Chapter 4: The Unidentifiable

The next day, over at Crystal Prep Academy, Lemon Zest and Indigo Zap were walking the hallways. They weren’t taking any classes, rather they were getting supplies they forgot for school.

However, their minds were dominated by their first day at CHS, which was anything but welcoming.

“Ugh, what are we gonna do?” Lemon groaned. “We barely said anything and we’re already the most hated people there.” In frustration she banged her head against the locker and didn’t raise it back up.

“We do kind of deserve it Lemon. It was pretty crappy of us to pull all of those stunts on CHS in the past.” Indigo replied as she entered the combination on her locker.

“But what can we do? We can’t be hated forever, can we?”

“Well…. No, but--”

“Then we got to do something about it.” Lemon finished as she pulled out the last bit of materials from her locker. But just as she was about to slip on her headset listening to more of rock and roll tunes, she froze to see Royal Pin walking on by, looking incredibly suspicious. He stopped and seemed to pan around the room for a second before continuing to walk.

“Hey, did Royal seem a little suspicious to you?” Lemon asked.

“Yeah, he did. Wanna see what’s going on?” Indigo offered.

Lemon nodded, closed her locker, and followed Indigo creeping down the hallway to find Royal with Upper Crust and Suri. She leaned in closer, looking through the cracked open door to listen in.

“Look, how do we know this plan is gonna work?” Royal asked. “Can we even trust this girl?”

“Look, while I don’t know if it's a wise idea to listen, she’s giving us help, so I say we take it, M’kay?” Suri replied.

“I must agree with Suri. Sunset’s offering all the help we can get, and I for one think this is the perfect opportunity for some… revenge as you seem to call it.” Upper replied.

Lemon and Indigo couldn’t believe what they were hearing. Sunset was helping them? But another thought came into their mind, Sunset wouldn’t dare help them. Maybe someone else with her name was helping them?

However they wouldn’t have much else to listen to, for more people were heading for the door. Luckily Indigo and Lemon backed out just in time as they stayed hidden, and watched the three of the exit the room and meet up with Neon, Jet, and Fleur, and they walked down the hallway.

Little did any of them know, that soon Lemon and Indigo would be creeping behind them, following them all the way...

“Indigo, this is crazy!” Lemon said.

“I know,” Indigo said. “But we need to figure out what’s going on. Two Sunset Shimmers?”

Lemon sighed. “Yeah… I guess you’re right.”

Like cops, they tailed the suspicious group to wherever their destination was, via car. Thankfully, none of them saw the two girls following them.

After a while, the two parked the car onto a sidewalk, far from their eyesight. Once they stepped out, they slowly stepped out and skipped up to the front gate, and looked up. They had followed them over to a… mansion?

“What the…?” Indigo said.

“Where are we?” Lemon said.

“We’re gonna find out,” Indigo said. “Now be quiet. We don’t want to get caught.”

After climbing over a fence, and carefully moving along the edges of the brick walls, Indigo and Lemon hid behind some bushes as they watched Neon, Jet, and Fleur enter the mansion. The door closed behind them, making an audible, metallic sound when it shut.

“Alright, let’s go in,” Indigo said, getting out from the bushes.

“Wait!” Lemon said, pulling Indigo back. “We can’t just walk through the front door.”

“Why not?” Indigo asked.

“We could hear the door shut from here,” Lemon said. “Imagine how loud it must be inside the house. We’ll get busted for sure.”

“Ooh… good point,” Indigo said, biting her lip. "Okay. New plan. Go around the back, find a different way."

The two of them held their bodies up against the walls and kept dashed right across the side, making their way to the back. Once they made it to the back, they looked around the backyard area. There was a cobblestone patio all around, with arches holding up balcony ledges, a giant swimming pool, a hot tub, and an outdoor eating table.

"Awww... she's got a pool!? Come on, we can't even afford that!" Lemon whined.

"Lemon! Can we focus, please?" Indigo asked. “Wait… I see something.”

“What?” Lemon said.

Indigo pointed her finger to an open window. “There.”

Lemon’s eyes went wide. “That just might work. And I don’t think the lights are on either.”

“Let’s do it,” Indigo said.

Quietly, they snuck up to the wall of the mansion. Indigo peered in to see if anyone was watching. When the coast seemed clear, she crawled through the window, quickly but quietly followed by Lemon.

Once inside, the two of them found themselves in a big hallway. The carpets were woven with a black diamond pattern, stretching on a shiny wood paneled floor. The walls were painted in shades of tan, while the arches or corners that stood out were in maroon colors. Red curtains covered the windows from every window, and a few lights were set to dim throughout.

"Wow... not a bad place." Lemon gasped.

"Yeah... I really like the carpet as well."

"Yeah, really ties the hall together. Now, where to?"

"I've got this. Follow me." Indigo said, gesturing Lemon to follow after.

They heard voice coming from somewhere in the mansion. Carefully, the turned around, following the sounds to the source. They kept their mouths shut, not wanting to make a single peep and get busted.

They followed the sound downstairs, and came to the only room that existed on the lower level. The door was cracked open, and inside they heard voices. The same voices, and louder than ever. They were here.

Indigo and Lemon peeked into the room, and did their best to muffle their gasps at what they saw.

Machines, electronics, and radars were everywhere. A giant tank was in the corner of the room, emitting a strange aura. Strange… but an aura that seemed oddly familiar. It was hard to make out, but there appeared to be a map of the city with red ball-pins placed in certain places.

“What is all this?” Indigo asked.

“Is that a tank of… magic?” Lemon asked.

“More like a silo,” Indigo said. “It’s huge. I think I can feel it from here.”

“Me too,” Lemon said.

“I think they’re saying something,” Indigo said, shushing Lemon.

“Are you sure about this?” Fleur asked. “We can’t discuss this somewhere else? This place is… ugh… shady…”

“She said to meet her down here,” Jet said. "But she also did tell us to look out. She said whatever she had in here got loose, so keep your eyes and ears open.

Indigo raised an eyebrow. “Her? Do they mean…?”

Ahem,” a voice behind them said, making them jump.

Indigo and Lemon darted their heads to look behind them, and the last thing either of them remembered was a blow to the face before everything went black.

Indigo slowly awoke, her eyes slowly flinching to the light coming into her vision. Distorted shapes appeared in their vision, mainly arches that were around her, covered in a big drape. Once she woke up, she looked underneath her and found herself laying on top of silk sheets, and her head on top of a big pillow.

When did I get back in bed… wait… this isn't my bed. I better, wait... I can’t move… Why can’t I move!?

Indigo realized her feet were now tied together with rope, and her own hands were tied as well, wrapped up tightly in duct tape. She groaned, and soon realized her own mouth had been gagged with duct tape wrapped around her head.

"Mmm! Mmm mm m mm mmm mm!" Indigo tried screaming. No use. But where was Lemon Zest? She wasn't in the same room as her. And she looked to the clock on the nightstand, reading 10:00 in the evening.

Well if she wasn't here, then she would have to find her.

She threw herself side to side, to try and throw her feet off the bed, in attempt to see if maybe she could stand. Once she was straight up, she slowly hopped onto her own feet. It may not have been much, but at least she could walk around. But now she had to find something to cut herself free with.

Looking around, she noticed a desk against the wall, right across from the bed. Maybe if she could slowly get over there, she could get her hands free.

Carefully making small hops across the room, she made it to the desk and looked around on the top. Some pens, random pieces of paper, but wait. A pair of scissors. If she could grip them, she could cut her hands free.

Turning herself around so her hands could get to the desk, she found the handle of the scissors and held them, sighing in relief. Now, adjusting them carefully, she managed to cut through a few of the strips, making it down to the final one. Using all of her might, she ripped her arms hard which tore the tape off. Once her hands were free, she went to her gag and pulled it off as best as she could.

"Agh, oww..." Indigo groaned. "Well, at least I'm out. Hopefully Lemon Zest is still around here."

Indigo pushed herself against the door, listening carefully for any noises. None.

She carefully opened the unlocked door, picking up the dark hallways. With as little movement as possible, she quickly stepped out of the door, and quietly closed the door. But there was just one problem... she was in the hallway, and there were dozens of doors all around the place. Worse... it looked just like the same hallway she had stepped into before.

"Oh come on, not this..."

Well without any other choice, she started to walk. She kept close to the lights that were set to dim, and did her best not to make any audible sounds. She checked behind her as she walked, and sighed. No sign that she was being followed. But if there was any hope of her getting out of this house, she'd need to keep her eyes everywhere.

But as she turned around--

"DAH!" A girl shrieked

"Dah, oh!" Indigo sighed. "Lemon, you got out!"

Standing in front of her was Lemon Zest, still in the same clothes she showed up in the night they arrived at the house. But the most strangest thing that Indigo could notice about her was that seemed really frightened. More frightened than she should be.

Lemon slowly nodded. "Y-Yeah, I did. Apparently our captor didn't think about getting tools that could help us get out, out of our rooms."

"Idiot." Indigo shook her head.

"Come on, lets get out of here, and fast!" Lemon whimpered.

"Whoa, Lemon, calm down. What's got you so spooked?"

"Please, lets just go!" Lemon whined.

"Lemon, what's wrong? Wait... did Sunset, not ours, did she see you?"

"No, it--"

The two of them stopped. They could hear the sounds of footsteps coming down a flight of stairs that were just feet behind them.

"Come on, lets hide!"

Indigo grabbed Lemon and took her down the hall and across into another corridor. The two of darted down the hall, and opened up a door into another room. Closing it behind them, they found themselves in a giant gourmet kitchen.

"I think we might be safe in here. Lets just--"

The two of them listened carefully, and they heard the sounds of footsteps coming right towards the kitchen.

"Hide, now."

Indigo and Lemon quickly looked around, there had to be a place to hide. The closet? Too obvious. The cupboards? How would they know if they could be empty?

Instantly, the two of them just started to open up cabinets, looking for crouching places to hide in. With luck, they found a cabinet big enough for them to hide in. The two of them dove inside and closed the door, making sure they couldn't be seen, but left a tiny bit of cracks open for them to see outside.

The two of them listened very carefully for a sound, any signs of the house-owner's presence... but there wasn't anything. Not a peep, or a sound. Not a single, solitary noise.

With no sounds for about five minutes, the girls nodded in agreement, thinking it was okay to finally leave. But as they were about to leave, they listened to another sound. Only this one was more terrifying than before.

This sound was more of a loud growl and hiss, like a combination of both noises. And worse, it was coming from above them. Like, crawling above them.

Both of them pulled further back into the cupboard, trying their hardest to stay out of sight. Both of them held their hands over their mouths when they saw details of what was crawling from above them. Climbing down was a slender black foot, with sharp toenails. The foot was arched slightly, like the hind leg of a horse or a raptor, but it was accompanied by a knee which held it steady.

Another foot came climbing down, followed by two hands which grabbed onto the ground. The hands were equally slender and black and very... shiny. The fingers looked especially long, long enough to make slices into their guts and rip them from their bodies.

The hissing noise was now more loud and ominous to them, as it was coming from the body. As it slowly stood up on its two legs, it slowly stomped around, away from the cabinet, and out of their sight.

Two more minutes passed by, and the noise had gone away. Maybe it was gone?

"L-Lemon... I have a good feeling that thing was what Jet Set had said was locked in her basement." Indigo gulped.

"Mmmhm..." Lemon slowly nodded.

"Now, I don't hear it... lets slowly get out, and get out of this house."

"O-O-Okay." Lemon stammered.

Slowly, both of them crept from the storage hold, and stood on both of their own feet. Thankfully, not a sight of that... thing was near them.

Both of them sighed in relief

"I know you two were hiding from me..." A scary voice interrupted.

Turning their heads, they saw the monstrosity on its feet, looking at them, hunched over like a raptor. A clearer image of the being entered their eyesight just from seeing its full form.

Its skin was slick and greasy looking, making it shine in the moonlight from the window. A pair of cyan colored eyes were staring straight at them. Its limbs were slender and black with a few holes jotted in a few places. Its chest looked as if a muscular rib cage was on the outside, working as a shield. Sharp fangs ruptured from its mouth, and from what they could see, long hair that was split into a few dreads, long, green and messy were hanging from the back of its head, and drooping over its shoulders. This thing was a walking biped... and they were petrified.

Both of the girls gulped in fear.

"I know you have been prisoner in the hours you were here."

"You aren't going to kill us... a-a-are you?"

I could sever one limb at a time...

The creature stomped towards them, and loosed up from his hunched form, standing completely straight, towering above the two of them. Both of them quivered in fear, and waiting for a movement, while the creature just sniffed them.

"No... killing you two is a waste of my time. And my time is much too precious for simple maneuvers... My strength is saved for the real prize..."

The monster turned itself around and slowly stomped towards one of the stoves, his arms leaning against the countertop, staring down at the burners. Behind, they could see a tail was waving around like a snake, but instead of a rattle it possessed a dagger like tip.

“Wait… what are you?” Lemon asked.

"That's a bit of a dumb question Lemon." Indigo shivered.

To answer your question my green-haired acquaintance... I am what happens when humans think they are superior… they think they are gods when they possess a supernatural power… and their greedy minds up corrupting them… to the point of them turning into a monster from the inside… and turning on all of their friends…. And if you ever tell anyone I’m in this world… “ The creature moved closer towards Indigo’s face with its fangs extended out, all sharpened. “I will tear into your stomach and tear your guts out!!

“No, of course. No, no issues!” Indigo raised her hands in surrender as sweat ran down her forehead.

The creature then led them to a window for them to crawl through, and raised it open.

“You can escape through here... Once you do, tell all your friends about what you’ve seen. Sunset Shimmer will fall… all of them will fall. But when you tell them what you’ve seen... you will forget you ever saw me… or I will find you… and you’ll have surrendered your right to live… and I will slowly… painfully… mutilate you...”

And with that final line, the monster climbed through the window and the girls never saw them again.

“Come on Lemon, we got to get out of here while we can.”

Soon Lemon pulled herself up on the ledge and climbed out of the window, and she helped pull Indigo through and she escaped as well.

The two leaned against the wall listening in for any sounds, and luckily no sounds were heard. But just to check, Indigo poked her head out at both sides to see, and no one was there.

So the two of them took advantage of no one being around them, and ran down the pathway of the giant mansion, climbing over the locked gate, and down back into the open streets, heading straight for their car and not looking back. The feel of the wind hit their faces as they ran down the sidewalks and luckily made it back into the small town. By the time they got back, they were out of breath.

“Okay… please tell me you have some idea, on, WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!?” Indigo shouted at the top of her lungs.

“I don’t know! You don’t think one of those changelings made it here on Earth, do you?” Lemon asked, while still coughing a bit from the long run.

“I hope not, but if one of them did, we have a serious problem on our hands.” Indigo clutched her knees still trying to catch her breath from the hard running. “Okay, right now, we should head home. We’ll tell them what we saw the Shadowbolts doing tomorrow.”

“But what about that… thing we just saw? Shouldn’t we tell them about it? I think we would probably be killed either way.” Lemon replied.

Indigo took in thought of Lemon’s question. She didn’t want to be killed by the monster, but at the same time, she didn’t want to be hiding crucial information from their friends. So, it looked they had a choice. Either let them be hidden in the dark over that info, or be protected by them with that info.

“Okay. We’ll tell them tomorrow. But, keep your guard up. That thing could be anywhere.”

“Of course. Now lets get out of here."

And so the girls walked to the car, and drove away as fast as they could, hoping for tomorrow would be much better.

Little did any of them know, that the creature from the house stood facing down at the small town, on the roof of Canterlot High school, standing tall and slender.

Beware, Canterlot… A new terror has been born...”

Author's Note

okay, from the original story made here, my OC Smokestack was supposed to have a synthetic limb as a part of his character. Do you guys want to see that back on him, or no?

And now that I've given some description of the creature, want me to find someone to do an art piece on it?
