Chapter 2: A Slithery Foe
Written By: Moonlight Sparks
——————————————————It was almost time for the sun to set and Princess Celestia’s personal army, the Shining crusade, are now finished with their duties for the day. Some already left the barracks while others were still packing up and chatting with each other. Meanwhile, Moonlight was at his office just finishing the last of his paperwork’s while also reading about Don Salvic.
The file on Don Salvic was scarce as not much info had been recorded about this pony. However, there were several notices about his unruly behavior and his tendency to lash out at those who upset him, having doing so to the last pony that interview him. It is known that he’s responsible for many crimes done in the Equestrian Kingdom, but without any clues that linked him to the crimes, he was never convicted.
“I’m really gonna keep a watchful eye on this pony...” He said softly. He arranged everything in order before leaving his office and returned to his house, getting ready for the night shift.
As midnight was closing, Moonlight was flying towards the direction to the building where he first met Don Salvic while also watching the dark corners below him for anypony, especially Scarlet. There was nothing unusual around the area tonight, but a strange vibe chilled the air. He could feel something weird as he flew, carefully looking around.
As he grew closer to Don’s home, the feeling only grew worse. He flew down into a dark alley near the building as the feeling was getting worse. The front door of the building was wide open and a light shined out into the streets. He carefully look at the open front door. Something was not right here.
There were small sounds coming from inside. The sounds of grunts and angry voices came from within. He turned into a mist and flew secretly inside, hiding from plain sight and making his way towards where the sound was originated.
It came from a room beyond the trophy room he was in last night. The door was closed, but he could hear voices coming from the other side. He easily slipped through the door unseen and hid quietly. In front of him was Don Salvic, growling at another pony who was strapped to a chair, blood dripping from his mouth.
“I’ll ask you one more time... Where is my shipment?!” The pony didn’t even reply to him, just sat there, limp. Don sighed. “You were good, John. Real good...this...this is just upsetting, though. You had one simple fucking job and you couldn’t do that! The fact that you got blind-sided and robbed by... What was it, a mare? A fucking mare?! What the fuck?!” Don grabbed the pony’s face and lifted it towards him. “This was you last chance and you blew it!”
Moonlight fought the urge to blew his cover and save the poor pony. He instead had another way to save the pony.
Don let him go, stepping back. “Fuck...you know I can’t have slackers...or liabilities...” He looked over at the other pony in the room and nodded. The pony nodded back and approached the bounded soul, a dark glow forming.
“I’m real sorry about this, but I can’t risk you saying anything...it’s just business.I’m certain you can understand that...”
Don then left the room and the unicorn’s magic began to engulf the pony.
As he left the room, Moonlight quickly cast a soundproof barrier around the room without him knowing and appeared behind the unicorn and tries to punch him hard. However, the unicorn quickly vanished before he could land his hit.
“Sssssoo you are here...I felt your pressssssence when you entered...” He said in a snake-like fashion, looking at Moon with interest. He turned to him, narrowing his stare at him.
The pony was very strange. His body did not move like an average pony, but seemed more...boneless. His glaring green eyes had slits in them and his smile showed his fang-like teeth.
“Who are you supposed to be?” He asked, not showing any signs of backing down. “Why bother? It’ssssss not like you’re going to need to know...” The pony only replied.
“If your thinking of hurting this pony then you got another thing coming, you vile serpent...” He said, looking at the snakepony.
“I don’t think you know exactly what you’re dealing with...” He said, smiling before vanishing into the shadows behind him. He looked around as he vanished.
“So, young Captain... Are your skillssss assssss sharp assss your reflexessss?” His voice said. It seemed to echo through-out the room.
“Then come out and find it for yourself...” He replied calmly, carefully watching his surroundings.
