The gang is walking in the hallway, clearly pissed.

"I can't believe our world's Twilight goes to Crystal Prep!" Rarity said.

"You're saying that Twilight's gonna play against us? She'd never do that!" Rainbow Dash said.

"I mean, maybe in a game or something, she would." Gohan said.

"This is more than a game, Gohan!" Rainbow Dash said.

"Our Twilight would never." Fluttershy said.

Sunset got angry, and-

"Our Twilight is a princess in Equestria and an expert in friendship magic! And if she was here, we'd have already figured out why magic is randomly popping up during pep rallies and costume changes." She said.

...

"...Are you okay?" Gohan asked.

"Ugh. Sorry. I'm just frustrated that I haven't heard back from her." Sunset said.

"She's a princess in Equestria. Probably got problems of her own to deal with." Applejack said.

"We certainly can't expect her to drop everything and pop through the portal whenever. Especially if it's to deal with something as minor as a few random pony ups." Rarity said.

"But they aren't minor! Magic came into this world when I stole Twilight's crown." Sunset said.

"Equestrian magic." Gohan said.

"...It's taken a lot for me to earn everyone's trust. If we have to forfeit the Games because we can't think of a way to keep it under control..." Sunset said, clearly stressed.

"Oh, Sunset, I'm sure you two will be able to figure things out." Fluttershy said.

"You're the one who helped us understand what was goin' on with the sirens. Remember?" Applejack asked.

"I guess. But Twilight was the one who really figured out what we needed to defeat them." Sunset said.

"But don't you remember, darling? What we needed to defeat them was you." Rarity said.

Sunset smiled...

"Alright..." She said, caving in.

"Good." Rainbow Dash said.

"Come on, guys! Let's see if we can find any info about the events and come up with a strategy." She said.

She and the others started walking away.

"You comin', Sunset?" She asked.

"...I'll... catch up with you guys in a bit." Sunset said.

She walked outside the school...

She pulled out her book to a blank page.

"Ugh... Still no reply." She muttered.

The Crystal Prep buses were out there, and the students were still hanging around.

Sunset noticed the portal in front of her, and had an idea.

At the very same time, Twilight's compass noticed energy in the Wondercolts' statue.

So, she walked towards it.

It opened up against her will, and Rarity's magic was still inside.

Sunset was right in front of the portal...

"Maybe there's another way I could reach her." She said, placing a hand on the portal.

Bad move, since that emitted tons of magic.

And Sunset couldn't move her arm at all.

"Hey! Let... Go!" She strained, trying to pull herself away.

At the very same time, the magic was being absorbed by Twilight's compass...

Twilight stopped it as soon as she could, struggling a bit to close the thing.

As soon as that happened, a small shockwave was sent, and shoved them away from the portal!

They fell on the ground.

Sunset noticed Twilight on the other side, and-

"What did you do!?" She asked, getting herself up.

Before Twilight could even reply...

"Twilight, you have to check in with the others." Cadence said.

Twilight rushed off to avoid confrontation.

Well, Sunset decided to let her go.

She touched the portal again, and-

Wait.

"Where's the portal?" Sunset asked.

She tried touching everywhere, but nothing.

"Where's the portal!?" She asked.

"What do ya mean the portal's gone?" Applejack asked.

Everyone but Gohan suddenly had new outfits on as they traversed the hallways.

"I mean it's gone. It's closed. It's not there anymore!" Sunset said, opening the doors to the gym.

Everyone went inside, where CHS and CP were on separate sides of the gym.

They hated each other, man!

Flash tried to be nice by smiling at Sour Sweet, but she just crushed a cup, slammed it on the floor and stepped on it...

"That explains the brief jolt of power I sensed before it suddenly vanished..." Gohan said.

"How did that happen!?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"I don't know. But it has something to do with that Twilight." Sunset said, pointing at Twilight.

Speaking of whom...

She's using her compass to try and find some things.

She wasn't focusing on where she was walking, because she somehow walked into balloons.

And then she walked into Indigo and made her spill her drink...

She growled and Twilight escaped the wrath.

"What in tarnation is she up to?" Applejack asked.

"She's looking for something, clearly." Gohan said.

"Leave this to me." Sunset said.

The group walked over to her...

Twilight was still trying to find a source of where the compass pointed to...

"Twilight, what have you been up to?" Sunset asked.

Twilight turned around nervously...

The compass pointed right at Gohan, but she didn't notice.

"Me? Oh... Uh... I was just-"

"Who wants to know!?" Indigo interrupted, pointing a mean finger at Sunset.

"Uh, we do!" Rainbow Dash sneered, getting up in her face.

They stared at each other aggressively...

"All right, everyone." Applejack said, wrapping her arms around the two of them.

"Let's not get too competitive before the games even start." She said.

"The games aren't really competitive since we've never lost." Sugarcoat said.

"You need to look up the definition of competitive again." Gohan said.

"And... That's not a very nice thing to say." Fluttershy said.

"Sorry, dearie, but these games aren't about being nice." Sunny Flare sneered.

"Well, it might use a little tact." Rarity said.

Now, Twilight just wanted to avoid this hot mess, so she started walking backwards...

Until she bumped into Pinkie.

"Hi, I'm Pinkie Pie!" Pinkie said, holding a hand out.

"Oh... Hi. I'm Twilight..." Twilight said, grabbing her hand...

Then Pinkie shook it really hard.

So hard that Twilight's glasses almost fell off, and her hair was undone.

Looks a lot more like the Twilight we know...

"I know. You look just like my friend. Her name is Twilight too!" Pinkie said.

Twilight put her glasses back into the correct spot and fixed her hair.

"That's... weird." She said.

"What's that?" Pinkie asked, pointing at the compass.

"It's sort of a spectrometer. I built it to track EM frequencies, but it can also contain anomalies." Twilight said.

...Pinkie didn't get that.

"...In Pinkie terms, it can find and measure things." Gohan said, appearing right next to Twilight.

"Ohh!" Pinkie said.

"Did you catch any of what I said?" Twilight asked.

"You built a spectrometer that can detect electromagnetic frequencies." Gohan said.

"It's detecting something in my general direction." He said.

Twilight noticed that...

She started walking around Gohan, but then it pointed right back at him.

Gohan faced her again.

'Strange...' Twilight thought.

"What kind of EM frequencies is it detecting? Radio waves? Infrared? Anything specific?" He asked.

Twilight was a little surprised at Gohan's knowledge...

"Er... That's for me to know." Twilight said.

"I'm always intrigued by another scientist's findings. What's it for?" Gohan asked, all friendly.

"Um..." Twilight said, trying to find an excuse.

"Can it measure the party?" Pinkie asked.

"Uh... No." Twilight said.

"Though it doesn't look like much of a party to me..." She said.

Nobody is really chatting apart from them, yeah.

The music is dull.

"I know. Something is definitely missing. Come on!" Pinkie said, grabbing Twilight and running off.

"...Well, Twilight got kidnapped." Gohan said to himself.

Celestia and Luna came onstage, and Celestia tapped the mic.

Everyone averted their attention to them.

"Hello, everyone! I'd like to take this opportunity to greet all of our visitors from Crystal Prep Academy and welcome them to CHS." Celestia said.

Pinkie and Twilight were shoving gift boxes into the room...

Twilight was having a lot of trouble moving the damn thing.

"What in the world is in these?" She asked.

"Party cannons, of course!" Pinkie said.

"And lastly, I would like to recognize the twelve students that CHS has elected to compete. I don't think we could have chosen a better group to represent the excellence, sportsmanship, and friendship the games stand for." Celestia announced.

As this was happening, Pinkie started switching everything around.

The boring finger foods on the tables were immediately swapped with cupcakes...

The lights were turned off, and the disco ball was the only source of light.

The DJ, Vinyl Scratch, pulled out a CD.

Then she started playing some nice tune.

It got the CHS students to move around, at least.

...And they're socializing with the opposite school!

Pinkie hurled the boxes off, revealing the two party cannons.

"Um, are you sure this is a good idea?" Twilight asked.

Pinkie grabbed the strings on both cannons.

"Absolutely!" She said, letting the cannons rip confetti!

Wow!

Everyone wants to dance now!

Almost all the kids are dancing in the middle of the gym, and they're not tearing each other's throats!

This was Pinkie's specialty.

So, she got so happy that she had a pink aura around her!

Her pony parts sprung out!

Then she started flying.

"Ooh, floaty!" She said happily.

Twilight's compass moved on it's own, and was attracted to the magic...

It opened itself up behind Pinkie...

And started to absorb all her magic...

Pinkie's aura disappeared and she fell to the ground.

"Aww!" She complained.

But then her pony parts went away, and she felt really tired.

"Oh..." She groaned, leaning on the wall.

"I am party pooped..."

The magic went into the compass...

Twilight was intrigued, so she took a closer look,

...But a spark of magic flew out into the bleachers...

Twilight noticed that there was some light in there.

Looking in between the bleachers.,.

A purple portal to Equestria appeared!

Twilight panicked and immediately shut the compass with some effort.

She didn't really know what just happened...

Well, Gohan saw this whole thing happen from a distance.

'How did she...? That spectrometer absorbs magic and ki! My power was going to be taken! How could Twilight...?' He thought.

Cinch tapped on the microphone and then the feedback killed the mood.

The lights were turned on, the music was shut off, and nobody's dancing anymore.

All attention was towards the stage.

"I'd like to thank Principal Celestia for her unconventional welcome. It's been four years since the last Friendship Games, but it feels as though nothing has changed. Canterlot High continues to pick its competitors in a popularity contest and Crystal Prep continues to field its top twelve students. It is a comfort to know that even after so many years of losses, your school remains committed to its ideals, however misguided they may be. I wish you all the best of luck, regardless of the inevitable outcome." Cinch announced.

Each school started separating and moving to their own side of the gym.

Pinkie managed to get herself over to the group...

She looked really tired and beat up.

"I'm sorry, Pinkie. I thought your party additions were really swell." Applejack said.

"They definitely broke the ice." Fluttershy said.

"Yes. If only that Principal Cinch hadn't frozen it again." Rarity said.

"Yeah... She's awful..." Pinkie said tiredly.

"Pinkie, what happened to you?" Sunset asked.

"I don't know... Everyone started having fun after Twilight and I fired the party cannons and I ponied up..." Pinkie said.

"Of course you did." Sunset said.

"But then the magic just drained right out of me." Pinkie said.

"Wait, what do you mean 'drained out of you?'" Sunset asked.

"Twilight's up to something." Gohan said, appearing out of nowhere.

"She stole Pinkie's magic, and I'd be willing to bet she stole Rarity's magic too." He said.

"How do you know?" Sunset asked.

"I saw the whole thing. That spectrometer she mentioned to us also tried to take my energy, but it couldn't do it." Gohan said.

"How could Twilight do something like that?" Fluttershy asked.

"I don't think she meant to, but you guys should stay away from her." Gohan said.

"Why?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"Right now, the magic she has in her spectrometer is unstable. If she gets any more, then horrible things could happen." Gohan said.

"Well... I guess we should listen to you." Applejack said.

"Just be careful around her." Gohan said.

Each team of twelve gathered at the entrance inside CHS.

Canterlot's team includes the main six, Gohan, Flash Sentry, Lyra Heartstrings, Bon Bon, Micro Chips, and Derpy.

Crystal Prep's team has six unnamed students as well as Twilight, Sunny Flare, Sugarcoat, Lemon Zest, Indigo Zap, and Sour Sweet.

Cadence announced...

"Welcome to the first event, the Academic Decathlon! You'll be scored on chemistry, home-ec and everything in between. But remember, only the six students from each team with the most points will move on to event number 2. Good luck!"

Well, this was trouble.

The chemistry?

Everyone got their goggles on!

Everyone but Derpy moved on, since it blew up in her face.

Then, it was the baking a cake competition.

You could work with other students...

Pinkie and Fluttershy teamed up, Rarity and Applejack teamed up, Flash and Bon Bon teamed up, many Crystal Prep students teamed up, and everyone else fucked up.

Rarity and Applejack had a passable, nice cake.

Flash and Bon Bon made a loaf of bread...

Two guys from Crystal Prep makes pancakes...? With frosting?

Two girls from Crystal Prep created a spectacular came with the Shadowbolts' logo on it.

That seemed like it was going to win.

However, Pinkie and Fluttershy made an even bigger cake!

Gohan's only saving grace was cutting Pinkie's cake with his hand.

A perfect slice.

When he moved the pieces apart, the fucking Mona Lisa was in there.

How that was possible, nobody knows.

I mean both the production and the execution.

Moving on to the arts and crafts competition...

More goggles and protective gear!

Gohan only wore the goggles, and nobody noticed the safety hazard.

The only thing they had to build was a birdhouse.

Again, you could team up.

Gohan refused to do so, and broke so many fucking birdhouses until he could finally manage not to break one with his hammer.

Everyone made generic birdhouses...

Micro Chips fucked up and couldn't make a stable birdhouse.

So his birdhouse fell apart and was knocked out.

Unfortunately, nobody could compete with Sugarcoat and Indigo's double birdhouse with a fire decoration.

They won that one.

Oh, damn.

Next is the spelling bee.

Walk up to the microphone onstage, spell the word, and you can move on or get left behind.

Each team had seven students left.

Canterlot had the obvious bunch.

Now, everyone but two students fucked up.

They fucked up on spelling hippopotamus, immigration, onomatopoeia, rhombus, chauffeur, and so many other words.

The obvious two to pass were Gohan and Twilight.

Twilight spelled psychoneuroendocrinological correctly.

Gohan spelled disestablishmentarianism correctly.

Smartasses.

The two got to walk up separate stairs up to the gym stage dramatically.

CHS's Saiyan warrior versus Crystal Prep's prized student.

Twilight was clearly nervous.

...Probably because everyone from CHS cheered Gohan on while wearing fake pony parts.

Her school didn't give two shits.

Now, onstage, there were two chalkboards with the same trig problem.

Ooh, this was a toughie.

You had five minutes to solve.

So much math...

The sohcahtoa method, then it turned to Algebra 2 and what the hell, I can't keep up.

Gohan was taking it slow.

Slow to him was somewhat quick to Twilight, and she started stressing out since he wouldn't stop moving.

It's really tense because two fucking nerds are doing math.

"Time's up!" Cadence announced.

The two students put their chalk away.

Cinch walked onstage and checked both of their answers.

...They got the same answer.

x is 20 degrees.

"...It's a draw." Cinch announced, somewhat astounded.

"Then what's going to happen?" Twilight asked.

"The first round is a draw. Each team receives one point!" Cadence announced.

"Son Gohan from Canterlot High and Twilight Sparkle from Crystal Prep win!" Luna announced.

Canterlot High's students started cheering!

Crystal Prep's students slowly clapped.

Cinch was somewhat outraged...

...But she retained her composure.

'Phew! I managed to keep the speed in check... For the most part.' Gohan thought, rubbing his head.

'What is he...!? Is he like me, or...? What!?' Twilight thought.

Gohan noticed Twilight's shock, and couldn't help but lightly chuckle to himself...

Then, from behind...

"That was amazing!" Fluttershy said, tackle hugging him in the back.

He didn't fall, but almost.

"That was awesome!" Rainbow Dash said.

"Truly amazing!" Rarity said.

"Man, you broke Crystal Prep's record!" Rainbow Dash said.

"Nice job." Sunset said.

"Er... Thanks..." Gohan said.

Cadence walked onstage, between the two.

"After a careful tally of the points, we'd like to present the students moving on to the Friendship Games' second event." Cadence said.

Everyone from CHS moving on was there, but one had to leave.

"I'm afraid you'll have to leave the stage..." Cadence said, pointing at Fluttershy.

"Oh... Okay..." Fluttershy said, looking very defeated.

The others looked in with sadness as she walked away.

The rest of Crystal Prep's students went onstage...

Twilight, Sunny Flare, Sour Sweet, Indigo Zap, Sugarcoat, and Lemon Zest.

They seemed very indifferent about this.

They walked off without Twilight, so Twilight tried running to catch up.

Then Flash just appeared.

"Congratulations! You were really great!" He complimented.

...Then Twilight's compass started detecting again, so...

"Sorry, excuse me." She said, just walking off.

Flash didn't feel so great.

"Oh... Okay." He said.

"...Aw." He groaned.

Fluttershy went outside the school, alone.

She was mentally berating herself.

'You weren't good enough to move on to the next round... Darn it!' She thought.

She had to lift her mood somehow...

"Oh!" Fluttershy said, realizing what she could do.

Little did she know, Twilight was following her.

Detected magic from her, you know?

Fluttershy sat in the bushes so that nobody could see her, but she took her bag off.

Then she unzipped it to reveal a cute little kitten, aw...

There was some rustling in the bush behind her...

Twilight's not good at hiding, because she just poked her head and arms out.

'...I don't have to listen to Gohan.' Fluttershy thought.

...She was still nice to Twilight.

"Do you wanna give her a treat?" She asked.

Twilight got herself out of the bush and sat down across from Fluttershy.

"Guess I'm not the only one to smuggle her pet into school." Twilight said.

Fluttershy giggled...

"Not just one..." She said cryptically.

Then she fully unzipped the bag to release the bunny, bird, kitten, hamster, and squirrel.

"Oh, wow. All I have is Spike..." Twilight said, unzipping her bag.

Spike poked his head out excitedly.

Fluttershy pulled him out.

"It really is uncanny. Does he talk?" She asked.

"Um... Not that I know of." Twilight said.

Fluttershy put him down and started scratching his belly.

"Congratulations on the draw, by the way." She said.

"I really don't know how, but he's good." Twilight said, chuckling.

"The odds were really against you." Fluttershy said.

'He held back. That's the only, only reason you managed to get a draw.' She thought.

"Do you think so...?" Twilight asked.

"Best student at CHS, by far. Though, it didn't seem like anyone on your team was very excited about it, or moving on." Fluttershy said.

"Well, we didn't win. And, no one at my school gets excited about anything they didn't do themselves." Twilight said.

"That sounds awful..." Fluttershy said.

She noticed that Twilight looked pretty sad about it...

So Fluttershy did what she does best.

She grabbed her bunny, Angel, and held it out to Twilight.

"Here. Hold this." She said.

"Um... Why...?" Twilight said, doing it anyway.

"Holding a bunny always makes me feel better." Fluttershy said.

"Well, that's ridiculous... But... Aw..." Twilight said, cuddling with the bunny.

"It actually kinda works...!" She said.

But then she realized something.

"I'm on the other team... Why are you being so nice to me?" Twilight asked.

"You looked like you needed it." Fluttershy said.

Oh, boy. A yellow aura surrounded Fluttershy...

She slowly flew up and ponied up!

"Woah...!" Twilight said, surprised that she's defying all laws of physics right now.

...Unfortunately, her compass is attracted to this.

It floated by itself, and aimed at Fluttershy...

It opened, trying to take Fluttershy's magic!

In the process, however, te magic started spilling out and portal suddenly emerged out of nowhere...

A weird Chernobyl rabbit deer hybrid jumped out from the portal...

In front of Spike.

The rabbit thing jumped off into the portal.

He didn't like it, so he jumped after it into the portal.

They started traveling through each portal like clockwork...

"Spike!" Twilight called out.

It's really scary and confusing, what's going on.

A new portal emerged, and Spike just so happened to fly out of that one.

He fell into Fluttershy's magic, currently being taken by the compass, and disrupted the connection...

He yowled!

This negatively impacted Fluttershy by a ton...

She fell to her knees immediately, but grabbed on to Spike.

"Spike!" Twilight called, running over to them.

She tried to close the compass, but it took a lot of effort...

The portals all closed, and the magic disappeared...

Fluttershy tiredly held Spike out to her...

As Twilight grabbed him, Fluttershy just collapsed.

Her pony parts went away...

Somewhere, in the school, a major disturbance was felt.

Anyway.

Twilight cuddled and hugged Spike dearly, ignoring the fallen teenager in front of her.

"Spike, are you okay?" She asked.

"Uh... I think so..." Spike said.

Aw...

...Wait-

"Aaaah!"

Twilight dropped Spike and tried running away as fast as she could!

"Twilight, wait!" Spike yelled, running after her.

Fluttershy sighed weakly, her vision a very tiny hole...

"B...Bye..." She muttered.

'I should've listened...' She thought, suddenly fainting.

Twilight ran into the school, and nothing happened for a good minute.

...

...Then Gohan burst outside!

"Fluttershy?" He asked, looking around.

And there she was, unconscious and on the ground!

"Fluttershy!" Gohan called, leaping at her.

He landed beside her and knelt.

"Can you hear me? Are you okay?" He asked, shaking her a bit.

No response...

"You're still alive, but... What happened to you...!?" Gohan asked.

Gohan picked her up bridal style, and-

"I have to get you to the nurse, pronto." He muttered, running towards the entrance of CHS.

Now what happened during that good minute?

Twilight ran inside the school, running from Spike...

"Twilight, come on! Wait for me!" Spike called out.

Twilight realized that she ran into a dead end, and she started treating Spike like the Black Death.

They didn't notice the Gohan run outside the doors.

"Why'd you run away like that!?" Spike asked.

"Um, oh, I don't know. Maybe it has something to do with the glowing girl, or the hole in space. Or my talking dog!" Twilight said.

"Yeah. Weird, right?" Spike asked.

Twilight softened up and realized...

He's not a monster.

She knelt down and started petting him.

"Are you okay? How do you feel? What happened? Where did you go?" Twilight asked.

"Hey, one question at a time! This is pretty new to me, too." Spike said.

"Sorry..." Twilight said.

"All I know is I chased that pointy rabbit through the glowy thing and then I was somewhere else. Next thing I knew, I was back in that nice girl's arms and I could talk! I don't really understand why I couldn't before. I mean, it's so easy." Spike said.

"Twilight." Someone called.

It's Cinch.

Oh shit, oh shit!

She's right around the corner!

Luckily, there's a vacant locker right next to her.

What are the odds?

"Quick, hide in here!" Twilight whispered, opening the locker.

She shoved Spike in there and closed it frantically.

Cinch was right behind her now.

"Who are you talking to?" She asked.

"Um, myself. It's a nervous habit. Were you looking for me?" Twilight asked.

"Indeed I was. I'm very disappointed in you." Cinch said.

"You let a barbarian tie with you at trigonometry? Your performance is clearly slipping." She said.

"I-I'm sorry, Principal Cinch... I really went as fast as I could..." Twilight said.

"Nonetheless, it is quite a coincidence that the CHS students moving on to the next event are the same nice students who were so interested in you, don't you think?" Cinch asked.

"...I'm not sure." Twilight said.

"Perhaps you should get to know them after all." Cinch said.

"But I thought you didn't want me to." Twilight said.

"Let's just say I'm covering my bases. Who knows? Perhaps they will reveal to you the secret to Canterlot High's newfound success." Cinch said.

"I don't know... Spying seems kinda... wrong." Twilight said.

Ugh.

Cinch began walking away...

"Well, it's your decision, Twilight. It's not as if your application hangs in the balance. On second thought, yes, it does." She said, completely going away now.

...Spike came outside the locker quickly.

"Man, she's awful. What are you gonna do?" Spike asked.

"I don't know, Spike... I don't know...!" Twilight said, sitting down beside him.

...The doors to the entrance burst open.

Gohan was carrying Fluttershy and ran semi quickly.

Again, don't want to show off too much power...

"...When did he get outside?" Twilight asked Spike.

"Heck if I know." Spike said.
