Chapter 1: A Delicious Idea

Chapter 1 - A Delicious Idea

Today, in Equestria’s little town of Ponyville, it seemed like any normal sunny day. Lots of pony folk chatting, working, eating or drinking, buying what they needed to buy and going about their normal lives. And on the other side of this quiet little town, stood the large crystal castle of Equestria’s Princess of Friendship: Twilight Sparkle.

Inside the castle’s shiny crystal walls was it’s own library, filled to the brim of anything ponies ever needed to know or things they never thought they knew. Inside said library, there were two familiar characters present: Princess Twilight herself and her recently graduated friendship student, Starlight Glimmer. Twilight was currently replying to a pile of fan mail sent by a fair amount of admirers and Starlight was just reading any kind of book that interested her. She chose to read about the history of the Hippogriff Kingdom. The book was first published a few weeks earlier.

Suddenly, both ponies heard a familiar buzzing noise coming from one of the books. This particular book also happened to be glowing a bright purple light. Twilight smilied a warm smile. She knew what is was. It was Sunset Shimmer’s Message Journal. The journal was placed on a nearby table, but Twilight simply levitated the journal over towards her. She opened the glowing book and inside was the latest diary entry from Sunset about her adventures in the human world.

“Hey, Starlight.” called Twilight to the other side of the room, “Sunset Shimmer has been up to some shenanigans again. Let’s see what she’s written.”

Twilight read Sunset’s written words out loud with Starlight listening with interest.

“Dear Twilight,

Still enjoying my new life here in this world. Me and my friends have been through quite a lot recently.

Pinkie babysat this sweet little girl called Lily Pad, Rainbow and Applejack were competing with each other to see who’s in the most school clubs, I managed to help Rarity design a new fashion display, our Twilight was surrounded by a swarm of giant, singing plants and Fluttershy impressed an entire class with her math skills. Oh yeah, speaking of, thanks to Twilight’s study program, we all managed to pass our final exams.

So, yeah, that’s all from my latest update, so to speak and I hope life in Equestria is good too.

Your friend, Sunset Shimmer.”

Both ponies each smiled their own satisfied smile.

“Well, it seems Sunset is still enjoying her life in that world.” said Twilight gladly.

“Yeah.” Starlight agreed. “And you know, despite meeting a mysterious girl who trapped Sunset and her friends inside a void mirror and being attacked by a “glamourous” 10 foot version of herself, I kinda liked hanging out with Sunset. It felt weird but fun walking around on two legs instead of four, that movie me and the girls watched was spectacular and... I can never forget the taste of the food in that world. The popcorn, the veggie burgers and, especially, the ice cream. For some reason, the ice cream in that world tastes a little bit better than the ice cream here in Equestria.”

“In any particular way?” Twilight asked, curiously.

“I don’t know. It just had more of a yummy taste.” Starlight answered. “You know,” she thought, “I kinda want to taste that ice cream again, so I can tell you exactly what it tastes like.” And then, after a few moments, Starlight came up with a brilliant idea. “I know.” she cried. “How about you ask Sunset, on your little message journal, to send some tubs of the ice cream from her world, through the portal and into the castle.”

They then looked at the big mirror on the far end of the library room. The mirror that gained access for anyone, if desired, to step in the human world and to turn into the very creatures who inhabited it. Twilight thought about her idea.

“But, why can’t you just go through the portal yourself and buy the ice cream yourself?” she questioned.

“Well, I’m pretty sure the money Sunset uses in her world isn’t the same money we use in Equestria.” Starlight replied.

“And” Twilight continued, “are you sure you’re just going to send ice cream through the portal? Not that... red, fleshy stuff Rarity warned me about once?”

“Uh, nope. Just the ice cream.”. Starlight then realised. “You know, I’m surprised neither of us came up with this idea sooner.”

“What do you mean?” Twilight asked.

“Well, from what I can remember, the technology from the human world looks more advanced from our own. I mean, huge screens with moving, flashy pictures, little thin devices you can send messages on, big, curved machines on wheels that move by themselves. If we had access to that technology, we could probably make Equestria a much better place.”

“But, Starlight,” Twilight warned her, “you forget that there are evil forces all over Equestria who could use that technology as weapons against us, making them more powerful than ever. And besides, aren’t we all satisfied enough with magic? I mean, there’s no technology in the human world to make you teleport yourself to the kitchen or turn yourself invisible or make you travel back in time.”

“Oh okay.” sighed Starlight. “Looks like the only thing we’ll be importing will be food.”

“Alright.” said Twilight. “I’ll ask Sunset for the ice cream as soon as I’m done with this fan mail.” And with that, Twilight carried on with her work and Starlight took her Hippogriff history book and took it to read in her bedroom.

Soon, the fan mail was signed, the message was sent and Sunset gave Twilight the simple reply of “Uh.. okay. If that’s what Starlight wants”. About an hour later, Sunset was standing next to the portal at Canterlot High School holding a large tub of “Flavour-tastic Ice Cream”. She placed the tub through the portal where it then appeared on the other side in the library. She placed the tub down onto the ground and pulled her hands hooves back in.

Twilight lifted up the tub with her magic, grabbed a spoon from one of the kitchen’s many drawers and took them up to Starlight’s bedroom. On the way, she admired the colourful and detailed artwork on the tub’s packaging. “Starlight?” she called, knocking on the bedroom door. “The ice cream’s here.” She opened the door and trotted in.

“Oh, nice.” said Starlight excitedly, sitting on her bed. “Oh, do tell Sunset I said ‘thanks’.” Starlight grabbed the tub and spoon with her own levitation magic and floated the tub close to her lap. She opened the lid and all the swirling colours of the sweet, frozen goodness met Starlight’s vision. She dipped the spoon into the ice cream and, immediately, into her mouth. Then, all of a sudden, the delicious, exquisite, wonderful taste of the ice cream was coming back to her.

But what also came was a certain feeling. A feeling that told her to keep eating this ice cream, no matter what. Keep eating and never stop because it tastes so good.

“Well?” asked Twilight, “How does it taste?”

Starlight paused for a moment. “Uhh... I think I might need to have a few more bites in order to describe it. This might take a while.”

“Oh. Alright.” said Twilight with a tiny bit of concern. She exited the room and Starlight continued eating, much to her delight. After 15 minutes, Twilight returned into the bedroom and found that Starlight had eaten the entire tub clean. Twilight hadn’t noticed, but Starlight had also gained a small bulge in her stomach from the eating. Twilight asked again what the ice cream tasted like, but Starlight thought it was too soon for it to end. She thought that no matter what, she wanted more!

“Oh, uhh.... actually I think I’m going to need more in order to properly describe it. Uhh, do tell Sunset to send us, say, 15 more tubs. I really need to make a definite description.”

Twilight looked more concerned for her friend than before. “Ooookay. If that’s what you’d like.” Twilight exited and trotted downstairs to write Sunset the message.

Starlight lied back onto her back, her hooves under her head, and sighed calmly. “This is going to feel great.”

Chapter 2: Stuck in Two Worlds

Literally in Two Places at Once

Chapter 2: Stuck in Two Worlds

In the next 4 weeks, Sunset was numerously asked by Twilight for Starlight’s wishes, dozens of tubs were sent over and Starlight kept eating and eating to her heart’s desire. And in between, she kept making the most clever excuses she could think of to convince Twilight to keep sending.

“Okay, surely you’ve come up with your exact opinions now!” Twilight once said to her, out of concern and impatience.

“Uhhh... nope. Not yet. Just need a liiittle bit more, if you and Sunset wouldn’t mind.” Starlight said with a full mouth. Twilight gave a little irritated huff.

And during the course of those 4 weeks, Starlight had grown bigger and bigger, fatter and fatter with every tub she ate clean. She soon had to resort to eating while sitting on the floor, for her bed couldn’t support much more of her weight. Eventually though, the time finally came that her love of ice cream has died down and that Starlight have had enough. But, by then, she had eaten... about... 50 or so tubs and had gain so much weight that her belly was now a few centre meters off the ground and her bottom was as big as a hippo’s.

She was soon slowly trotting her way downstairs towards the library, where she knew Twilight would be. She had predicted correctly. Twilight was in the library reading where she had previously left off on a certain book called “The Princess’ Guide to Reforming Sirens”. It had been roughly a year since she started reading it. It was a big, detailed, complicated nugget of info. Before she started reading Chapter 36.5b, the doors to the library were flung open.

“Well, it’s about time. I sure hope finally thought of a-“ Twilight said out of slight irritation, but she immediately stopped and stared when she saw Starlight. “Wha- I- uhh...” She shook her head to clear her current thoughts. “Well, now that I’m absolutely certain you’ve eaten enough of that ice cream, how does it taste?” she asked.

“Oh. Uhh...” Starlight suddenly remembered the reason all this ice cream was sent to her in the first place. She thought for the best description for the taste she could come up with. “It was uhh... perfect.” There was a little pause.

“Perfect? That’s it?” Twilight asked out of confusion. “After all this time, all that ice cream, all that- that... weight you’ve gained, all you can think of to describe the ice cream is just... perfect?!

“He-he, uhh... I might’ve been too busy eating to think properly.” said Starlight with a nervous chuckle.

Twilight simply face-hoofed and gave a small angry sigh. “Well, now that I know for sure that this was all a complete waste of time, I know exactly what you should do now. I’m going to message Sunset right now and you are going to tell her-“ she was interrupted by Starlight.

“To tell her ‘thank you for all the ice cream.’? Sure thing. I may be overweight, but I’m not mean. Anymore.”

“Well, that’s not what I was going to say, but alright. You do make a good point.” She immediately grabbed the journal with her magic and wrote to Sunset that Starlight is coming to thank her. After a few minutes, Sunset replied to Twilight saying that she's now standing next to the portal and is awaiting Starlight’s arrival. “Okay Starlight,” Twilight told her, “she’s ready for you now.”

Starlight nodded in response and made her way towards the portal mirror. She managed to squeeze her head and front hooves through the mirror and on the other side. But, after a few seconds, she found that she couldn’t move herself any further forward. “Huh?” She hadn’t realised that her massive belly, huge fat and hippo sized flanks were plugged up against the sides of the mirror. The hole in the mirror was too small and tight to allow the rest of her fat pony body to fit through.

“Uh, is there something wrong?” Sunset asked, a little confused.

“Wait, hang on.” Starlight said, as she attempted to brace her human hands against the portal statue and pull herself forward. She pulled hard with all her available strength and pushed her hind pony hooves forward. But, she still stayed put, which meant only one thing...

“He-he, I, uhh... seem to be a bit... stuck.”

“A bit?” asked Sunset with a stern look on her face. “Well, I’m not surprised that you’re stuck. Look at you. You made yourself as big as a sumo wrestler!” Starlight started to blush with embarrassment. Sunset pulled out her journal to inform Twilight of the situation.

“Oh yeah.” cried Starlight suddenly, “I was gonna thank you for buying all the ice cream for me, but now, I feel that’s now going to turn into an apology.” Sunset sighed with guilt as she continued writing. She was lucky her job at the sushi restaurant gave her just enough pay for this.

Meanwhile, Twilight was staring with irritation at the blocked mirror and, yes, at Starlight’s massive plot. “I knew I should’ve warned her about this,” she mumbled to herself, not that Starlight could hear her in her current state, “but constant fan mail and friendship problems just had to stop me.” She then received Sunset’s message in her journal. “‘Twilight, Starlight seems to be stuck.’ Gee, I can’t imagine why.” she said with an annoyed tone. The message continued. “I’m going to try and push her back into the library. Maybe you can pull her back in?” Twilight replied with a simple “sure”.

“Okay, I’m going to try and push you back through.” Sunset told Starlight. She then pressed her hands against Starlight’s body getting ready to push. “Okay, 3, 2, 1, NOW!” Then she immediately started pushing Starlight’s fat body towards the portal. Meanwhile, Twilight grabbed Starlight’s hind hooves with her magic and pulled with all her might. They both pushed and pulled really hard, but Starlight’s body was too big to fit through the portal hole. After a few more tries, they both stopped to catch their breath.

“Well, that’s no good.” Sunset panted. “How about I pull you instead?”

“Anything you can do to get me out of here.” Starlight sighed. Sunset quickly messaged Twilight to push instead of pull. Sunset then grabbed Starlight’s chubby hands.

“Ready? And...” Sunset then leaned back and started to pull Starlight out of the portal. Near the same time, Twilight placed her front hooves onto Starlight’s huge bottom and started to push her through. She groaned as she tried to summon the strength she needed. So did Sunset, as she grunted trying to pull back as far as she could go. They both kept pulling and pushing for several minutes, until they both gave up again. Starlight still didn’t budge.

“Wow. Such a problem I’ve gotten myself into.” sighed Starlight.

“You can say that again.” groaned Sunset. “Look, I’ll be right back. I’m just gonna fetch my friends. Maybe they can think of something.” She ran off for the school’s main entrance. “Hold on!” she called.

Starlight sighed with embarrassment, hanging alone in her trap, wondering what Twilight would say about this. “Not trying to rain on my own parade, but I think this serves me right.”

Meanwhile, Twilight was still staring at Starlight’s situation. “Not to be mean or anything, but this serves you right.” she said to herself. After next to 20 minutes of waiting in a rather uncomfortable state, Starlight saw Sunset return with a few of her human friends: Applejack, Rainbow Dash and this world’s equivalent of Twilight. They found Starlight’s current state to be quite the surprise.

“Starlight? What on earth happened to you?” asked Human Twilight in a surprised tone.

“Well... it’s kind of a long story.” Starlight giggled nervously.

“She gained a lot of weight, she’s stuck in the portal and now we’ve gotta get her out.” Sunset said quickly, trying to make that long story short. “Got any ideas?”

“Okay, let’s start with the obvious solution.” said Applejack. “All of ya stand back.” She walked up to Starlight, touched the magical orange Geode around her neck, granting her the power of super strength and grabbed hold of Starlight’s hands. “Alright, hold tight now. And... HEAVE!!!” She then used her advanced strength to pull Starlight out of the portal. But having the strength of what felt like 10 Applejacks, plus 2, wasn’t doing kindly to Starlight.

“OWOWOWOWOW!” she cried in pain. “AJ, STOP! YOURE GONNA RIP MY ARMS OFF!” Applejack stopped pulling when she heard those words.

“Oh, sorry.”

“Nice try AJ, but that’s not gonna cut it.” said Rainbow walking up to Starlight. “What we need is a little super speed!” She then granted this power by touching her own blue Geode around her neck, before grabbing Starlight’s hands. She then proceeded to pull her out of the portal with her speed power acting as a boost of strength. But the only accomplishment Rainbow received from this idea was ending up in a small crater up to her hips. “Or... maybe not.”

Human Twilight kindly lifted Rainbow out of the crater with her own Geode power: levitation. But even with that in mind, she knew her own power wasn’t strong enough to lift Starlight out.

“Well, we’ve done all we can do with our Geode powers.” thought Sunset, “So, what else can we do?” They all knew the powers the other girls possessed wouldn’t be much help. Fluttershy’s power of talking to animals and Rarity’s power to create gem shields wouldn’t be any good. Pinkie’s power of creating little explosions with sprinkles would most likely damage the portal. And Sunset’s power of reading people’s memories will only show her how Starlight became this fat in the first place. Not even Princess Twilight could use the most simple solution of just teleporting Starlight back into the library. If she can only see half of the object or pony she wanted to teleport, then she would most likely be teleporting one half of Starlight into the library. That would not end well.

Human Twilight walked up to the portal. She took a minute or three to examine Starlight’s body and the position she’s currently in. After a few minutes, she came up with the only solution she could think of.

“So, Starlight seems to be stuck because gained a whole lot of weight and thus, making her body bigger. Her body is now too big to fit through the portal. So, there’s only one thing we have left to do. We should wait for Starlight to slim down a few pounds or so. If her body is thinner, it would be easier to pull her out.” Twilight concluded.

“Huh?” Starlight was both surprised and confused. “Slim me down? You mean, not eat anything?! But, but, if I don’t eat anything for a week or something, I’ll die of starvation, won’t I?”

“Don’t worry.” Sunset reassured, “We will still feed you, but obviously, not as much as you did before. Small portions for every meal is what I’m saying.”

“Uuugggh! Fine!” Starlight sighed angrily. Sunset came up to her and placed her left arm on Starlight’s big body.

“Don’t worry, we will get you out of here.” she said, “I promise.”

Even though she now knew of the torturous stuff that is to come, Starlight still gave her a tiny little smile.

Chapter 3: The Slimming Begins

Chapter 3: The Slimming Begins

Soon enough, the massive period of waiting had started. Starlight stayed put in her current position, stuck in a tight spot for a really long time, waiting for her body to get thinner. But the other girls would arrive to make sure she wasn’t too alone or she wasn’t exactly starving to death. Sunset would give her a small portion of a certain food for every meal. One day, she gave her one half slice of toast for breakfast, a half slice of a cheese sandwich for lunch and a few slices of orange for an evening meal, along with a small glass of water each time. The food given was slightly different every time though. She would later receive half of a lettuce and tomato sandwich or a few slices of apple.

Sunset and her friends would often come by and keep Starlight company for a period of time. On Monday, Rarity showed her the sketches she drew for the latest display in the boutique in town. Starlight knew they wouldn’t interest her that much, since she hasn’t lived as a human for too long, but she was hoping Rarity could please her boss, Prim Hemline. On Tuesday, Fluttershy came along with a pet she borrowed from the animal shelter. The pet she borrowed was a cat and he loved being stroked by Starlight. His adorable behaviour made her smile warmly. On Wednesday, Pinkie told her a whole lot of jokes, even though most of them weren’t really that funny.

“I told him ‘Hey, I know a guy with a wooden leg named Smith’. Then he asked me ‘What’s the name of his other leg?’.” And then Pinkie was lying down on the ground laughing hard. Starlight only thought.

“I... don’t get it.”

On Thursday, a construction worker by the name of Hard Hat, along with a few other builders, came to fill up the crater Rainbow unintentionally created. Starlight watched as they made numerous mixtures of concrete and poured them into the hole. Once they had finished the job, they wrapped striped tape around the crater and around the portal statue to let the concrete dry. They also put up a sign to warn the other students: Danger. Wet Cement. Do not cross.

On Friday, Rainbow and Applejack were entertaining Starlight by competing each other in loads of arm wrestling games. Applejack was the stronger one of the two (even without her Geode’s power for help), but Rainbow didn’t want to give up without winning once. Eventually, after 12 more tries, Rainbow managed to win a game, mainly because Applejack managed to kill off her arm strength at the last moment, since she didn’t feel like carrying on with this any longer.

On Saturday, Sunset told Starlight one of the many suburban adventures she and her friends had been up to. “So then, I tried to tell her a clearer message by taking a leaf of a nearby plant and biting into it. Little did I know that there was a guy standing right there, watching the whole thing.” They both chuckled.

“And I thought Countess Coloratura’s fail was embarrassing enough.” Starlight giggled. And on Sunday, Twilight came with her tablet and she and Starlight both watched the first Mary Potter movie. Starlight was really interested in the storyline and was blown away by the special effects.

But, during this period of waiting, the weather constantly changed. Some days were sunny, other days were rainy. Sometimes, the wind blew softly, other times, the wind blew in strong gusts. In case it ever did rain or get too blowy, Rainbow had already built a shelter out of bricks. It only took her 15 seconds.

But, at long last, the day finally came. Starlight felt like she was stuck in the portal for an eternity, when in reality, it had been up to 5 weeks. Sunset walked up to Starlight once again with Applejack and Rainbow alongside.

“Okay.” Sunset said to her. “Today might be the day and I think you’ve been stuck long enough.” Starlight sighed in agreement. Sunset pulled out her journal once more and wrote to Princess Twilight to come and give Starlight another push. “Alright, let’s do this.” Sunset grabbed hold of Starlight’s hands, Rainbow grabbed hold of Sunset’s waist and Applejack activated her Geode’s power of strength before grabbing the tip of Rainbow’s hoodie with her pinky finger. Meanwhile, Princess Twilight received the message, rushed down to the library and placed her front hooves on Starlight’s bottom once more.

“Okay.” Sunset called to the others, “On the count of three. 1. 2. 3. PULL!!!” And so they did. Sunset and Rainbow pulled as hard as they could, while Applejack only pulled her pinky finger slightly, so is not to hurt anyone like before. At the same time, Twilight was throwing all her weight against Starlight’s still huge plot. She kept pushing forward, using up all her current muscle. Sunset and Rainbow were still pulling hard, they weren’t about to give up just yet.

“I DONT THINK THIS IS WORKING!” Rainbow yelled to Sunset.

“WE HAVE TO KEEP TRYING!” Sunset cried. “AJ, WE KINDA NEED YOUR HELP HERE!” Applejack was still tugging with her little finger when she heard Sunset’s words.

“Oh, right. Uhh, SORRY!” she replied. “HOLD ON!” she then grabbed Rainbow’s legs and used her Geode strength to help pull Starlight out. They all pushed and pulled, pulled and pushed harder than ever. A few moments later, Sunset could feel herself jerked back a little.

“HEY, IT’S WORKING!” she called to the others. “KEEP GOING!” They continued to pull as hard as they could, Starlight getting further out of the portal, slowly but surely. “COME ON! ONE! MORE! PULL!!” And then, as if by magic, Starlight’s massive body came bursting out of the portal. Princess Twilight managed to fall flat on her face, while Starlight was flung forward onto her fat stomach. Rainbow and Applejack were flung back so far, they both ended up in a heap.

“Sorry. Are ya legs feelin’ alright?” Applejack asked, worried she might’ve hurt her from all the pulling.

“Heh, don’t worry. They’re fine.” she replied “I’ve honestly felt worse.” Starlight soon managed to lift her head up and realised something of which she never thought would happen, just happened.

“We did it. We did it!” she said excitedly. “I’M FREE!”

But I’m not.” came a familiar voice, but in a muffled tone. “Can you please get off me?” Starlight quickly realised her big fat belly was sitting right on top of Sunset and she immediately climbed up onto her feet.

“He-he. Sorry.”

“That’s okay.” Sunset sighed with relief. “The most important thing is that you’re now out of the portal.” Then Starlight realised something.

“But, the question is, how am I going to get back to Equestria?” she asked. “After all that, I don’t think I can go back the way I came.”

“I think I’ve got the perfect idea.” Sunset said with a smirk. Starlight looked a little concerned as Sunset opened up her journal and said her written words aloud. “Twilight, you wouldn’t mind if Starlight can stay here in the human world for a few more months? Starlight and Rainbow have quite a lot of work to do.” Starlight had a worried look on her face as Rainbow placed her left arm around her shoulders and grinned. They both knew what she meant. Exercise. Endless fitness and exercise. Starlight swallowed nervously.

A few moments later, Twilight replied. “Alright Sunset, she can stay. I say this will give her her just desserts.”
