Princess Celestia was looking over the papers that she had just signed for her school for gifted unicorns and her thoughts went to her two personal students at the school; Sunset Shimmer and Dusk Shine. Sunset Shimmer was an orphan that she had taken under her wing after seeing her gifted magical potential and seeked to inspire her to live up to that potential.

Unfortunately it made her arrogant and a bit conceited; not interested in socialising with her fellow students or wanting to make any friends. She frowned at this and started giving Sunset lectures about the magic of Friendship but she found them rather boring.

However she came across Dusk Shine; a young colt that had the same great magical potential as Sunset but was more neurotic and adorable when she had first saw him for himself. She had given him the entrance exam of hatching a dragon’s egg and thanks to a powerful wave of magic; it unlocked the great magical power that the wave had unlocked. After undoing the accidental magic he had caused; she had told him that he would need to learn to control his magic and offered to make him her second personal student at the school.

After some encouraging from his parents Dusk had accepted and made an adorable skip especially after letting him know that he had just received his Cutie Mark.

She planned to have Sunset and Dusk study together hoping it would Sunset open more to friends.

However Sunset was not happy to learn about having to share her spot as Celestia’s top student with a colt and actually saw him as a rival. Especially since his grades matched and even outdone her own in some cases.

Dusk as it turned out was also not keen to socialising but just kept a polite distance from the other students and didn’t have the same arrogance that Sunset had. With them both under her tutelage she had grown fond of them as if they were her own children; she hoped eventually they would develop a friendship that would help them both overcome their own flaws.

After years of Sunset seeing their relationship as a rivalry and having to break up some arguments between them; she had began to wonder if she was too strong in trying to force a friendship between them. They hadn’t argued in quite a white but she wondered that she would still have to keep a close eye on them both as she could still feel the tension between the two.

She would have to change her approach; she was going to visit Dusk in his dorm room at the tower but heard Sunset shouting and sighed. It had been a while but another argument broke out between them it seemed; she would have to take care of this.

She probably guessed that it would be about the quiz they would have gotten their answers back. Sunset had came in second to Dusk in the exam but shy a few points from tying with him; she had made a little mistake in the extra credit questions. It seems even that was enough for Sunset to be set off.

She flew up to the top room and opened the door with her magic.......

Dusk Shine had loved studying at Princess Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns and having his own dorm room with his new dragon friend Spike. Of course he had to contend with Sunset Shimmer who was Princess Celestia’s other personal student; who didn’t like the idea of sharing the top spot with any other student.

Especially when Dusk had gotten a better score than her than just tying with her; that really seemed to set her off.

Princess Celestia had then study together and things were tense and Sunset’s attitude caused arguments to be set off between them. As time went on they managed to be more civil towards eachother even though there was still tension between them.

However they had warmed up to eachother and Dusk began enjoying her company; though he was not especially close to the friends he did have at the school, he found Sunset somepony that he was fond of being around. He was embarrassed to admit that she was a pretty mare but was a lot more confident that he was.

One day a few months ago Sunset was red in the face as she was asking Dusk if he wanted to go out; Dusk asked where she wanted to go with him. Sunset began becoming agitated when she began asking Dusk if he actually knew what she was asking him since she had said she wanted them to go out for snacks and stargazing together.

Dusk’s confusion at her questions caused her to shout in his ear:

“How could you be so smart and yet so dense? How do you get better grades than me? I am asking you out on a date you idiot!!!”

They were silent as Dusk was red in the face and mumbled an acceptance when he found his voice; she had left and then it fully sunk in for Dusk just what he had agreed to.

It was a bit of a tense date but they did find themselves enjoying themselves on it. Dusk walked with her back to her dorm and she had given him a kiss which got them both reddened. They had gone out on a few more dates and even though they had never really made it official; they realised in their heads that they were now marefriend and coltfriend.

They were keeping it on the down low and to themselves; though Spike knew and just went ‘bleh’ about it all. Good thing he said he would keep it secret as Dusk didn’t want his parents to know yet nor did he want Shining Armor to tease him and he was afraid of how Cadance would react. It would be something special with her being the Princess of Love.

As he was enjoying his time going out with Sunset; she had laughed at his attempts to be romantic. Dusk had pretty much scoured every book on romance that he could find and plenty of romance novels as well.

Dusk was reading his exam result in his room when Sunset barged in shouting “What’s this about I hear of you doing better than me on the exam?” Dusk had begun speaking incoherently as he had Sunset’s exam paper shoved into his face. He was trying to apologise when Sunset laughed and told him “just kidding, just wanted to see you red as it’s so much fun to rile you up.”

Dusk was glaring and Sunset asked “so does the most handsome and smart stallion in Equestria want a prize in the form of kissing a fiery redhead?”

“Well I don’t know as I don’t know this stallion and if he would want a prize but I don’t think he would turn down a kiss from you even though I don’t like the idea of you kissing another stallion........” Dusk said but when red when he realised that she was talking about him. Sunset laughed at his denseness and initiated the kiss which Dusk returned.

Then they heard the door opening again....

Princess Celestia blinked as she was not at all expecting to walk in on Dusk and Sunset kissing. Both unicorns were embarrassed and opened mouthed when they looked to the door and saw her at the door silent. Sunset was silent and red faced while Dusk was babbling incoherently and Celestia finally gave a chuckle.

“I must apologise my faithful students; I heard Sunset shouting and I completely misinterpreted whatever was happening. Sorry for bargaining un Dusk and I will leave you two alone now.” Celestia said before leaving; it seems that Dusk and Sunset had fixed things between them themselves right under her nose.

Princess Cadance had taken a break from ruling the Crystal Empire with her husband Shining Armor and they had decided to want to surprise Dusk Shine with a visit to his castle. The colt was always like a brother to her and he was now her brother in law; makes it even funnier with him going out with her honorary Aunt Luna. Still being the Princess of Love meant that she was happy that her loved ones had special someponies of their own.

However when they had arrived at Dusk’s castle; they were taken aback when they walked into Dusk and Luna looking like they had some quarrel with Dusk trying to defend himself. They had walked into the room to hear Luna shouting with the Royal Canterlot Voice “How do you think I was supposed to react walking in to seeing you kissing another mare?”

They were stunned silent with Shining and Cadance giving shocked sounds; Cadance was sure this had to be a mistake while Shining was glaring at his nervous looking brother. The couple had been stunned to hear them that and Cadance stopped Shining from ripping into Dusk and Cadance decided that she wanted to fix this. She had pushed Dusk and Luna into two different chairs.

“Okay, first I want to hear the story from you Aunt Luna.” Cadance said calmly a feeling of dread while Shining kept his glare on Dusk.

“It was as you heard; I wanted to surprise Dusk last night and I found him kissing another mare.” Luna said with a glare while Dusk gulped but Cadance motioned for Dusk to explain.

“Cadance, Shining Armor...... I promise it’s not as bad as she is making it out to be..... She is taking it out of context and she was totally invading my privacy.....” Dusk stuttered out and Shining had become furious while Cadance covered her face with her hooves.

“Are you really blaming Luna for walking in on you cheating on her? Who was this other mare?” Shining snapped, at what was the beginning of a huge rant but paused when Dusk was pointing to Luna. Cadance held her husband back while motioning for Dusk to continue on.

“The mare she walked into me kissing was her.” Dusk managed to explain and Shining’s rage grew to confusion. Dusk then continued to explain “last night I was dreaming of our last date and Luna invaded my dreams to watch the kiss that we had.”

Shining and Cadance were opened mouthed and both looked to Luna who gave a gulp and a sheepish look. “I guessed....... I blew it out of proportion and I did want to surprise him and I acted without thinking..... I’m so sorry Dusk dear.....” Luna managed to get out as Dusk smiled at her and then went to nuzzle her cheek.

Cadance smiled herself as Shining softly pulled Dusk in saying “sorry for doubting you bro and overreacting.”

“How about to make it up to you then we can have a dream date and I can make this happen for you......” Luna asked Dusk whispering something into his ear which made him go red. Shining and Cadance then left them; a part of them thought that they shouldn’t have meddled but at least the solved a proper out of context misunderstanding.

I am open to suggestions and requests.

Hopefully the next chapter will actually have Dusk or the love interest for the chapter as the actual viewpoint character.

Canterlot High on a Saturday and Dusk Shine wearing his hooded jumper with the hood up was using his energy tracking device to examine the horse statue outside the school. There had been a lot of strange things going on and energy readings coming from his school’s rival and he had began investigating now with someone from school who was acting as his assistant now.

“Some boys take their girlfriends out to concerts, movie and eating outs but you take me out to investigate a school because you found a sky beam coming from the school as if like a climax of a science fiction or superhero movie.” His girlfriend Sugarcoat commented with her usual expression, Dusk and Sugarcoat had been going out for a month though they were not lovey dovey while in public or even on their own; despite their classmates always wanting details.

Dusk’s brother Shining Armor convinced Dusk to try this teen dating app and it had paired him with Sugarcoat on a blind date much to their surprise; Dusk was kind of a black sheep at the school due to others looking down on him for having the best scores but not really up for the physical activities or hanging out much. They got through their date alright and tried again and it led to them.

“Well it’s not really a date, remember you wanted to spend time with me today and I had this planned so we combine them both and it’s a win-win.” Dusk replied with an oblivious smile as Sugarcoat shook her head at his denseness. “Speaking of dates, can I ask if you have been talking about me and our dates to your friends?” Dusk asked as Sugarcoat shook her head.

“Don’t worry I have spoken nothing to them about how you are a bad kisser.” Sugarcoat replied as Dusk sank and sighed to himself, she never does sugarcoat anything in her speech despite her name. She was always brutally honest in how she spoke.

“You know we could have brought some paint and stuff to leave a nasty surprise for the Canterlot High people, it would help your popularity.” Sugarcoat told him and Dusk vehemently shook his head.

“No way; I am not risking my future with a vandalism mark on my record. Not to mention my brother who is a police officer and how he would react.” Dusk replied with a bit of a glare to her as she was silent. Dusk then found he had a new reading on his machine and told her “I will make sure you get credit for your help Sugarcheeks.” Dusk told her with a big smile that sank to her glare.

“You have been reading those awful romance help books again, haven’t you?” Sugarcoat asked with her arms crossed and Dusk was looking nervous. “I can’t say that I should be complaining, it makes you a dense dork and I find it cute.” Sugarcoat told him with a smile as Dusk was not too sure how to respond.

Dusk then remembered something and told her “I just remembered, Cadance got two tickets for a Sapphire Shores concert for the both of us, you know that one in two weeks. So do you want to go?” Dusk asked as Sugarcoat gave him a big smile.

Soon they were finishing up a Sugar then decided to surprise him with a kiss on the lips which he returned. Dusk gave a look to Sugarcoat’s smirk and asked “I thought you said I was a bad kisser.”

“You are, I am just helping you practice so you get better.” Sugarcoat replied the smirk never leaving her face.

Let me give you the 3 names on the blacklist who will not be featured with their own chapters:

Princess Celestia: see her just being a motherly figure towards Twilight/Dusk.
Pinkie Pie: Sorry she is my least fave of the Mane Six as she can get annoying and I think she gets away with more than she should.

Starlight Glimmer: Yes after all these years I am in the cmap that says her redemption was neither deserved or earned and while I don't hate episodes just for her being in them: I can't like her. She is stupidly overpowered in magic and I can only accept her managing to match Twilight in that time travelling fight as Twilight holding back a lot (at least Tempest in the movie had magic bombs that turned alicorns to stone).

“The Great and Powerful” Trixie Lulamoon saw herself as quite proficient in magic especially when she enrolled in Princess Celestia’s School for Gifted Unicorns, however she also had a talent for stage performing magics which was no surprise as she was the daughter of Jack Pot who was famous across Equestria for his double act with her honorary uncle Big Bucks. She hoped that she could dazzle ponies across Equestria with her theatrics; however she was dazzled by one of her fellow students.

Dusk Shine, the personal student of Princess Celestia herself. There were mutterings and rumours of all sorts about him from the idea that he hatched a dragon’s egg to get in to some saying that Princess Celestia was teaching him to take over as her successor one day. She was certain it was all rumours blown out of proportion as such schoolyard rumours tend to be.

However one day she was doing a show for the students and was making challenges to anyone else to show what they have. Someone nudged Dusk and he was hesitant but was egged on by the students to finally relent. Trixie thought he looked like a cute colt but was open mouth when he did a spell that juggled her stage with them on it. The audience bursted into applause and Trixie couldn’t bring herself to blame Dusk or stealing her show from her.

She confronted him later asking that he teach her some of his flashier spells, Dusk was not sure due to not really wanting to be seen as a show off but relented after some pleading by Trixie.

Some time was spent with Trixie getting a hand of the spells that Dusk was teaching her and she was giddy, Trixie ended up hugging him as she was giving her thanks with them feeling embarrassed after she let go.

After Dusk and Spike helped with some shows that were well received by their fellow students, Trixie left after deciding to strike it own and start her magician’s career on the road. Their goodbye to eachother was long and awkward with them feeling nervous. They didn’t know that Shining Armor and Cadance were hiding and Shining was preventing Cadance from using her magic to push them to just kiss eachother already.

Soon enough they ended up kissing and it started a long distance relationship with Dusk talking about how his studies were going on and Trixie telling him about her shows ending every letter with a kiss.

Dusk when he moved to Ponyville to be with his friends had to juggle his letters to the Princess and Trixie as well. Trixie herself was thrilled when she saw that Ponyville was her next stop.

She made sure her show in Ponyville was as big and spectacular as possible; she had her heart filled with energy when she spotted Dusk in the crowd. Her displeasure at some arrogant hecklers was shown and directly challenged and humiliated them on stage, she wouldn’t let anyone ruin her show when she wanted to impress her coltfriend!

After the show she went to her travelling cart home and was happy to see Dusk there complimenting her on her show but asked if she had to do that to the girls. Trixie wasn’t too concerned and just shut him up with a kiss he eagerly returned.

There were mutterings and saw 5 mares including the 3 hecklers who were not happy, “Trixie these are my friends Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Applejack, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy. Girls I am so sorry I forgot to tell you but this is my marefriend Trixie, we went to Celestia’s school together.” Dusk explained awkwardly with Trixie surprised to learn that 3 of the friends that Dusk told her about in his letters were the hecklers she had to deal with.

In retrospect, she should have realised that they matched how Dusk talked about them.......

The trio of hecklers were not happy with her and she could see jealous stares from the 5 and Trixie gave a look in return which screamed ‘Bring It’!

Open to more ideas, Comickook suggested an idea for Cadance if Dusk and Shining swapped ages. Any ideas for that please from anyone plus any other ideas for chapters as well? I am welcome to trying characters I have already done a chapter for.

Dusk Shine had been excited to have been with his friends to visit the set of the upcoming Daring Do movie by the director Canter Zoom! He had been a huge fan of the books since forever (he remember Shining’s teasing with Daring the character being his first fictional crush), in fact when he goes to the Daring Do convention with his brother taking him he loves to geek out with fellow fans. Including a girl his age named Juniper Montage who he had a bit of a friendship with; for the longest time it was weird and nice having someone his age to be friendly towards him due to how much of an outcast he had been at Crystal Prep.

Well he had Rainbow Dash as a fellow fan; shouting out to Canter about what details was being misled (like if a character was supposed to be using an alias at this point and he would have pointed the details out if Dash hadn’t). Right now during a break they were both looking around the studio geeking out over the props and sets and he was surprised to hear a familiar voice “No way Dusk, my uncle told me that in the group he was inviting to watch the production was someone I knew but I didn’t think it would be you! That’s awesome!!!!”

He was surprised as he saw that Juniper was there smiling as she walked up to them, he was amazed and started squealing about seeing her again. Dusk quickly introduced Juniper and Dash to eachother and told Juniper that he didn’t realise that Canter was Juniper’s uncle. “Seriously, you didn’t recognise him as my uncle?” Juniper asked half amused and half shocked, Dusk shook his head awkwardly.

During the conventions Juniper would talk about how her uncle was an up and coming movie director but Dusk had hardly seen any of the movies he made. plus the news of who was directing the movie was only revealed publicly and so Juniper was not allowed to say at the last convention they had attended together, there were still some contract issues or something that prevented much movie news to be made at the convention.

Juniper had told them that she was working as her uncle’s assistant on the movie and was a little bit disappointed because she always hoped to see herself as Daring Do one day but her uncle got her a small part in a chase scene. Dusk remembered her talking about wanting to be a well known actress one day and listened as she talked about hoping that this could lead to some more big breaks as she got older.

Juniper was telling him about the props of the relics that were approved by Daring Do’s author AK Yearling herself, how she actually signed her books when she was here earlier in the production. Dusk was so jealous and when answered when asked about his time at Camp Everfree, Canter had told her about how he and his friends helped save the camp that he used to go to as a kid.

Dusk made vague comments about it leaving out the magic and Dash jokingly mentioned how he hardly noticed when Flare Warden tried to flirt with him. Dusk told her off and suddenly Dash’s eyes widened when she noticed Juniper had a hint of jealousy in her face when Flare was brought up.

When it came time of the next filming take, Canter called them and told Dusk and his group that they could be extras in the film as well to their excitement and glee. Juniper asked with red in her cheeks that their characters could be a young couple and Dusk didn’t know why he was red himself when he said that it could be.

The filming commenced with Dusk and Juniper holding hands on set when the actor playing Stalwart pushed past them, followed by the lead actress Chestnut Magnifico playing Daring Do. Juniper and Dusk leaned in for a kiss after Chestnut in character asked the two lovebirds if they were alright.

They were red afterwards with Dusk commenting that Juniper could already be a great actress, she beamed asking really but was open mouthed when he replied “really, it did felt like you were in love with me there.”

Dusk didn’t notice his six friends open mouthed themselves silently asking eachother that Dusk couldn’t possibly be this dense and oblivious.

Here Juniper isn't as much of an egotistical spiteful brat. Thanks for the ideas on my recent blog and I am welcome to more.
