The New Alicorn: Rainbow Dash!
Chapter 10: Sister Time
Previous Chapter Next ChapterThe next few weeks flew by in a blur. I found four unicorns willing to join my personal army. They were better at magic then I was so I didn't train them besides levitating targets that were moving from a distance for them to shoot. The Dark Wings surpassed the Wonderbolts eventually. I kept my personal army a secret though. Nopony needs to know besides them. A few earth ponies also joined my personal army, although not as many. That was fine though, my guards were trained to be the best of the best and I wouldn't have it any other way. The other princesses and my friends were too busy worrying but they tightened security all the same. Celestia's Intelligence Agency (CIA) never really found anything worthy to have a lead. It seemed like the rebellion was good at keeping things under wraps.
At this time, I was in my castle. Celestia and Luna had let a few Pegasi in the Royal Guards to guard my castle. There were a couple of servents too, but I treated them more as friends than anything. The hospital that I started had been flourishing. Cures had been found although they had been expensive. My room of bits continued to flow and I had given many to the hospital to continue. I would never allow it to collapse as it was still the only hospital around. Thankfully, more Pegasi had taken jobs there and I didn't need to pay them because the patients still had to pay in order to get in. I spent more time with Scootaloo, who was making bits with the others by finding cutie marks. Although she was young, she enjoyed it, so I never stopped her from making bits.
This very day, I landed in front of the club house, "Hey Scoots. It's your day off, right?"
Scootaloo nodded, "Yep. I'm going bungee jumping. Do you want to join?"
"Is that a challenge?" I smirked and she smirked back.
"Yep."
"You are on." We trotted to the place to go bungee jumping and there was a long line there.
Once I got in line, the pony in front shouted, "That's Princess Rainbow Dash! Let her in front of the line!" I still wasn't used to the Princess title, if I was to be honest. I also knew, by this point, that they only wanted to increase their business.
I said back, "Nah, I'll stay in line with my little sis." Scootaloo smiled at me. The line parted anyways and I sighed.
I said once more, "No. Stay in the line. I don't want to cut."
The pony in front of me bowed, "Princess Rainbow." That caused the others to bow too.
One pony asked, "Is that really your sister? As in you have the same parents?"
I replied, "Nope but she is practically my sister." I couldn't just lie and pretend that Scootaloo was my birth sister, no matter how alike we were and how much I treated her like one. None of the other ponies really wanted to interrupt me so they went back. It still wasn't the same though. All those whispers and glances at me as if I was the only abnormal one. Eventually, we got to the front of the line.
The pony said, "Princess Rainbow, you are free to go without payment."
I ignored her, "How much is it for both us us? Count my payment too."
"Uh... The total is sixty five bits for both of you." Scootaloo twitched and looked around. Judging by her body language, she had forgotten to bring bits. Meanwhile, I had an overload of bits. I gave her sixty five bits from my saddlebag and we were in. Saddlebags were like purses, but bigger. Purses were mainly used for unicorns as they had the magical horn thing. Others use saddlebags since it was easier. Most ponies carry saddlebags, even little foals. We trotted to the entrance and we put our equipment on.
Scootaloo sighed, "I'm sorry that I didn't bring bits."
I chuckled, "It's fine. Anything for my little sis, right?"
"I'll pay you back."
"I said that it's fine." We both jumped at the same time and we laughed when we bounced up and then down. When we were done, we put our equipment away.
I offered, "I'll bring you to your house. Where is it? I don't think that I have ever met your parents before."
She froze before saying, "No, it's alright. I'll manage."
"Come on Scoots. The least I could offer is to give you a ride. Don't feel that bad for taking away my nap time."
She didn't meet my eyes, "I live alone."
"Alone?"
"I live in the basement of the school. I had dug a tiny door and made a small place to sleep and eat."
I huffed, "That's where you've been living? Nope, you're staying with me now."
Scootaloo flapped her tiny wings, "Really?"
I ruffled her purple hair, "Of course. Come on." I flapped my wings and held her under my hooves and we went to the school.
I said, "Take everything that you want and go to the castle. I'll find a room and some things for you." Before she could reply, I zoomed off to my castle. The Royal Guards bowed and opened the large doors for me.
I said to them, "There's going to be a small filly named Scootaloo that's going to come here. Bring her to the throne room and make sure that nopony harms her."
A familiar voice said, "Rainbow? What's going on?"
I smiled, "It's nothing, Moondancer. My sister is going to come here and live with me. Do you mind finding her a room? I kind of need to get her some books and toys. Awesome stuff, ya know?"
"Uhh... Sure. I'll arrange her a room next to yours."
"Super." I dashed to my bits room and filled my saddlebags with bits. I flew out the castle without alerting the guards and I went to the toys store. Everypony there immediately bowed to me and I sighed internally. I grabbed toys and books on Daring Do before going to the counter. It was apparently three hundred bits in total. That wasn't a problem. I thought that I took around five hundred. I gave her the bits and left with all the toys.
The problem? There were too many toys and not enough space in the saddlebags. My first thought went to getting more room in my saddlebags by eating some food in there. Then I remembered that I didn't bring food because of the security check for bungee jumping. I wasn't going to leave two hundred bits on the floor though. My next thought went to magic. My magic was strong, obviously as all alicorns are, but carrying them without ripping them apart might be the next thing. I'll do it for Scootaloo though.
I focused on levitating the toys and they were surrounded by my magically aura. I flapped my wings and two of the toys immediately blew off, scattering fluff everywhere. Well, if I was an unicorn, perhaps I would have a cutie mark in blowing things up. I sighed as I continued flying and fluff continued to fly everywhere. By the time I got to the castle, I had five toys left in my levitación spell and a trail of fragments of toys behind me. I trotted in, folding in my blue wings and I continued to carefully carry the toys in. I went to Scootaloo's new room and set the toys in random places.
There was a knock on the door and it opened, "Your highness, the filly is in the throne room, waiting. We assure you that she is not harmed, although we did confiscate a pocket knife from her saddlebag."
I waved my hoof, "Great. I'll go there by myself." With that, I sped towards the throne room, my hooves lightly tapping the cloud floor.
Scootaloo was already there and jumped up at the sight of me, "Rainbow Dash! There you are."
A guard stepped forwards with a knife, "Princess Rainbow. I must arrest her for not calling you the proper title as she does not show respect."
I said dismissively, "Nah, it's fine. We're practically sisters. No arresting ponies for that, okay?"
The guard dipped his head and stepped backwards, "As you wish."
I nodded to Scootaloo, "Your room is set up."
She flapped her wings, "Cool. I bet that it's as awesome as yours." I let out a nervous chuckle because I was certain that there was a trail of fluff to her room. Luckily, she didn't notice the fluff nor how fake my chuckle sounded as we entered the room.
Scootaloo bounced on the bed before sitting down, "Rainbow Dash? That guard, you know, the one with the knife. He hit me, twice." She looked down as if I would undermine him just for it. I wrapped a wing around her back and waited,
Scootaloo continued, "Rainbow, I'm an orphan and many orphans are turned away from the shelter except for the rich ones who just don't want their child. My parents... They died. I don't have a passport or an ID. And that's prison for anypony who goes to Canterlot or gets stopped by a guard to see it. That's what happened to me. The guard wanted to see my passport."
I asked, confused, "Can't you just ask to make another one?"
"Yeah but Pegasi have different passports. On the first page is where every other passport is. You know, name, birthday, and a picture. The second page is different for Pegasi. We have something called a birth feather. When we are born we have feathers. They take one out and print it on the passport. It’s impossible to recreate.”
I smirked, pointing to my horn, “Well, I’m known for making the impossible possible. Sonic Rainboom, becoming an alicorn... They’re all dreams to some ponies.”
Scootaloo glanced at her cutie mark, “I wonder what would happen if the Crusaders tried to make the impossible happen. Wait, the Crusaders! I completely forgot about our meeting. Do you mind if I...?” I nodded and shooed her out, insisting that she should get to her friends.
Scootaloo jumped and smiled, "Thanks Rainbow! You're awesome."
I grinned as my ego was feed, "I know, I'm really cool. Now go on and have fun with your friends." She ran down the hallway, her tiny orange wings flapping quickly as she did so. The guards stared at her in their usual stare and I turned away. Now I needed to do something else so I wouldn't get bored. Normally, I would do some tricks in the air but now that I was an alicorn, I had to control my wingpower and not fly. I could fly short distances without a problem but when I was speeding somewhere, I would definitely make a Sonic Rainboom by accident. Maybe Twilight needed help with something? Her palace wasn't too far away and I could just trot down the clouds. Or teleport.
Twilight only told me to control my wings a few days ago, not my magic. Besides, I haven't tried teleporting since I've went to Canterlot to ponder about Rarity. Smirking, I lit my horn up and I concentrated on the palace and teleporting to the front door so the guards wouldn't jump in shock. That's what happened when I may or may not have flew through the window at Sonic Rainbow speeds. Let's just say that Spike wasn't overly happy when I knocked down the books in the library, which he had to clean up.
Once I appeared there without much of a headache, the guards immediately bowed, "Princess Rainbow."
I sighed, "Okay, whatever with the princess thing. I'm just going to go to the library. Can you get Twilight there?" I was getting sick with the princess business and whatnot. Without waiting or listening to a reply, I trotted into the library. After a few moments of staring, I saw Twilight gallop in, with a few bruises over her body as well as some blood.
