Button had been crying all night, and he couldn’t hide it. Summer was coming to end and fast, meaning that Sweetie Belle’s freinds were going to be back soon. That also meant that she would forget about him, or at least that’s what he thought would happen. He didn’t want to lose her, he couldn’t handle it.

“Button?”, a voice called out.

“Yeah Mom?”, Button said to his mother, who was in the doorway.

“You have a visitor, they really want to see you”, Love Tap said.

Love Tap stepped aside and let the visitor inside his room. It was Sweetie Belle. The filly smiled, but that wasn’t unusual. Her smile helped Button so much that summer, so much so that it was practically burnt into his mind.

“Hey Button!”, she said happily.

He tried to smile, he really did, but he just couldn’t. His tears started to flow freely, leaving them to stain his cheeks.

“Button, what’s wrong?”, Sweetie said.

Button had no response, he just kept sobbing. Sweetie was concerned, had she done something wrong? She trotted over to Button and embraced him. Her warmth just made him cry more, but he still hugged back. They sat like that for some time, neither one wanting to move.

“Please don’t leave me...”, Button said quietly.

Sweetie got confused. What did he mean by that?

“What do you mean?”, Sweetie asked.

Button looked up into her eyes and said words that Sweetie Belle would never forget.

“Summer is almost over, Sweetie Belle! Your friends are going to come back, and then your going to forget about me! And then I’ll just be alone, it’ll be just like every other year!”, Button said, tears still pouring from his eyes.

Sweetie Belle was shocked, why would he think that? She could never forget him, even if she tried. They’d had an amazing summer together, and it was honestly the happiest she had felt in years. And then, she felt it, she felt something inside so warm and sweet, it was heavenly. It was love. She loved Button Mash. She loved him so much, and she didn’t realize it. He had picked her up when she was down, and showed her how to have fun. Now it was her turn to pick him up.

“Button Mash, I will never leave you, nor will I forget you. You’ve made me so happy, and I’ll nwver forget it. Button, your special to me, and don’t forget it”, Sweetie Belle said with all of her heart.

Button didn’t know what to say, he hadn’t expected that much from her. Her words touched him on a very deep level. And then he felt something in his heart, something he couldn’t even describe. It was as if he had gotten the skeleton costume in Super Mario Oddessy. It was pure happiness and joy, and was all directed at Sweetie Belle.

“Sweetie Belle?”, he asked.

“Yeah?”, she replied.

Button leaned his head ever so closer to Seetie Belle, and sealed the gap by placing his lips on hers. She was surprised at first, but soon kissed back. Button then grew confident, and un-arched his back. She melted into his hooves and wrapped her hooves around his neck. Sweetie broke the kiss and stared into his eyes.

“I love you”, she said.

“I love you too, Sweetie Belle, for always and ever”, he said, nuzzling her.

Love Tap watched the whole thing go down, and by the end she had tears. Her baby had grown up.

“You wanna play some Mario Kart?”, she asked.

“Yep, your going down!”, he said with a smirk.

Sweetie giggled, she loved when he was happy.
