The summer went by quickly.

The Mane 7 spent it all together...

But they wondered where the hell Gohan and Goten were.

Sunset was the most worried...

He doesn't answer her messages.

Asking Twilight, she didn't give much.

Anyway, first day of school!

It's just amazing...!

Our 7 were waiting outside the portal...

Hoping our Saiyans would come.

"Sunset, you wrote to Princess Twilight, right?" Twilight asked.

"Yeah, but she said Gohan would explain it to us. But he won't respond to anything I send him." Sunset said.

"There's no way they won't show up to the first day of school." Rainbow Dash said.

"I hope..." Sunset said.

After an hour of literally doing nothing, class is starting soon.

"...They're not coming." Pinkie said.

"Yeah, I'm throwing in the towel." Sunset said.

"Anyone else agree?" She asked.

"Yes." Everyone else said.

Our seven decided to walk into school.

Gohan never came.

The classes for the day are over, but clubs are still here.

Sunset Shimmer was in the yearbook club...

Actually, she's the President of the Yearbook Committee.

So she was tasked with taking photos of a lot of stuff.

You know, people doing things...

Like her friends reading, playing sports and just hanging out.

Or pictures of other people hanging out.

Her friends decided to help her with the process of uploading photos to the computer.

You know, the hard stuff!

Taking the memory card out from the camera with Twilight's magic, having Rainbow Dash put it into the computer...

Yeah, the hard stuff.

There are a lot of adorable photos.

Sunset was looking through all of them...

...But Gohan and Goten were missing.

'It's just not complete!' She thought.

"...Hey, do you girls want to see last year's yearbook again?" Sunset asked.

"Yeah!" Everyone said.

Sunset pulled that Yearbook out from nowhere, and opened it.

"Aw...! We look so awesome here!" Rainbow Dash said, pointing to a photo of the group.

"This year, we look even better!" Sunset said.

"But we still have to wait ten whole months!" Pinkie said, pouting.

"Don't worry, we're all going to the same college!...I think. Where is Gohan going again?" Applejack asked.

"He said he wanted to go to Marevard." Sunset said.

"Oh. Okay, so not all of us, but 7 out of 8!" Rainbow Dash said.

They looked at all the superlatives and such...

"That's a funny way to use your tail!" Sunset said.

There was a picture of Gohan trying to wrap his tail around Goten.

He wanted to lift him, but he failed.

"They got the 'Inseparable Duo' superlative." Sunset said.

"I'm class clown!" Pinkie said, pointing at a picture of her holding a giant megaphone.

"You're THE class clown." Twilight corrected.

"Huh. I won 'Most Athletic!' I thought Gohan would've earned that!" Rainbow Dash said.

"He still wins 'Most Heroic'." Sunset said.

"Well, yeah." Rainbow Dash said.

"Goten's the 'Youngest Genius.'" Rarity said.

"He's a toddler in seventh grade, that's insane." Twilight said.

"Ooh! 'Best Friends!'" Pinkie said.

"Now the nine of us all won that..." Applejack said.

"It was pretty amazing!" Fluttershy said.

Well, this went on for a while.

"Okay, now. I have to give these back to Principal Celestia." Sunset said, taking last year's yearbook.

She started walking away.

"We'll work on the current yearbook la-" She said, before accidentally bumping into someone.

Some girl with green hair, light green skin and is quiet as hell.

They both fell down to the ground.

Sunset dropped the yearbook.

"Excuse me." The girl said.

"I'm sorry. I didn't see you come in." Sunset said, picking up her yearbook.

"I've been here for a while." The girl said.

"I didn't realize..." Sunset said.

"I've been trying to get your attention this whole time." The girl said.

Sunset blushed in embarrassment.

"Ain't she a quiet one?" Applejack asked Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy.

"Yeah. And we know some pretty shy people. Am I right?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"We do? Who?" Fluttershy asked.

Back to Sunset.

"I'm Sunset Shimmer. President of the Yearbook Committee and editor-in-chief. Do you want to join? We could always use extra help." Sunset said.

"...I'm Wallflower Blush." Wallflower said.

"Nice to meet you." Sunset said.

"I've been on the Yearbook Committee all year last year." Wallflower said.

"Oh! Uh..." Sunset said.

"We met in ninth grade English." Wallflower said.

Yeah, Sunset didn't remember any of this.

"And... I was... saying it was nice to meet you then. You didn't let me finish." She said.

Nice save.

"...Anyway, I got the list of superlatives that students can vote for." Wallflower said, holding up a paper.

She handed it over.

"Thanks! We still have time to edit these a bit, right?" Sunset asked.

"A week." Wallflower said.

"Thanks." Sunset said.

The girls all huddled around Sunset.

"Hey! Best Friends is still there! We'd totally win that!" Rainbow Dash said.

"Why don't we take our picture at the beach tomorrow? Everyone's bound to look adorable." Rarity said.

"Are you sure we'd automatically win? We don't want to jump the gun." Twilight said.

Everyone just stared at her.

...

"...Yeah, you're right, Nevermind." She said.

"Beach day! I'll make my world-famous fun-in-the-sun cupcakes!" Pinkie yelled.

She leaned into Fluttershy's ear.

"The secret ingredient is edible sunscreen! It's SPF fun-hundred!" She whispered.

Fluttershy thought that was disgusting.

"Are ya gonna invite Gohan and Goten?" Applejack asked.

"They have to come. Otherwise, we can't take the photo." Sunset said.

"What makes you think they'll be here then?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"I'll scare Gohan into coming... I hope he actually reads it." Sunset said.

"At this point, he might not even look at it." Pinkie said.

"Oh well. Let's go home. We have an exciting day at the beach tomorrow!" Sunset said.

The girls all cheered as they left the classroom for the Yearbook committee.

"I'll just finish up..." Wallflower said.

"Ooh! Forgot to turn off the lights." Sunset said, doing just that.

...Wow.

"...In the dark..." Wallflower said.

...

That's sad.

Sunset was in her bed and in her pajamas...

About to go to bed.

...But she had to write something to Twilight.

In a nutshell, it was-

"Get Gohan's lazy ass to go to the beach tomorrow, and tell him he's an asshole for not answering."

Hey! I didn't see Gohan today, and he was absent for the first day of school. Do you mind getting Gohan to come to the beach tomorrow? It's for the yearbook.

Well, beach day.

What a day.

Sunset wasn't there yet, but the rest of the group were there.

Everyone had their swimsuit on.

Twilight happened to bring Giru with her...

She wanted to test this.

She posed, and Giru took a picture because it was programmed into him.

Then Giru flew to Twilight.

"Group picture, practice run #36-A, attempt seven - success!" Twilight said.

"Giru! This seems useless! Giru!" Giru said.

"Meh. It's cool." Twilight said.

"Uh... I prefer take selfies myself...ie." Applejack said.

Let's cut to Rarity and Rainbow Dash.

Rarity had five beach blankets laid out.

"Which beach blanket should we use for the photograph?" She asked Rainbow Dash.

"You mean the white one? Or the white one?" Rainbow Dash asked.

Rarity gasped.

"This is toasted oat and linen lamb's wool. Eggshell, warm frost, pale nimbus, and... Well, that one is white, I suppose." She said.

"Uh... Yeah, that's the one I was talking about." Rainbow Dash said.

The wind blew the white one away.

Spike, who was digging a hole in the sand, took notice.

"Don't worry, Rarity! I got it!" He said, running after it.

Then Pinkie ran after it alongside Spike.

"No, I got it! I got it!" Pinkie yelled.

"Nuh-uh! I got it!" Spike said.

The two tripped over each other.

...

Then the blanket fell into the water.

"I don't got it..." They said, defeated.

...Then the blanket rose with seaweed covering it!

Pinkie gasped!

"Ocean monster! OCEAN MONSTER!" She yelled.

She and Spike ran away as fast as they could.

...The blanket was taken off, and it was Fluttershy.

She had goggles and a snorkel.

"Quincy the sea turtle says the tide's coming in. We should take the picture soon or risk having damp ankles. Oh, he's so thoughtful." She said, bringing the completely ruined blanket to Rarity.

She gagged for a moment.

Well, Sunset finally came.

Gohan didn't come.

'I thought that would get him... Oh well.' She thought.

She saw her friends having fun, taking selfies with Giru.

Doing poses like blowing kisses, hands to the head and hips, peace signs, yadda yadda.

"This is unproductive! Giru, Giru!" Giru said.

"Memory is running low!" He added.

Sunset giggled as she got closer.

Giru tried to desperately fly away, this was cancer to him.

But he ended up bumping into Sunset.

"Oh. Twilight, you got the Selfie Sensor working on Giru?" She asked, posing.

You know, hand to head and other hand to hips.

Then Giru cowered and ran behind Twilight.

"Giru! Giru! Giru! Danger!" He said.

Everyone just stared at Sunset Shimmer funnily.

"...O...Kay? I don't think we'll be able to take the 'Best Friends' picture today." She said.

"...Why is that...?" Twilight asked.

"Gohan and Goten aren't here." Sunset said.

"Who and who?" Pinkie asked.

"You know... Gohan and Goten? Saiyans? Our best friends?" Sunset asked.

"Wait, our?" Rainbow Dash asked.

Sunset thought it was a joke, so she chuckled for a moment.

"Uh oh, what did I do?" She asked.

...

"...Joke's over, girls." Sunset said.

...

"...Should we take the photo without them? Or...?" She asked.

...

"...Sunset Shimmer...?" Applejack asked.

"Askin' to be in our 'Best Friends' picture? Heh. Now I've heard it all." She said.

She looked angry.

"Am... I missing the joke here?" Sunset asked.

"The only joke is whatever this is you're playing on us, acting all nice like you're our friend." Rarity said.

"And it's not funny!" Fluttershy said.

"Because you're not nice." Rainbow Dash said.

"And we AIN'T friends." Applejack said.

Sunset was shocked.

"Wait, what!?" She asked.

"You got applesauce in your ears? I said, we ain't fr- Whoa!" Applejack said, before Sunset grabbed her arm.

She could see the future!

Nah, only her memories.

Something was off...

Sunset was missing from all the good memories, except the bad ones!

It's as if someone just erased her from existence.

Applejack shoved her away.

"Get your hands off me!" She yelled.

Sunset's feet/sandals dragged across the ground for a moment.

'They're serious...' She thought.

"This has to be a bad dream. Wake up, Sunset. Wake up!" She said, trying to wake up from nothing...!

Then Pinkie pinched her elbow.

"Ow!"

"Nope! You're awake!" Pinkie said.

She decided to poke herself.

"Ow!" She said, giggling.

"Me too!"

...

"What about you?" Sunset asked Rainbow Dash.

She grabbed her arm now.

She saw the memories of the Friendship Games...

And she was gone there, too.

Even in the race where Rainbow Dash saved her.

Back to reality.

"No! Rainbow Dash, you saved me in that race!" She said.

"What race?" Rainbow Dash asked.

"I can see your memories, and I'm not in them!" Sunset said.

"And exactly how is it you can see our memories, if you don't mind me askin'?" Applejack asked.

"With this!" Sunset said, showing off her pendant.

"Oh, pfft! It's obviously a cheap knockoff of ours." Rarity said.

"We got them together. You were there, remember?" Sunset asked.

"Why is she still talking to us?" Fluttershy asked.

"Maybe we should make her leave." Applejack said.

"Oh, yeah. I got dibs on this." Rainbow Dash said, cracking her fingers.

"Wait, you're fighting me?" Sunset asked.

"I wanna try!" Pinkie said.

"Why!?" Sunset asked.

"Payback. Why else?" Applejack asked.

'This is bad.' She thought.

Instinctively, she pulled out her magical book with Gohan.

"Give me a moment, please..." She said.

"Heh. I don't mind." Rainbow Dash said.

She quickly scribbled this down...

"Gohan, this is an emergency. Our friends forgot about us and Goten, and now they want revenge on me! I have a feeling they might kill me... But please, I really need you right now! Please!"

She closed the book.

"Ya done writing your final will and testament?" Pinkie asked.

"Not exactly..." Sunset said, putting the book back in her bag.

'I can never seem to win one battle. And now they might kill me.' She thought.

"Now, I really do not want to fight you right now." She said.

"Too bad." Rainbow Dash said.

"Please, this isn't right! Fighting isn't always the ans-" "GOTCHA!" Rainbow Dash screamed, punching Sunset right in the face, full force!

Sunset was sent flying, and her bag fell away from her.

She rolled on the ground a few times.

"Ow..." She mumbled.

"Hah! How was that?" Rainbow Dash asked.

Sunset got pissed.

'I can't win... But I'm not going down without a fight...' She thought.

She slowly stood herself up, taking a deep breath.

Some blood ran down from her forehead and over her right eye.

Rainbow Dash ponied up.

"Had enough?" She asked.

Sunset made her white aura flare.

"Hyah!" She yelled, ponying up herself.

Then her aura turned into a crimson red.

Everyone looked shocked.

Yes, even those bystanders.

A fight was happening...

"Not even close." Sunset said grimly.

She and Rainbow Dash charged at each other, yelling.

They both threw a punch, and created a shockwave when they collided!

Some sand flew.

This was the beginning of an intense battle...
