Luna Buys a Switch!
Chapter 1: The Nintendo Switch
Luna Buys a Switch
By EightBitBrony
Luna was princess of the night. She was protector of dreams and maker of the lovely night sky. She was spooky as Nightmare Moon, and was the target of one colts fanboyism.
She was also a hardcore gamer.
She often snuck to our world, using her magic, and with just a few bits got games and consoles. And this evening she would strike gold.
She was about to play Breath of the Wild, which meant she was buying a Switch.
It wasn't much really. For some reason humans valued gold highly, and since it was a common material for Equestria used for making bits, having enough was hardly an issue. Imagine only needing a mere 15 bits! No matter. She soon was off to the portal to get what she needed. As usual she dusguised herself as a lovely woman with long dark hair that shimmered, wearing a dress that was actually made of star spider silk. She went to a store humans call Gamestop and waited in line for her turn.
When it finally came the cashier, a teenage guy, stared at her, his nose bleeding slightly all of a sudden given her beauty. She raised an eyebrow and looked about.
"Cashier, pray tell me where one can find a Switch."
The teen stammered as she stared. "Uhhhhh.......y..y...y...y.y.y.y.y...yeah.... right...." he went to the counter behind him and picked up a small red and white box, a picture of a black tablet with two small red and blue controllers attached to it. "Uhhhhh..... that will be $299.93 plus tax."
Luna smiled. "I will also require one copy of Zelda, and one pro controller sir cashier."
The cashier blushed. "Ummmmmm..... oh..... kay....." he said. She chuckled as he spoke silently, though she coukd still hear. "God I love my job. I always get the hot customers."
Luna covered her mouth to stifle a giggle as the cashier gathered the items for her. She paid him in the local currency (paper? Why not something more.... tactile?), packed everything in a set of saddlebags, and started for the portal home. She was hoping to get playing the console right away.
She was wrong.

As soon as she got home and into her tower, she was ready to set up when Celestia burst in. The Alicorn of the light was looking rather overwhelmed and her normally flowing mane looked messy and disheveled. Luna sighed knowingly.
"Blueblood?"
Celestia nodded.
"Discord?"
Another nod.
"A tour group?"
A huge sigh.
"Aaaaand the representative of the changelings?"
Celestia began to bawl. "All speaking at once!!!"
Luna smirked. "Cake walk dear sister."
"They also ate my cake!!!!" Celestia sobbed. Luna sighed and trotted off, leaving her sister to mope.... when she saw the Gamestop bag.
"*sniffle*.... what's this?" She said, opening the bag and eyeing the contents. She gave a slight smile.
"Luna you naughty pony..."
**********
Meanwhile Luna was staring down a long line of ponies, all with requests or comments. She had temporarily taken care of the mass of speakers, amazingly with discofds help. Trouble was that afterward came the mass of pony requests and forms to fill out... and her own problems. Example? In front of her was Pip, who stared with huge button eyes. Luna managed a nervous smile as he stared. Pip was Lunas biggest admirer among the colts and she swore the tiny pony had a crush on her.
"Ummmmmm..... yes?" She asked. He squeed and bowed low, blushing. Everyone gave a chuckle at the fanboyism he displayed. Luna just chuckled some. He then tried to fumble with a note to her, on how she was best pony. Luna just blushed as he hugged, everyone awwwing at the sight. Luna sighed and smiled.
"This may be a bit."

Celestia watched as the system kicked on, hooked up to a gem power source. It made a resounding click as it booted up. Celestia blinked as it did so.
"Interesting." She said, holding the controllers as she started the Zelda game. Her sadness was starting to fade away as she heard the game begin.
"Link...."
***************
"And I need you to sign one last form." The guard said. Luna sighed and held her aching hoof. But she had done this before, recalling the last time she filled in for her sister thanks to Starlight's spell. She smiled as she signed the last form and gave a breath, looking around for anything else, and sighing happily...
... for all of about ten minutes.
"Your Highness!" A guard said as he rushed in. "Prince Blueblood demands your attention immediately! Something about a desperate lack of culture or something. I tried to..."
"Luna!!!!" Luna winced as his voice rang out. She sighed and immediately steeled herself for the bigotry storm that was to come. That was the problem with Blueblood is he never stopped having problems with life.
"Faust help us..."
*************
Celestia just stared at the screen. The character, Link, now stood on a high mountain overlooking a vast wilderness. She now knew his story and what happened to his home. This land now was so empty but... also so beautiful. She had wandered through a variety of ruins and actually imagined this boys thoughts. She began to look about with the hero and smiled. In many ways it was like Equestria, but this was one destroyed. It made her little issues earlier seem.... petty. This hero had lost everything. She gave a sigh and nodded.
"Alright Link.... let's get Hyrule back." She said. She lept from the mountain and glided toward a camp of villians. She narrowed her eyes and set to it.
Time to refocus, both in the game and her life.
***********
Luna had to put an ice pack on her head after Blueblood, and lay there in the cushion as a chef came out. Luna sighed once but smiled. This was one part she could handle.
Being a royal taster for the upcoming Gala. The food lately was about the only thing that was even marginally interesting. Everything else about it was just a bore. She was eager to begin the tasting...
Until she saw just how many dishes there were to try. With a whimper she set to work, wondering in the back of her mind how Celly kept from being fat...
*************
Celestia hmmed as she entered a temple, staring as she saw the vast chamber before her.
"To you who has a hero's heart, I offer this trial." Celestia read. She then watched as the screen gave the trial a name. "Moderate test of strength? What does that mean?"
The princess soon got her answer as suddenly a platform raised up, revealing a three footed machine weilding an axe and a large shield.
"Oh." Celestia whimpered as she got beaten instantly. She narrowed her eyes. "In that case, let the wrath of the sun be brought on this thing!"
Link lept into the fight, an epic clash beginning...
************
At long last Luna was done, the sun ready to set. That Celestia had to do. Luna sighed, exhausted and with a tummyache from so much terrible Gala food. She was ready to relax.
But as she neared her chambers, she saw a light and heard noise. She peeked in and saw something that made her go wide eyed in shock, and also smile a little. There was her sister, playing the Switch, facing a machine and dodging lazers, looking for an opening. She watched as Celestia screamed and charged, leaping at the thing to strike it down....
And did just that, dropping the controllers in shock.
"Did.... did I....?"
Luna sighed. "I see you found the Switch I bought. And yes, you just beat a Sentry."
Celestia looked to her sister. "Sister.... I.... thank you."
Luna was confused. "What do you mean?"
"The whole reason I got stressed was over some silly diplomats and some cake. Truth is... its nothing I should not be able to handle. I consider the hero of this game." She looked at Link. "He was asleep a hundred years. All his friends are gone. He must fight to survive, let alone face an evil that makes Sombra seem like a child.
"And.... I recalled what you went through as a result. Bound to the moon. All you knew gone. And... now living with the very one who..."
"Celly I do not hold that against you..." Luna said, but Celestia continued.
"You pushed on and fulfilled your role. As he did. And as I will. You taught me something sister, know it or not. You taught me to persevere and be my best. Today.... today I did not and you stepped in. But from now on, I will do my best and be the princess I need to be."
Luna smiled. "Well you forgot one thing sister. Your not alone." She hugged her sister. "I'm here if you ever need me."
They hugged warmly before looking to the Switch. Luna chuckled as she split the Joy Cons, confusing Celestia.
"Now, how about we try some kart racing?"
Celestia smiled and narrowed her eyes. "Your on."
*************
That night, Celestia found herself dreaming of that vast landscape, like an Equestria unspoiled by progress. She sighed deeply and decided she would just relax tonight.
As Luna watched, she smiled and moved to her own dream, her body suddenly covered in armor, donning a helmet. Before her a demon roared.
"Time for some stress relief." She said, cocking a shotgun. "Come on!"
With a smile she began to take her.... stress relief course.
She loved her Switch
Author's Notes:
Wow! At long last a new story! Sorry it has been so long but I hope you like. Now.... who else should play a Switch game.... maybe Twilight playing Mario Odyssey? Or perhaps Pinkie Pie versus Doom? Give me some ideas please!
