Written as a companion to The Light Despondent by my friend Doctor Fluffy, following some characters from that and some brand new ones on an exciting – not to say occasionally downright confusing – adventure.

Earnest Star was the most unremarkable Unicorn filly in the world, once upon a time. That, of course, was before her parents were forced to flee Equestria and live on Earth. That would have been the end of Earnest Star, if it weren’t for the fact that she had a dream – a dream that she would do something important. Now, following that dream and helping a man seeking redemption along the way, she may find herself wishing she had stayed unremarkable…

Lucky Strike has always been a bit of a wilful oddball. After all, most ponies don’t go looking for the HLF to work for. Lucky Strike, though, happened upon the charismatic and driven Daniel Romero of the HLS Columbia. Now an Officer of his special HLF Taskforce (and one of his best, thank you very much), Lucky does her best to keep everyone and everyone around her focused – which is harder when dealing with her friend Sam Yarrow…

Amduscias is, at best, a myth, but there are those who believe he’s real. He’s an angel of death, a ghost that walks among ponies and men. He doesn’t ponify – he kills. Now, he seeks the means to end the war, and his sights are set on the Mystics and their arcane knowledge…

Commander Cairn is an Earth Pony Guardspony who fought his way through the ranks from the ground up. While he doesn’t have the fervour of Shieldwall, he’s a competent battlefield commander, one heavily associated with the PER fighting in the area around Bastion…

And Amadeus Cain? Well, he’s just having fun, and making art. That’s all there is to it for him.

These people, remarkable or otherwise, are about to be part of the wind that will change the world… for good or ill.
