Chapter 3: Little Moon

Little Moon

After breakfast Luna walked over to me and thanked me for the meal. “What do you do for fun around here?” She asked. This obviously caught Dashie’s attention and thus had her jump straight off her chair at Luna hovering mere inches above her.

“I can show you what to do for fun!” Dashie said as she landed in front of Luna. “Come on!” I didn’t try to stop them, in fact, I barely had time to tell them to stay close to the house. Celestia finished eating her French toast shortly after. She trotted over and put her plate in on the pile of other plates I had stacked. I planned to wash them later.

Celestia started up the stairs. “I’m going to go study and brush my mane and tail.” She stated as she disappeared up the stairs before I could ask her why. I decided that I didn’t get to much sleep last night so I settled down on the couch and started to nap.

I finally decided that I had waited long enough. I was going outside. The headmaster hadn’t comeback since he went outside and the screams had died down. That word. Died. I don’t like it. The smell of burning leaves filled the air.

I approached the door to the exit of the temple. As I flung it open, I was horrified at what I saw. The town I had grown up in, the headmaster that had taught me, raised me, all of it. Gone. No buildings, no houses, just gone. I heard a cracking noise come from above me. In moments the doorway came crashing on top of me, a piece of wood piercing my foreleg.

I cried out in pain. I couldn’t stand, but that wasn’t what I was worried about. I needed to figure out what happened.

Then, a big white light appeared, and everything vanished.

=========================================================

I woke up with an over dramatic gasp for air. It happened again. I didn’t even want to know what happened. I tried to shrug it off but I couldn’t. Slowly though, my thought process shifted to Luna and last night. I still couldn’t figure out how she knew I had a nightmare. I got over both thoughts in due time. I figured that Dashie and Luna would have come home by now.

I decided to wash the dishes. It looked like I definitely needed to after breakfast, Celestia had eaten 5 plates worth of French toast, bacon, and I’m not sure why, but her favorite seemed to be sunny side up eggs. She had eaten 3 plates of sunny side up eggs alone. Looks like I’m going to have to go to the market today. But first, I needed to tackle the mountain of plates before me.

It took about 2 pints of dish soap and 4 brushes before I had even made a dent. And I’m pretty sure it was lunch time to add on to the struggle. I looked outside at the sun’s position to check the time. When it was rising, we had breakfast. When it was straight above us, we had lunch. Setting we had dinner vice versa. It was straight above us, which meant that I now had to stop washing dishes, use more dishes, and sacrifice more dish soap.

I trotted up the stairs to ask Celestia what she would like for lunch. Once I reached the top I was stopped dead in my tracks by coming face to face with a pie. I couldn’t see them but I heard the laughs of two fillies running away from me. I didn’t know who they were so I picked up all three of the alicorns in the house. I proceeded to wipe my eyes clear of pie, not forgetting to taste what flavor, of course. Blueberry. Well it was obvious who did it now.

There were two blue alicorns in this house and there were two blue alicorns desperately trying to fly out of my magic. “Well Dashie, I never knew you could bake. And Luna, what role did you play in this?” I asked the two of them. I put Celestia back on the floor only to have her walk out of the room, look at me, look at Dashie and Luna, open her mouth like she was going to speak, then return to her room. I returned my gaze to the two in front of me.

“Actually, Luna helped make the pie.” Dashie said with no hesitation. Luna gave her a “I can’t believe you would throw me under the cart” look. I rolled my eyes and plopped the two down. In turn, they tried to run. This time I decided to have a little fun with them. I knew a duplication spell that could duplicate broken items in perfect condition. I held them upside-down by their tails.

Their eyes widened when they saw the two pies I had created with the spell. “Wait! No!” Dashie pleaded.

“Don’t do this!” Luna followed.

“Think of all the good times we’ve had!”

“But last night was the only time that we had a ‘good time’.”

“Luna you’re not helping!”

“I’m just telling the truth!”

I inched the pies closer. The smile on my face grew.

“No! Please don’t do it!”

“Tia help us!” When Luna said this Celestia ran out of her room and assumed an attack position, her horn glowing. “What’s going on?” She asked, which sounded more like a demand.

My smile grew bigger and the pies came closer. “Luna and Dashie decided to play a prank on me. So I’m simply returning the favor. Now that you’re out here though...” I picked up Celestia by the tail and hung her upside down too. Creating a third pie at the same distance from the other two. It was obvious I was having way to much fun.

Luna, Dashie, and Celestia struggled fiercely, waving their legs, flapping their wings, Celestia even tried to counteract my magic. “No! What did I do to you!?” Celestia cried as the pies were now within a wing of the three. I had been wanting to do this for a longgggg time.

“You ate my cake!” I answered.

“So did they!” Celestia pointed a hoof at the two next to her.

“You’re right.” I made another pie appear right in front of the trio. This one as large as all of them combined.

“Wait that’s not what I meant!”

“I know they would’ve burned the whole house down if they had baked this on their own.” Their it was, my trump card.

“Don’t do this mister!” Hm. Mister?

“Please, call me Starry Light!”

I thrusted the pies forward, each making perfect contact with it’s target. I had no doubt that the ginormous one would hit them. I removed the tins from their faces and with a puff of magic made them disappear along with the pie left on my face. “Now go downstairs and get cleaned up you three.” I had a certain smugness in my voice. “You look like you were ambushed by pies!”

Maybe that last line was a mistake. Celestia had a huge tub of soapy, cold water hovering above me in seconds.

“Come now fillies,” I felt beads of sweat running down my face, “no need to be brash. We can talk about this!”

I gues Celestia didn’t want to talk.
