a good time.
Off to the side, Badger Team and Lt. Redford were sitting in a large tent, watching the festivities. Each man had a large plate of food and two cups of cider, and they were laughing and swapping stories with each other.
"Not a bad party." Thom Jackson said, his normally quiet nature put aside for the moment. "Hard to believe we're still at war."
"Amen to that." Tim Drake added. "Speaking of, I thought the Generals would be here."
"They're working in the command center on our next move against the enemy." Redford said. "That's why our cider for tonight was either rationed or non-alcoholic. We can't be soldiers and drunk at the same time."
"Right." Wilson nodded as Bryan Cox downed a swig of cider. "So, Redford, I heard Cloudsdale is a city that literally floats in the sky on clouds. How are we going to fight if that's the case?"
"I reckon the Equestrians will have something to help with that." Redford replied. "I can see your point though."
Redford finished his glass of water and sighed.
"Alright men, let's call it a night. We've got a busy day tomorrow."
"Oorah." Drake nodded as the soldiers returned to their tents to unload their gear, before collapsing onto their sleeping bags.
====
In Canterlot, the once-proud and illuminated city was now darkened by the Caribou presence. A few buildings, many of which were slave houses or brothels, had lights on, but most other buildings did not.
Inside Canterlot Palace, King Dainn watched as his generals assembled for a War Council. They filed in quietly before taking their seats, Dainn snorting in boredom.
"What is there to report?" he spoke.
"The humans have managed to secure Ponyville and have derailed several of our slave caravans." General Riale, who commanded the troops in Baltimare, said gravely. "They are confined to the town and its surrounding lands, but there is no indication of how long that will last."
"How many are there?" Dainn huffed, slightly frustrated.
"We do not know, but our best estimates say more than 10,000." General Halran, in command at Manehattan, added. "Their war machines and weapons are far more powerful than our own. We have yet to capture any of them in order to find out how they work without magic."
"I expect to have that knowledge ready soon, Halran." Dainn replied. "What else?"
"We have reinforced the garrison at Cloudsdale with 1000 additional troops." General Sculas, who led the troops at the mentioned city, spoke. "I have also ensured that once they attack, they won't be able to fight for long amongst the surface of the city streets."
"Good." Dainn sighed. "I do expect more...tasteful news going forward, my friends. You are dismissed."
As the generals bowed and left, Dainn turned lazily towards the window. The Realm of Equestria belonged to him, and all it contained were his spoils. However, the human's arrival sundered many of his plans. The Equestrians fought hard to defend their home, but the Caribou's ferocity and sheer numbers won that battle..
But now it seemed that a new war had begun, and the Caribou were not favored to win as of this moment. The humans were growing bolder and more powerful with each day, and Dainn needed something to turn the tide long enough to gain the advantage or even take the offensive.
However, he had no such miracle at his disposal currently. Deciding now to retire with his favorite concubines, Celestia and Luna, he returned to his chambers to enjoy the rest of his night.

As the dawn came, General Eisenhower entered the command tent to see Twilight Sparkle waiting for him.
"Is something wrong?" he asked, noting her expression.
"It seems the Caribou realized that our attack on Cloudsdale was coming soon." Twilight said. ''They've sent additional troops and have fortified the city. They also changed the structure of the clouds to keep your troops unable to stand on them."
"I see." Eisenhower replied. "That is a problem to solve, Princess. Though, I have an idea if you'd care to entertain it."
"Like what?" Twilight asked.
"If we can play our cards right, we won't need infantry to take Cloudsdale." Eisenhower said, looking at a map. "There's four landing stations near the city. We capture them, we'll cut off their supply of food and water, among other necessary provisions. A position like that is no good if you can't keep your men fed to defend it."
"So we'll starve them into surrendering." Twilight said, astonished. "Brutal, but effective, I suppose."
"Agreed, but we'll have to move fast." Eisenhower said. "They're going to be expecting us soon, and they'll have their defenses shored up as a result. And we're starting to feel the need for reinforcements ourselves.'
"So what's the plan?" Twilight asked. Eisenhower turned to the map once more and smiled.
"Once we get some additional troops, we'll give the Caribou their own version of Vicksburg." he spoke. "I'll alert the US that we need additional troops."
"And I'll see what I can do to make this battle go easier." Twilight said as they exited the tent. "And what happened at Vicksburg, General Eisenhower?"
"If our plan works, what happened to the Confederacy at Vicksburg will happen again to the Caribou." he smirked proudly. "Not pleasant in the slightest, but pleasantries won't win battles."
As they proceeded to Gateway field in a jeep to send the message of needed reinforcements, the soldiers began to prepare for battle.
