A boy walked into his bedroom rubbing his sore cheek, with a red mark on it, his lips were quivering and his eyes were teary. It was like this on some nights where his parents would tell him he is pathetic and weak and ending it with a slap. Luke was a five year old boy, with short blonde hair, who dealt with a sad life that no child should go through. There was a time when his parents loved him but they ended up turning to drinking. His dad would hit him sometimes when he was drunk and his mom would call him pathetic and say he was a mistake in their lives. His dad gave him a slap across the cheek earlier because he told him to stop being a baby while his mom watched.

Luke changed into his pj's, which was a thin green shirt and red pj bottoms, crawled into his bed and looked at the night sky through his window. The night sky was something that Luke would look at because just looking at the stars numbed the pain radiating from his cheek. It was so quiet, so serene. So peaceful. It was, in his mind, an ideal to strive for.

After five minutes of looking at the sky he was about to go to sleep for the night until he suddenly noticed a bright yellow glow around him.

'What is happening?' Luke thought fearful of what might happen. Then the yellow light became brighter to the point it was blinding, causing Luke to cover his eyes.

Luke opened his eyes seeing that the light was gone and expecting to see himself in his room but he was suddenly in an alleyway and it was day suddenly. 'What happened? How did I get here?' Luke thought.

He poked his head out of the alley expecting to see a street full of people, but instead it was a street full of ponies. What surprised Luke was that some of these ponies were unicorns and pegesai. What also surprised Luke was that he noticed some of them talking. Luke ran back into the alley to hide before any of the ponies noticed him because he was shy around other people and was afraid they might hurt him due to the abuse from his parents.

' Where am I?!' Luke thought as he hid himself from the ponies in the alley.
